Speaker 2 (00:24):
God bless you all and
welcome back to another episode
.
Today we'll be focusing onwisdom and how it goes over
vanity.
Let's open our Bibles toEcclesiastes 11, verse 9 and 10.
And we read his word in thename of the Father, the Son and
the Holy Spirit Amen.
Rejoice, o young man, in thyyouth and let thy heart cheer
(00:46):
thee in the days of thy youthand walk in the ways of thine
heart and in the sight of thineeyes.
But know thou that all thesethings, god will bring thee into
judgment.
Therefore, remove sorrow fromthy heart and put away evil from
thy flesh, for childhood andyouth are vanity.
(01:07):
After reading this portion ofthe word, we can learn from the
author solomon that during ourchildhood and youth years, we
often desire and follow what wesee and we see in others, and
they're mostly vanity and theyseem great in our eyes, but
before God it's not what hewants us to seek or desire.
(01:28):
Um.
And from the word of God we'velearned that our flesh is evil
and brings us to death, and ourheart is deceitful and wicked.
And this is why you findSolomon bringing this up to our
attention, and someone who setsa great example of desiring and
(01:50):
following after his flesh andhis heart sorrow is Asaph in the
book of Psalms, chapter 73.
There we find Asaph, who wasenvious of the foolish when he
saw their prosperity and hedesired to be like them.
He desired to walk after them.
And he says that his feet wasalmost gone and his steps will
(02:14):
have not slipped, meaning thathe almost ended up just like
them.
But it was not until he enteredthe sanctuary of God that he
was able to receiveunderstanding that what his
heart and his flesh was desiringwas his sorrow his own sorrow
and the evil of his flesh, meaning that they were not
(02:36):
really what God wanted.
And he was able to learn in thesanctuary of God that his heart
fails and his flesh fails, butGod is the strength of his heart
and his portion forever, meaning that, yes, his desire
(02:56):
was to be and to walk as thewicked and to live.
Live.
But at the end of the day, whatreally matters is having and
being able to have a portion ofGod's wisdom.
God's wisdom goes above vanitybecause it has more value and it
(03:17):
would help us to make it toheaven.
So Asaph was able to remove hissorrow and evil by gaining
wisdom.
And how do we gain this wisdomthat Asaph was able to gain.
We go to the book of James, chapter 1, verse 5.
It says If any of you lackwisdom, let him ask of God that
(03:38):
give it to all men liberally andupbraid if not, and it shall be
given to him.
Now wisdom is god-centereddiscernment, meaning that it's
his guidance, is his desires, and upgrade, if not, means like
he does, he doesn't rebuke ingiving to men.
(04:01):
So even if we failed godwithout having his wisdom, if we
ask him and come with a sincereheart, he will freely give to
us and it shall be given to us.
So we have to desire it and wehave to want it from him.
Open to it, because it also saysin james 1, verse 21, to lay
(04:23):
apart all filthiness and allsuper filial naughtiness and
receive with meekness theencrafted word which is able to
save your souls.
So we can see from where itsays filthiness and super filial
naughtiness that this is thesorrow of our heart and the evil
(04:44):
of our flesh.
So we lay that apart, we putthat aside and we open our
hearts with meekness.
We make this meaning willing toaccept without resistance.
And also so if we open ourheart to accept without
resistance and in craft, a wordcrafted a word meaning
(05:05):
incorporate, to incorporatesomething in a permanent way.
So we open our hearts, we don'tresist God and we ask him to
incorporate permanently hiswisdom.
They would be able to save oursouls from destruction.
And this is the way we can makeit to heaven and not lose our
salvation, and to remainsteadfast in the path that will
(05:29):
lead us to eternal life.
Because if we follow after ourown desires, you know our heart
is evil and our flesh is evil wewill be led to the way of
destruction.
But through god's wisdom andguidance we will be led to an
everlasting life, and a life inabundance and in glory, in his
(05:49):
glory.
And we can't follow our ownsight.
We need to have the sight ofGod through his wisdom.
And so let's ask God every dayto give us his wisdom that we
can be able to set apart ourvanity from our hearts, from our
lives desires, and to fill usup, fill our hearts up, fill our
(06:12):
life up with his wisdom, whichcan help us to be saved and to
be ready for his coming.
May he receive all the gloryand honor, and I hope this word
has blessed you and has blessedyou the same way it has blessed
me, and it's your sister, esther.
God bless you all.
