Speaker 1 (00:02):
Good morning.
If you're listening to this inthe morning, welcome back to the
podcast Journey to Well.
I am your host, hannah, and Ihave not done a solo podcast
episode.
I mean, I didn't even look andcount back, but it has to be at
least three months, probablymore, and I am so excited to
(00:25):
hang out with you all today.
I love doing these solopodcasts because it's just a
time that I personally feel likewe are just hanging out.
I have my morning mushroomcoffee, but coffee, and I
imagine us just kind of sittingon the couch having a
conversation and just chatting,so hopefully that you, hopefully
(00:49):
you can get comfortable.
And it feels similar to you aswell, because one of my goals
for this podcast, for mycommunity, my social media
community and everything thatI'm creating, is truly to build
relationships and connections.
And it's a little bit oddsometimes to be talking to a
camera and a microphone and notbe sitting next to someone and
(01:12):
having a conversation, butthat's how I imagine it, because
that is that's the goal for meto create this intimate
community even on social media, which sounds very opposing.
But I digress, let's take a sip.
So today I really want to talkabout summer energy.
(01:36):
This is going to be a littlecatch up episode of where the
heck is Hannah in the world andher life, as well as how can we
keep our nervous systemsregulated?
Another word for that is justhow can we stay fucking sane
throughout the summer?
The summer tends to be reallyhigh energy, really busy, and it
(02:01):
can feel very draining if we'renot mindful.
And yet we can make these smallshifts by looking at our human
design, energy type, by lookingat where we are in our menstrual
cycle and by taking somemoments to practice meditation,
grounding, breath work.
I'm going to give you somebreath work exercises that you
(02:24):
can incorporate into your summeractivities so hopefully we get
to the end of the summertogether, feeling rested,
feeling excited that we just hadone of the best summers of our
lives.
I am claiming it right now andstating it with you as my
(02:44):
witness this is going to be oneof the best summers of my life
and I want to invite thatinvitation for you and that
statement for you as well.
So, hot girl nervous system, let's talk about it.
Girls and boys.
Obviously, a lot of my audienceis female oriented, but if you
are a male listening to this, don't turn it off because
there's a lot of my audience isfemale oriented, but if you are
(03:05):
a male listening to this, don'tturn it off, because there's a
lot of really beautiful tidbitsin here that are going to be
very supportive for you as well, and or supportive for you to
share with the women in yourlife, whether that's a partner,
your mom, your sister, your bestfriend.
So should we start with thewith the tea?
(03:28):
Should we start with updatingyou on my life?
The past few years have trulybeen a whirlwind.
If you listen to some of mysolo podcast episodes, you'll
get these tidbits and updates onmy life.
I am feeling very much that Iam at another crossroads in my
(03:51):
business where I am honestly ooh, let's get real intimate.
Not sure that I wanted to sharethis, but it's coming up so
we'll share it.
I'm honestly at this point inmy life where I'm considering
how much do I want to dovirtually?
How much client work do I wantto do virtually on Zoom and
(04:11):
allow these clients to come intomy life from all over the
country and all over the world?
Or do I want to switch to morein-person work?
I'm finally at a place where Iknow that I'm going to stay in
New Hampshire.
I spent the past 10 to 11 yearsliving in different states and
(04:33):
different towns and reallyexperiencing so much of the
world and different cultures anddifferent people and I loved
all of it.
And I was away from my familyfor 10 years and away from my
niece and nephew and my parentsand my sister and my dad and I
didn't know how much I missedthem until I came back and I
(05:00):
didn't know the depth that Imissed them.
I knew that I missed them a lot, but I didn't know the depth to
which I missed them.
And and it's more of this soulcraving and that really goes to
show we just know when we'reliving in alignment and we know
when we're not living inalignment.
And when we're not living inalignment we try to convince
(05:22):
ourselves that we are.
Like when I was living in rightoutside of New York, it was one
of the most fun experiences ofmy life.
I 1000% do not regret it and Ilearned so much and I grew so
much and it was not in alignmentwith who I was and for so many
(05:43):
reasons.
I mean I'm not a city girl, I'mdefinitely a country girl.
I was away from my family, I wasaway from my best friends, like
away from my people and mytribe and that's really where
creating a tribe was birthed, because I felt so alone after I
got out of that seven yearlongrelationship and learned so much
(06:06):
right, like there's so much tolearn there but there was a
piece of me that was missing andnow that I'm back in New
Hampshire, that piece, thatfinal like puzzle piece it's
there.
