Speaker 1 (00:00):
I could look at this as, like this sucks and I hate
the situation and everything isdampering me and just being very
negative.
Or I could take theresponsibility and make
something of this time and pourinto myself and find joy, find
confidence, find fulfillment, find happiness through this
limiting time.
That is taking radicalresponsibility.

(00:20):
It is taking just the easiestnext step towards changing.
Hey, girlfriend, welcome toJourney to Limitless podcast.
Together on the show, we're ona mission to build belief in
ourselves and live a life offreedom, despite what tries to
hold us back.
I'm your host, court andempowerment coach, travel
enthusiast and chronic illnesswarrior who, over the last seven

(00:42):
years, has built a life thatI'm so obsessed with and proud
of, but it definitely has notcome easy.
So on the show, we're going tokeep it real as we talk about
adapting positive mindsetsthrough hardship, taking action
towards our dreams and findingpeace and freedom from hustle,
culture and chronic stress.
Are you with me?
Let's get going on your ownjourney to limitless.

(01:03):
Thank you for joining today foranother episode of Journey to
Limitless podcast.
I am so excited that you'rehere today and I'm so fired up
about this topic, which istaking radical responsibility in
our life, because, truly, thatis when we will shift and create
the life that we want to live, because we feel that power
within us to make change, andthat really starts with taking

(01:25):
radical responsibility.
So I'm super excited to jumpinto today's episode, and this
episode was actually the episodethat got the most votes.
I did a poll the other dayasking you what you wanted to
hear on the podcast, and thiswas the episode that got the
most votes.
So the other episode that wasposted was all about becoming
next level you.

(01:46):
So that episode will be comingout as the next solo episode
that I do after this one.
So if you voted for that one, have no worries, that will be
coming out shortly.
So, like I said, today we aregoing to be talking about taking
radical responsibility because, truly, everything that we
desire is on the other side ofnot letting our circumsents as
hold us back, and it's on theother side of, like, finding

(02:10):
that power within us to createthe life that we want.
And I tell you this becausethere have been many times on
this journey that I've been onover the last gosh, I don't know
.
I feel like I've been on thisjourney since 2013 of taking
radical responsibility and notletting my circumstances hold me
back and recognizing that theonly person who's going to

(02:31):
create that dream life is me.
So there's been so manydifferent instances that I can
pull back from.
And when we, when we recognizethat we need to take radical
responsibility, of course ourego is still in the front seat
saying, ok, but how are yougoing to do that?
Ok, but are you sure?

(02:51):
Or all these things like ourego is still there.
A lot of times we think that ourego is just this negative thing
which sometimes it definitelycan feel that way.
Right, because it's so.
It can feel such a like thestories that it tells us, what
it tells us about ourselves.
It is, it feels very negativeand we can build this like
negative relationship with ourego.
But ultimately it doesn't haveto be that way because really

(03:12):
the negative stories are comingto keep us safe.
Our ego isn't something to beto fight right, to fight back to
.
It's really about building arelationship with it's like, hey
, thanks for keeping me safe, but I see this path that if I
don't listen to you, it'sactually going to make me
happier.
It's actually going to bring memore joy, more confidence, more
freedom, all these things thatI want.

(03:32):
So, hey, thank you, but I amgoing to take radical
responsibility and not listen toyou, right?
So you know, that's, that'sjust what I think is important,
because a lot of times, when werecognize how you need to take
radical responsibility, thatlittle voice in our head is
still there trying to Tell us tonot take radical responsibility

(03:54):
.
So it's just really importantto be aware of that, you know.
So today I just kind of want toshare with you, like, I guess,
what's coming, what's coming tomind right now is just sharing
with you, like, I guess, aRecent experience of where I
realized that I needed to takeradical responsibility, where I
realized that the path to morejoy, confidence, freedom was

(04:14):
truly in my hands and I had tochoose to take that or I could
choose to be limited by mycircumstance.
So I just want to share withyou because I think it's just
important to note, you know, when that realization came and
how I actively started to takethe steps to make that happen.
So what's coming to mind is thismost recent experience that I

(04:35):
had, where I had to leaveColorado and move home to
support my mom.
My mom was dealing with a lotof, was dealing with some pretty
serious health issues and itwas just very, very obvious to
me that the right thing to dowas to move home to support her.
But this move was not easy forme whatsoever because I lived in
Colorado for seven years.
I built a life out there and Ialso had a full-time income.

(04:56):
That was pretty, you know, Iwas pretty good, I was pretty
well off, you know, with thatincome and this job was like not
something that I could just, you know, transfer to Colorado
to Maryland.
I was a caregiver for a family.
So it was like, oh, I have toactually end working with them.
You know, they're gonna have tohire someone else or things
like that.
So it was just a very, you know, I was angry, I was sad about

(05:20):
it, you know, and.
But I obviously knew that theright thing to do was to move
home.
But and with that, my mom alsoneeded like 24, seven, around
the clock care and I reallydidn't have a lot of support
here in Maryland to kind of helpme with that.
So it was like, okay, Iactually can't even go get a
typical job.
I there's no way for me toreally do that.

