Send me a Text Message! I am Happy to Hear from You.

Have you ever felt guilty for taking a break? That nagging voice telling you that rest equals laziness? It's time to challenge that assumption.

Research reveals a surprising truth: strategic periods of "doing nothing" might be your secret weapon for enhanced creativity and productivity. When we allow our minds to wander without constant stimulation, we create space for unexpected connections, innovative ideas, and profound self-reflection.

I learned this lesson the hard way. After spreading myself thin across multiple projects simultaneously—podcasting, social media, trading studies, and online business development—I discovered that my primary passion suffered most. By the time I needed to tap into my creativity for new podcast episodes, my mental energy was completely drained. The quality of my work declined despite working more hours.

This episode explores three key benefits of embracing boredom: stress reduction that leads to increased positivity, creativity boosts that happen when we're not actively seeking inspiration, and present-moment awareness that grounds us in reality. I'll guide you through the practical 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique to help you reconnect with the present whenever anxiety creeps in.

Remember, even lions only hunt two or three times a week. Rest isn't laziness—it's a strategic approach to channeling your energy effectively. By incorporating intentional periods of doing nothing into your routine, you're building resilience and creating the mental space necessary for creativity to flourish.

What's your favorite way to embrace strategic rest? Share your thoughts, and join me on this journey to redefine productivity and success on your own terms.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
What if doing nothing could actually improve your
creativity?
Recent research, guys, suggeststhat boredom if managed
properly, you know, the factthat you do nothing has
significant benefits.
Moments of boredom can providea much-needed pause for both

(00:23):
your brain and body.
In a world filled with so manydistractions and endless
stimulation, experiencingboredom can create space for
daydreaming, generating newideas and stimulating innovation

(00:45):
.
So long periods of boredom, long periods of doing nothing,
can also lead you to reflect andconsider questions such as Am I
on the right path or am Imaking the right choices?
Hi guys, my name is Fabio fromJourney to Success, and welcome.

(01:07):
Today we are going to talkabout a common misconception
that doing nothing is completelyworthless.
The truth is that if you useyour time wisely during moments
of boredom, even doing nothingcan be a valuable resource in
achieving your success.
But, as always before to goforward, please subscribe.

(01:31):
So I know this is the rightdirection to lead you, to drive
you, to guide you towards yourjourney to success, and let's
get started as always.
So how can we effectivelyembrace the art of doing nothing
?
So, first of all, it can bequite challenging for many of us

(01:51):
.
Since life became so busy here, guys, it's also pretty
important to rest.
You know, if you think about it, when we are constantly engaged
with something, how can wepossibly envision our future or
work towards realizing ourdreams?
The answer is simple we can't.

(02:12):
We cannot do.
That's why we need a resetbutton.
There is a study that suggestsdoing nothing can actually
enhance our productivity andcreativity.
Not in the short term, ofcourse, but surely in the long

(02:34):
term, in the long run.
You know, I'm going to share apersonal experience to you to
illustrate better this point.
Illustrate better this point.
A time back, um, not so much faralso, I found myself trying to
be in multiple projects in amonth.
So I was like preparing apodcast and focusing on social

(02:56):
media, uh, studying trading, youknow.
Uh, try to open, opening aservice to sell online, so this
type of approach can spread yourtime and especially energy
everywhere.
So you are not targeted.
Okay, that's what happened withme, and it is hard to

(03:18):
understand when you stop, especially if you don't see real
progress.
The truth is that you just needto believe in the process.
Okay, just believe in theprocess, guys, but I mean,
that's another discussion we canhandle another time.
Now let's say my main prioritywas the podcast.

(03:39):
It's the podcast, but let'smake this example.
So let's say my priority wasthe podcast is the podcast, but
let's make this example.
So let's say my priority wasthe podcast.
But the moment I you know, Itake lessons, try to understand

(03:59):
how to trade during a month, isthe moment where my energy and
my time draw down.
Okay, in fact, in the past, when it came time to prepare the
new episode the following month, I found that I wasn't as
brilliant or inspired as I hadbeen before, because I had no

(04:25):
energy left, because I was doingtoo much, and at the end I
ended up that I really want tofinish quickly because I was
tired.
You know, even if the podcastis my priority, even if the
podcast is my passion, I tend toovercome it too much when I

(04:47):
realize I have a free time andI'm sure I'm not the only one.
But I have learned also thatthis approach is unproductive.
So it is crucial to prioritizeyour time and energy on what
truly matters, guys, okay.
So once you complete youressential tasks, just relax, do