It's just there and I didn'thave to do anything besides move
, come back home.
Home to me has always beenpeople.
(06:27):
It's never been a place and Ican make a home anywhere and I
did make a home multiple places, but finally I, my soul, is at
home.
So I'm feeling very much atthis.
That was a tangent, but verymuch in this crossroads of do I
(06:50):
this?
That was a tangent, but verymuch in this crossroads of do I
shift my business to more inperson, one on one work where we
are combining breathwork andhuman design and a little bit of
cycles and you know some likecrystals and tarot and energy
work and Reiki and all thethings like crystals and tarot
and energy work and Reiki andall the things or do I continue
the trajectory that I'm on?
So that's something to marinateon, a little seed to plant, and
(07:12):
if you have any advice ordownloads that come to you, feel
free to reach out.
I'm totally open to hear them.
Life is good Life.
This is going to be the bestsummer.
I just feel very calm, veryaligned, very in flow, and let's
talk a little bit about some ofthe ways that this has been
(07:34):
created in my life by learningand diving deeper into my human
design and my cycle, my humandesign and my cycle.
So here is the juice of thepodcast we're going to start
with talking about human design, energy types and how learning
your human design energy typecan help you ride this summer
(07:57):
wave without over committing andburning out, without coming to
the end of the summer and beinglike that was a whirlwind.
I felt like my feet never hitthe ground, um, and I had a lot
of fun, but I'm exhausted.
A lot of clients that I workwith, a lot of conversations
that I have, are centered aroundI feel very exhausted and like
(08:23):
the life that I'm leading.
The lifestyle that I'm leadingis not sustainable and I'm not
really sure what shifts to make, because it can feel very
overwhelming.
So let's go through the fivedifferent energy types.
If you are listening to this,I'm going to assume that you've
heard other podcasts of mine.
If you have not, great Welcome.
(08:44):
So happy to have you here.
And there's a podcast that I'mgoing to link at the bottom of
the show notes that goes overmore in depth the five energy
types of human design.
So I'm just going to kind ofbreeze through them for time's
sake and for not repeating tootoo much.
But go, go and listen to thatepisode after you listen to this
(09:08):
one, because I'm still going tolay a pretty strong foundation.
So we have five different energytypes in in human design.
Those five the, the, the energytypes are how our energy most
easily flows and how we can usethis knowledge to live in a
(09:30):
little bit more of alignment andconnection.
You all can think back andmaybe this is a fun exercise to
do right now to think back to atime in your life where you just
felt like life was reallyflowing, like there was a lot of
ease, there wasn't a lot ofresistance, it just felt like,
(09:51):
you know, pieces were just kindof falling into place and and
life was good.
Those might have beensituations in your life where
you've incorporated more of thisalignment to your own energy
without even knowing it.
So kind of keep that in theback of your head as we're
talking and begin to make someof those connections.
So the five energy types wehave are generator, manifester,
(10:15):
manifesting generator, projectorand reflector, and all of these
energy types have their ownlittle characteristics and have
their own superpowers, and inthis podcast we're going to talk
about how we can use eachenergy types superpower to align
and really thrive in summer.
(10:35):
In the other podcast episodeI'm referencing where we're just
kind of going over the basicsof each energy type.
So totally two differentconversations but same
conversation topic of energytype.
So let's start with generators.
Generators are I always thinkof them like this like generator
(10:59):
, like a generator when you losepower.
They have this big battery andthey're really here to generate
energy into the universe, intotheir lives and other people's
lives.
However, just like a generatorneeds some sort of battery
source, it needs to bring thatenergy from somewhere we need as
(11:24):
generators.
Your invitation is to make surethat you're really doing what
lights you up.
So one of the invitations foryou as you are moving through
this summer is asking yourselfwhat lights me up and playing
around with it.
This is the summer of curiosity, of play, of exploration.
(11:48):
What lights me up, what bringsme energy?
And, to be honest, it's goingto light you up when you think
about it or when you hear aboutit.
So it might be that you need todo some exploration of, like,
what are fun events happening inmy area?
Or, um, yeah, talking to afriend and saying, like, what
(12:10):
you know, what are your most funsummer activities, and hearing
them.
Right, because generators, their strategy is to respond,
and so we need something torespond to.
So you need that stimulus of um, let's go play volleyball on
the beach.
