Speaker 1 (00:00):
I am looking at this
website right now.
So the name of the website, guys, is
worldpopulationreviewcom.
And did you know that anestimated 251 to 310 million
people worldwide suffer fromdepression?
That's a huge number.
(00:21):
It's a huge number.
That's a huge number.
It's a huge number, and ithighlights how many people are
strangling with their happiness.
Currently, the highestprevalence of depression is in
Ukraine, of course and so sorryabout it and the United States,
(00:47):
which I'm not even surprised.
We have also other countries, like Brazil and Portugal, along
with Australia and New Zealand.
People often believe that NewZealand is the happiest country
in the world, but evidently thatis not the case.
And then we have Netherlands, where I live, and Italy, where I
(01:09):
was born, where we manage quitewell, despite the challenges.
In Italy, I'm surprised because, honestly, italy faces some
difficulties in terms of workand life balance, but evidently
there is a strong mindset amongits people that helps them
(01:31):
manage pretty well, so I'm veryhappy about it.
But anyway, what I was tryingto say.
So the symptoms of depressioncan range from mild to severe
situations and include apersistent feeling of sadness,
(01:53):
feelings of guilt orworthlessness, and a negative,
down or pessimistic attitudedown or pessimistic attitude.
So these feelings, guys, unfortunately can lead to
(02:14):
sadness.
So my question is how can yoube sure to overcome these
feelings?
How can you be confident thatyou will find your purpose in
life and escape the matrix ofmodern existence that can cause
so much suffering?
Hi guys, my name is Fabio fromJourney to Success, and Welcome.
Today we introduce the conceptof the noble, hateful path and
(02:39):
its importance in Buddhistphilosophy, as it means to end
suffering and escape themetaphorical matrix of this
modern reality, as much as wecan at least.
But before going forward,please subscribe.
So I know this is the rightdirection to lead you, to drive
you, to guide you towards yourjourney to success.
(03:03):
And let's get started.
So yeah, according to theBuddha, the Noble Eightfold Path
consists of eight concepts.
Eight Seven of these conceptscan be considered as pillars
(03:24):
supporting the last one.
So just imagine a temple withseven pillars, all right, each
identified as right view, rightresolve, right speech, right
action, right livelihood, righteffort and right mindfulness.
(03:46):
These seven pillars heresupport a large ceiling which
represents the rightconcentration.
Okay, so again, the first sevenare considered essential I
would say essential supports forachieving the right
(04:08):
concentration.
Now, before we discuss eachpillar, let's consider how this
ideology helps us reducesuffering, because that's what
we're talking about today.
Because that's what we'retalking about today.
Many Buddhists believe thatfollowing the Eightfold Path can
lead to an alignment, which isthe realization of the truth
(04:33):
about your life, with thediscovery of your true purpose.
Okay, also but that's a plusthere is the fact that you can
be reborn as a human again.
So good actions with positiveintentions can result in being
born as a human, whereas badactions, with negative
(04:56):
intentions, may lead to rebirthas an animal or in a hell realm.
But I mean, that's not thepoint of the episode, of course.
The point is that the EightfoldPath can lead to your real
purpose in life.
That's what we are going tofocus today.
(05:20):
So what really concerns us isto be focused on clearing your
suffering, to make space forwhat truly matters to you.
This will help you discoveryour purpose and be more, let's
say, targeted, you know, in yourefforts.
Let's begin.
Let's begin with the firstpillar, of course.
(05:42):
First pillar is the right view.
In right view, we recognize thefour noble truths.
So the truth of suffering whoexists in a state of
dissatisfaction for one reasonor another.
Then we have the truth of theorigin of suffering.
(06:07):
So suffering anddissatisfaction arise from
motivations and conditions thatwe experienced in our past.
Then we have the truth ofsecession it is possible to
reach a state in which sufferingand dissatisfaction have ended.
(06:29):
And then we have the fourthtruth, the truth of the path.
So it's a path we can followthat will lead us to complete
the state of secession.
So, in a few words yeah, onceyou acknowledge that you are
suffering.
So we're still talking aboutthe first pillar.
(06:50):
First of all, right view.
Right view has four nobletruths okay, okay.
So once you acknowledge thatyou are suffering and recognize
the reason behind it, of course,if you are willing to do your
best to end this situation, thenwe arrive at the second pillar
(07:12):
Right resolve.
In this case, we develop thedesire to be free from this
entire sad cycle.
That's our wish, our right toend the cycle.
That's the only thing you haveto know about this pillar.
Then we have the third pillarthe right speech.
(07:32):
The right speech is aboutavoiding negative talk.
Remember, guys, we are all madeof energy here and it is
essential to channel our energyin a positive way.
It means creating a supportiveenvironment and focusing our
(07:54):
time on moving forward toachieve our goals.
