Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…

Have you ever skimmed past biblical chapters filled with names and land divisions to get to the "good parts"? That's exactly what I used to do with Joshua 12 and 13—until one verse stopped me in my tracks and completely transformed how I understand faith.

God tells Joshua something remarkable: "Allocate this land as an inheritance even though it's still occupied. I myself will drive out the enemies." Wait—plan the victory celebration before the battle is won? Divide the land while enemies still live there? This isn't just ancient history; it's a spiritual blueprint for our lives today.

Through this powerful scripture and my personal wedding disaster story—where my mom calmly planned seating charts while we faced a $10,000 budget shortfall with just days to go—we discover what faith really looks like in action. It means stepping forward when our human logic says "wait."

Ready to stop waiting for evidence before believing? Listen now to discover how faith means projecting the blessing before it arrives.

Key passages:

Joshua 12

Joshua 13

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, hello.
You're listening to the JesseMorgan Devotions for the
Christian Heart Podcast, episode46.
This week's devotional istitled Plan for the Victory
Already Joshua 12 and 13.
Let's go.
Hi.
I'm Jesse Morgan.
I used to just share home decorand renovation tips on social
media, but now I'm sharingsomething even closer to my

(00:21):
heart my journey and love forJesus Christ, my Savior.
Welcome to the Jesse MorganDevotions for the Christian Hot
Podcast.
This is a weekly devotional.
I started back in May 2024, butthe inspiration for it came
much earlier.
It was rooted in a faithjourney that began when my
daughter was born, four monthsearly in 2023.
Through that challenging time, god worked in ways that truly

(00:43):
amazed me.
On this podcast, I sharepersonal stories of faith, woven
together with scripture to showjust how incredible God's word
can be in our everyday lives.
My hope is that through thesestories, you'll be encouraged,
uplifted and reminded of God'slove and presence, no matter
what you're going through.
So I invite you to spend lessthan 15 minutes with me each

(01:05):
week as we reflect on thesedevotionals together.
Let's all pray within Plan forthe victory already, episode 46,
key passages Joshua 12 andJoshua 13.
Hey, everyone, welcome back tothe podcast.
I'm so happy to have you here.
So let's dive into Joshua 12 and13.

(01:26):
These are the kind of chaptersthat, if you're, if I'm being
honest, if we're really beinghonest, sometimes I feel like
they're just listing facts withno real storytelling.
And if you're like me, when Iwas younger, I'd skim over these
kinds of sections in the Bibleto get to the good stuff the
stories of Moses, of course, joshua, joseph, david, you name

(01:46):
it.
But this week somethingunexpected happened.
These chapters actually blessedme in a way I didn't see coming
.
You see, joshua 12 gives us abreakdown of Moses conquering
land on the east side of theJordan, while Joshua takes on
the west.
Then in Joshua 13, it'sbasically discussing land

(02:07):
assignment who gets what, whereand how within the promised land
.
On the surface, it might seemlike a lot of just details and
overall facts, but then therewas this one verse that stood
out to me.
But before I read it, joshua13.1 sets up Joshua 13.6.
That blew me away, in myopinion.
So let's check it out.

(02:28):
Let's read Joshua 13.1 says whenJoshua had grown old, the Lord
said to him you are now very oldand there are still very large
areas of land to be taken over.
So now let's go to Joshua 13, 6, where it says as for all the
inhabitants of the mountainregions from Lebanon to Meshach

(02:51):
Maim that is, all of theSidonians, I myself will drive
them out before the Israelites.
Be sure to allocate this landto Israel for an inheritance, as
I have instructed you.
Did you catch that?
Especially that last part, where it says I myself will
drive them out before theIsraelites.

(03:11):
Be sure to allocate this landto Israel for inheritance, as I
have instructed you.
Did you catch that?
God is telling Joshua there'sstill land that needs to be
conquered, but to go ahead anddivide it up anyway.
He's saying the land is stilloccupied, but claim it now.

(03:32):
I will drive them out myself, like God is going to drive him
out himself.
Whoa, that hit me.
God was telling them, ortelling, to plan ahead for
victory, to take ownership ofwhat was already theirs, even
before they could see it.
And that got me thinking.

(03:53):
How often do we hesitate tomove forward because we can't
see how God is going to work itall out?
Faith means projecting theblessing before it arrives.
Faith means projecting theblessing before it arrives.
It means preparing for thevictory even when it's not in
our own hands yet, and sometimesit means making the seating
chart for a wedding you're notsure you can afford.

(04:17):
Let me explain.
When my husband and I wereplanning our wedding, I really
wanted to have it in Orlando, florida, not Miami.
Miami would have been too big,too expensive, and I had this
dream of being on Disneyproperty for the festivities.
So we booked the venue, set thebudget and planned for 70
guests, but then my momsuggested inviting more people,

(04:41):
just so they feel included, evenif they couldn't make it.
So I sent out 180 invitations, thinking we still land somewhere
near 70.
Well, 135 people RSVP'd.
Yeah, that was 65 more peoplethan we had budgeted for, and
that meant we were suddenly overbudget by like $10,000.

(05:03):
And the bill the week of thewedding the bill the week of the
wedding was due.
So we had basically like threeweeks out to come up with this,
because that's when we had likefinalized the guest list.
I was stressed I didn't havethe money, my family didn't have

(05:26):
that money.
I remember sitting in my bedroomat home feeling completely
defeated, but my mom she wascool, as ever.
She looked at me and she saiddon't worry, god will take care
of it.
Now let's talk about placesettings and the seating chart.
I thought she had lost her mind.
How could she be planning forsomething we couldn't afford?

