Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…

Have you ever doubted that God is paying attention to the details of your life? Joshua chapters 19-21 reveal a God who meticulously keeps track of every promise, every city, every border—and fulfills them all with perfect precision.

Walking through three powerful chapters in Joshua, this episode explores God's remarkable attention to detail in land distribution, His compassionate provision of refuge cities for those who made mistakes, and His strategic placement of the Levites throughout Israel to ensure everyone had access to spiritual guidance. As Jessi beautifully compares, God positioned His priests like "Starbucks in New York City"—always within reach when you need a spiritual refill.

Hi, I'm Jesse Morgan.

(00:21):
heart my journey and love forJesus Christ, my Savior.
Welcome to the Jesse MorganDevotions for the Christian Hot
Podcast.
This is a weekly devotional.
I started back in May 2024, butthe inspiration for it came
much earlier.
It was rooted in a faithjourney that began when my
daughter was born four monthsearly in 2023.
Through that challenging time, god worked in ways that truly

(00:43):
amazed me.
On this podcast, I sharepersonal stories of faith, woven
together with scripture to showjust how incredible God's word
can be in our everyday lives.
My hope is that through thesestories, you'll be encouraged,
uplifted and reminded of God'slove and presence, no matter
what you're going through.
So I invite you to spend lessthan 15 minutes with me each

(01:05):
week as we reflect on thesedevotionals together.
Let's all pray within.
It's all in the details.
Refill anyone.
Episode 49.
Hey everyone, welcome back tothe podcast.
Can you believe we are almostdone, or we are almost at the
end of the book of Joshua.

(01:26):
I cannot believe it.
Thank you so much for takingthis journey with me.
You guys, I have never read orstudied Joshua before, ever.
This was my very first time and, wow, what a blessing it has
been.
This week we're covering threechapters Joshua 19, 20, and 21.

(01:49):
And let me tell you there arethree special lessons here that,
honestly, each can stand on itsown, but it also feels like
they all connect so beautifullytogether as well.
So let's dive in.
So, starting off with Joshua 19.
Now Joshua 19 focuses on yep,you guessed it the allotment of

(02:13):
land, the continuation ofallotment of land.
Remember, in the previouschapters, the book of Joshua
covered three specific tribesand the land they received,
which was Judah, ephraim andManasseh.
And, just as a quick reminder,a little history here.
The tribes of Israel were namedafter Jacob's sons.

(02:34):
Jacob, who God later renamedIsrael, had 12 sons, and each of
those sons became a tribe.
And I want to point outsomething really important here
Joseph, who was one of the mostwell-known of Jacob's sons
remember, he became second incommand in Egypt didn't have a
tribe directly named after him.

(02:55):
Instead, his portion was splitbetween his two sons, ephraim
and Manasseh.
I just wanted to make sure thatwe were super clear and in case
I hadn't mentioned that before,so back to chapter 29.
After those three tribes gottheir land earlier, this chapter
tells us about the rest of thetribes finally receiving their

(03:18):
promised land from the LordSimeon Dan, Zel, bulan, eshachar
, asher, nephetali, and thenfinally, that special someone
who isn't part of Jacob's sonsor the tribes, but Joshua
himself.
Joshua was allotted land toobecause of his faith and his
leadership in God and, you know, guiding God's people, and you

(03:42):
know what guys.
Chapter 19 goes into extremedetail.
It lists every single tribe, every city and every border that
they received, down to theexact diameters of what the
tribe got, and all these justdifferent details.
The clarity was like impeccableand like incredible to read.

(04:02):
Now you might be wondering, jesse, what's so deep about
chapter 19?
And here's what stood out to methe details.
God promised his people thisland, a land flowing with milk
and honey, and he promised it toAbraham generations before this
moment.

(04:23):
Look at Genesis 17, 8.
It says the whole land ofCanaan, god.
It says the whole land ofCanaan.
God said to Abraham the wholeland of Canaan, where you now
reside as a foreigner, I willgive as an everlasting
possession to you and yourdescendants after you.
I will be their God.
And guess what?
God kept his promise, everysingle detail.

