Speaker 2 (00:27):
Hello everyone and welcome back to this new episode
of the podcast Joy in thisJourney by Faithline.
Today we'll touch on the topicof how we are like clay in the

(00:51):
hands of the potter.
We will be reading in Jeremiah18, verses 4 to 6.
Then the word of the Lord cameto me saying O house of Israel,
cannot I not do with you as thispotter says?
The Lord, look, as the clay isin the potter's hands, so are

(01:15):
you in my hand, o house ofIsrael.
The process in which clay growsfrom being just clay to a useful
vessel is time consuming andvery extensive.
Through this process there area lot of instances where the
clay can be damaged.
In this passage in the book ofJeremiah we see the relationship

(01:40):
between the potter and the clay, between the potter and the
clay.
God sent Jeremiah to experienceand witness how the clay
damages in the hands of thepotter.
We are also like this clay Manytimes during the process.
We are formed as useful vessels.
We can break.
But one of the most importantthings about this passage and

(02:05):
the message behind these versesis not the fact that the clay
broke, but that, although itbroke, the potter was able to
make it a better piece.
Just like the clay broke in thepotter's hands, and he made it
a better vessel, we also can getdamaged or spoiled, and God,

(02:25):
our potter, can make us againinto a better vessel.
The question will be how can hemake us again?
One way is through correctionand discipline, a topic that we
don't usually want to hear ortalk about, but one that God
constantly reminds us of.
For the potter to make a bettervessel out of the clay, he had

(02:49):
to put it back in the potter'swheel, a procedure that requires
putting a lot of pressure onthe clay.
This is exactly what God doeswhen he corrects us.
He makes us again, and eventhough it hurts and sometimes we
don't like it, we need it inorder to be made better vessels.

(03:18):
Hebrews 12, 6-7 says If youendure chastening, god deals
with you as with sons.
For what son is there whom afather does not chasten?
Just like this verse says if weare children of God,
corrections and discipline arenecessary.
None of us are perfect and wenever come to Christ knowing how

(03:45):
to please the Lord, but it'sthrough the walk with Him and
through the lessons andcorrections he gives our lives
that we learn what he likes andwhat pleases Him.
This is a process ofsanctification.
So finish.
The book of Isaiah, chapter 64,verse 8, says that there is a

(04:06):
connection between thecorrections that we are given as
children of God and us beingclay, it says, and all we are
the work of your hand.
Let us rejoice in the fact that, although the clay can break,

(04:31):
our loving pattern, can give usa better shape, and let us see
God's corrections as a way ofhim giving us a better shape to
become better vessels.
May you be blessed.
This is your sister in Christ, lauren.
Until the next episode, amen.
