Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hi, loves, welcome to the Journey to the Soul podcast
.
I am your host, jacinda Villa,a spiritual life coach and
holistic health coach.
Every week, we will be divingdeep into all things purpose,
wellness, spirituality andcreating the life that you dream
of.
This space is meant to be safeand transformative for you to

(00:26):
dive into the deepest parts ofyourself.
I will share what I havelearned from my journey along
this path years of research andmentors along the way.
Having spent many years livinglife out of alignment and afraid
to go after my dreams, I knowfirsthand what it means to take
the first step down, living alife authentic to you.

(00:47):
We are on this road ofself-discovery together.
It is time for you to live thelife you imagined.
Hello, my loves, welcome toanother episode of the podcast.
Episode of the podcast.

(01:09):
I am so excited to have youhere with me for another week of
Journey to the Soul.
Wherever you are tuning in from, it is so amazing for me to see
where everyone tunes in fromplaces from all over the world.
So, wherever you are listeningfrom, hello, welcome to this
week's episode.
I hope you have a cup of coffeeor tea with you as you take in

(01:34):
this week's episode because it'sa little bit more of a juicy
one.
There's going to be a lot ofthings that we're going to be
talking about today for you toponder on, and things like that.
So cozy up and let's getstarted.
I wanted to start this episodewith talking about how

(01:59):
mindfulness has reallytransformed my life.
I have talked about meditationsand how I meditate and that
being a practice in my life inother podcast episodes, but
mindfulness has trulytransformed every aspect of my
life and it's something that hasbecome more of a mainstream

(02:23):
conversation over the last fewyears.
I feel it has gained a lot ofinterest, because us being able
to be mindful what that bringsinto our lives is really
something that the world justneeds more of right now.
Right, and it is really a seedthat you plant and it grows when

(02:48):
you water it.
So, when it comes tomindfulness, I really love
looking at it through differentlenses of life, because it makes
you aware of the things thatyou would not notice otherwise.
And that's what mindfulnessbrings to us when we meditate or

(03:08):
when we sit and do some breathwork or we just give ourselves
space to be is that it simplyallows you to notice things that
you can't always see, when youare constantly going or in a
rush or in a state of anxiety orsurvival, and when you start

(03:32):
practicing any kind ofmindfulness in your life, it
really is something that youapply into every aspect of life,
and that's something that Iwant to talk about in a whole
other episode, because I trulyfeel like meditation has been
something that has gifted me,that it's allowed me to just be

(03:57):
mindful in every aspect of life,to be intentional in every area
of my life, to be intentionalin every area of my life, and I
want to dive into that more withyou in the coming weeks.
But today I really want us toexplore mindfulness when it
comes to what we consume and theelements of life we focus our

(04:23):
energy on.
Your energy is gold.
It is worth so much, and thereis only so much that you can do
in this life, because we onlyhave so much time all of us
which means that there is onlyso much that we can experience

(04:47):
is only so much that we canexperience, only so much we can
learn, only so many people wecan meet, only so many places we
can go and visit, and it can behard for some of us to really
accept that.
Some people might actually notwant to accept it at all, but
it's really a perspective toexplore because it allows us to
discern the things that aremeaningful to us.

(05:11):
And, as you listen to thisepisode today, I want you to
create space so you can reallysit with these concepts we will
be discussing and the questionsI will be asking you as well.
So, if you are a journal person, I would love if you pull out

(05:32):
your journal whether that's aphysical one or on your iPad, on
your phone, and just giveyourself space and the ability
to be radically honest aboutwhat comes up as we move through
these exercises.
I really want you to let go ofany expectations that you may

(05:54):
have about yourself or thatothers may have about you.
This is simply between you andyou.
This is a time to reallyconnect to what is important to
you so that you can live thelife intended for you.
If you happen to be listeningto this while you are

(06:17):
multitasking, come back to it atanother moment in time so you
could really take some time towork through the questions.
We're going to be looking atthe three steps to living an
intentional life and you canwork over the next three parts
at your own pace, and the firstthing that we're going to be

(06:40):
touching on is about your values.
I have talked in other podcastepisodes about how identifying
your values is so pivotal foryou to live a life that is in
alignment for you and the utterimportance of them.

