Speaker 2 (00:32):
God bless you all and
welcome to another podcast from
Join this Journey Podcast byFaithline.
Find joy in your journey today, there for us to push us forward
and everything that we set outto do for him.
It hasn't been easy, but we arehere, amen, in the faith to
press on, and I just want tounite with you in this moment to
(01:00):
open our Bibles to the book ofHebrew and just going over these
verses, these verses, god gavesome words to one of our youth,
ochaira, that is doing theSpanish podcast this week.
She actually recorded it sometime ago and a lot had risen
after that and it took us, itset us back a bit, but we are
(01:24):
here and I just went over it andthe words that God placed in
her heart.
It touched me deeply and so Iwent before the Lord and I asked
him to give me words for ourEnglish podcast.
And so here I am and Iencourage you to open your
Bibles and I pray that itministers to your heart, as God
did minister to me, that we mustpress on, no matter what arises
(01:49):
in our lives.
Amen, that we are to continuethis race, no matter how hard it
gets, because we are not alone.
Jesus Christ is with us andthrough His Holy Spirit, he is
there every day to strengthen usand give us the victory.
So unite with me and open ourBibles to Hebrews, the book of
(02:09):
Hebrews, chapter 12.
And we're going to be readingverse one and two, and we read
the word of the Lord in name ofthe Father, son and Holy Spirit,
amen.
Therefore, since we aresurrounded by so great a cloud
of witness, let us also layaside every weight and sin which
(02:32):
clings so closely and let usrun, with endurance, the race
that is set before us, lookingto Jesus, the founder and
perfecter of our faith, who, forthe joy that was set before him
, endured the cross.
Life is not easy, but here theauthor of the book of Hebrews
(03:01):
says it is a race of the book ofHebrews says it is a race, not
a relay, not a simple walkthrough the park, but a long
distance race that calls forendurance and focus on the part
of every participant.
And just as a racer stripsthemselves of any excessive
(03:21):
clothing, so too the believer iscalled.
So the first thing that we seehere it tells us to, and it
(03:51):
calls us to, lay aside not onlyevery sin but also every weight,
and I know that there's asignificance in this, in this
explanation, because the wordleads us to see that not every
weight is necessarily a sin.
For example, there might behabits in our lives that it
(04:16):
distracts us, and it's notnecessarily a sin, but it can
bring us to a point that we thenopen the door to sin.
And so these weights in ourlives can be like social media,
entertainment or goals that weourselves set before ourselves,
our own lives, and, like I saidbefore, it's not a sin, but it
(04:36):
can hinder us from pursuingChrist and a full, healthy,
enduring stride.
And I don't know what thosethings are in your life, but
what I do know Is that it sayshere in Hebrews, chapter 3,
verses 12 and 14.
It says see to it, brothers andsisters, that none of you has
(05:01):
sinful, unbelieving hearts thatturn away from the living God,
but be encouraged.
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today,
so that none of you may behardened by sin's deceitfulness.
We have to come to share inChrist, if indeed we hold our
(05:25):
original conviction firmly tothe very end.
So the author of Hebrew causesus to watch our lives and hearts
closely, because the enemy isthere to distract us in any way
possible, then there's anopportunity for him to make a
(05:46):
sin.
So we have to watch ourselves, watch our lives, our hearts,
closely that anything that mightkeep us from finishing the race
.
We must ask the Holy Spirit tohelp us see those things so that
way we can close every door.
We can close every door and so,as a runner is given the best
(06:09):
of motives to throw off theseweights and these clingy things
that can weigh him down.
Here God is motivating us tothrow off all these weights from
our lives that clings to us andcould lead us into sin.
And so we note here in inhebrews, chapter 12, verse 1,
(06:29):
that there's a word that saysalso so this implies that
present day he's talking to thepresent day saints to follow
this example, to follow thewitnesses of cloud, the cloud of
witnesses, to follow thewitnesses of cloud, the cloud of
witnesses that they have leftus an example to push off all
(06:50):
sin and to push off all weightsthat might hinder us in our walk
with Christ.
So I like this and it's veryimpacting because he gives us a
list, like, if you needmotivation I don't know about
you, but in this walk, we allneed motivation.
We all need to know that we aregoing to make it.
(07:12):
The enemy paints it as wherewe're not going to make it and
that you're wasting your timeand that you know, do what you
want to do and there's just somuch time that you can waste and
we don't have time to waste.
And so a lot of us, in our walkwith Christ, need motivation,
and thank God for his HolySpirit that is there and his
(07:34):
word that is there and he showsus motivations.
You want motivation.
You're asking God, god, I need,I need motivation and we look
for people and sometimes wedon't have it.
But the holy spirit is there 247, and it's awesome because you
don't need to call anybody else.
