S1 (00:02):
In the flurry of executive orders being signed by President Trump,
there was one dealing with the issue of national sovereignty
in our relationship with Israel. Let me tell you why
this is significant.

S2 (00:11):
Here to unpack present day issues from a biblical perspective
is Janet Parshall.

S1 (00:17):
On February 6th, the president signed an EO entitled Imposing
Sanctions on the International Criminal Court. In the order, it
states that the International Criminal Court is established by the
Rome Statute, has engaged in illegitimate and baseless actions targeting
America and our close ally Israel. The ICC has, without
a legitimate basis, asserted jurisdiction over and open preliminary investigations

(00:40):
concerning personnel of the United States and certain of its allies,
including Israel, and has further abused its powers by issuing
baseless arrest warrants targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and
former Minister of Defense Yoav Galant. The International Criminal Court
is an international tribunal located in The Hague, Netherlands, established
at a diplomatic conference in conference in Rome in 1998.

(01:03):
It began practicing in July of 2002. Currently, 125 nation
states are parties to the agreement. The US is not
one of those parties. The ICC sees itself as having
jurisdiction to prosecute individuals for the international crimes of genocide,
crimes against humanity, war crimes and the crime of aggression.
But as the executive order points out, the ICC has

(01:24):
no jurisdiction over the United States or Israel, as neither
country is party to the Rome Statute or a member
of the ICC. Neither country has ever recognized the ICC's jurisdiction,
and both nations are thriving democracies with militaries that strictly
adhere to the laws of war. The EO recognizes that
the ICC threatens to infringe upon the sovereignty of the

(01:44):
United States, and it undermines the critical national security and
foreign policy work of the US government and our allies,
including Israel. It also determines that any effort by the
ICC to investigate, arrest, detain or prosecute protected persons constitutes
an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and
foreign policy of the US. To that end, the EO

(02:06):
states it will sanction the ICC for any move against
the United States and our allies. The current president of
the ICC was none too happy to hear about the sanctions,
calling them serious attacks and stating that the EO was
the latest in a series of unprecedented and escalatory attacks
aiming to undermine the court's ability to administer justice. America
doesn't need the ICC to administer justice, because we have

(02:28):
our own jurisprudence that has served our nation for nearly
250 years. James Madison was right when he said, In Europe,
charters of liberty have been granted by power. America has
set the example of charters of power granted by liberty.
American sovereignty is based on liberty, the ability to govern
ourselves and the freedom to protect our allies. We do
not now, nor should we ever believe that our freedoms

(02:49):
are granted to us or protected for us by foreign entities.
Those are my thoughts. I'm Janet Parshall.