But you can do that only if youget the right energy, the
positive energy around you.
In this context, our goal ishappiness anyway.
So without happiness, itbecomes challenging to reach the
dreams we desire.
(08:15):
For example, if we findourselves in a situation where
others are speaking negativelyabout someone, we should be far
from engaging that conversationand express that we don't want
to take part in it.
Okay, this is very, veryimportant.
(08:36):
The fourth pillar is rightaction.
So again, we have the firstpillar right view, with the
fourth, nobles, okay.
Then we have the second pillarright resolve.
Third pillar is the rightspeech.
And then we have the fourthpillar guys, right action, dizzy
(09:03):
peasy.
It's simply you have not to armyourself or others, whether
physically or mentally.
Also, in this case, it isimportant, fundamental, to
maintain a positive mindset asyou, let's say, navigate, you
know, through life and pursuethe happiness you deserve.
(09:26):
Fifth pillar we have the rightlivelihood.
It means living ethically.
So if you buy bread and thebaker gives you the wrong change
I'm going to make this exampleyeah, be honest and return the
correct amount in a way to live, you know, to live in an ethical
(09:51):
way.
If you are in Morocco and dealwith an old man selling his
handcrafted creations.
Don't negotiate with him, as hemay need the money more than
you.
I'm sharing these two examplesbecause they happened to me all
right.
First, with the beggar, when Iwas young, anyway so long time
(10:13):
ago, and I felt so guilty that Iwent back with the money and I
say to them yeah, these are themoney for you.
I bought this three hours ago.
I bought the bread three hoursago.
And another example was inMorocco a few years ago.
You know, in Morocco there is atendency to negotiate in the
(10:35):
market.
We know it, they know it.
It's kind of a game, yeah, however, I still remember that
old man, his face and sadness, the disappointment when I
negotiated with him, and I stillremember that wasn't right.
(10:56):
You know when a thing is rightand wrong.
You have not to lie yourself.
We know when a thing is rightand wrong, you have not to lie
to yourself.
We know that we're human beingsand we are smart animals.
You know, guys, there aresituations in life where doing
the right thing doesn't costanything.
You actually get a smile andpositive energy from it.
(11:19):
You know, positive energy thatyou, you can use.
You can use to achieve yourhappiness and abandon
non-virtuous thoughts andactions.
(11:49):
Do you want to start a podcast?
If so, take action now.
What are you waiting for whileyou're still scrolling or
listening to me, while your liferemains on the same repetitive
cycle?
Do you wish to sell yourdelicious pastries, but you
cannot find the money?
Don't make assumptions.
(12:11):
Instead of making assumptions, take the first step.
It's okay to be scared, it'sokay to be disappointed.
You know it is okay to bescared.
It's okay to be disappointed, you know it is okay to face
disappointment, but many of youdon't even try to take the first
step.
The first step is curiosity.
(12:31):
That's the first step, and thenit's just taking action, step
by step.
Okay, seventh pillar right,mindfulness.
Right, mindfulness is the finalpillar that supports the right
(12:54):
concentration.
All right, it means being awareof your body, being aware of
your feelings and maintaining aclear consciousness.
Sometimes, guys, we lose trackof what we are doing because of
events in our lives sad eventsor even tragic.
We know that, but during thesetimes but during these times,
(13:18):
unfortunately we may losecontact with reality.
However, I have a helpful trickthat my fiancé taught me once
ago.
This is going to be veryhelpful with you.
(13:39):
So the name of the exercise isthe 5-4-3-2-1.
So, before starting thisexercise, just pay attention to
your breathing.
All right.
So slow, deep, long breaths canhelp you maintain a sense of
calm or help you return to acalmer state.
(14:00):
So, first of all, always use itwhen you are agitated or you
are anxious about something.
But in this particular caseit's very important to breathe
in and breathe out in a slow way.
So once you find your breath,go through the following steps
(14:24):
to help ground yourself.
All right.
First step is acknowledge fivethings you see around you.
Could be a pen, a spot, a weirdspot, maybe, maybe I don't know
, on the ceiling or somewhere.
Let's say anything thatsurrounds you, you know.
(14:49):
Number two acknowledge fourthings you can touch around.
You could be your, your air, apillow, the ground under your
feet.
You can touch around.
You Could be your air, a pillow, the ground under your feet.
Number three acknowledge threethings you hear.
This could be any externalsound.
(15:13):
If you can hear your bellygrumbling, that also counts,
okay.
So focus on things you can hear.
Number four acknowledge twothings you can smell.
Maybe you're in your office andyou're smelling a pencil, I
(15:35):
don't know.
Well, just make sure someonedoesn't notice you while you do.
Maybe, anyway, maybe you're inyour bedroom and you smell a
pillow.