(05:08):
nothing.
You might even take a break bywatching a telenovela on Netflix
.
It's okay.
This break will help yourecharge so that you can come
back stronger the next month, like a lion ready for the next
challenge, you know.
But also, talking about lions, even lions itself only need to

(05:29):
hunt two or three times a week.
You know what I mean?
Everyone needs to rest.
So I know that most of you thinkthat doing nothing, uh, may
seem like an act of laziness, huh, but honestly it's not.
It's not's not about death, notat all.
It's about giving your mind andyour soul the space it needs to

(05:50):
recharge.
It's about allowing both yourmind and body the opportunity to
rest, reset and simply existwithout any expectations or
pressure.
When you allow yourself to rest, it can be so refreshing, guys.
It doesn't matter if we talkabout enjoying a cup of coffee

(06:15):
while watching the world aroundyou, you know or lying on the
couch, or sitting outside andlistening to my podcast, for
example.
In these moments, your mind iscalm, your body relaxes and
everything feels a little morepeaceful.
However, it's important to usethe energy you accumulate during

(06:39):
this time to achieve your goalsand dreams later.
That's something you have notto forget right.
Otherwise, you may findyourself stuck in a cycle that
is difficult to escape.
As I mentioned earlier, if youspend too much time doing

(07:01):
nothing, you may start toquestion things like oh my god,
what am I doing with my life?
You know?
Something like that, questionlike this, can be impactful and
important for your future self,as they serve as a triggers to
start making different choices.
So it's still good, it's okay, but let's avoid reaching that
point.
Okay, you are capable to reachthis point and understand very

(07:34):
well and earlier, how to use theright energy at time in the
right moment.
Today, guys, we're going toexplore these three key points
about the value of taking timeto relax and how to channel that
energy in an effective way.
The first point is, of course, reducing stress.

(07:57):
When you rest properly, youexperience less stress.
If you are less stressed, youbecome more relaxed, and when
you are more relaxed, you tendto be more positive.
Okay, this positivity leads youto more prominent happiness.
In a previous episode, guys, wediscussed how to overcome

(08:23):
suffering and become happier, which is essential before you
start building any business.
Being happy from the morning, especially so as soon as you
wake up, is crucial forunderstanding your goals and
working towards your dreams.
Happiness not only boostsdopamine, known as the feel good
hormone, but also when you arehappy, guys, any challenges seem

(08:48):
easier to face because you willhave a positive attitude and
the right mindset to dive inOkay.
Second point Spark yourcreativity without looking for
them.
Looking for them Some of themost creative ideas and useful

(09:09):
solutions arise when we are notintentionally looking at them.
This happens because when youallow your mind to rest right,
it creates room for unexpectedconnections, linking together
things you hadn't realized wererelated, and mixing your

(09:32):
experiences with various areasof knowledge that you can
acknowledge only when you rest.
Okay, has it ever happened toyou like, while you sleep, that
you connect situations or evenmake calculations like a
mathematician, you know, whichyou could never do during the

(09:53):
day?
It's never happened to you.
You know that feeling when youwake up and suddenly have a
light bulb moment, thinking ohmy God, I understand now, or I
didn't know I was a genius, ithappened to me.
I'm sure this has happened toall of us.

(10:13):
I often come up with my bestideas, also for my podcast,
during and especially quietmoments, especially while
spending a restful weekend in acottage here in the Netherlands,
sometimes with my fiancé.
We like to, you know, to passbeautiful weekends in the middle

(10:35):
of the nature, but also doingsimple things like long walks in
the wood.
You know the smell of thenature, the sounds of the world
without the external noise.
Human smell of the nature, thesounds of the world without the
external noise, humandistractions, in the environment
, where animals are finallytaking over this ground.

(10:55):
I mean, this helps me reflecton my life.
This helps me reflect on myfuture.
It is a magical experience thatallows me to think deeply and
clearly.
It makes a difference, truly.
Third point it grants you in thepresent with less stress and

(11:21):
anxiety.
So this connects closely to theprevious point.
Right, doing nothing forces youto slow down and notice the
small things the sound ofanimals, the warmth of the sun
on your skin, the rhythm of yourbreath, the beat of your heart.
It brings you back to the hereand now.

(11:44):
Also, the fact that you are notprojecting your emotions onto
the future allows you torecognize, of course, during
these calm times, that thepresent, the present where we
live, the present where you live, is a gift.
So this realization can helpyou reduce anxiety and stress.

