In light of all the controversy surrounding Israel in our day, people from all walks of life—both secular and Christian—are weighing in. And when most Christians are asked why they support Israel, their answer is simple: “Because the Bible says if I bless Israel, I’ll be blessed. If I curse Israel, I’ll be cursed.”
But not everyone agrees with that line of thinking. Some quickly push back and say, “You’re taking that out of context! That promise in Genesis 12:3 was only for Abraham. It doesn’t apply to the nation of Israel today.” Others add, “Blessing Israel doesn’t mean you have to support the modern Israeli government!”
So what’s the truth? How do we make sense of these arguments? What does the Bible really teach about blessing—or opposing—Israel? And what are the spiritual consequences of either one?
If you’re someone who stands with and prays for Israel, you’ve probably heard the objections I just mentioned. Let’s look at what the Bible actually says, no politics, no opinions, just the Word.