Let's go for a summer hike, let's go explore a new area.
(12:31):
Let's go to this watershed orthis um little pond and go for a
tube ride.
Let's go hike a mountain thatwe've never hiked before.
Let's go try this new ice creamshop.
Right, when you hear something, one of those things, even the
(12:52):
things that I just listed, oneof them are gonna spark a little
bit more energy, a little bitmore interest than others, and
so your invitation is to followwhat lights you up.
Your additional invitation is tobegin playing around with
saying no to what doesn't lightyou up.
(13:13):
So if somebody asks you to godo an activity in the summer and
you feel in your body this, like weight or this heaviness,
or you feel that it's a no,whatever, that looks like to you
and this is something that Ireally work with a lot when I do
one-on-one client work and I'mhappy to have a conversation in
(13:34):
like an even an intro to humandesign call if you want to book
one of those to get your chartread, we can talk about like
learning what a yes and what ano feels like, what lights you
up and what drains your energyfeels like.
But begin, begin kind ofmarinating on that and playing
around with saying no to whatdoesn't light you up, because
(13:57):
generators, especiallymanifesting generators as well,
but generators especially weneed to our gift.
One of our superpowers in thisworld is to bring energy and
light and vibrancy to the worldand those around us.
(14:18):
And if we are not feeling that,it's not going to permeate
through the rest of societyeither.
And it's not even about theother people, it's about you and
you deserve to walk throughthis world completely lit up and
on fire all the time.
My manifestors manifestors aresuch a fun energy type to me
(14:41):
it's maybe it's because I'm acombination of manifestor and
generator, but our manifestors, your invitation this summer is
to play around with and exploreyour energy ebbs and flows.
Manifestors are very muchsprinters in the world, so they
(15:03):
might have so many fun ideas, somuch like.
Manifestors are truly here tobring new things into this world
.
And so this summer, playingaround with like what is this
new idea, this new activity, this new perspective that I can
bring into my world and with mypeople, with my community and my
(15:23):
tribe, whether that's just likean experience, whether that's a
new business idea, whether it'sa new relationship to try a new
food to cook like a new dish tocreate there's so much
potential here.
New food to cook, like a newdish to create, there's so much
potential here.
But really settling intobeginning to feel when you are
(15:45):
sprinting and when you'reresting Because the thing about
sprinters is they do shortdistance runs very, very quickly
and then they rest and thenthey pause.
So for my manifestors, reallyleaning into beginning to feel
again in your body, when am Ifeeling very lit up, when am I
(16:10):
feeling very inspired and thenwhen am I feeling like it's time
to take a break and yourinvitation it's time to take a
break.
And your invitation, your otherinvitation for this summer,
just like generators had to.
Your second like thing to beaware of or be aware of, is
(16:31):
informing the people in yourlife when you're in that rest
period, because it can feel like, oh, like life of the party,
she has so many great ideas, there's so much like creative
creativity and exploration, andthen she just like, or he just
drops off the face of the earth.
Um, make sure that you informyour people like hey, this is my
(16:55):
time to rest.
I might not be as in it or onit this weekend or this week.
I'm going to take some time formyself and kind of be a little
bit more introspective.
And that is when you arerebuilding, and that's really
actually when you're gettingyour ideas and your downloads is
(17:16):
in that rest cycle, and thenyou can go act on them whenever
you feel like I have come out ofthat rest cycle and it doesn't.
And like rest is such aninteresting term to me because
we all have these differentconnotations, so it doesn't mean
that you're just like laying onthe couch, sleeping for a week.
Um, it could be more, uh, timealone for you.
(17:39):
It could be taking like morewalks, doing a little bit more
grounding.
It could be like spending timewith that, like just one person
that really brings you energy.
Or it could be taking naps andjust like watching TV or doing
meditations, or maybe going onsome sort of like personal
retreat whether it's a scheduledretreat or not like just I
(18:00):
don't know going up to themountains for a weekend or a
week or, you know, going campingor something whatever feels
restorative for you.
Do that.
Don't just think rest as takingnaps all day, but if that feels
restorative, then do that.
Manny Jens, my Manny Jens, I ama Manny Jen manifesting
(18:21):
generator.
So we're this beautifulcombination.
I will say manifestinggenerators are probably the most
quick moving in all of theenergy types and that could be
like a really great example.
Is is typically like, if I getan idea for something, I act on
it right away.