(05:42):
I have to be here with mom, basically 24 seven, aside from,
like you know, when someonewould come over to relieve me at
some point, you know.
So there really wasn't anoption and I was feeling so
freaking limited.
I was telling myself so manystories of like wow, like this,
your, like I just the negativitywas so overloaded.

(06:03):
I was telling me, tellingmyself all these stories, I was
feeling so limited.
I was like I'm broke, I'm poor,I'm all of these things like
you know, all the, all thethings.
And then I snapped myself and Iwas like hold up, hold up, hold
up, what up, what up.
First of all, you just investedin your business coach, like a
month before this, because youfelt this desire to start
working on your coachingbusiness again.

(06:24):
And Then you have always wantedto be an entrepreneur, which
you can do from home, you can dothat from your computer.
So you want more freedom, youwant more joy, you want more
confidence.
Starting to focus on buildingup your business again is really

(06:44):
such a great path forward.
It's really like you don't haveto be limited by these
circumstances.
And I was like starting to seethis story play out of like wow,
I could create my business fromthis limiting time.
I could, like really take thesteps towards what I actually
want my life to be from thislimiting time.
But I had to recognize that, hey, I really don't want to feel
so limited.
I do not want to keep playingthe story where life is

(07:06):
happening to me, where you knowthis situation sucks and all
these things like.
I had to switch my perspectiveand like start to see the
possibilities of like wow, apath towards more confidence,
freedom and joy is available tome, regardless of where I am
right now.
I get to choose to take thataction right.
But I had to take that radicalresponsibility and be like okay,
the only way that that that isgoing to happen is if I start to

(07:29):
take the steps to do it.
And then, you know, thatthought happened.
But then it was like yeah.
My ego was like yeah, but likeno one's going to want to work
with you when you are living ina one bedroom apartment with
your mom, your coach who'sliving in a one bedroom
apartment with your mom.
No one is gonna work with you.
And I had to work through thatwhole ego story as well.

(07:50):
I had to be like no, becausewhat really fueled me was, you
know with coaching is like it isabout not letting your
circumstances hold you back.
So me letting this circumstancehold me back no, so that has
actually gave me more fuel formy coaching business, you know.
So, yeah, so that was just alot of taking radical
responsibility and not lettingthat circumstance hold me back.

(08:11):
And it also launched a wholeother business.
I have a podcast editingbusiness as well that launched.
Well, I started doing this afew months prior to this, but
this gave me the fire to reallylike restart it.
So that's probably the mostrecent time that I've taken
radical responsibility, and itwasn't necessarily easy.
It was, you know, a lot ofthese very, very deep negative

(08:35):
thought patterns and, you know, waking up, feeling really down
but recognizing that I was inthis cycle of like I don't want
to be in this situation and theonly way that that is going to
change is if I take radicalresponsibility.
And that didn't just look likestarting the business.
That looked like, you know, creating better habits on a
day-to-day basis.

(08:56):
You know, starting to readagain, starting to journal again
, making sure that I'm gettingoutside and getting my exercise,
like that was also me takingradical responsibility of like,
hey, this time I could look atthis as, like this sucks and I
hate the situation andeverything is dampering me and
just being very negative.
Or I could take theresponsibility and make
something of this time and pourinto myself and find joy, find

(09:20):
confidence, find fulfillment, find happiness through this
limiting time.
That is taking radicalresponsibility.
It is taking just the easiestnext step towards changing your
perspective, right Like rightnow.
If you are, you know, wanting tojust wake up with more joy,
like you have maybe had the samegoals going on for years and

(09:43):
years and years, and you'renoticing, like, hey, these goals
keep happening.
I'm still waking up, notfeeling my best.
I dream of days where I'mwaking up, feeling more joyful,
more confident, more free.
It's like, first of all, Ithink you know it is taking just
one step in that direction ofmore doing one thing a day.
That is taking radicalresponsibility.

(10:04):
Taking radical responsibilitydoesn't have to be these big
things of like starting a wholebusiness, right Cause maybe
that's a little bit overwhelming, but it is just taking a step
in the right direction of like, hey, I am not going to let these
days of negativity damper meevery single day.
I'm going to choose to do onething every day to bring a sense

(10:25):
of joy into my life.
That is taking radicalresponsibility.
That is not letting your wholeday go into a negative spiral,
right, that is being responsible.
So I think it's just about youknow, just recognizing, yeah.
So I think it's likerecognizing that your ego plays
a major role in you stayingstuck in your circumstances and

(10:47):
also, you know it is recognizingwhat you, what you desire, and
letting your desire be louderthan your fear.
Ultimately Like for me, thefear of people not wanting to
hire me because I live in a onebedroom with my mom as a coach.
That was really loud, but itwas like but my desire to become
a coach is so much louder thanthat and you have to let your

(11:09):
desire be louder than your fear.
And taking radicalresponsibility is just like also
, yes, not letting the negativespirals continue.
It is actively being like nope,I am not going to listen to you
, I'm going to choose somethingto.
I'm going to listen to a moreempowering part of myself.
And, yes, it is just knowing, knowing that your desire is

(11:36):
possible and that you hold thekey to that.
You hold the key to a change inperspective, right, and I know
that you know this becauseyou're listening to this podcast
.

affirming yourself that, likeyou, have the key to change your
