Day #11 The countdown to Christmas can blur into noise, but the story of John the Baptist cuts through with a clear, urgent melody: prepare the way for the King. We dive into Luke 1:5–25 to trace the miracle behind John’s birth, the meaning of his name, and the mission that shaped his life—and ours. More than a historical prelude, John’s calling becomes a template for modern faith: announce the good news, prepare hearts with grace, and point every gaze toward Jesus.

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hello, hello.
This is Jesse Morgan Devotionsfor the Christian Heart Podcast.
Welcome, welcome.
This year I'm bringing my 25-dayChristmas devotional to life in
a new way.
Beginning on day 11 through day25, each devotional entry now
has a matching mini podcastepisode, a simple 8 to 10 minute
reflection designed to help youslow down and truly sit with the

(00:22):
story of Jesus' birth.
Each episode clearly follows thesame day as the written
devotional, so day 11 in thebook is day 11 on the podcast
and so forth.
My hope is that these dailyaudio reflections make the
journey to Christmas feel evenmore personal, peaceful, and
meaningful.
Thank you for being here.
Let's go.

(00:46):
Hello and welcome back to theJesse Morgan Devotion for the
Christian Heart Christmasdevotional series.
Today is day 11, and just likeit's written in the devotion,
the written devotional on day11, we are continuing our daily
walk through the story of Jesus'birth.
Let's begin.
Key passages is Luke 1, 5through 25.
And today we'll be focusing inon John the Baptist.

(01:08):
And the question is, are you aherald?
So have you ever thought aboutwhat it means to be a herald for
Christ?
From every from the verybeginning, God's desire has been
the same.
Every person born into thisworld is created in his image,
invited to glorify him, to knowhim, to walk with him, and to be
filled with his spirit afterreceiving Christ as Savior.

(01:30):
And when we receive the HolySpirit, we don't just become
believers, we become heralds.
And just hear me out.
A herald is someone whoannounces, prepares, and points
the way toward the King.
And that is exactly what we arecalled to do.
We witness, we testify, we makehis name known.
We help prepare hearts for theone who came to save, which is

(01:52):
Jesus.
In scripture, the first and mostpowerful example of a true
herald is John the Baptist.
That's our focus for today.
John's entire life, even hisbirth, was a miracle, positioned
to prepare the world for Jesus.
His story reminds us that beforeJesus began his ministry, God
sent someone ahead of him tomake the path straight, to call

(02:14):
people to repent and to and tobe ready, and to basically ready
their hearts for the coming ofthe King.
That was John's assignment, andnow it's ours too.
As Christians, we get to be partof the greatest story ever told,
the story of Jesus Christ.
His birth marks the beginning ofthat story.
His cross reveals the depth ofhis love and his resurrection

(02:37):
seals our salvation.
But the world cannot know thatunless someone points that way.
This Christmas season, we arebeing basically this Christmas
season, are you being a herald?
Are you celebrating his birthand helping others understand
what comes next?
The salvation he purchased forus?
Just as God used John theBaptist, he wants to use you.

(03:00):
Remember the miraclessurrounding John's birth.
Let's get back to that storyreal quick.
Zechariah and Elizabeth wereelderly and without children.
Yet God sent the angel Gabrielto tell Zechariah that Elizabeth
would bear a son, and they wereto name him John.
Even in his naming, his role wasestablished.
John would prepare people forthe Messiah.

(03:23):
And now we are called to do thesame.
So this Christmas, don't justcelebrate the nativity,
celebrate the calling that comeswith it.
Be a herald, prepare the way, appoint people to the King who
came, who died, and who rose forus.
And let's start by sharing thebirth of Jesus Christ.
Let's pray.

(03:44):
Heavenly Father, thank you forthis beautiful day and for the
story of John the Baptist, thefirst herald of our King.
Help us to celebrate the birthof Christ with joy, but also
with purpose.
Give us boldness, Lord, and loveto prepare others to understand
who Jesus is and what he came todo.
Let us be modern-day heraldsjust like John.

(04:05):
We love you and we praise you inJesus' name.
Amen.
Thank you for listening.
This episode is part of myChristmas devotional series

Christmas, a scriptured-filledjourney preparing our hearts to

I invite you to read along andreflect on his story in a deeper
way.
Details in the show notes forthe written devotional.

(04:28):
And it also says in scripture, glory to God in the highest, and
on earth, peace, goodwilltowards men.
Luke 2, 14.
And don't miss the nextreflection in this Christmas
series by subscribing to thepodcast to continue walking
through God's word this season.