(18:42):
I don't really ponder it for along time.
Um, I do slow down and makesure that I have like all my
ducks in a row, because I knowmyself now and I know my energy
type.
But like, for example, I had anidea to record this podcast
last night at 5pm and now it's8am in the morning and I'm
(19:03):
recording this podcast like Ihad to do it before I even went
to work.
I'm like, no, we have thedownloads, we got to do this.
So that's mani gen energy.
They tend to like to spin a lotof plates in the air and summer
is just this like whole otherlane could be this whole other
lane of let's just do all thethings.
(19:26):
I don't want to say no, I'msuper excited to do, you know,
to try all the things, toexperience all the things.
I'm a 1-3 human design profile,so like learning by trial and
error and experimentation andresearch are all up my alley.
And really learning here's theinvitation really learning to
(19:48):
navigate, just like generators, how to say no to what doesn't
light us up.
We do have that generator, energy of, like the physical
generator, and that potential tobring energy and light and
levity and flow to the world andthose around us, as well as
ourselves, when we're doing whatlights us up.
(20:12):
So if we're not doing whatlights us up, life feels much
more forceful and we feel moretired and overwhelmed and burnt
out.
So, navigating what lights meup, slowing down enough to ask
myself and discover where, likeenergy building in my body feels
(20:36):
like what being lit up feelslike, and then what my no feels
like.
For me it's very much this, like push back, it's this.
Sometimes it's like a tensionor like a constriction in my
belly.
To me it's like typically verybodily no, but I mean, if you
(20:59):
have a defined spleen center andyour center for intuition, like
it could just be, this feelingof this is just not right for me
.
And trusting, just like themanifestor, just like everyone,
honestly, we all need rest, weall need breaks and trusting
when I say no to something andit leads to maybe not having
(21:19):
plans that evening.
This is my time to reboot.
This is my time to regenerate,so then I can say yes to the
things that I really want to sayyes to.
All right, two more and thenwe're going to get in a little
bit into cycles and then ourbreathwork tips.
It's so funny.
I always feel like I talk solong in these podcasts because
(21:41):
I'm not used to speakingcompletely by myself.
I have so many guests on mypodcast, so I'm looking and I'm
pretty sure it's only been 20minutes, but it feels like I've
been talking for an hour.
So let's talk.
Projectors and then reflectors.
Projectors you are the greatguides of the world.
And in summertime especiallybecause summer energy just
(22:07):
cyclically brings like higherenergy, more output, feeling a
little bit more outgoing, wanting to be outside, I mean,
the weather is nicer, hopefully, where you are.
So there's a lot of thisextroversion and it and it's not
that projectors are introvertedat all.
(22:29):
That's not what I'm saying.
What I'm saying is thatprojectors do very well with
taking breaks because, as aprojector, you should look at
your human design chart.
You'll see all these shapes.
Projectors, most of them, haveless defined centers than
generators and manifestinggenerators.
(22:50):
So really I mean we're kind oflooking twofold of like how many
defined centers do you have?
How many undefined centers doyou have?
How many colored in centers isdefined?
How many white or not coloredin centers is undefined?
So like I'm thinking of my mom.
She's a projector.
She has two defined centers.
I have, I think, five definedcenters or four.
(23:11):
No, I think I have five.
So why projectors do really welltaking breaks is because it's
getting out of other people'senergies fields.
Those undefined centers tend toabsorb other people's energy a
lot more easily than the definedcenters do.
So when we get out of people'senergy fields like literally
(23:34):
retreat, take time for ourselveswhether that's 20 minutes or an
entire day or an entire weekend, that is up to you to discover.
But what you're doing is takingthat time to like, clear your
energy so then you can come backto your family, your people,
(23:55):
your summer plans with a clarityand with this again, with this
alignment, and feeling more atease and less burned out.
So my projector is, yourinvitation is to really explore
how much regeneration time do Ineed, like, how much recoup time
(24:17):
do I need?
Is it one like, one for one?
Like is it like one busy dayand then one calm day?
Is it two for one, is it onefor two?
Um, there's no right answer perse like that I could tell you,
because it's really exploringfor yourself.
(24:37):
Exploring rest in the summer, that might be like a huge thing
for you, depending on where youare in your life.
But exploring what does restfeel like for me, what is
restorative for me?
Kind of like the manifestorinvitation like is it going out
(25:01):
on a retreat?
