Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…

What happens when we surrender our timelines to God's perfect timing? In this soul-stirring devotional, we journey through Joshua 14-15 to discover how Caleb's 45-year wait for his promised inheritance reveals profound truths about patience and divine timing.

At 85 years old, Caleb boldly declared, "I am just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then," before conquering the hill country God had promised him decades earlier. His unwavering faith despite the long wait parallels my own 90-year-old grandfather's remarkable vitality.

These stories illuminate a counter-cultural truth: age truly is nothing but a number in God's economy. While we often struggle waiting mere months for answered prayers, both Caleb and my grandfather demonstrate how patience cultivates deeper faith.

Ready to discover how patience creates space for faith and opens doors to unexpected blessings? Listen now, and join me in embracing the waiting seasons with renewed purpose and trust.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, hello.
You're listening to the JesseMorgan Devotions for the
Christian Heart Podcast, episode47.
This week's devotional istitled God Age Ain't Nothin' but
a Number Joshua 14 and 15.
So excited, let's go.
Hi, I'm Jesse Morgan.
I used to just share home decorand renovation tips on social
media, but now I'm sharingsomething even closer to my

(00:21):
heart my journey and love forJesus Christ, my Savior.
Welcome to the Jesse MorganDevotions for the Christian Hot
Podcast.
This is a weekly devotional.
I started back in May 2024, butthe inspiration for it came
much earlier.
It was rooted in a faithjourney that began when my
daughter was born, four monthsearly in 2023.
Through that challenging time, god worked in ways that truly

(00:43):
amazed me.
On this podcast, I sharepersonal stories of faith, woven
together with scripture, toshow just how incredible God's
word can be in our everydaylives.
My hope is that through thesestories, you'll be encouraged,
uplifted and reminded of God'slove and presence, no matter
what you're going through.
So I invite you to spend lessthan 15 minutes with me each

(01:05):
week as we reflect on thesedevotionals together.
Let's all pray within.
God age ain't nothing but anumber Key passages Joshua 14
and 15.
Hey everyone, welcome back toJesse Morgan Podcast.
I'm so glad you're here todaybecause this episode is one that

(01:26):
really hit my heart in aspecial way, made my heart smile
a bit.
You know the saying age ain'tnothing but a number, and as I
was reading through Joshua 14and 15 this week, that phrase
just immediately came to mind.
We've been studying how God, youknow, divided up the promised

(01:46):
land among the 12 tribes ofIsrael, and the level of detail
in these chapters is just insane.
The Bible tells us exactly whogot what, right down to the
landmarks like the river and theDead Sea.
At first glance, all thesedetails might seem unnecessary.
Like Lord, why are we spendingall this time on specifics?

(02:09):
Can't we just skip ahead to thegood part?
But the truth is, god isintentional.
He's detailed in his plans, notjust for the Israelites but for
us too.
And sometimes the details, thewaiting, the challenges, the
unexpected detours are exactlywhere God blesses us the most.

(02:31):
And that's where I want tobring the story of my
grandfather in.
But before we talk about him, let's go back in time and talk
about Caleb.
Caleb is just a story of faithand patience.
Do you remember Caleb?
In Numbers 14, 6 through 9, heand Joshua were two of the 12

(02:57):
spies Moses sent into Canaan tolook at the land.
The spy on the land.
When they returned, 10 spieswere filled with fear, talking
about how the enemy was too big,too strong, too impossible to
defeat.
But Caleb and Joshua stood firm.
They had faith.
They knew God could do theimpossible and deliver this land

(03:19):
.
Because of their faith, caleband Joshua, they were the only
two from their generation whoactually got to enter the
promised land.
The rest, remember they didn'tmake it because they had doubted
.
Now listen to this All of thisscouting the land.