You know at two or three in themorning that the enemy just
(07:55):
attacks you, he attacks yourmind, he attacks your heart and
we're like where can I get thismotivation?
Right there, the holy spirit isthere, just call upon him.
And his word says call upon meand I am near, he will answer
you.
He is, he's real, he is a godthat answers here.
He's a god that responds.
And so right now, god knowswhat you're going through.
He knew what I was goingthrough and right away, you know
(08:20):
, in his time, he comes andresponds to us like what are you
doing?
Get up, keep walking.
You want motivation?
Go to my word, see themotivation there and we get the
answer.
And one person that we see inhebrews, chapter 11, verse 25
through 26, one person that heuses to motivate us is moses.
(08:40):
And it says read with me.
It says he man that really hitme because he chose this is
something that you got to choose.
Nobody can push you to do thisyou yourself, even though you're
(09:03):
feeling tired, even thoughyou're feeling no motivation at
all.
Moses chose to be mistreatedalong with the people of God,
rather to enjoy the fleetingpleasures of sin.
Verse 26 says and enjoy thefleeting pleasures of sin.
Verse 26 says he regardeddisgrace, for the sake of christ
, as a greater value check thatout, that word greater value
(09:32):
than the treasures of egypt, because he was looking ahead to
his reward.
And that itself should justimpact your life, because when
you're looking straight ahead toyour reward, nothing and no one
is gonna change your mind, yourheart and your decision.
He stood there and saw thevalue, the greater value than
(09:59):
the treasures of Egypt, and wegot to look at the greater value
.
The greater value is Christ.
What Christ did for you needsto be more important than any
temporary treasure or anytemporary sin, or any temporary
thing that the enemy is offering.
And the only way that you'regoing to see that is if you
(10:19):
maintain your focus to what isahead.
Get off everything that is onyour life right now, what's on
your mind, what's on your heart.
Get it off in jesus name.
Rebuke it in jesus name.
Any sin, any weight that'sweighing you down, take it off
in the name of jesus and focuson what is ahead, because what
(10:41):
is ahead is your reward.
And so we notice at the end ofthe passage that he was looking
to the reward.
Just as a runner prepares for arace because he wants to win the
prize, so too, moses did, andhe laid aside every weight and
every sin.
That's what you need to dotoday Lay aside every weight and
every sin.
That's what you need to dotoday.
(11:02):
Lay aside every weight andevery sin, because Moses desire
was to attain the reward, thereward that was set before him.
And that must be your goal, your goal before any desire,
anything else that you want.
Your goal, your goal, beforeany desire or anything else,
that you want.
Your goal, your number onething, should be my reward, as I
(11:28):
set this before me before I setany other goal, I'm setting
before me my reward and that isto make it to the kingdom of
heaven.
So be joyful today, enter intohis presence, know him, know him
as your God, know him as yourpeacemaker, know him as your
(11:52):
father.
He is there for us in anymoment or time.
There is an award for us, thereis a reward for us.
This should motivate us and theenemy is coming to discourage
us and take away our focus.
But today, in Jesus name, weget up because we see that there
(12:16):
was a cloud of witness thatendured everything to the very
end, because they were focusedon their reward.
So it should drive us everysingle day to continue to go
forward, not only in the OldTestament, but in the New
Testament.
It is brought into the NewTestament in Hebrews to remind
(12:38):
us.
In Hebrews 12, 2,.
It says Let us now, now that weare here, you and me, present.
Moses is no longer here.
Now he made it.
He's there, but now us, let usnow, with endurance, the race
that is set before us.
(12:59):
Let us run with endurance therace that is set before us.
Let us run with endurance therace that is set before us,
looking to who Jesus, thefounder and perfecter of our
faith.
The reward that Moses sought outNow has a name, and his name is
Jesus To be like him, to livelike him and to conquer
(13:24):
everything and win like him.
He is our Lord, he is ourSavior, he is our God.
He should be our very passionto get to the very end.
He should be our passion ofevery heart that is listening to
this podcast today.
He should be your number onepassion, nobody else and nothing
(13:48):
else of this world.
And so, by the power of thisgreater passion, let it affect
us in a special way, in apositive way, to get up and
throw off every sin and everyweight that wants to distract us
(14:10):
, that wants to harm us and thatwants to detain us.
Let us push it off in Jesus'name, because he is our hope, he
is our savior, he is ourstrength and he is there as our
coach every step of the way, totell you and to tell me keep
(14:33):
going, keep going, keep going, because you're almost there.
Keep going, don't look back, keep going, don't sit down, keep
going, don't give up.
He is there every step of theway to give us the encouragement
not to give up.
He is our finish line.
So put your eyes on him, putyour mind on him, put your heart
(14:56):
on him, put your imagination onhim.