Is it going out in themountains, is it going to the
beach or maybe sitting at home?
Most projectors do pretty welllaying down, so maybe it's just
taking like a 20 minute lay downnap or a 20 minute yoga nidra
meditation during the middle ofthe day to kind of clear out
that energy and then come backfor the rest of the day.
(25:27):
Projectors, your second thing tobe aware of is leaning into
feeling your invitations.
Because, projectors, yourstrategy, how you kind of get
into alignment and how you makethings happen, is through
(25:48):
invitations.
Wait for the invitation.
So it doesn't have to be averbal invitation of hey, do you
want to go to the beach with me?
It could be like hey, what areyou doing today?
Or oh, I really want to go tothe beach.
Or, um, hey, do you want to goto the beach with me?
It could be like, hey, what areyou doing today?
Or oh, I really want to go tothe beach.
Or hey, what do you think aboutthis?
Instead of going and reallygenerating a lot of the plans
(26:08):
and generating a lot of theactivities for the summer, maybe
playing around with waiting tobe invited, waiting for some
sort of invitation, and then youget to decide if you want to
accept that invitation or not.
It's not waiting for theinvitation and then just saying
(26:29):
yes to everything.
Again, you'll see this themethroughout all of it is
navigating what a yes feels likein your body and what a no
feels like in your body.
What being lit up, even ifyou're a projector, what that
yes, what that like feeling inalignment is, or being lit up
feels like.
And then what feeling like yourenergy drained feels like,
(26:50):
which we all probably know whatour energy being drained feels
like.
And then reflectors Reflectorsare 1% of our population.
Reflectors, very similar toprojectors, but reflectors.
Your strategy is like waitingin a lunar cycle, so reflectors,
(27:12):
even more than projectors.
Floating into where does myenergy want to flow today and
this summer?
What is bringing me surpriseand delight?
Your um, your word, like yourkeyword is um, surprise.
(27:36):
So what?
What brings me that likegiddiness, that feeling of
surprise, and that's yourinvitation to explore within
yourself and then explore like, actually explore it.
So you know, maybe my sister isa, is a reflector, and one of
the things that we've talkedabout in that like word of
(27:57):
surprise is one way that shefeels that is kind of like going
somewhere without any plans, solike let's go explore this town
and let's just see where thewind takes us kind of situation,
um, and let's just see where Ifeel surprised.
So that's a really funinvitation for you the to be
(28:19):
aware of.
Just like projectors, reflectorshave no defined energy centers.
So really being aware of howmuch energy you're absorbing
from others, and you can evenask yourself like is this energy
mine?
Is this excitement or thisdesire?
(28:40):
Is this mine or is it someoneelse's, and is this something
that I really want to do?
I really want to do, or is itmaybe someone else's?
Like excitement and do Iactually kind of want to do
something else that would bringme more feelings of alignment
and or rest or regeneration thanothers.
(29:00):
So those are our five energytypes.
Play around with it.
Go back and listen just to yourenergy type in a week and see
what sticks out to you a weekfrom now, and play around with
that a little bit more andreally just see what comes up.
It can be very fun.
(29:21):
It doesn't have to be stressful, and let me also leave this
human design conversation with.
We don't need to push harder,we don't need to push ourselves
(29:42):
and experience all the things,or so life gets to be easy.
Life gets to be easy, and we'retold this lie that the harder
that we work, the more that wedo, the more successful that
we'll be, the happier that we'regoing to be in my 30 years of
(30:14):
life is.
It's actually the less that Ido.
It's the more mindfulness thatI incorporate into my life.
It's these small changes that Imake.
Outwardly, my summer might notlook that different this year to
other summers that I'veexperienced, but inwardly, the
more that I check in with myself, the more that I say no to the
(30:34):
things that are not lighting meup, the more that I slow down
and really check in with is thissomething that I want to do?
Is this something that's inalignment with me?
The more connected I feel tomyself, the more flow I feel and
(30:56):
life gets to be easy.
So let's add one little extracherry on top of this
conversation for females.
Whether you are someone thatactually menstruates or not we
are.
If you are female, then you gothrough the same four cycles a
(31:19):
month.
It just might not be actuallybleeding.
So whether you're like on birthcontrol or you're in, you're
like post-menstruation, yourmenopause, this still stands
Learning your four cycles, and Iwill try to link another video
below in that really dives intothe four cycles, but I will also
(31:44):
take this time to shamelesslyplug.
