Speaker 2 (01:13):
Hey, hey, hey.
You are now tuned in to theit's the Human Experience
podcast.
I am your host, hazel Brown.
I am here to talk to you guysabout what it looks like to do
your best.
Recently, I have been in thezone of meeting myself where I'm
at right.
Many times, we are trying tomeet other people where they are

(01:33):
, or we're expecting otherthings from people or expecting
things from yourself, and Ithink it's so important that we
meet ourselves where we are, andso, as I think about that, I
think about the importance ofmaking sure that, as you show up
for yourself, you are workingon being the best version of
yourself while becoming the bestversion of yourself, and I

(01:56):
share that, because I feel likemany times, our comparison of
best is with societal best, it'snot with our best, and so I was
in the thoughts of justrecognizing that, if someone
experienced certain life events, such as a health ailment, maybe

(02:19):
they overcome cancer, maybethey have overcome weight loss
right, they've lost a lot ofweight or they've really worked
through some mental healthissues.
Maybe they ran track when theywere in high school, shifting
gears a little bit.
Maybe they were on the debateteam, maybe they were on the

(02:41):
journal team Maybe they were innewspaper.
I share that to say we all haveour own life experiences, and
for us to have the audacity tocompare our best to someone
else's best, despite the factthat we did not go through their
life journey and did not havetheir experience, it just became

(03:03):
like hoveringly important forme to share because I feel like
so many times, society has ustelling ourselves who we should
be without us taking intoaccount of our journey, our own
experiences, things thatresonate with us.
And so I jumped right into that.

(03:24):
But I'm going to rewind.

Know that all of the episodesare really important in terms of

(03:49):
pouring into you as a personand us collectively growing
together.
You don't have to necessarilylisten to one episode after the
other to be able to get valueand to be able to get experience
, to be able to help you becomeyour best self.
All right back into the thingsright.
I feel like when we think aboutwhere we are on our journey, so

(04:14):
often there's this comparisonthing Like this person may have
graduated the same time as me.
This person may have finishedcollege the same time as me.
This person grew up with asingle parent home just like I
did.
This person lived in the samecity as me.
Like this person has the sameresources as me, or this person

(04:37):
has more resources than me, andwe have all of the different
things that we tell ourselves interms of how come I don't have
it too, or why did I have toexperience this?
Not realizing that those areour gems, not realizing, like
those things are what we shouldhone in on.
Those things are the peoplethat we'll be able to make the

(04:59):
most impact towards, becausethere are little yous everywhere
.
There are people across theworld that are experiencing the
same things that you did 10years ago, seven years ago,
three years ago, two days ago,and we're in our feelings about
what we're going through when, through that experience, we
could actually make so much moreimpact.

(05:20):
One of the greatest takeawaysthat I've had recently is
thinking through my experience.
Through my childhood, I used toreally always say I wish I had
more resources, I had people tohelp me figure out how to become
all the things.
I had a guide.
I didn't have to be the firstin many things.

(05:42):
I always used to feel like whydo I have to be the first?
Why do I have to figure it out?
Why do I have to fix it?
But now I realize that, in myexperience through life, my
mother didn't have money, butshe had wisdom, and that wisdom
that she poured into me and mysiblings is inextinguishable for

(06:06):
money, because the reality isshe poured values in me, such as
love, such as authenticity, such as wanting more for life,
such as respect, such as classfor life, such as respect, such
as class, such as making surethat we have peace, and so I
think about all these thingsthat she instilled in me in

(06:26):
terms of values, and I recognizenow that money can't buy any of
those things.
Those are things that are in me.
It's not on me, it's in me,right?
And you have so many things inyou that you are sweeping under
the rug that you are negatingthe fact that these things have
true value.

(06:48):
These things actually can helpyou to figure out who you are
and where you want to go, notbecause you see it on Instagram
as a cool thing to do, or onLinkedIn or on Twitter or
wherever you find your socialmedia juice from YouTube, tiktok
, the phone, the newspaper, allthe places.