(12:05):
Okay, guys, so this realizationcan help you reduce anxiety and
stress.
Okay, guys, two episodes ago,we discussed a fundamental
exercise to help you staygrounded in the present moment
and reduce stress and anxiety.
The exercise is called the5-4-3-2-1 technique.

(12:26):
I'm going to guide you throughagain in this episode.
It may feel repetitive forthose who listened to the
previous episode, but it istruly essential to understand
that you exist right now, sofind yourself doing nothing.
Remember that this is a form ofrecovery, allowing you to

(12:47):
channel your energy when it'sthe right time to work hard for
your dreams.
Okay, before starting thisexercise, pay attention to your
breathing.
Slow, deep, long breaths canhelp you maintain a sense of

(13:14):
calm or help you return to acalmer state.
Okay, once you find your breath, guys go through the following
steps to help ground yourself.
Number one acknowledge fivethings you see around you.
It could be a pen, a spot onthe ceiling or anything in your
surroundings.
Number two acknowledge fourthings you can touch around you.

(13:39):
It could be your hair, a pillow, the ground under your feet.
Number three acknowledge threethings you hear.
This could be any externalsound.
If you can hear your bellyrumbling, that counts too.
Okay, focus on things you canhear.

(14:02):
Number four acknowledge twothings you can smell.
Maybe you are in your officeand smell a pencil, or maybe you
are in your bedroom and smell apillow, you know If you are
outside.
You can smell the petrol or not.
Nature itself, maybe the poopof a dog.
Number five acknowledge onething you can taste.

(14:26):
So what does the inside of yourmouth taste like?
Maybe gum, coffee, sandwich?
This exercise, guys, isespecially beneficial for when
you are stressed or anxious, but, generally talking, it helps
maintain a sense of reality.
Okay, now let's be a little bitfigurative.

(14:49):
Imagine these three keys that Iexplain right now and a big
silver door in front of you withthese three keyholes.
Okay, well, I'm not sure whythe door is silver.
I just imagined in my brain inthis way.

(15:10):
Let's say it's silver.
So this is the door ofresilience.
Anyway, by taking the time to donothing, you recharge your
energy and build the staminaneeded to face life's ongoing
challenges.
Okay, and that's the reason whyyou need to rest, so you can

(15:30):
use your energy where you reallyneed it.
All right Now let's break downthis episode towards seven
valuable points.
First, doing nothing isessential.
Doing nothing might sound lazy, but research shows that moments
of boredom can actually bebeneficial.

(15:52):
Boredom allows your mind toreset, creating space for
creativity and self-reflection.
Alright.
Number two the challenge ofdoing nothing.
In today's busy world it'stough to embrace inactivity, but
without moments of rest it'shard to work toward your goals

(16:15):
or dream about your future.
You know we need breaks torecharge, guys.
Remember that I overcommittedmyself to multiple projects in
my life Podcasting, social media, learning new skills.
Each drained me and suppressedsometimes my creativity.
Learning and resting are twosides of the same coin.

(16:39):
Don't forget it, okay?
Number three benefits of doingnothing with stress reduction.
Taking time to rest helpsreduce stress and improves your
mood.
Remember that when you arerelaxed you are more likely to
stay positive and focus on yourgoals.

(17:00):
Number four creativity boosts.
Some of the best ideas comewhen you're not busily trying to
be creative.
That's the truth.
Let your mind help you toconnect new dots and make room
for fresh ideas.
Number five being present.
Doing nothing helps you slowdown and enjoy the present

(17:22):
moment.
Life is so fast.
Enjoy the present moment.
The life is so fast.
Enjoy the present moment.
Slow down.
This can reduce anxiety, stress, you know, reminding you, of
course, that the present is agift.
Number six Five, four, three, two, one Grounding exercise.

(17:43):
This simple technique helps youstay grounded in the present
moment.
Number seven the door ofresilience.
I don't know how I came up withthe door of resilience, so if
you like to search on Google, Itell you, guys.
There is nothing about it so Idon't know how I came up.
But anyway, think of takingtime to do nothing as the key to

(18:06):
building resilience.
All right, it helps yourecharge, so you are ready to
face challenges with renewedenergy and determination.
Now I want to hear from youwhat is your biggest takeaway
from today's episode.
How do you embrace moments ofdoing nothing in your own life?
If this episode resonated withyou, please share it with

(18:30):
someone who could use a littlebit inspiration today.
Your support means the world tome, and sharing this message
can make a bigger impact thanyou think.
Remember, rest is just asimportant as us all.
Recharge, reflect and keepmoving forward.
Thanks for being part of theJourney to Success.

(18:50):
Family, and see you in the nextepisode, guys.
Cheers.