If you're interested in learningthe four cycles, my group
coaching program, sync, is allabout laying the foundation of
how to live in alignment withour cycle, and we go through
four cycles a month as women.
Just like the moon goes throughfour main phases in the month,
(32:08):
just like we go through fourseasons.
So I talked a little bit aboutthe summer season energy.
We have these energy changeswithin our body every roughly a
week because we have, you know, four, four weeks in a month.
So, um, which that's roughly.
But learning your menstrualcycle, so learning what is the
(32:32):
energy that I feel in thefollicular phase versus the
ovulation phase, versus theluteal phase, versus my actual
bleed.
I'm going to give a few tipsfor each but, again, this is
something that you can explore.
You can listen to some of mypodcasts about that.
I've already talked about wecan have conversations in DMs,
(32:54):
on Instagram or again, if you'reinterested in really diving
deep and committing to thislifestyle shift that's going to
lead to more energy, feelingmore connected, feeling like you
are able to be sustainable, have sustainable energy.
(33:16):
That's a superpower.
That's a superpower all initself.
So let's start with ourfollicular phase, which is like
our inner spring.
So if you kind of think of theenergy of spring, that's where
we are in our follicular phase.
Our follicular phase is rightafter we finish our period,
right after we finish bleeding.
The follicular phase is reallythis build of energy.
(33:37):
So what my invitation is is toexplore your dips and waves of
energy throughout the summerbecause, just generally, we're
in the summer phase of highenergy, feeling more extroverted
, feeling more productive andhaving just more like physical
(33:59):
energy, even maybe, depending onhow aligned we are in the other
phases.
Um, but then your, our, ourenergy as women is going to
shift a little bit throughoutthe weeks.
So our follicular phase is thislike slow build of energy.
It's kind of like you're comingout of hibernation or an animal
(34:20):
.
You know, if you think of whenan animal comes out of
hibernation, it's not just goingto go like run an entire
marathon on the first day afterit's spent the whole winter
sleeping, marathon on the firstday after it's spent the whole
winter sleeping.
So what do I want to do to makesure that I'm kind of like
slowing myself down a little bit, pacing, pacing myself For me
(34:43):
if I do a really good job takingcare of myself in my menstrual
phase, like in the bleed, I tendto be able to have pretty
consistent energy in thefollicular phase.
If I push through my menstrualphase, like in the bleed, I tend
to be able to have prettyconsistent energy in the
follicular phase.
If I push through my menstrualphase, I don't take time for
myself, I don't rest, I don'ttake time to recharge my
follicular phase.
I feel like I'm kind ofdragging.
So that's a really goodillustration of really settling
(35:07):
into each of the phases.
So think of pacing yourself inthe spring in your follicular
phase.
Then we're going to get to ourovulation phase.
So our ovulation phase in thesummer, actual summer season, I
mean it should feel good ifyou've taken care of yourself.
The other phases.
But if this is a new conceptfor you, maybe you don't feel
(35:29):
like you have all this highenergy or maybe you don't feel
quite as extroverted or outgoing.
How can you support yourself inthat?
The summer phase is the timenight concerts, to schedule that
(35:54):
dinner and comedy show, toschedule maybe a little bit more
time hanging out with friendsor family members, maybe
schedule the cookout.
Then, if you're able toschedule it around your
ovulation phase, you're going tofeel a lot more.
You know, like when youschedule something and then you
get to it and you're like, fuck,I don't want to go, like,
hopefully that's not going to behappening in your ovulation
(36:15):
phase.
I know for me, if I have a dateor if I have like an event, even
with one of my friends orsomething while I'm ovulating,
I'm like, fuck yeah, let's getdressed to the nines, let's go
eat some great food, let's, youknow, go listen to music and
dance.
But then if I'm like in mymenstrual phase, when I have
(36:35):
plans like that, I'm like, areyou sure we're not going to
cancel?
Like sitting by my phone allday waiting for them to cancel
because I don't really want togo.
That's an example.
So ovulation phase, then we getto our luteal phase, which is
this slow come down of energy.
Our luteal phase is like fall.
(36:56):
So we're kind of beginning tomake the early preparations of
hibernation, really, of slowingdown, of maybe stepping away,
stepping back.
So, beginning luteal phase, maybe you still feel like you
have great energy, you can stilllike plan the things, but end
luteal phase.
For me, my biggest dip of energyactually is like two or three
(37:21):
days before I get my period.