(05:49):
But she just kept saying Jess,no worries, it'll work itself
out, god will take care of it.
And you know what?
The Monday before our wedding, just days before we had to leave
for Orlando, some close friendsstepped in.
They had heard about thewedding and, without us even

(06:11):
asking, they lent my parents themoney to cover the overage.
I was floored.
I fell to my knees in mybedroom and I just cried.
My parents never doubted, mymom never wavered, and looking
back, I see it so clearly now.
She was already planning forthe victory, just like Joshua

(06:32):
was dividing the land before thebattle was even won.
That's faith, guys.
It's faith.
That's what God was teaching usand that's what God was
teaching Joshua too.
You don't wait until the victoryto prepare.
You prepare because you knowthe victory is coming.

(06:52):
Even when you can't see it,even when it looks impossible,
even when there are stillobstacles in the way, god is
already making a way.
Israel has been fighting battleafter battle, at this point
seeing God's deliverance in realtime.
But this time God was tellingthem.

(07:13):
You don't even have to fightfirst, just claim it it's yours.
So let me ask you what are youwaiting to see before you
believe?
Are you holding back fromstepping into something because
the obstacle seems too big?
Are you hesitating to moveforward because you don't have
all the answers?
God is saying go ahead, takethe next step, plan for the

(07:39):
victory, because he's alreadyfighting for you.
So this week, let's stepforward in faith.
Let's prepare, not out of fearbut an expectation, because the
same God who went before Joshuais the same God who goes before
us.
Who went before Joshua is thesame God who goes before us, and

(08:03):
that that's a promise we canstand on.
Look at 1 Corinthians, 15, 57.
It says but thanks be to God,he gives us the victory through
our Lord Jesus Christ.
And let's look at Deuteronomy24.
For the Lord, your God, is theone who goes with you to fight
for you against your enemies, togive you victory.

(08:25):
Amen, let's pray.
Heavenly Father, I thank youfor this incredible study of
Joshua 12 and 13.
Lord, thank you for alreadygiving us the victory.
Thank you for going before usand securing the win.
We only need to put our faithin you.
I pray that everyone islistening.

(08:46):
Everyone that's listening isinspired and blessed by this
message.
Father, we love you, we trustyou and we praise you in Jesus
name, amen.

This is Jessi Morgan prayingoff Jesse Morgan Devotions
behind the scenes, startingright now.

(10:16):
So, yeah, kind of wanted tobreak down a little bit of the
wedding drama that I wentthrough.
I know these past couple ofweeks I've been sharing a little
bit about the wedding situation.
So, yeah, just imagine, youknow I went through the
situation with the bridesmaidthat was my first event
coordinator and she, you know, used up my credit card and drove

(10:41):
it up to 14,000.
So I was dealing with that atthe time.
Dealing with that at the timeand then finding out that I have
65 additional guests, like itwas just I was just really
stressed and um, but my mom wasjust the constant there and she

(11:02):
was.
She really guys, seriously, shewas like, okay, so yeah, I got
my dress, you got yours, we,we're gonna go pick it up.
And then grandma said she'llhem the girls, the bridesmaids,
dresses if they need to, andlike she was just planning.
If people don't know, you knowpeople that know my mom, she was
an event planner, so she thinksof everything.
But she literally was like, okay, you do this and you do

(11:22):
that, and when's Lorna coming in, and when's Adrian?
I know she's flying fromEngland.
You know, like all mybridesmaids, like she just was.
So she was planning everythingand she just was on it and she
was just in a great mood and I'msitting there looking at her
like we're like 10 days out andwe don't have this money and I'm
like what is going on?
You know, and I just sometimesyou as a you know, as a believer

(11:47):
, you need to have companionship, you need to have people in
your corner that are going tohelp you, hold you accountable
to your faith and kind of bethere standing in that gap for
you when maybe you're wavering abit.
And my mom was definitely thatat that point in time, my dad
was too.
So yeah, it was pretty crazy, but it was so.

(12:09):
It was so neat because theplace that we had the wedding
was at Wyndham um Bonnet Creekand it was beautiful hotel and
resort and they were so nice, like even the accounting people
were nice, like to, you know, toexpect payment, and they said
to us in the end they said youguys were so easy to work with
and like you paid on time andthere's so many people that

(12:31):
don't pay on time and we have tobe the bad guys and it's so
uncomfortable.
So thank you so much for justbeing so on it with us and just
so you know understanding, and Iwas sitting there like.
You have no idea how stressed Iwas about this bill, you know.
So in the end, I'm just sothankful for my mom and I'm so
thankful that everything youknow went as planned and the

(12:52):
good thing about it was, in theend, we had a beautiful wedding,
we had beautiful moments, Imarried my best friend and I'm
just excited that I was able toshare this.
And hopefully, if you are goingthrough something where you're
just like where is this gonnaend, like you know what's going
on, this isn't like just havethe faith that God has already

(13:15):
won the victory and startplanning for the success, start
planning for the good that'scoming out of it.
And when you do that, yourmindset changes and I wish that
I did that my last three weeksbefore I got married.
But now in my life now I'mtrying to continue to plan and

(13:37):
to think that way and I thinkthat's such a hard thing to do
and I think as you grow older inyour faith it will be easier,
but it's still going to be verychallenging because we all know
satan's out there trying to makeyou question everything.
So that's all for today, behindthe scenes.
Love you guys.
God bless, till next time.
