The meeting with Trump and Putin went well or badly - depending on which media outlet you prefer. Surprise! Media outlets that hate Trump called the meeting everything from a failure to a fiasco. Media outlets that favor Trump applauded the meeting. So...what really happened in Alaska? Since the media is protected by the First Amendment, they can say whatever they want - no repercusions. So...as usual...what should we believe?

Speaker 1 (00:03):
You wanted music.
We got music, david, and it'sloud.
And it's Monday.
You know time to wake up.
It's noon.
You wish it was Friday.
It's okay, we feel your pain.
You know you got stranded birdsall over Canada, the loonies
are going quackers and here weare.

(00:24):
You know, monday, august, the18th 2025, and uh, just to say
uh, there's a striking airlinein canada and some people are
stranded and unfortunately theydon't have a government that
seems to be able to negotiatetheir way into this or into that
.
Welcome everybody to the rantnetwork.
That was a plug against a goodfriend of mine.

(00:46):
It's your go-to podcast forunapologetic discussions, hosted
by myself with david tollevinto my left.
Today, we're tackling a diverserange of topics canada
conversations, bold opinions, whether breaking down the latest
headlines, like air canada's onstrike, or delving into the
latest pop culture, politics andand complexities of modern life

(01:06):
.
So grab a seat, settle in,because David is sitting at his
desk.
Anyways, guys, let's understandmedia, let's understand optics
and let's try and put things inperspective.
If you have not been under arock or in North Korea, where

(01:27):
the media has been blacked out,you would know that Donald Trump
flew all the way over to.
It's called Elmdorf Richardson, which is a joint Air Force base
up in Alaska.
You may not know, alaska waspurchased for 100 years, for I
think it's 20 cents an acre fromthe Russian czars.

(01:47):
Here we are in 2025, andthere's a war going on in the
Ukraine, where Russia invadedand attacked a sovereign nation
that it doesn't believe issovereign.
It believes it's part of itsefforts.
It's part of its efforts.

(02:07):
But here we are, 2025, and whatwe're talking about today is
how an utter disaster, diplomatic failure that Donald
Trump didn't reach a ceasefirein a how-many-year-old war that
started with who is President ofthe United States.
This is just flipping bananas,david.
It doesn't matter where youwere watching, but if you didn't

(02:28):
watch the right network, youdidn't get the right view.
David, what say you?

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Well, stuart, thank you so much for going off track,
as you are so good to do.
But yes, ladies and gentlemen,I'm stuck here in Montreal
thanks to Air Canada and itsbloody incompetence.
I should have been with Stuartactually doing this live in
Florida and instead I'm here inMontreal.
Thanks to Air Canada and itsbloody incompetence.
I should have been with Stuartactually doing this live in
Florida and instead I'm here inMontreal.
But again, if you listen to howthe media has positioned it,

(02:54):
the Liberal government of Canadahas nothing to do with it.
They did nothing wrong, eventhough there was legislation put
out Saturday to send everybodyback to the work.
And the flight attendant saysno, and Air Canada says yes,
we're going.
And again, if you listen to themedia narrative of all this,
the liberal government did whatthey could.
Again, who are they in favor of?

(03:17):
As a minor story, in the grandscheme of things, it's only
130,odd Canadians a day impactedabout this.
But think of the millions oflives in Ukraine that were
impacted by this war, thedisplacements, the resettlement
for so many Ukrainians on aglobal scale.
Right, which I'll get to injust a second Again, stuart.

(03:38):
But here's the thing you wereright If you are sitting
watching TV CBS, abc, nbc, msnbc, especially this was a disaster
meeting.
Putin schooled Trump, putinscrewed Trump.
Trump's an idiot Trump.
Could Carolyn Leavitt?
You could tell how angry she isand how disappointed they are

(04:01):
by this meeting, and on and onand on.
Now the reason I get to see someof this stuff is I've got this
curated app of Apple News on myphone and my iPad and I get all
these liberal dumped media whichI will not name because they
shouldn't even be alive with theway they portray things.

(04:21):
They are absolute scandalouslies portrayed as news.
Remember, if you remember themedia backstreet a few months
ago, when they wanted to bringpodcasters into the White House
and they said those aren't mediabecause they were favoring
Trump or they actually showedyou the other side.
Now you go into Apple News andyou have these media, so-called

(04:46):
media houses, that are just outto slam Trump and the
Republicans Every time they opentheir eyes.
The world is a disaster.
Now, I'm not making this up,folks, but let's take a
conventional group called CBSParamount, the people who've
been in the spotlight becauseTrump is controlling them over

(05:09):
this negotiation, over a lawsuit, over a merger, over all these
kinds of things.
And once again, Marco Rubio goeson Face the Nation with
Margaret Brennan, who clearlyhas a hate on the Republicans.
Her and CBS have decided that.
If you remember the debates andif you remember every time

(05:30):
Marco was on by the way, I'veseen quite a few of his
interviews.
First of all, marco DeBrandonjust likes to talk over people,
like other journalists do, andshe needs to get her narrative
in for her audience.
What does she say?
That Trump is going to bullyZelensky into a deal, because if

(05:50):
you remember the meeting in theWhite House months ago, how we
bullied him and JD Vance bullied, it's all they talk about, a
narrative that doesn't exist.
They are not getting off theirTrump derangement syndrome.
They're not getting off of thishate on Donald Trump, and Marco
Rubio literally called them outand said it's stopped pushing a
stupid media narrative.

