Speaker 2 (01:13):
Hey, hey, hey.
You are now tuned in to theit's the Human Experience
podcast.
I'm your host, hazel Brown.
Today, I just wanted to takesome time to dive into life and
the waves, the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the duality
of things.
Because as we move into ournext chapters the new week, the

(01:38):
new days, the new years withtime just flying by, years with
time just flying by and socialmedia we talked a little bit
about it a few episodes agobeing a thing where we see
everyone's with their highs andsometimes you may be
experiencing your lows.
I think it's important we reallydive into the duality of things

(01:59):
and make sure that, whetheryou're going through an up
moment, a down moment or kind ofa content moment, you're able
to recognize that whatever is infront of you is in front of you
, to get you to what's in frontof you.
And I want to make sure we satin that, because you're a

(02:20):
beautiful soul, you're workingon betting on yourself, healing,
growing into the best versionof yourself, and I just want to
keep it real, I want to keep itraw, I want to lead with love
and make sure that youunderstand that as we peel back
the layers of our human journey.
You're not alone on thatjourney, and so, as we kind of

(02:43):
dive into this topic, I justwant to make sure we celebrate
the highs and the lows of life.
If it's your first time tuninginto the podcast, go ahead and
scroll up to the top and hitthat follow button.
If you're tuning in from Apple, iheart Radio, spotify, google
all the things Audible andyou're able to leave a review,

(03:06):
please make sure you scroll ondown and leave a review.
Rate us five stars, of course, but outside of that, I just want
to make sure we dive into theepisodes.
I really don't spend a lot oftime with the fluff and all the
things.
I just want to make sure thatyou're getting value and you're
growing into the highest versionof yourself.

(03:26):
Here's the truth.
We all have mountains, valleys, sunny skies, stormy days, all
the things.
But if I told you that everypeak and every tough spot wasn't
essential to you being themasterpiece that you are today

(03:47):
and will continue to evolve into, then I wouldn't be telling you
the truth.
So I want you to walk away withactionable steps to embrace and
thrive, no matter where you arein life, no matter where you
are on the journey.
So go ahead and grab your tea, your coffee, your favorite drink
, and let's just dive into life.
Right, let's dive in and unfoldall of the things I want to

(04:12):
talk about perspective.
Sometimes we watch like waveslike we're talking about the
beach here waves on the shore, and some are calm and gentle,
some are wild, overpowering.
Some you got to move back alittle bit.
Right, you were sitting thereand it seemed like you were in a
safe spot, but before you know,it kind of comes out and gets

(04:33):
you and in those instances, because of the calm that the
beach sometimes provide, maybeyou just kind of move back.
But I feel like life reallyresembles that ebb and flow
right To where sometimes thingsare calm, sometimes things are
wild, sometimes life just reallylives.
And regardless of if you're atthe peak or you're celebrating,

(04:56):
I just don't want you to bethinking to yourself that
something is wrong with you whenyou're in the valley.
Don't camp out there, don'tself-isolate, don't put yourself
in a position to where you feellike, oh my God, I'm alone,
this is happening to me.
Understand that there'ssomething that you can learn

(05:17):
from that experience, somethingthat's going to help build your
character and understand thatsometimes the waves are meant to
be written.
You can ride that wave andwithin that, you're going to
rise again.
What you believe really createsyour reality.
So if you choose to believethat your challenges are
happening right now and it'ssomething that's going to keep

(05:38):
you stuck, keep you there, thenthat is a choice.
If you choose to believe thatthat challenge is something
that's here to help shape you,to help groom you, to help get
you ready for your next level, then you can believe that.
Something that I really wantyou to take away is making sure
you journal your highs and lows.
Write down the things thatyou're grateful for when you're

(06:00):
up.
Write down the things thatyou're grateful for when you're
up.
Write down the things thatyou're grateful for when you're
down.
It's really important that werecognize that even on hard days
this too shall pass you aregrowing.
Even in your hardest days, youare growing.
You're building resilience,you're building character.
You're building strength.

(06:20):
In hindsight, you'll be able tolook back and realize what
you're capable of going through.
In foresight, you're thinking Idon't know if I could ever go
through that, but in hindsightyou know that you've been
through other things and youwill get through whatever it is
that life throws at you.
It's often the small action, thesmall steps we take while we're

(06:44):
in a period of feeling low thatreally helps us to feel less
stuck.
But growth doesn't always comefrom these big steps, these big
things that we do to get to thenext level.
It's often the small things wedo, like making sure that we go
get in our exercise, we drinkour water, we take time for rest

(07:07):
, we journal, we pray, we go totherapy, we spend time with
people we love, we take time tohonor ourselves.
Right, you call a friend, youcreate some kind of momentum,
you get out your bed, you do thethings that you need to do to
light yourself on fire.
I really want to make sure yousit in that, because it's really

(07:29):
easy to feel like power iswithin the big things.
But I want you to rememberpower is within the small
actions that we take and the wayin which we take the first step
that will unfold us to the nextstep and to the next step and
to the next step, to where wecan become the version of
ourselves that we so desperatelywant to be, because we're

