(00:26):
dive into the deepest parts ofyourself.
I will share what I havelearned from my journey along
this path years of research andmentors along the way.
Having spent many years livinglife out of alignment and afraid
to go after my dreams, I knowfirsthand what it means to take
the first step down, living alife authentic to you.

(00:47):
We are on this road ofself-discovery together.
It is time for you to live thelife you imagined.
Hello, loves, welcome toanother episode of Journey to
the Soul.
So excited to be here with youthis week.
As we tune into this week'sepisode, I am going to be

(01:11):
sharing with you one of thebiggest things that has helped
me expand my mind, and we aregoing to be talking about
traveling today and this couldbe traveling abroad, but we're
also going to be talking aboutanother version of traveling and
how, when you travel, youbecome a student of the world

(01:36):
and you explore.
You know, exploring differentplaces our version of reality is
really so small, and doingsomething like traveling can
really help you expand yourperspective, and this has been
something that has been sopivotal in my growth and it's

(01:57):
something that I continuouslysee as I travel.
Today, I feel like every time Igo somewhere, I come back a
slightly different person, witha different perspective of life,
because each place that I go toalways gives me a different
experience, because of thepeople, the culture, the

(02:22):
language that is spoken, thepeople, the culture, the
language that is spoken, everything, the places that you
get to experience, the peoplethat you get to meet it all
changes your perception of theworld.
So, with every experience likethis, you're constantly changing
your worldview.

(02:43):
Like this, you're constantlychanging your worldview,
constantly expanding yourworldview, and before 2016, I
had actually never been on aplane before.
My first plane ride, believe itor not, was when I moved to
Tennessee from California, whichis where I am originally from.

(03:05):
I was 20 years old and shortlyafter that, I went on my first
trip internationally in 2018.
And that was such aneye-opening experience for me.
Before then, I had never beenabroad and you can see that it

(03:30):
was quite a jump from being onmy first plane two years ago and
then going on my firstinternational trip two years
later.
Before that trip, my worldreally consisted of the city and
the state that I lived in,which I know is most of us.

(03:51):
There's a lot of people thathave never explored beyond that,
you know, beyond the place thatthey have been to, beyond their
hometown, their home state.
To be on their hometown, theirhome state and I am originally
from Los Angeles and LA isreally a world within itself.

(04:12):
Anyone who has ever been therecan probably tell and feel that,
and I had traveled very littlewithin the US as well.
I had been, I think, maybe toArizona and I had gone to Nevada
a few times, but my travelbeyond that and I also went to

(04:35):
Mexico a few times as well, downsouth when I was a kid, but I
barely remember that.
But before then, my world wasvery, very small, and the
international trip that I didwas in the summer of 2018, and I
went to Paris and London and Icompletely fell in love, and it

(05:00):
has really been in the last fiveyears that I really began to
travel the world.
It's been something that hasbeen so pivotal to my growth and
my evolution over those fiveyears that it's played a big
role as well.
And I know that other placesaround the world can travel with

(05:23):
a bit more ease.
There's Europe, for example, where there are many countries
within a short distance.
So there are certain places inthe world where they're able to
be exposed to quite a bit ofcultures and diversity at quite
a young age, because two hoursaway via plane you are in a

(05:47):
different country and it's notquite like that in the US.
You know the US is very big, north America is very big and
for easy travel wise you eithergo somewhere within the US, you
go to Canada, or you go down toMexico, and then you know South

(06:08):
America is really more of alittle bit of a long-haul flight
.
So we're a little bit moreisolated in what we get to see
and experience in North America.
And when you visit other placesin the world you can see how
diverse they are and how a lotof these places particularly

(06:34):
Europe, but we could also see itin different parts of Asia,
southern Asia too that withinjust a couple of hours they
could be in a completelydifferent culture with a
different language, differentfood, different weather,
different everything.
So, being in North Americasometimes I know that that also

(06:59):
adds another layer into whatwe're able to experience at a
younger age, but that shouldn'treally inhibit us from going out
and traveling by any way.
Shape or form.
And the world if we allowourselves to experience it, can
be our greatest teacher.