It's still weird, yeah, butit's a very good exercise to
understand that you are here, you're alive and you're in this
(15:57):
reality.
Okay, okay, and anyway, alsokeeping still the two things you
can smell.
Another example if you'reoutside, you can smell anything.
You can smell the petrol, youcan smell nature itself.
You can always find somethingto smell, to hear, to touch, to
(16:20):
see especially.
And then there is the last one,one as acknowledge one thing
you can taste.
So what does the inside of yourmouth taste like?
Maybe come, maybe coffee, maybea sandwich from from lunch.
So this exercise, guys, isespecially beneficial for when
(16:46):
you are stressed or anxious, butgenerally it helps maintain a
sense of reality.
So it's a very, very goodexercise.
Now let's talk about the eighthpillar, the.
(17:13):
The eighth pillar, so as wesaid before, is more a ceiling
supported by the seven pillars.
We mentioned before the name ofthe.
Let's call it still eightpillar, the.
The name of the eighth pillaris right concentration, okay.
So when you find fulfillment inall seven pillars of life, what
happens?
Well, you naturally begin tofeel happier, and the right
(17:38):
concentration involvesmaintaining that happiness while
respecting the seven pillars.
All right, so it becomes apositive cycle.
If you like it, you can alsoreach this concentration through
practice like yoga andmeditation, but of course, it's
(17:58):
not fundamental.
Okay, what else?
What else?
What else?
Um, it's important to understandthat when your mind,
consciousness and spirit are atpeace, guys, you create more
(18:20):
space to realize your dreams, to, to understand what are your
dreams, or discover goals youmay not have previously
considered.
For example, before right, Imentioned the idea of starting a
podcast or a business.
The truth is, if you're alreadyhappy, any goal can be
(18:40):
fundamental to fulfilling yourpurpose.
Happy, any goal can befundamental to fulfilling your
purpose.
This could be something assignificant as becoming a parent
, or as simple as reading in alibrary while enjoying cozy
music, you know, while workingas a waiter for a company you
love.
I mean.
The key takeaway of thisepisode, the key takeaway of
(19:07):
this concept, is to prioritizehappiness.
So if you are not happy, guys, you will not achieve true
fulfillment.
It means you will not achieveyour purpose in life.
Okay, now let's recap the mainpoints a little bit.
First, it is important toacknowledge the problem of
(19:31):
suffering.
Sadness affects millionsworldwide and modern life can
feel like a repetitive cycletrapping people in
dissatisfaction.
The key question is how can onebreak free and find purpose?
So we introduced the NobleEightfold Path.
(19:53):
What is it, the Noble EightfoldPath?
It is a Buddhist framework toend suffering and reach
enlightenment, formed of eightprinciples with seven acting as
pillars supporting the finalgoal.
(20:13):
Right concentration.
Okay, regardless of spiritualbeliefs, these teachings help
clear suffering and create spacefor personal growth.
Guys, we then explain theEightfold Path properly.
(20:35):
So the first aspect is RightView, which contains the Four
Noble Truths Suffering exists,first truth.
Second truth suffering has acause.
Number three suffering can end.
And number four the good news, you know, is that there is a
path to end suffering.
So these four nobles are insidethe first aspect.
(21:00):
The first, uh, pillar, theright view, okay.
Number two right resolve.
What it's about is committingto liberating yourself from
suffering.
The resolution, you know.
Number three right speech.
So avoiding negative talk.
(21:21):
That's very important, avoidingnegative talk and be focused
more on a positive view and goalachievement.
Number four right action.
So, just in this case, actingethically and not harming
yourself or others, yourself orothers.
(21:44):
Number five right livelihoodEarning and living in a way that
aligns with moral values.
Number six right effort, takingaction instead of staying stuck
in fear or hesitation.
Number seven is the rightmindfulness.
(22:06):
It is being present and aware,of course, using grounding
technique to stay focused, likethe 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and then at
the end, we have rightconcentration.
It's about achieving innerpeace, making room for dreams
(22:28):
and goals.
All right, what is the coremessage here, guys?
The core message is thathappiness is the foundation of
personal success.
Without happiness, truefulfillment and purpose are
impossible.
Ok, so forget thought like oh,when I become rich, I'll be
(22:57):
happy.
No, no, no, no, no.
Forget situations like ok, whenI become the best begger in the
world, I'll be happy, or when Iopen a business, I'll be happy.
No, no, no, no.
It doesn't work like that Toomuch easier.
You have to be happy before.
(23:18):
So the Eightfold Path providesa way to clear suffering, regain
focus and create space formeaningful goals.
All right, now I would like tohear from you which of these
(23:39):
pillars resonates with you themost.
Have you ever practiced any ofthem in your daily life?

together.
