On This Week’s Episode
This week on the show, we talk about inventing ourselves and how that topic is related to the band R.E.M. and what that has to do with the two roads people seem to travel when they engage with me about ignoring the Trump administration. We move on to some sick stuff that I am partially regretting discussing, but it did lead me to mention Eddie Van Halen and the NAACP, so it can’t be all that bad. We celebrate being 10% through 1461 days of the Trump administration, why Father’s Day reminds me of Michael Landon of Little House, and the success of the No Kings Day protest, along with the parallel failure of the leader of the Trump administration’s birthday parade.
Speaking of No Kings Day, a commentator named Jack gets all up in my grill about it and I have to explain a few things to him while using Independence Day star and famous face-slapper Will Smith as part of my argument. We discuss the 3 1/2 % Rule, why it is important to know about and how it relates to the Daryl Hall and John Oates mild banger, “One on One.” Speaking of bangers and calling back to last week’s unfortunate passing of Brian Wilson, I mention the hit song “Barbara Ann” by The Beach Boys and how it is related to our upcoming war with Iran. Have you heard that we’re probably going to war? Thanks, leader of the Trump administration!
Finally, I make a plea for the the gold leaf installed in the oval office to remain after the leader of the Trump administration is gone, just to show that we have more important issues to deal with.

Hi. It’s Josh.
A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.
I was exhausted by the news!
But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. I wanted to use the “opportunity,” as I had decided to optimistically look at this timeline, to become more mindful and better train my mind to take in the “news,” and then let it fall away from my conciousness.
Efficiently and totally. The other aspect of this thought was to then take the personal time I was reclaiming through this process and apply it to more creative endeavors.
This series, for example!
1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration began. “Day 1” went viral on TikTok, so now I am in until 2029, right?!
If you are also someone aspiring to become the best version of yourself, please feel free to join me on this journey, which is sure to get weird around “Day 132,” “Day 877,” and “Day 1001,” etc.
For your pleasure (maybe not, let’s see), here is another compilation of posts, along with an exclusive intro and outro only available on the podcast (because I love you.)
As per usual, if you want to see video of the original TikTok posts that this podcast audio is derived from, you can watch them all on YouTube at this link. Sometimes seeing my face makes it better (maybe not, let’s see.)

More about Josh:
I published my first newsletter before the age of ten, written using my next-door neighbor’s typewriter, copied with carbon paper, and distributed to mailboxes on my bicycle.
One of my first stories was an obituary of John Belushi. Strange for a ten year old? Yes!
My writing today is governed by deadpan sarcasm that goes granular on various cultural topics that I am deeply curious about. I hope you enjoy this sometimes snarky stream of consciousness.
I'm serious about not taking life too seriously.™

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
