I wasn’t one to shy away from entrepreneurship, having started my first business in my late 20s. But I was tired of not seeing stories that spoke to me or other Black women my age and decided to do something about it. I was also very clear that the business favored youth and chose to see creatives like myself as work for hires. Starting HONEY CHILE felt like a calling and allowed me to have some skin in the game, but that didn’t make it any less scary.
I’ve learned so much about myself on this entrepreneurial journey and share all that goodness for my fellow Honeys and creative entrepreneurs as HONEY CHILE celebrates our four-year anniversary. Becoming a CEO ain’t for the faint of heart, but my heart is so full of gratitude for the leap I took and for everyone that has continued to support our journey along the way.

Want to support our work? HONEY CHILE is an independent, Black-women-owned production company, completely bootstrapped by our founder. Consider donating to The HONEY Fund. The HONEY Fund is a fiscally sponsored (all donations are tax write-offs) fundraising effort that would allow HONEY CHILE to fund an array of independent projects across audio, digital, film, and TV that center Black women voices, stories, collaborators, and audiences.