(07:02):
I talk about it in the podcastepisode called Crafting your
Canvas, which is all aboutdesire, manifestation joy and
really creating the life thatyou want for yourself from a
different lens.
So I would highly suggest thatyou listen to that as well as

(07:24):
this episode.
For you to really be in chargeof your life and the life that
you want to live.
Every moment of your lifecounts and you really need to
ask yourself what are the thingsfor you that are a
non-negotiable in your life.
It's so important for us todiscern the things that are

(07:50):
really important enough so wecan make sure that we are
devoting our time and energyinto what we value and desire.
I am linking a list of valuesfor you to look at.
If you may struggle to identifyyour values, you might not know

(08:10):
where to start with it.
I really encourage you to lookthrough the list.
See what stands out to you fromthe list and you'll kind of be
able to immediately notice whatfeels resonant for you and your
values truly become your anchorin life.
They anchor you into yourauthenticity of who you really

(08:35):
are and what is meaningful toyou.
Your values may change overtime as you grow and evolve and
expand as a human being on thisplanet.
There will be different seasonswhere you value certain things.
If you are in a season ofbuilding in your life, maybe you
value resilience andconsistency and devotion

(09:08):
devotion.
If you are in a season ofmotherhood and that's something
that's really high on your listthen perhaps you value presence
and kindness and joyfulness.
For the purpose of today, I wantyou to think about everything
that you do or consume in a daythe people you interact with,

(09:29):
the places you go to.
The books you read the podcastsyou listen to the food you eat,
the conversations you have, thework you do every day, the
music you listen to, what youconsume on social media, the

(09:50):
people you follow on therereally take some time to think
about and process in all theways you put your energy into
something each and every day,big and small.
Out of all the things that cometo mind.

(10:10):
Ask yourself what is trulyimportant to you and makes your
life worth living.
What brings you joy, whatbrings you a deep sense of peace
and purpose every day?
What makes you feel alive?

(10:31):
What makes you happy dance?
What makes you laugh so harduntil your belly hurts?
What do you wish you could domore of?
Take some time reflecting onthese questions as we get ready
to move on.
The second thing that we aregoing to be looking at is

(10:56):
removing what isn't working fromyour life With your values in
hand.
Notice what is draining yourenergy.
Be candid with yourself.
We can constantly tellourselves that we are only going
to spend only a few minutesdoing something that really

(11:20):
isn't the best use of our time, and we know that.
We all have something that wedo, that we know we could be
doing something else that wereally should be doing or would
rather do, but we're doing thisnow and we kind of feel guilty
about it.
I'm just going to give you anexample Scrolling on your phone

(11:45):
for 15 minutes every day, thatadds up to two hours a week
almost, and I know most peoplefeel like they never have enough
time.
We don't have enough time to dothe things that we really want
to do, to do certain things, tobe more present with our kids,

(12:07):
to cook dinner every night andand, if you wanted to, you could
start cooking dinner at homefive days a week, or go on a
walk once a day or meditate for10 minutes.
Those two hours that you spenda week would allow you to meal

(12:34):
prep dinner for two hours forthe week, or spend 20 minutes
each evening cooking a simplemeal.
You can go for a walk for 25minutes five days out of the
week.
You could meditate every dayand still have time left over.
And we always find reasons, andwhat we need to be asking

(13:00):
ourselves is where are we reallyfocusing our energy on?
We all get the same 24 hours ina day.
We need to be intentional aboutour time.
Audit your life, look at all ofthe areas that we referenced

(13:22):
before.
It can be in the smallest ways, but really only pour energy
into the things that add meaningto your life.
The last step for living anintentional life is to discern
and progress With your valuesand energy drains identified.

(13:47):
You can now make life choicesthat are in alignment with the
life you want to live when youare trying to make a decision
about committing to something ornot.
Simply ask yourself if this isaligned with you.
Evaluate it from the lens ofyour values and desires.

(14:07):
If it is and it brings valueinto your life in some way, move
forward with it.
If not, let it go.
There are no ifs, ands or butshere.
You don't owe anyone anexplanation about your life and
why you are choosing not to dosomething that isn't right for

(14:30):
you.
Choosing not to do somethingthat isn't right for you.
Even if you may not fullyunderstand your own desires,
your values, you owe it toyourself to live your life as
you wish.
Once you do the first two steps, this last one will be quite
straightforward.
This last one will be quitestraightforward For everything

(14:55):
that you evaluate in your life.
I want you to think of yourenergy as currency, as gold.
Every time you go and dosomething, it requires an
exchange of that gold.
Ask yourself if this is reallyworth it.
We all want to do all the thingsin this life, but we can only

(15:20):
do so much at once.
We can only take on so manythings at a single time.
This has helped me so much withbeing very intentional with my
time and energy, and there areso many things that I want to do
, learn, read, places I want totravel to.