(04:44):
What a God we serve, right?
If God kept track of all thesepromises, down to the borders
and city names, why would weever doubt that he would keep
his promises to us?
So you know, god doesn't forgetdetails.
You know and this makes me thinkabout back when I was looking

(05:05):
for a new job while I was stillat my old job, macy's and, to be
clear, macy's treated me well.
To this day, I am not adisgruntled ex-employee.
Actually, in 2019 and 2020, Iwas basically on deck to
becoming a store director, orstore manager, as they call it.
I was just waiting for theright location to open up so I

(05:27):
could step into that role.
But, if I'm being honest, Istarted realizing that the time
and energy needed for that jobjust wasn't aligning with what I
wanted personally anymore, so Istarted looking elsewhere in
2019.
I wanted personally anymore, soI started looking elsewhere in
2019.
I looked at tons of retail jobsat Sephora, target, saks, which

(05:47):
actually offered me anassistant store manager role in
Beverly Hills yes, lushCosmetics, neiman Marcus, ulta
Beauty, you name it.
Some offers came through, othersdid not work out and after
months of searching, I startedfeeling discouraged.
I had prayed at the start of mysearch, believing I would find
the perfect role, but thingsweren't happening the way I

(06:08):
thought they would.
And then 2020 hit, and so didCOVID.
You can imagine how I felt, butI kept pushing.
I told my husband I was goingto keep going and keep looking,
pushing.
I told my husband I was goingto keep going and keep looking.
To be honest, I started towonder God, did you forget about
me?
But then, in late 2020, my bestfriend from college, chris

(06:29):
Rogers shout out to him calledme.
He had just started working fora major tech company.
I had never heard of thembefore.
I didn't know anything abouttech except Apple and the term
Silicon Valley, right.
But Chris asked me, basicallycalled me one day and asked me
Jess, what would it takemoney-wise for you to leave

(06:52):
Macy's?
My ears perked up.
I looked at him and I told himthe number and, honestly, I
didn't think anything would comefrom it.
But a week later, I wasinterviewing with his boss and
y'all.
After one interview, they hiredme.
I left Macy's on December 9thof 2020 and started my new role

(07:14):
December 14th.
God didn't forget me.
He fulfilled every detail of myprayer too A remote job, higher
pay, great health insurance, agood boss.
God fulfilled all of it.
He remembered every detail.
So now let's go on to Joshua, chapter 20.

(07:35):
Cities of Refuge.
This is a very interestingchapter.
This chapter focuses onsomething so beautiful and it's
refuge.
As they said earlier, they weretowns God set aside in chapter
20 specifically for people whohad accidentally made a mistake
Not on purpose, but truly anaccident.

(07:56):
These cities were places ofsafety and protection, and I
just love that God dedicated anentire chapter to this idea.
It shows how compassionate andmerciful it is.
It shows how humans us as manmake mistakes.
Back then, these cities ofrefuge were literally places you

(08:18):
can run to for safety, buttoday, jesus is our ultimate
refuge.
We don't have to run to aphysical city, we run to Jesus.
He welcomes us with open arms.
When you accept him as yoursavior, it's like making a
reservation in the safest citythere is his grace.
Just to think about that, itjust gives me a little bit of

(08:38):
chills.
All right now, ready to beblessed again.
Focusing now on Joshua 21,.
The Levites portion this is theonly tribe that we haven't
talked about with theirallotment.
So now in this chapter, wefocus on, like we said, the
Levites, which is the priestlytribe.
The Levites were different fromthe other tribes because they

(08:59):
didn't get land per se in thetraditional sense.
They weren't allotted land likethe others.
Instead, god gave them 48cities scattered throughout the
other tribes' territories.
Why?
Because their true inheritancewasn't land, it was God himself.
Look at Deuteronomy 10, 8through 9.

(09:20):
And it says at that time, theLord set apart the tribe of Levi
to carry the Ark of theCovenant of the Lord, to stand
before the Lord, to minister andto pronounce blessings in his
name, as they still do today.
That is why the Levites have noshare or inheritance among the
fellow Israelites.
The Lord is their inheritance.

(09:41):
Isn't that beautiful?
Is their inheritance?
Isn't that beautiful, I mean?
And all those 48 cities werespread out so that everyone
could have access to a priest,to spiritual guidance, no matter
where they lived.
It kind of reminds me of when Imoved to New York back in 2013.
This is going to be a weirdanalogy, but I think it fits.

