code on what makes for a happy, healthy life, and
he's got research to back it up. He's the director
of Harvard's Study of Adult Development, possibly the longest running
study on human happy happiness. It started in nineteen thirty eight.

Waldinger is also a psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry at
Harvard Medical School, a Zen priest, and co author of
The Good Life Lessons from the World's longest scientific Study
of Happiness.

He says a lot of components factor into a happier life,
but one thing that is key is quality relationships. He
says staying actively connected to at least a couple of
people gives a sense of connection that we all need
and helps with stress relief and keeps us from feeling lonely.
So here's what the experts recommend to live your happiest life.

Don't neglect the basics. Make sure you're taking care of
your physical health by exercising regularly. I did a story
on the show this morning. It'll five and a half
minutes a day.

of Harvard's Study of Adult Development, possibly the longest running
study on human happy happiness. It started in nineteen thirty eight.

I would imagine what it makes people happy has changed.

Through the decade, you hope so anyway.

Waldinger is also a psychiatrist and professor of psychiatry at
Harvard Medical School, a Zen priest, and co author of
The Good Life Lessons from the World's longest scientific Study
of Happiness.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Well.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
He says a lot of components factor into a happier life,
but one thing that is key is quality relationships. He
says staying actively connected to at least a couple of
people gives a sense of connection that we all need
and helps with stress relief and keeps us from feeling lonely.
So here's what the experts recommend to live your happiest life.
(10:38):
Don't neglect the basics. Make sure you're taking care of
your physical health by exercising regularly. I did a story
on the show this morning. It'll five and a half
minutes a day.

That's it. Keeps you healthy.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Okay, they say, eat well, don't abuse drugs or alcohol,
and get a reasonable amount of sleep. Also invest in
those personal relateslationships and strength and existing relationships. He also
says you should be able to accept and embrace change.
We change all the time. The important thing is supporting

that change rather than resisting it.

Just remember anything that's fun you shouldn't do. Okay, all right,

the ultimate singer songwriter that is, like the ultimate yacht
rock performer ended up being Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers.
He was featured, so was Kenny Loggins, and a lot

of members from the from Toto were featured as well.
So so Val dug up the top ten yacht rock
songs according to what is a Ultimate.

Classic Rock Okay, so number ten, Rich Girl, Holland Oates,
Yep Yeap, Fooled Around and fell in Love by Elvin.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Bishop, which is the lead singer.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Thomas Yeah went on to be in Starship Baker Street,
Jerry Rafferty Dirty Work that's also Steely Dan, Yep Ride
Like the Wind.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Christopher Christopher Cross was featured a lot prominently. Yeah, And uh,
let's talk about some of the things.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
I look at him as like this baby faced, mild mannered,
just mellow, not unsuspecting.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
What's that. I'm not sure what the word is.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
I'm looking forward, but he looked he looks innocent. He
looks like a baby face innocent, you know, kind of
a like a really kind of a like a band geek.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
And so he said he funded his first album by
selling Weed and then when he wrote Ride Like the
Wind on.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Acid, I was like, what you did Acid?
Speaker 1 (13:12):
And there's the big you know. He started his career
filling in for Richie blackmore of Purple in I think
Houston Purple Yeah, something like that. Yeah. So yeah, that
was a bit of a surprise.

Uh So Ride Like the Wind is number six, number five,
Summer Breeze, Jisen Cross uh Now Boss Gagg's two songs
back to back in the top five low Down and
Lido Shuffle.

Songs that were written by David Page of Toto and
the band total. A lot of members were performed on
that album.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yep Peg, Steely Dan, number two and number one.

What a Fool Believe and Michael McDonald was surprisingly funny.
So was Steve Lucatherra. I know he's he's he's my
favorite guitarist, but he is a funny, funny guy. He
was like yacht rock, Yeah, well, where's my yacht? Yeah?
He was great.

I see these guys in this old footage. It's like, man,
you guys were really cute back then.