(03:39):
When he was a spy with Joshua,he was 40 years old.
A spy with Joshua, he was 40years old.
Now fast forward to Joshua 14,he is now 85.
That means that for 45 yearsCaleb has wandered the
wilderness.
He crossed the Jordan, hefought numerous battles and

(04:03):
waited for his promise to cometo pass to inherit land.
That's what Moses had told himdue to his faith back when he
was a spy.
And when the time finally camefor Caleb to inherit his land,
his land was still occupied.
But Caleb didn't say was stilloccupied.

(04:28):
But Caleb didn't say I'm tooold for this.
No, he didn't.
He said to Joshua in 14, 10through 12, now.
Then, just as the Lord promised,he kept me alive for 45 years
since the time he said this toMoses, while Israel moved about
in the wilderness.
So here I am today, moved aboutin the wilderness.
So here I am today, 85 yearsold.

(04:49):
I am still as strong today asthe day Moses sent me out.
I'm just as vigorous to go outto battle now as I was then.
Now, give me this hill countrythat the Lord promised me that
day.
You yourself heard that thenthat the Agonites were there and
their city were large andfortified.
But the Lord helping me, I willdrive them out, just as he said

(05:09):
.
He told Joshua, just as strongas now as I was then, let me go
take my land.
And at 85 years old, caleb wentin and drove out the enemies
from a fortified land that Godhad promised him.

(05:30):
He didn't let age stop him.
He trusted God's timing.
So on to my grandfather, nowliving proof that age ain't
nothing but a number, andeveryone.
Like I said, my wonderfulgrandfather is 90 years old.
He is an amazing human being.
Many of you know he lost thelove of his life, my grandmother

(05:53):
, in December of 2024.
And it's been a toughtransition.
But even through grief, hisstrength, patience and work
ethic inspire me every singleday.
This man has never let agedefine him.
I've seen it my whole life.
Back when I moved to DC in 2011,my mom, my grandmother and

(06:15):
grandfather came to help me moveinto an apartment on the fifth
floor with no elevator yes, youheard me, no elevator Five
flights of stairs.
We had movers, two young men, strong guys, carrying the
furniture up all those stairs.
And you know who was rightthere with them my grandfather,

(06:37):
who was 76 at the time.
Not only was he carrying things, but he was teaching those
young guys how to do it properly.
They were blown away saying MrFloyd, you're in better shape
than we are.
Man, that day, my grandfatherat one point carried four chairs
up the stairs, back to back toback to back, didn't even sweat,

(07:00):
didn't seem out of breath oranything my gosh.
And then another story I'llnever forget is back in 2015.
My family did a walk to supportmy dad who has multiple
sclerosis.
It was a three mile walk.
My grandfather, at 80 years old, walked the entire thing and he

(07:21):
wasn't last either.
He was moving Even just a monthago when I got my new floors
installed in my house and thisis in 2025, this story my
grandfather showed up for threedays straight just to supervise
while I was out and about withmy daughter for some errands and
her therapy and things.

(07:41):
One afternoon I came home and Icouldn't find him Y'all.
I go outside and see him in thegarage.
He had cleaned and organized myentire garage by himself in
just like two hours, at 90 yearsold.
I was like grandfather, whatare you doing?
He responded, saying kittenthat's what he calls us as a pet

(08:05):
name kitten your garage neededto get cleaned up Now.
You better keep it this way,all right?
And I was like, oh okay, thanks, grandfather.
So you know, my grandfatherreminds me so much of Caleb.
He's always been patient, always taken his time to figure

(08:25):
things out, never rushing, butwas always persistent, and you
know what?
That's the kind of faith weneed to have.
Waiting on God's promises isn'teasy.
Caleb waited 45 years, yet westruggle to wait four months for
something we've been prayingfor, right, I get it.
It's hard, but think about thelast time you waited for

(08:47):
something and, when it finallycame, how gratifying it was for
that timeframe.
Now look back.
God was in the middle of that.
So time, as I can see it, and asI feel these days, time is one
of the biggest things that cantest your faith.
It can wear down your patience, make us question God's plan and

(09:10):
push us towards doubt, butthat's why we have to be
steadfast.
So today, I want to leave youwith this Don't let age define
you.
It doesn't determine your past, your present or your future.
It's not a setback, it's ablessing.
Your experiences, your wisdom, your endurance, they matter.
Be like Caleb, keep your faith,no matter how long it takes.

