SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Hello, hello.
This is Jesse Morgan Devotionsfor the Christian Heart Podcast.
Welcome, welcome.
This year I'm bringing my 25-dayChristmas devotional to life in
a new way.
Beginning on day 11 through day25, each devotional entry now
has a matching mini podcastepisode, a simple 8 to 10 minute
reflection designed to help youslow down and truly sit with the
(00:22):
story of Jesus' birth.
Each episode clearly follows thesame day as the written
devotional, so day 11 in thebook is day 11 on the podcast
and so forth.
My hope is that these dailyaudio reflections make the
journey to Christmas feel evenmore personal, peaceful, and
meaningful.
Thank you for being here.
Let's go.
(00:46):
Sense of Urgency for Jesus.
And it says, When the angels hadleft them, we're just referring
to referring to the shepherds, and gone into heaven, the
shepherds said to one another,Let's go to Bethlehem and see
(01:06):
this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us
about.
So they hurried off and foundMary and Joseph and the baby,
who was lying in the manger.
When they had seen him, theyspread the word concerning what
had been told to them about thischild, and all who heard it were
amazed at what the shepherdssaid to them.
But Mary treasured up all thesethings and pondered them in her
(01:30):
heart.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for
all the things they had heardand seen, which were just as
they had been told.
Now, have you ever received newsor instructions and taken too
long to respond, only to realizethat later the delay cost you
something good or createdconfusion?
(01:51):
That's a terrible place to be,right?
Or have you been the one givingthe information, fully expecting
the other person to act, andthey didn't?
How frustrating was that?
How offensive did it feel?
Now hear me out.
Can you imagine if theshepherds, after being told by
angels about Jesus' birth, waited months or even years to
(02:13):
go see him?
Verse 16 tells us that theshepherds hurried to see baby
Jesus.
They didn't hesitate, theydidn't overthink it, and after
seeing him, they went and spreadthe news of what they had
experienced and encountered.
Because of their obedience andurgency, people began talking,
and seeds were planted forJesus' future ministry.
(02:33):
Think about this.
The shepherds were tending theirsheep, their livelihood, and
they just left to go see theSavior.
What urgency, what obedience.
Their work wasn't more importantthan responding to God's
message.
They simply went.
So here's my challenge to youtoday.
As a believer, are you urgentlysh are you urgently sharing the
(02:56):
story of Jesus and hissalvation?
Do you have a sense of urgencywhen it comes to spreading the
good news?
And if you don't, have you everstopped to consider the
disappointment God might feelwatching you not act?
That thought is mind-boggling tome as I continue to grow in my
faith these days.
As believers, we are called tokeep spreading the good news so
(03:19):
that more can be saved andcovered by the blood of Jesus
Christ.
So are you knocking the doors toshare Jesus Christ?
Or are you just taking your timeand thinking I don't want to
offend anybody?
You know, I'll mention it when Ican.
Which one are you?
Urgent or lackadaisical?
Let's pray.
(03:41):
Heavenly Father, thank you somuch for teaching us about the
urgency through the shepherds.
Father, help us to keep thaturgency when we're sharing the
gospel, when we're sharing theincredible birth of Jesus
Christ, the incredible life andthe salvation of Jesus Christ.
Because Lord, we're here to saveas many people.
(04:02):
We're here to bring as manypeople with us to heaven.
And Father, just continue tocontinue to help everyone do
that.
Spread the good news that youhave given us through this
beautiful, beautiful Christmasstory.
Father, we love you and wepraise you.
And we thank you so much for thebirth of Jesus Christ.
(04:23):
Thank you and bless everyonelistening to this podcast today.