It's not actually on my periodfor me, other people, it's like
their actual bleed is verydraining for them and before
they're fine.
So again, explore, play aroundwith this for yourself and kind
of define what it is for you.
But the three or four daysbefore my period, ideally not
(37:43):
scheduling much.
Maybe I'm having my friend overand we're cooking dinner at
home, or maybe we're orderingtakeout and we're just watching
a movie instead of going out todinner and going out on the town
.
Maybe it's taking a really niceslow hike or getting back in
nature.
Maybe it is taking some timefor myself and not even hanging
(38:05):
out with other people, especially if you're still
working like your full nine tofive which you probably are,
unless you're a teacher or aparent really making sure to
plan a couple extra restorativethings for you.
Relaxation maybe it's schedulinga massage.
(38:26):
Maybe it's taking a nice bathor taking some time to journal
and read a book, right, likewhat is really bringing you more
energy.
It also might be a really goodtime to put more focus on how am
I nourishing my body, becauseyour body is really getting
(38:48):
ready for this huge shed and soI know for me in summer, like I
eat more takeout and I go out toeat more often, which is all
fine and well, but maybe it'sreally taking that time to
double check and check in with, like, how am I nourishing my
body right now?
How am I feeding my body andfueling my body?
(39:10):
And do I want those warmer, more cooked foods?
Do I want, like, a bone brothor what do I want?
What do I need?
And then we get to the menstrualphase, which is our actual
bleed.
If you are someone that doesbleed.
If you're not, you still gothrough this phase once again.
So our menstrual phase is thatinner winter.
(39:33):
It really is that time to stepback.
I always use my menstrual phaseas this really beautiful time
to check in with, like how I'mfeeling alignment wise.
Am I feeling aligned in mybusiness?
Am I feeling aligned in myrelationships?
Am I feeling aligned, like, with the choices that I've made?
It's this really good time toreflect?
(39:54):
And and then kind of like reset, of like, what shifts do I want
to make this coming month ornext cycle?
That's going to be moresupportive for me.
So, again, kind of like the lateluteal phase, checking in with
how am I nourishing my body?
How am I nourishing my mind, body and soul.
Maybe it's you know saying no.
(40:17):
Maybe that this is the timewhere you're checking in with
like what's a no for me?
Maybe it's just an energy wise, like I'm on my period, I really
don't feel like, whether youtell them that or not, I really
don't feel like going out.
So I'm going to say no and I'mgoing to stay in and watch a
movie or I'm going to go for awalk by myself.
So, really checking in with howam I feeling in my body?
(40:43):
A lot of my work and it's a lotof my work that I teach other
people and I work with clients,but it's because it's been a lot
of my personal work is how canI be more embodied?
How can I be more in my body?
How can I learn thecommunication of my body even
better?
Because our bodies are alwaysspeaking to us, they just don't
(41:06):
speak in words.
Our body doesn't know how tocommunicate in words.
Our mind communicates in words, our brain communicates in words
, but how can I learn thecommunication of the sensations,
of the energy shifts in my body, of what a yes and a no feels
like in my body?
How can I learn that?
(41:27):
And that is really truly whereyour power lies in everything.
So I just had a podcast that Imean at this time, that I'm
recording.
I just recorded a podcast witha guest, um, who is like a
holistic health coach and she.
We talked a lot about learninghow our bodies feel, like
(41:52):
learning that communication ofour body, because our bodies are
so wise, they're ancient.
Our mind, all of thisinformation that we're overflow
over, over powered by, that'sreally new.
But our bodies truly have theanswer.
And giving yourself thatpermission to listen and learn
(42:16):
the communication, learn whatyour body is trying to tell you,
because it has all the answersit truly does.
So let's close with two, twobreathwork exercises.
This, this is how we can like,oh, shake it off.
You know like I just had areally busy day, or I feel like
(42:37):
really hot right now, um,because summer is warmer
temperatures.
Um, this is really this, aninvitation to settle into coming
back to our body, settle intochecking in with how am I
(43:01):
actually doing today?
How are you really?
I used to do that on Fridays.
I used to post on my socialmedia.
I probably will now that we'rebringing it up.
But how are you really doing?
And checking in with yourselfhow you're really doing.
So first, breathwork practice iscalled the Satali breath.
(43:23):
I posted this on my Instagram.
If you want to go look at it,I'll repost it.