(10:03):
I was shocked when I firstmoved here of how short the
blocks were compared to MiamiFlorida.
And let me tell you, the amountof Starbucks on every corner
when I was there was insane.
I mean, I literally counted asI walked from 34th Street to
96th Street.

(10:24):
Seems like a long walk, butthat wasn't bad.
Honestly, I counted 30Starbucks like 30, wild.
But you know what, if youreally needed coffee, there was
always a Starbucks close by.
And that's how God positionedthe Levites, so that, no matter

(10:44):
where you were, you always hadaccess to someone serving God
directly.
Today, we don't need a priestor a Levite to access God.
But you know what, just likethose Starbucks on every corner,
god is always available to you.
Spend time with him, get thatboost, refill your spirit.

(11:05):
He's everywhere.
And so now, as we wrap up thisfinal portion of this lesson
today, I just want to read thisbeautiful verse that concluded
Joshua 21.
It's Joshua 21, 45.
And it says not one of all theLord's good promises to Israel

(11:28):
failed.
Every one was fulfilled.
I'm going to read that againNot one of all the Lord's good
promises to Israel failed.
Every one was fulfilled.
Wow, god fulfills his promises, god pays attention to every

(11:49):
detail and God provides refugewhen we make mistakes, and God
is always near.
Amen, let's pray.
Lord, thank you for being a Godof details, thank you for being
a promise keeper.
Thank you for being our refugeand our safe place.

(12:12):
Remind us daily that you arenear, you are for us and you
never forget us.
Fulfill your promises in ourlife.
Lord, we thank you so much forthis amazing lesson and we thank
you so much for that boost thatyou give us every day and how
spending time with you.

(12:33):
You are refilling our cup andwe just adore you, lord, and we
thank you for always keeping upwith every single detail of what
we need in life.
Father, we love you and Father,we praise you in Jesus name.
Amen.
I'll see you next week, guys,as we conclude our study of

(12:53):
Joshua, and I have a littlespecial surprise as well, god

the Scenes, starting right now.
Hello, hello, welcome back.
This is Behind the Scenes.
I just wanted to come on hereand personally thank everybody
for their support with thispodcast.

(14:01):
I am recording my 49th episoderight now, which is so crazy to
believe.
It will be a year in May that Istarted this journey of this
podcast and I hope that even 10seconds of this podcast, if it
has inspired you, it has blessedyou, obviously through God

(14:27):
using me.
I am just grateful.
Next week is the 50th and Ihave a little special surprise
that I'm going to have with thisepisode so excited about that.
But I just wanted to reflectagain on just where I've come
with this podcast and I listenedto like my first episode and

(14:47):
it's so funny because I feellike I sound really different
compared to now.
I feel a little bit morerelaxed now but I'm just so
grateful.
My daughter has inspired me toput my faith and trust in God
completely.
It has not been easy.
There have been really toughtimes, obviously, with her in
the hospital.
When she was born I had nothingbut my faith.

(15:08):
Me and my husband had nothingbut our faith.
But that was enough and shepulled through and she's doing
great.
And you know, now she's almostwalking, which is insane to
think, and she's, you know, trying to work on her language
and things like that.
And and you know, there'sthere's times where you know,

(15:29):
kind of the therapists are like,oh, she's a little delayed, and
I have to just remember thatshe's delayed in their eyes but
in God she's on time, you know, and my husband keeps me grounded
with that thought process.
But it's just been such anamazing experience being able to
talk to you all every week, sharing some of the stories of

(15:53):
my life and my family's life andfriends and things like that,
and being able to intertwine itwith scripture, and I'm just so
excited that I feel like I'mgrowing this way too,
spiritually, which is such ablessing.
And I'm just excited of what'sto come with this podcast and
you know if you have enjoyed it,you know.

(16:14):
You know, leave me a message, let me know, and let me know how
I can support you better.
Let me know if you want me tospeak on something specific, if
you just want to leave a review, that helps me so much as well.
But God bless everyone.
Have a wonderful week and Ican't wait till next week with
the 50th episode.
Stay tuned, god bless, keep Godfirst.
