In this episode of It's Coffie Time, Professor Coffie discusses the realities of the 94 Crime Bill in Black and Brown communities. In 1993 then-Senator Joe Biden stood on the floor of Congress to introduce what would become one of the most controversial and racially divisive pieces of legislation in modern history that would lead to what we now refer to as Mass Incarceration. While on the Presidential campaign trail, senator Elizebeth Warren called for the repeal of the 94 Crime Bill, joining the voices of advocates, legislators, and formerly incarcerated citizens to rectify the injustice of this legislation.