(15:45):
I want to do as much aspossible throughout my entire
life.
Of course, I know I don't wantto live my life through others,
by being on my phone on socialmedia, spending my time doing
things I don't like or enjoy, not really living and enjoying

(16:06):
my life in the here and now.
And there is nothing inherentlywrong with social media.
It is all in the way in whichwe use it, the energy we have
behind it.
However, most people use it asa way to escape from their life

(16:28):
and it can easily become anaddiction, and we all have our
own values and recognize whatreally aligns with us, and this
is me just sharing personallythat social media is something
that I really don't likespending much time on at all.
I recognize it and I spend aslittle time as possible because

(16:50):
I rather spend my time doingsomething else, something that
nurtures my soul, something thatlays another brick down towards
the life that I'm building, andthe cost to value ratio between
time and what it brings into mylife just really isn't there.
And this is something that I'vebeen able to identify by

(17:13):
auditing my life, which, interms, allows us to focus on how
we spend our time, money andresources.
I've done a version of a lifeaudit throughout the last couple
of years of my life.
Every so often.
I do one every year.
I do one for the year to come, and I've been doing this for

(17:37):
quite a while, so I am prettyclear about what it is I want to
focus my energy on and, like Imentioned at the beginning, what
you value and what you do wantto focus your energy on is going
to change, so you have to haveclarity around what that is what

(17:59):
you do want to focus on.
You can see how becoming awareof you can see how becoming
aware of this can allow you toreally take charge of your life.
Do you want to get to the end ofyour life and realize that you
did not experience as much joyas you wish you had?

(18:20):
You didn't spend as much timewith those you love.
You didn't explore the placesthat you yearn to go to.
You didn't read the books youreally wanted to read.
You didn't do work that wasdeeply meaningful to you.
You didn't spend your time withthe people that you love.

(18:41):
You didn't spend your daysexperiencing anything that was
truly important to you, a wholelife lost, and this evaluation
brings you certainty about whatyou are certain is worth

(19:01):
focusing your energy on.
What do you know is right andtrue and authentic to you and
deserves more of that?
It really is such a wonderfultime to reflect on these things
as we get ready to embark on anew year soon.
Working through this exerciseevery year to realign with the

(19:23):
life you want to live can betransformational.
Doing something like this iskind of like getting a tire
alignment or an oil change.
It's to make sure that you'reon the right track, that
everything is good, before youcarry on for your journey,

(19:45):
taking the time to do it so thatyou don't begin the new year.
Whether you're listening tothis right before the new year
starts or whenever you listen tothis, this will come to you at
the right time for you to listento it, but it doesn't matter
when.
But it's just for you to have amoment to realign, to reground

(20:09):
yourself and make sure that youare on the right path.
If you've wavered a little bit,you can also come back to it
every few months or once aquarter.
You can really feel out whatfeels right to you.
Some of us may need a moreconsistent reminder, while other
people like to have theintentions and putting them out

(20:33):
into the world.
Until you revisit them again ina year, and every time you do
it it will look different as youevolve and our desires evolve,
and our values do as well.
We get to choose what we focusour energy on.
We are in the driver's seat ofour life.

(20:54):
If there's something that isnot really working for us in
some aspect of life, guess whatwe get to choose what we want to
do with it and we can say, okay, great, it's been good so far
and let it go and carry on withwhat really counts.
So ask yourself is the life youare living fulfilling?

(21:19):
Are you working towardssomething meaningful?
Do you know it with certainty?
It's never too late to take astep towards doing that, towards
living a life that you intended.
It doesn't matter how old youare, what season of life you are

(21:39):
in, what part of the world youlive in.
At any moment of your life, youcould choose to do something
small, to take the step slightlymore towards where you want to
go, and that should be somethingthat just fills us with so much
peace because, even though itcan feel like we are not living

(22:04):
the life that is intended for us, and sometimes we don't even
know how to cross that pathbetween where we are now and the
life that we do want to lead, taking the first step is truly
all that matters.
So, in the most micro way today, see where you can take your

(22:26):
first tiny step, because life isalways unfolding beautifully
and divinely for us.
I am still getting ready for ourmove.

(22:54):
That will be happening in thenext couple of weeks too, so
I'll still be posting a bitsporadically, but I am sending
you all so much love.
Take care of yourself and let'sbe kind to one another.
Till then, and family, I'd loveto hear your takeaways, so

(23:26):
share them with me by leaving acomment below or heading over to
my Instagram at Jacinda Marie.
I am sending you all so muchlove.