(07:52):
always evolving, we're alwayslearning and the moment we
decide to sit in the dark.
That's when we get stuck and Idon't want you to get stuck.
Speaking of getting stuck, Ithink that as we think about our
journal it wouldn't be good ifI didn't actually speak on this
Many times as we're journaling,we're kind of journaling the
highs and lows, things thatwe're grateful for, things that

(08:15):
we want out of life.
But I think it's also importantto journal your mindset shifts,
like what are the actions thatyou took that made you feel
better?
Sometimes we miss that.
We just write down what we'regoing through and what we want.
But in that dark place, onceyou start to come out of it, do

(08:35):
go back and write what you didthat actually helped to shift
your mind, that actually got youout of that dark place.
Because even when we're livingon purpose, chaos still happens.
And the next time you're inthat dark space maybe a
different situation, differentpeople, different everything but

(08:56):
things still happen Life willstill life.
I want you to have a referencepoint to go back to to say hey,
last time I went through X, y, z, this is what I did.
Leave the breadcrumbs foryourself, leave the gems for the
future.
You, you think that you'veevolved and come out of
something, but many times wecircle back, especially if we

(09:18):
didn't really learn it the waywe should have learned it, and
second from that you could havea different experience.
But the same formula stillapplies the same things that
light you up and give you thecourage to keep going.
You'll need those same nuggetsto keep going because oftentimes
maybe that place, that thingthat brought you in that low,

(09:39):
low pace, may happen two yearsfrom now.
You may not always rememberwhat you did two years ago, and
that is a reason you need toleave those breadcrumbs and
those nuggets for yourself.
So write it down so that as youlook back you not only
recognize how far you came, soyou can give yourself credit,

(10:00):
but when you're in that spacewhere you need some kind of
courage, you need thatmotivation, that inspiration.
You can get it from youryounger self.
Make sure you remember thatliving on purpose doesn't mean
having it all figured out.
It doesn't mean having all theanswers.
It means being intentional withwhat you have today.

(10:22):
When life gets overwhelming, just ask yourself what's one
thing I could do today thataligns with who I am and who I
want to become?
I've shared many differentvalleys and things throughout
the podcast episodes.
But I want you to take a momentto figure out for yourself am I

(10:42):
deciding to sit in thissituation or am I going to
choose to take purposeful actionto get me one step ahead?
It's so important that werevisit our goals.
Simply sit in gratitude for thesmallest things that happen for
us, the small blessings, thesmall wins, just starting your

(11:06):
morning with one question whatcan I do to honor my purpose
today?
That is a small question to askyourself, but it really helps
to align you to what's reallyimportant for that day, for that
week, for that month, for thatquarter, for that year.
It's important to make surethat you're just not like
willy-nilly out here, goingthrough life, just doing

(11:28):
whatever.
It's really important for youto align yourself to the things
that serve purpose and providesmeaning in your life, because in
the end, that will lead tofulfillment.
Listen, we've talked a littlebit about the highs, the lows,
all of the turbulent points inlife, but I just want to make
sure we talk about somepractical tools that can really

(11:50):
help fill your toolkit.
And I often talk about creatingcommunity and I don't just
share that because I have acommunity Workplace Therapy
Experience.
Shameless plug.
Look us up on Instagram atWorkplace Therapy Experience.
You'll see some of the eventsthat we do events in Vegas as
well as in Atlanta, sodefinitely make sure you check

(12:13):
that out.
I'm sharing that becausecommunity is so important,
whether it's you going out andnetworking and finding people
that are like you so that youdon't feel alone, or you make
sure you spend time with yourbesties and friends, that you've
already created family thatreally wants to love on you,
coworkers that adore you.
Find your people.

(12:34):
There are so many ways to findyour people Get out your way,
get out your mind and just meetpeople.
I think the human connection isso important, and being able to
put yourself in positions whereyou're amongst people, that you
can share your highs and lows, create space for healing and
connection.
That, within itself, is like afree gift that we have.

(12:55):
People are everywhere.
It's just finding your peopleOutside of the community.
You know I'm going to tell you.
You know I'm going to tell youGo to therapy, get you some
therapy.
Therapy is so important.
Coaching is very important.

(13:16):
Creating that safe space tounpack your thoughts is truly
life changing and yes, I've beenthere too.
It's a game changer.
That's why I recommend it.
Listen, you are not yourcircumstances, you are not your
highs and lows.
You are resilient, you arecapable, you're a human being
that can navigate this wild ridethat we call life.
I just need you to take a deepbreath.

(13:36):
Listen, take it right now.
Pause, take a deep breath in,inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale,
inhale, exhale.
Life may not always make sense, but I promise you every step,
every stumble if that's what youwant to call it is shaping you

(13:58):
into the person that you'remeant to become.
I just want you to honor yourtruth.
Allow life to have life, acceptthe highs, accept the lows and
keep showing up for yourself.
It's okay to feel all of thefeels the highs, the lows and
everything in between, but justknow you got this.

(14:21):