The Satali breath is a nicecooling breath.
So when we feel all of thislike Agni, I think, is how you
pronounce it Agni, I don't knowhow to pronounce A-G-N-I, I
believe it's this like innerfire, and summer is fire energy.
(43:47):
So how can I cool that summerenergy?
How can I?
How can I slow down?
I've been talking all aboutslowing down this whole podcast
episode.
But what if I get to sittingdown and like my body and my
mind won't stop running and I,like my nervous system, you know
, is just kind of stuck in thatoverdrive?
How do we get our nervoussystem regulated?
(44:10):
Breathwork is one tool.
There's so many tools.
Breathwork is one of the mostpowerful tools I found.
So the first breathwork exerciseyou're going to make your
tongue into like a hot dog style, so you're going to roll your
tongue.
The sides of your right and theleft side of your tongue are
going to roll up, so it lookslike a hot dog.
(44:31):
If you're watching this video, you can always scroll over to
YouTube and watch the end partof this video so you get the
visual demonstrations.
But if you're watching, it'sgoing to look like this, and
then all you're going to do isyou're going to roll your tongue
hot dog style and breathe inthrough your mouth, breathe in
through that tongue and outthrough your nose.
(44:51):
So it's going to look somethinglike or sound if you're
listening something like keepdoing that as I'm talking.
(45:13):
Okay, do it like two or threemore times.
What you might notice is thatthat breath coming in through
your tongue in the hot dog stylefeels super cool.
Whether you're outside doingthis, whether you're driving,
whether you're sitting at homepracticing this, it feels cool.
And so what I want you toimagine, to take it one step
(45:35):
deeper.
As you're taking the inhale, imagine that cool air not just
stopping at your tongue, goingall the way down down your
trachea into your lungs andallowing that cool air to
permeate all the way down yourabdomen, your legs, your thighs,
your ankles, all the way downto your feet, and then, when
(45:59):
you're breathing out out throughthe nose, it's breathing out
all of that stuck, warm, staleair out through your nose and
then you're going to take inanother nice cooling breath all
the way down to your toes, filling the belly completely up,
(46:21):
deep, deep breath and thenbreathing out through your nose
and notice, even right now, likestop breathing, allow your body
to come into this neutralposition and just notice how you
feel.
I always notice differentsensations on my tongue.
I always feel different in mybelly because I practiced a deep
(46:44):
belly breath.
Maybe practicing this 10, 15,15, 20 breaths, maybe you feel a
little bit calmer, you feel alittle bit more grounded.
If you're breathing all the waydown into your feet, see if you
can perceive the bottoms ofyour feet and feel the entirety
(47:05):
of your foot, your toes, the topof your foot, the ankle, the
heel, the instep.
Just notice what you notice andpractice that whenever you feel
, even if you're driving andyou're like on a long road trip,
right, practice a little of thesatali breath.
(47:26):
So that is your breathworkpractice today.
I will be sharing morebreathwork practices throughout
the summer on my Instagram, soif you don't already follow me,
make sure that you follow me.
It's at underscore.
Journey to well, somaticexercises to get us back into
(47:49):
the body, a really great kind ofconnecting circling back to our
human design and the cycleportion of the podcast.
Another really great practiceis to do a little breath work in
the beginning of your likecheck-in session with yourself.
Do some breath work, groundyourself, and then maybe ask
(48:13):
yourself do I want to go to thebeach today?
Do I want to do these plans, you know, with this person later
, later in the evening, beginning to play around with
what is bringing you energy, what's not bringing you energy,
when you're coming from thatgrounded place and you're coming
(48:33):
from that more centered placerather than just like, oh, do I
want to do this while you're inlike chaotic nervous system
overdrive.
Regulate your nervous systemdown, regulate it ground.
Maybe even get outside, putyour bare feet on the earth.
There's an idea and then askyourself these, these questions
of what lights me up, what'sbringing me energy, what do I
(48:57):
need to say no to?
What do I want my summer tolook like?
How cool would it be to gothrough summer and come to the
end and say it was pretty muchexactly what I wanted.
It was pretty much exactly whatI wanted it to look like.
I felt really connected, I feltreally aligned.
(49:20):
I really loved this summer.
That's what I want for you andthat's what you'll get.
Keep coming back to thisepisode.
I will talk to you soon, myfriend, make sure we stay
connected on Instagram.
Reach out and say hello, I'llsee you soon.
Be well.