(07:20):
There is so much for us tolearn from it and the people in
it.
This isn't just about visitingthe place, but it's the people,
the customs, the language, looking at other cultures and
how other people choose to livetheir life.
I know that what I'm talkingabout is not as easily

(07:45):
accessible to everyone, butthere are ways to make this
affordable.
Where you can work on planninga trip that you really want to
do, bit by bit, and making itcome into fruition, you can
travel very minimally.
It really just takes someplanning and some devotion to

(08:08):
really want to do that, and thisis honestly why I didn't travel
for the first chapter of mylife.
It wasn't a priority and Ialways thought that I couldn't
afford it.
And I remember going on thisfirst trip to Europe with my
sister, and I think I spent thebetter part of a year working

(08:31):
and saving to make the most outof it, because I had never done
this before and I dreamed ofgoing to Paris.
Paris was always a place that Iwanted to go, and she knew that
, so that's why we chose thesetwo cities.
It is such a transformationalthing to experience another

(08:51):
country, another way of life, and that experience completely
changed my view of the world andI realized that there was so
much more to life than what Iwas experiencing day to day and
the little world that I lived inand that I had created for

(09:14):
myself.
There was so much more toexperience than simply living in
my city or my state or mycountry, simply living in my
city or my state or my country, and the world completely opened
up to me.
And I know I talk about thiswith some people sometimes too

(09:38):
who also love to travel.
And I know traveling is not foreveryone, especially traveling
abroad, and I think that that'stotally fine.
Everyone has, you know whatthey value and what brings
lightness and joy into theirlife.
But I know that if you do loveto travel and you allow yourself
to experience it, it reallybecomes like an itch of just

(09:59):
wanting to see and experience asmuch as possible when you begin
to think about traveling.
If you have never reallytraveled abroad before, you can
do it so many different ways.
Or even if you do alreadytravel, perhaps right now you

(10:21):
travel more with your partner orfamily.
I think that diversifying theway that you travel and doing a
little bit of everything willbring something different to
each one of those experiences.

(10:51):
Traveling by yourself if youtravel a lot with friends and
family, being by yourselfsomewhere will be so different
than going on a trip with afamily or friend to the same
place, and what I'm trying tohighlight here is that there's
value in all of this because youwill have more time to be alone
.
If you decide to travel alone, and you might be more prone to

(11:12):
meeting certain people versus,of course, going with your
partner or family or friends, you might just be creating more
experiences with them, which, ofcourse, there is value in all
of this.
There is value in all of this, and I travel a lot with my
partner.
I travel a lot with familyfriends.

(11:41):
His family travels quite a bit,and so does mine, so those are
kind of our main ways to travel, but something that I want to be
more intentional about is doinga little bit more solo travel,
and not something that I havebeen doing in my life the last
couple of years.
So every year, I choose onething to do by myself, one trip
to go on that doesn't involveanyone else, and I think that

(12:05):
has been really good for me.
And, again, it just expands youin such a different way to, of
course, be self-sufficient andcomfortable and confident enough
to go do this, but to also justopen yourself up to everything
that's there for you toexperience.

(12:26):
The other huge thing that Iwanted to talk about in this
episode is that traveling canalso be something that you do
with your mind.
It's the act of going somewhere, it's experiencing something
different, and that is the keyto really this entire episode.

(12:52):
So the one thing that willexpand your mind is travel, but
there's more than just aphysical way to do this.
I do believe that you can alsotravel within your mind.
If you have the ability tophysically travel, I strongly
encourage you to do that, butthat is not the only way.

(13:14):
So, whether you have the meansor not, the next point that I'm
about to touch into is somethingthat really all of us should be
leaning to, because it'saccessible to us all should be
leaning to, because it'saccessible to us all.
But especially if you feel likeright now you know traveling is

(13:41):
very limited physical travel, then I really encourage you to
lean into this.
Next point and the definition oftravel, when you take a look at
it, is really to move or to gofrom one place to another.
So some kind of transport, somekind of changing your
environment, changing yourlocation, and that's something

(14:03):
that doesn't have to be donephysically.
To be done physically.
Reading you can explore otherworlds from the comfort of your
home and it really brings thesame exact thing into your life
when you take a closer look atit.
When you read, it's the same asif you are going and

(14:35):
experiencing a new place.
When you read, you are open andreceptive, you are learning and
taking in, you are visualizingin your mind.
This is the same thing when youtravel abroad, to different
countries and worlds on theother side of the world, and
this is one of the reasons Ilove to read.
You probably know that ifyou've heard some of my other

(14:55):
podcast episodes about books myfavorite books of 2023, and some
of my favorite books thatchanged my life you can listen
to those episodes later if youwant to.
And I am such a curious soul andI've always loved to learn and

(15:15):
I have always loved to go toplaces that don't exist in this
realm.
And growing up, all I wouldread was fantasy and I would
really read just about anything, but this was by far my favorite
genre when I was a kid, growingup.
Reading is a form of magic howa book can transport you to

(15:40):
another day and age, anotherworld, another life, and you
learn so much from every bookyou read.
Life, and you learn so muchfrom every book you read.
And it really doesn't matter ifit's fiction or non-fiction.
Of course, non-fiction is verymuch of it is going to be very

(16:00):
focused on.
You know it'll be more blackand white things in terms of
what you can learn from them, but with fiction, these are life
situations, life lessons thatyou learn through the
interactions with characters.
It's the same thing that weexperience in this life to some