(09:33):
Be like my grandfather Keeppushing, keep learning, keep
serving, no matter your age, and, most of all, be patient.
God's timing is always perfect.
Let's pray, father.
We thank you so much for thegift of age and the power of
patience.
We thank you for always workingin perfect timing.

(09:56):
Lord, I pray that everyonelistening this week truly
understands what patience canbring, that patience makes space
for faith and faith opens thedoor to blessings.
Thank you for this incrediblestudy of Joshua.
Thank you for Caleb's example, his unwavering patience, his
boldness to stand for you andhis obedience that led to the

(10:18):
fulfillment of your promises forhim.
May we learn from his faith andtrust in your perfect plan.
We love you and we praise you,and we thank you for all you've
done.
In Jesus' name, we pray Amen.
God bless you all Till nexttime.
Well, that wraps up this week'sepisode.
I hope these devotions help youdraw closer to God each day.

(11:23):
This has been such a blessingand so fun to share some really
cool stories about mygrandfather.
My grandfather was just such acreative, hardworking person.
He always cared about hisfamily.
That was just that's what heput first.
He put grandma first, theirentire marriage, and he did the
same thing with my mom and myaunt, with his grandchildren,
with his friends, with hisfamily, with his mother.

(11:45):
I think that's what makes mygrandfather so special and he's
just so such an amazing person.
And I remember one time.
I remember one time I was inelementary school and my
grandfather used to pick me upfrom school all the time and we
would go to McDonald's and playthat Monopoly game with
McDonald's and we were alwayshoping that we would get

(12:07):
Broadway I mean boardwalk, sorry, get the boardwalk stamp
because we always got park placeso we could win a million
dollars.
We had never happened, but Iremember one time he picked, he
was picking me up.
He wasn't supposed to pick meup that way.
That day my dad was supposed topick me up and I remember there
was this boy in my elementaryclass.

(12:28):
He was so cute I'm not going tosay his name because who knows
and I had the biggest crush onhim.
And finally, one day somebodywas like, yeah, that's Jessica

(12:53):
and the guy.
And he was like oh, hi.
And I'm like hi.
And they were like, yeah, youknow, just, his dad played for
the Dolphins and you know allthat type of stuff.
And I was like, yeah, he played.
And he's like, yeah, dad has anew car.
And I was like, yeah, my dadhas a new F-150 truck and it's
red.
That's so awesome.
You know, it was after schooland I was waiting for my dad to
pick me up because my dad hadhis new truck.
Well, my dad didn't come pickme up.
My grandfather picked me up andmy grandfather had a red F-150
1970 something beat up old truckbecause he always used it,
because he was always a handymanman.

(13:14):
My grandfather pulled up inthat and the boy looked at me
like, uh okay, I was soembarrassed and I remember I got
in the car and I said, grandfather, just drive off.
And he's like, what's wrong,kid?
And I said you weren't supposedto pick me up today.
Oh my gosh, that was like thefirst time I was mortified in

(13:37):
front of a boy and it was withmy grandfather.
Oh my gosh, I just, I justthink about how dumb that is now
.
But my grandfather was ateverything.
He has every milestone.
He's an amazing human being.
He taught all of us how todrive my, you know, my cousins,
my husband, me.
He taught my mom and my aunthow to drive.

(14:01):
He was always the person thattaught everyone how to drive.
He was just always that person.
Something's broken.
We call him to try to fix it.
You know, grandfather is just,he's just reliable, reliable,
smart and just sharp as ever.
So I just wanted to give ashout out to him.
Grandfather, I love you and Iappreciate you, and God bless

(14:24):
and everybody God bless.
Have a wonderful week.
Sometimes you just have to havea fun moment to just smile and
laugh.