(06:12):
Marco Rubio is one of theclearest head secretary of state
we've seen in a long time and Igot to tell you this guy stands
up there and speaks very, veryclearly and he's right to the
point and he's called out themedia when they're wrong.
And yet CBS to CNN, to MSNBC,are going to push with their

(06:34):
idiot talking heads how Trumpruined the meeting with Putin.
Putin is going to school.
Putin is going to force this La, la, la, la la.
And if you go even further, yousee Europeans are going to oh,
they have to support Zelenskybecause Trump's going to screw
them.
It's fascinating how you couldtwist something that isn't fact.

(06:55):
But just enough.
I don't know, stuart, At onepoint I'm wondering We've
already had a lawsuit over 60Minutes and we've already had a
lawsuit with ABC.
I would love to see the whitehouse I'll take a page out of
your book suing every freakingmedia house for distorting the
truth.
Could you imagine the number oflawsuits that way?

Speaker 1 (07:16):
yeah, but it's.
It's even easier.
I mean, I, I would.
You don't have to sue them forthat, you just sue them for
campaign fraud uh, you knowlisten and I'll tell you why.
It's campaign fraud.
What remember, david?
You and I are sorry we calledout the invasion in ukraine a

(07:37):
month before it actuallyhappened.
You know, let the bells ring, you know, and I want them to
ring really loud.
For anyone that's a critic onhow I get off topic or how you
and I banter about whatever irksus that day, let's talk about
ammonia nitrate.
Let's talk about how the Bidengovernment, the Biden, the

(08:00):
Democrats oh shit, it's Obamawho allowed him to go take the
dumbass.
So, like, when you talk abouthypocrisy, I say you've got to
sue the media for campaign fraudand you know what?
I think they should all beincarcerated.
I think their bank accountsshould be drained.
I think the federal governmentshould teach them a lesson that

(08:23):
they tried to teach Donald TrumpRules for me, not for thee.
This is what's been going on inthe White House for way too
long.
When you talk about Marco Rubio, you talk about Secretary of
State.
You mean someone who's actingon behalf of the United States
government versus their bankaccount.
Because, like, let's be honest, the Clintons left the White

(08:44):
House with $750,000.
They're worth how many hundredsof millions of dollars the
Bidens win and how many hundredsof millions of dollars are they
worth?
They are using this as alaunchpad but, by the way, they
say Trump's making a fortune.
Trump lost $7 billion sincehe's been president.
He's gone from $3.7 to 3.0billion dollars while he's

(09:08):
president.
You know, it's kind of like theinverse, where we keep trying
to tell everyone these guys goout there and project what
they're doing.
You know, all of these mediahouses and networks are going up
Trump.
They're funded by theRothschilds.
They're funded by theVanderbilt.
They're funded by the Soros.
They're funded by theVanderbilt.

(09:29):
They're funded by the Soros.
They're funded by communists.

Speaker 2 (09:32):
Here's the problem.
Here's the problem, Stuart.
The First Amendment, the FirstAmendment, and I'm just reading
it now the Free Press Clauseprotects the right of
individuals to expressthemselves through publication
and dissemination of information, ideas and opinions without
interference, constraint orprosecution by the government.

(09:52):
Ergo, they can say whateverthey want.
The Constitution that they haveripped to shreds, that they
have allowed the left tocompletely maul, is also the
same document that is supposedto protect them, and yet they
can say whatever they want andsay for the press.
That's your First Amendment.

(10:15):
That's the problem.
So they can decide that byTrump oh, Trump is probably, you
know, he's a buffoon.
He could say whatever I wantand you can't do anything.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Well you know.
You have election-relateddisinformation and
mischaracterizations of theopponents.
You have foreign policynarratives, you have echo
chamber syndrome, propagandaframing and direct influence.
The consequence of this iseroding public trust,
polarization of society beingfractured, threats to security.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
My God Stuart, Stuart , it doesn't matter it.
God Stuart, Stuart, it doesn'tmatter.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Stuart, it doesn't matter.
This is the same media that hasbeen misrepresenting the.
You know, on one hand, look atthe difference.
All right, russia invadesUkraine.
It's front page news nonstop.
When did it stop?
When did it stop?
When did it change, stuart?

