In this episode Jaclyn chats with Devon Rufo, sustainability consultant, fashion industry veteran, and post-capitalistic dreamer. Together they explore the origins of capitalism, why sustainability efforts won't save us, and the need for art and embodiment in creating a new world.
Devon Rufo is a grower, maker, and post-capitalist dreamer. A vessel for change, a conduit for imagination, and a simple brick-layer dedicated to building bridges toward a just and equitable future for all beings. Devon spent the first part of his career in the fashion industry, working in design and product development for well-known brands, from startups to fortune-500 corporations. After observing the environmental and social atrocities perpetrated by the fashion industry, he pivoted to sustainability work to try to push back against exploitation, overproduction and overconsumption. Devon is a senior consultant for one of the world’s preeminent environmental consultancies and works to to help fashion brands understand their scope of impact on the world and design holistic pathways toward bringing business into alignment with planetary and social boundaries.
