S1 (00:01):
Scripture tells us to look well to the ways of
our household. And the most important aspect of that looking
well is passing on to our children the enduring and
life changing message of the gospel. But are we doing that?
S2 (00:12):
Here to unpack present day issues from a biblical perspective
is Janet Parshall.
S1 (00:18):
According to research data compiled by Doctor George Barna of
the Christian Research Center, the overwhelming majority of American parents
today lack a biblical worldview and a robust faith that
they can pass on to their children, which could dramatically
hamper the spiritual development of the next generation. Most of
the parents of young children in America, if they were
to die today, probably would not wind up in heaven,
(00:40):
said Doctor Barna. That's a stunning statement, but evidence proves
he is correct. This all ties back to whether or
not Mom and Dad have a biblical worldview. According to
the data, a full nine out of ten parents of
children under age 13 embrace a muddled worldview that mixes
a variety of alternative life philosophies, most of which have
little to do with biblical truth. Two thirds of parents
(01:01):
of pre-teens claim to be Christian, but only 2% actually
possess a biblical worldview. Sadly, the younger the parent, the
less likely they are to have a biblical worldview. Len
Munsil is the president of Arizona Christian University, where the
center is based. He has grave concerns about these numbers
as they pose significant challenges to the nation's families and
(01:21):
its future, he stated. This latest research shows us that
the biblical worldview deficit will likely continue through another generation,
and possibly beyond, unless there is another great awakening. As
a nation, we need to take a serious look at
the spiritual formation of the next generation of children, and
do all we can to support parents as they help
(01:42):
their children navigate a culture that is increasingly devoid of
biblical truth. Doctor Barna noted A parent's primary responsibility is
to prepare a child for the life God intends for
that child. A crucial element in that nurturing is helping
the child develop a biblical worldview, the filter that causes
a person to make their choices in harmony with biblical

teachings and principles when it comes to their children's spiritual development.
Parents can't give what they don't have. Shockingly, few parents
intentionally speak to their children about beliefs and behavior based
upon a biblical worldview. Parents, this research data is a
wake up call. Deuteronomy six six and seven says, these
commandments that I give you today are to be on
(02:24):
your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them
when you sit at home and when you walk along
the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Doctor Byron is right. You can't give what you don't have.
Get into the word. Know what you believe and why
you believe it. Tell your children what you have read
in God's Word. Spend time together in it as a family.
Remember the words of Nehemiah. Fight for your families. Those