Let it be fixed.
Fixed on him today, in the nameof Jesus, because he did it all
for us.
He endured all heartache, heendured all suffering in our
place that we can be with him.
(15:19):
So let us get up with thestrength of the Holy Spirit and
endure mile after mile in ourrace to the finish line, so we
can be with our master forever.
May he help us grow in grace.
May he help us have betterhabits.
May he help us get rid of anyroutines, any fears, any desires
(15:41):
, any sins, anything that isdulling the light of christ in
our life.
May he help us get rid of it,anything that is slowing our
pace, our pursuit for him.
May he help us get rid of it.
In jesus name, may we havespirit endurance, may we press
(16:02):
on to know him and may we makehim our own.
And may he be perfected in usin such a way that we will never
be the same.
And I leave you with this versein Philippians, chapter 3, verse
12.
It says not that I have alreadyattained or am already perfect,
(16:28):
but I press on.
I might not be at the finishline, I might not be how you
thought I would be, but you knowwhat I'm still pressing on, I'm
still walking, I'm still goingforward.
Amen that I may lay hold ofthat which Christ Jesus has also
(16:48):
laid hold of me.
May I grab on to him as hegrabs on to me, and may I never
let him go.
And may Jesus never let me go,and may he complete every plan
and purpose.
To everyone that is listening tothis podcast, may God glorify
(17:12):
himself in your life and in mylife.
Get rid of everything.
You know what it is.
You know what's holding youback.
You know what's holding youback.
May you get ripped, push it offand press on to the reward of
eternal life in Christ Jesus, who won it all for us.
(17:35):
That through him we all can winthis race.
Amen.
Pray with me, oh Father God, wecome before you in Jesus' name
and we praise you, god, foreverything, for who you are and
for loving us, for your love andmercy and for speaking to our
(17:56):
lives.
God, thank you for your wordbecause in your word, we praise
you, jesus, for giving usexamples.
Giving us examples, giving usthe encouragement that we need
to press on.
Lord, we have you.
We have you, jesus.
We have everyone that stood upfor you, god, to show us that,
yes, it is possible and we cando it in your name.
(18:19):
Thank you, god, for your son,for leaving us his love, his
mercy on our lives every singleday.
Thank you, god, because we aresurrounded.
We are surrounded not only byyour word, but by the body of
Christ, of believers, lord, thathave made a decision for you
(18:39):
and refuse to step back.
Thank you, god, for those whoare an example.
Thank you, god for that greatcloud of witnesses, lord, that
great cloud of witnesses in theword.
God, thank you for those for inthis time and this day, god,
that are examples in our livesfor us not to give up.
(19:00):
God.
Help us, father.
God, help us, god.
We need you.
Help us to lay aside everything.
Lord, god, you know who'slistening.
Lord, in this name, in thismoment, in jesus name, I ask god
that you help them.
Lay aside every weight in jesusname, everything that's been
weighing them down, weighingdown their heart, their mind,
(19:22):
every sin that's been anobstacle, that is entangling us,
god, entangling every listener.
Lord, that you may free them inJesus name, help us, god, to
run with perseverance.
Lord, help us run this racebecause, god, you have marked us
for this time and the enemyknows that and that's why he has
(19:43):
risen like a flood.
But, God, it says, your spiritwill lift up a banner for us.
May you lift up a banner foreveryone that needs it right now
, to let them understand andremember the promises that you
have made, that you are not aGod that fails, that you are a
God that completes every promise.
I rebuke every lie of the enemy,I rebuke every stronghold, in
(20:05):
the name of Jesus, that ourlives can be free, that our
lives can be loose.
Lord, take away all the weight, god.
You see the weight that somecannot even walk, that some
cannot even pray, that somecannot even praise God, that
some can't even feel yourpresence.
But I ask, in the name of Jesus, that you take away all weight
(20:26):
now, god, every sin.
Break every chain in the nameof Jesus, that you may
strengthen our eyes, fix oureyes on you, god, and you alone,
for you are our God, the author.
You are the one that perfectsus and perfects our faith.
May you help us every singleday, god, and may you bless
everyone that has taken the timeout to listen to your word, and
(20:49):
may they feel the difference, the freedom, the liberation.
God, in the name of Jesus, wrapus, lord, with your Holy Spirit
and help us, lord, to press onand win this race.
In the name of Jesus, amen.
I pray that the word of theLord has been a blessing on your
life.
Continue to go forward.
(21:11):
Focus on Jesus, shake offeverything that is not of him.
Press on in the name of theLord, for we are almost at the
end.
Don't look back and you willsee.
Your reward is right there.
Amen.
Be strengthened in the Lord.
God bless you all and untilnext time.