(16:22):
degree.
It's how to be brave, how to becompassionate, how to go after
what you want, even if it all isin a different world, in a
different time period, in acompletely different place in
life.
And reading truly is still myone true love and when I didn't

(16:43):
have the means to explore theworld physically.
This allowed me to still travel, and I'm so grateful that
reading came into my life whenit did, because it was at a very
pivotal moment in my life.
I was very young when Iactually started reading as much
as I used to and still do, andit was a very hard time in my

(17:07):
life and it really became anescape for me, so I was able to
experience this early on in life.
If you don't have the means tophysically go somewhere, I
encourage you to read as much asyou can, and it doesn't matter
what people tell you that youshould and shouldn't be reading,

(17:30):
that fiction doesn't count orthat you should be reading these
books on nonfiction, or you seeeveryone reading all of the
same books.
Find books that feed your souland your mind, and there's a
reason that they do feed yoursoul and this will do so much
for you in your life.

(17:52):
Traveling brings so much intoour life, whether it's through
reading or visiting new placesacross the world, and one of the
biggest things that you realizeis that there is no one way to
do life.
You can prioritize what youwant.

(18:14):
You can focus your energy onwhatever you want to do.
You get to choose what youvalue, and you can see that so
clearly in how some countriesvalue certain things over others
and how they choose to live dayto day.

(18:34):
I've talked about this inanother podcast episode.
If you want to listen in on howthe Italians do this, the
episode is called Embracing theArt of Italian Living, but it's
really everywhere that you cansee this.

(18:55):
So you realize that therereally is no such thing as
normal or the right way.
Those constructs dissolvebecause there is no normal.
There is just what you value.
Traveling also shows you how bigthe world truly is, and you can

(19:20):
spend your life discoveringother parts of the world.
The place you live is only one.
You can meet new people, peoplewho live and do life in a

(19:46):
different way than you do.
This allows you to be able toalso make friends.
All around the world.
You can find people who aremore aligned with you and your
values.
Perhaps you struggle to findpeople where you live to connect
with at a deeper level.

(20:06):
There are over 8 billion peoplein this world.
You will find those you connectwith.
You really will.
It makes you more compassionatebecause you open your heart up
to all the different people inthis world, you realize how

(20:27):
different they can be from youin so many ways.
You learn to honor and accepteach other, regardless of race,
sex, religion.
Anything that you feel hasseparated you from them suddenly
dissolves because you just seethat they are just people as

(20:50):
well.
When you read, in particular, you learn invaluable lessons
about people and life.
You get to experience otherways of being, and your
perspective of life changes witheach place you visit or each
book you read.
So every time you pick up abook, know that that is

(21:12):
expanding your worldview.
Know that that is expandingyour worldview, regardless of if
it is fiction or nonfiction.
I have been able to discover 17countries in the last six years

(21:32):
and this, to me, is just ascratch on the surface to all
the places that one canexperience, and I visited many
of them multiple times becausethey simply capture my heart.
There are certain places thatwill call to your soul.
These places in the world existfor all of us if we allow

(21:57):
ourselves to explore.
There can be places that feelmore like home than your home.
So if you feel intrigued orcalled to explore somewhere in
the world, I encourage you to dothat, because there is a reason
that you have that yearning.

(22:18):
Travel really has become moreand more important to me over
the last few years.
Life experiences, learning, making memories these are things
that I truly value in my life, and traveling is able to gift me
all of this, to any of us, andright now it is a huge part of

(22:44):
my life and I believe that italways will be, and I just got
back from a six-week tripthrough three different
countries, and I always comeback home just overfilled with
gratitude at the ability to beable to do this and experience

(23:05):
these things.
I love looking back at thepictures or the book I picked up
, or whatever else, and be ableto experience it in the most
micro way when I get back home.
The places you will see, thepeople you will meet, what you

(23:26):
will experience will completelytransform you, and it doesn't
need to be in this way.
Do what you can where you are.
Investing your time intotraveling, physically or through
reading, is invaluable.
It has been my greatest teacherand continues to be.

(23:50):
If you want to grow, if youwant to expand, if you're
craving to level up your life insome way really in any area of
life read, travel, go,experience something other than
the world that you experience ona daily basis, because it will

(24:16):
do so much more for you than alot of other things that we try
to invest our time and energy on.
I look forward to talking to youall in my next episode.
I might be posting a little bitsporadically over the coming
weeks.
We are actually in the processof moving.

(24:41):
There are some life changesgoing on.
We are probably going to bemoving at the end of the year
and with the holidays as welland everything.
I'm just taking it a day at atime, so I will be posting a

(25:02):
little bit sporadically as weget ready to move abroad
actually, and I'll be talkingabout that more as it comes into
fruition more.
But thank you so much fortuning into this episode.
I am sending you so much loveand light and I will talk to you