(11:11):
When did the Ukraine war nolonger become front page news?
When Israel was invaded byHamas.
That point, it went even furtherin, as the old expression goes
well into the pages of thenewspaper.
It was no longer headline newson the media.
It was no longer headline newson the media.
It was no longer that.
In fact, if you look at thecoverage of the Gaza war, there

(11:38):
is more coverage of that warthan every conflict on earth
combined, including the Ukraine.
So here you are.
A media house that's sittinghere has decided that this one
little war versus a Russiainvading a democratic country is
more important.
The media decided this and themedia has been portraying it
like this as Israel's bad, hamasis good.

(11:59):
And the same people who say ifit's Biden in the office, look
how he supported the Ukraine.
Listen, listen.
You know again, their argumentis it's Biden in the office look
how he supported the Ukraine.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Well, you know, listen, listen, you know again.
Their argument is it's onlybeen a sovereign nation for like
32 years.
It was established in 1991 andit declared itself the Soviet
Union, but the media would goout there and say the Jews
invaded Palestine.
You know, this is the horror.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
This is your media, my friend.
This is your media too.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Your media, I'm sorry , cbc, I mean, let's not talk
about CBS, let's talk about CBC,let's talk about CTV, let's
talk about the wonderfulnetworks you have in Canada.
At least we've got some options.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Oh, once again.
How do you do this?
How does your brain function?
Talking about Canada?
Who fucking cares about mylittle country?
Your media, your media.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Thank you so much.
I'm not a pompous American.
You're the pompous Canadian whothinks their media is a little
nothing for a tiny littlecountry.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
You're right, stuart.
Your media, you're right, yourmedia houses.
Your number of publications isoff the chart.
Your media is allowed to saywhatever, however, whenever.
And yet the president of theUnited States, carolyn, you know
the press secretary her nameescapes me and all these people.

(13:28):
They spend days and days anddays going from one media to the
other.
You know, I think, stuart, Igot to tell you something.
This is, this is, this ishilarious, ok which the media is
not going to really touch on.
You want to?
You want to crap on Trump?
Right, guess where you can goAny liberal media.
You want to know where theyavoid, where they're going to

(13:52):
get hammered.
If you look at your Democrats, your Democrats and Bill Maher,
by the way, talked about thislast week.
I thought this was brilliant hecan't get a Democrat on his
show.
He can't get Obama, he can'tget Clinton, he's not going to
get Biden.
None of them want to go on ashow because he actually does
something that the others don'tdo.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
He's being part of them.
He's not credit, he doesn'tdrink the kool-aid.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
They don't drink the kool-aid and your media has, you
know.
Oh, wait a second.
We want to bring in the peoplewho are just going to spew what
we want to hear.
And so, if you want to talkabout, did trump screw up in
alaska, which, like I love onemedia house, which I'm not going
to name, stuart, because againthey don't deserve the publicity
they said, I can't believeTrump didn't walk out with a

(14:39):
peace treaty with Putin.
In what world could Trump havenegotiated a peace treaty for a
sovereign country?

Speaker 1 (14:47):
that's not his.
What peace treaty did any ofthese president democratic?

Speaker 2 (14:52):
again, you go down the wrong path it's the wrong
statement listen to thestatement and dissect it.
Trump didn't negotiate a peacetreaty with putin.
He didn't walk out with one, asif one trump could talk on
zielinski's behalf, he did two.
That in one meeting you cannegotiate a peace treaty?
Not possible, okay, you know.

(15:14):
It's fascinating how the worldhas a short memory, because the
memory, let me remind everybody.
Could you imagine if Trumpwould have said I negotiated
this deal with Putin?
You know what they would havesaid.
So did Neville Chamberlain in1938 with Hitler, when he walked
around with a piece of paperfrom Adolf Hitler.
It doesn't matter what Trumpwould have done or didn't do.

(15:36):
Trump's the bad guy.
Trump is irrelevant.
It is amazing, stuart, how yourmedia can't get off Trump
derangement syndrome, okay, andoh, by the way, you want to know
what?
Even the funnier thing is,someone brought up.
Yeah, trump's probably going torun for a third term.
What relevance does that haveto Zelensky and Ukraine and I?
Just, it just amazes me howarranged they are and there's

(16:01):
nothing one you could do aboutit.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
You know, David, the media outlets are hearing the
summer sound of crickets.
You know what that means, Dave.
We've got over our quarter hour.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I don't know what you're doing because there's no
music.
My friend, have yourself agreat day everybody, because
Stuart's equipment is broken.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Stuart, just wrap it up, forget it.
What are you talking about?
There's no music.
No, sir, yep, I screwedsomething up.
Welcome everyone, you welcomeeveryone.
Gotta say goodbye, david.
You know it's been anotherbrilliant episode.
We truly appreciate you tuningin every monday, wednesday,
friday, noon eastern where davidand I shit on somebody.