(07:10):
Stop looking at what societysays is right for you and start
looking at what's best for you.
Look at the inner.
You Stay still.
Figure out what really lightsup for you, what really has been
working for you, what reallyhas been a no for you, what you

(07:30):
are a yes for.
Going back to that, if youlistened to previous episodes,
know that you're a yes for thelife you're deserving of, and
recognize the experience thatyou have had that really helped
to shape you, that you reallyfelt like you couldn't get out
of and ask yourself, like, howdo I use this to live a life to
help other people?

(07:51):
Like my mom used to say it best, we are not here for ourselves,
like, and we're not going towait until things are perfect to
be able to help other people.
Like my mom used to say it best, we are not here for ourselves,
like, and we're not going towait until things are perfect to
be able to help other people, and so we have this expectation
that, once we are the bestversions of ourselves, we can do
X, y, z.
But I want you to ask yourselfwhen are you going to be the
best version of yourself If weare given another day?

(08:15):
We are constantly improving, weare constantly learning new
things about ourselves, so whyare we waiting until we get to
that day?
That will never become the day?
We need to start betting onourselves now, and so this
episode is really meant to bevery short, but really helping
you sit with yourself andrecognize that your best is your

(08:37):
best.
It's not society's best, it'snot your ultimate best.
It is meeting yourself, whereyou are current, day to day,
asking yourself what means themost to you.
How do you want to live yourlife?
What makes sense for you?
What do you need to cut out andwhat do you need to continue?

(08:57):
Cut out the fluff, cut out themuck, cut out the fat, cut out
all of the extra things that wetry to tell ourselves and make
ourselves feel better about theway that life is going.
Be honest with the things thatyou've gone through.
Be honest with the things youdid not want to go through.
Be honest with the way that youhad to work hard through

(09:18):
certain experiences andunderstand that there are other
people out there just like yougoing through those same
experiences and they don't likeit either.
Right, they don't like iteither.
So I think this episode reallyis more for someone trying to
figure out what career makes themost sense for them, what area

(09:39):
they should really alignthemselves into in terms of a
nine to five and profession, oran entrepreneur that is trying
to niche down, a communitybuilder that's trying to create
community.
Think through your experiences.
Think through the things thatreally means something to you.

(10:00):
Think through the moments thatyou wish you had someone there
to help you.
Those are the things that aregoing to help you figure out
what you want to do in your nineto five or what you want to do
in your business, because, whenit comes down to it, all of the
you's three days ago, seven daysago, seven weeks ago, seven

(10:22):
months ago, 77 days ago, whatever the case may be, I'm
going to use seven because Ilove that number.
I need you to think through howmuch you'll be able to make an
impact because you've been there, because it's important to you,
because you can speak to it.
There is no facade, there's nofaking it till you make it.
There may be a little bit oflimited release because it will

(10:43):
be something new, but know thatyou are not new to this.
You are true to this becauseyou've been through it and you
can make impact and the thingsthat you don't know, you can
learn.
Whatever the case may be,authenticity is at the forefront
.
Staying still being, stillbeing one with self really helps

(11:06):
you to better understand whereyou need to go.
And until you take the time toreally recognize your values,
where you are in terms of yourcurrent state, best, what
ultimate best looks like thejourney you have already been on
.
You are not going to be in aspace to where you feel like

(11:27):
you're in full alignment, and Iwant everyone listening to be in
full alignment with where theyare in this world, where they're
headed.
Give yourself grace.
Give those around you grace.
Have some gratitude withyourself and with other people,
because we're all trying tofigure it out Now.
Take some time to sit with self.

(11:49):
Bet on yourself.
Go after your goals because youare more than capable, and I am
so tired of you tellingyourself that you're not,
because that's a lie.
You are a yes for that life.
Now go and live that life.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
