Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…

What if praise came before proof and peace arrived before the outcome? We open Luke 1:46–56 and sit with Mary's song, noticing how she lifts her voice in worship while life still feels uncertain.

You’ll hear a simple way to build a personal song of praise this season: read Mary’s words aloud, choose one attribute of God to celebrate, and thank Him in advance for the grace you need.

If this reflection helps you slow down and breathe, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs encouragement, and leave a review so more hearts can find hope this.

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hello, hello.
This is Jesse Morgan Devotionsfor the Christian Heart Podcast.
Welcome, welcome.
This year I'm bringing my 25-dayChristmas devotional to life in
a new way.
Beginning on day 11 through day25, each devotional entry now
has a matching mini podcastepisode, a simple 8 to 10 minute
reflection designed to help youslow down and truly sit with the

(00:22):
story of Jesus' birth.
Each episode clearly follows thesame day as the written
devotional, so day 11 in thebook is day 11 on the podcast
and so forth.
My hope is that these dailyaudio reflections make the
journey to Christmas feel evenmore personal, peaceful, and
meaningful.
Thank you for being here.
Let's go.

(00:56):
And it says in Luke 1, 46through 56, and Mary said, My
soul glorifies the Lord, and myspirit rejoices in God, my
Savior, for he has been mindfulof the humble state of his
servant.
From now on, all generationswill call me blessed, for the
mighty one has done great thingsfor me.

(01:17):
Holy is his name.
His mercy extends to those whofear him from generation to
generation.
He has performed mighty deedswith his arm, he has scattered
those who are proud in theirinmost thoughts, he has brought
down rulers from their thrones, but has lifted up the humble.
He has filled the hungry withgood things, but has sent the
rich away empty.

(01:39):
He has helped his servantIsrael, remembering to be
merciful to Abraham and hisdescendants forever, just as he
promised our ancestors.
Mary stayed with Elizabeth forabout three months and then
returned home.
Wow, what an amazing song orwhat an amazing set of words
that Mary said praising the Lordthrough this very challenging,

(02:03):
you know, life-changingsituation.
Basically, within her situationbeing pregnant with the Son of
God and Elizabeth being pregnantat an older age with John the
Baptist, who's going to dowonderful things as well.
It's just amazing that in allthis, she is, you know, sitting
there with Elizabeth praisingthe Lord versus crying versus

(02:24):
complaining versus trying toplan everything in a head.
She is praising God.
So let me start with this foryou today.
There's nothing more satisfyingthan praising someone else,
right?
Yet that doesn't come off thatdoesn't come out of people's
mouths enough in this world,right?
Well, we live in a cultureobsessed with individual

(02:46):
recognition, self-promotion, andthe idea that you must rely
solely on yourself to succeed.
But in my holy spirit world, asI claim it, that's just not
possible.
God is universal, and he is theone I give praise to these days.
Over the last two years, I'velearned this deeply.
I praise God before the goodeven happens.

(03:08):
Praising him before the blessingshows faith.
It tells heaven, Lord, I trustyou, even when I don't see it
yet.
As we dig into day 15, I alsowanted to share that it's my
birthday.
And honestly, I would rathereveryone praise God than
celebrate only me.
I thank him for everything Ihave.

(03:29):
I praise God three days after mydaughter was born, early,
celebrating how he would healher, while the infectious
disease doctor was telling methere was only a slim chance she
would live.
My mom praised God before weever figured out the remaining
funds for my wedding, and thatwas just a week away.
And you know what in the end?

(03:50):
God bless that.
My dad praised and prayed when Iwas ten years old, asking God
for an amazing husband for me.
And here I am, eight yearsmarried, grateful for the man
God prepared for me.
Lord, I thank you for everysingle blessing and every single
trial.
I thank you because through allof it, I have learned so much

(04:12):
about myself and my faith.
So as we read Mary's song ofpraise today, let's remember to
have our own song for God.
And that song comes throughpraying, praising, and speaking
with Him, about Him andeverything to Him daily.
Let's pray.
Father God, today I come to youwith a heart full of praise.

(04:36):
Before the blessing comes, Ithank you, Lord.
Before I see the miracle, Itrust you.
Thank you for every trial thatshaped me and every blessing
that carried me.
Thank you for healing mydaughter, providing for my
family, and writing a story Inever could have imagined for
myself.
Teach me to have my own song ofpraise, like Mary, Lord.

(04:57):
And that song should rise evenin uncertainty.
Let my life reflect yourgoodness, Lord, your
faithfulness.
Thank you so much for theamazing story of Jesus and the
Gospels.
We love you and we praise you inJesus' name.
Amen.
God bless everyone.
Till next time.

(05:20):
Thank you for listening.
This episode is part of myChristmas devotional series
inspired by my writtendevotional, 25 Days Till
Christmas, a scriptured-filledjourney preparing our hearts to
celebrate the birth of Jesus.
I invite you to read along andreflect on his story in a deeper
way.
Details in the show notes forthe written devotional.
And it also says in Scripture,Glory to God in the highest, and

(05:41):
on earth, peace, goodwilltowards men.
Luke 2, 14.
And don't miss the nextreflection in this Christmas
series by subscribing to thepodcast to continue walking
through God's word this season.
And a little bit about me.
I'm Jesse Morgan, wife, mom, anddevotional writer and podcaster
who loves sharing biblicalencouragement and the hope we

(06:01):
find in Jesus.
Till next time, Jesse Morgansigning on.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
