Shannon had a dinner party!  It got us talking about getting to know other people, our curiosity, how we relate to others, and the conversation that naturally flows in those moments.

Don’t underestimate starting off with small talk as it can lead to deep talk.  Try to find a topic that the other person is interested in (in a natural way) so they’re more comfortable opening up to you.  David Brooks says, “a good conversation is an act of joint exploration”,  so if you can find a common interest it will allow you to start to connect with the other person.

Also, don’t forget the part about listening, or "hardcore listening" as Esther Perel puts it.  The conversation should be balanced between speaking and listening.  Listen intently to what the other person is sharing and try not to plan what your response is going to be.  Otherwise you're not as invested and will most likely miss out on the totality of what is being shared.  Be present!

The babes end the ep answering some of Esther Perel’s recommended unifying questions for her dinner party guests.  Let’s get this party started!
