Speaker 2 (00:29):
Hello everyone and
welcome back to this new episode
of the podcast Joy in thisJourney by Faithline.
This is your sister in Christ, lauren, speaking to you once
again, and today we'll betouching on the topic of our
eternal God and his change increation.
We'll read different verses inthe Bible, but we'll begin with
(00:52):
a passage in the book ofEcclesiastes, chapter 3, verses
1 to 8.
We're reading the name of theFather, the Son and the Holy
Spirit.
Amen To everything.
There is a season, a time forevery purpose under heaven.
A time to be born and a time todie.
(01:13):
A time to plant and a time topluck what is planted.
A time to kill and a time toheal.
A time to break down and a timeto build up.
A time to weep and a time tolaugh.
A time to mourn and a time todance.
A time to cast away stones anda time to gather stones.
(01:37):
A time to embrace and a time torefrain from embracing.
A time to gain and a time tolose.
A time to keep and a time tothrow away.
A time to tear and a time tosaw.
A time to keep silence and atime to speak.
A time to love and a time tohate, a time of war and a time
(02:04):
of peace.
With what we are told in thischapter of the book of
Ecclesiastes, we can concludethat, in the end, all things are
destined to change.
Just like there is a time to beborn, there is also a time to
die, a time to build and a timeto destroy.
(02:25):
In other words, nothing isconstant or permanent under the
sun.
And the truth is that we livein a changing world.
Nature is always changing, society is always changing,
governments and people arealways changing, and although
everything changes so quickly,we live looking for something
(02:50):
constant that doesn't change.
We long for stability and weseek security in things that,
unfortunately, are destined tochange.
Why, why do we have thislonging for something permanent
and eternal in our lives?
Verse 11 of this same chapter inthe book of Ecclesiastes gives
(03:14):
us the answer.
He has made everythingbeautiful in its time.
Also, he has put eternity intheir hearts.
Except that no one can find outwhat work God does from the
beginning to end.
God has created us for eternity, and there's only one thing in
(03:36):
this life that remains the sameand doesn't change, and that is
God.
In other words, god has placeda longing for eternity in our
lives that only he can fulfill.
He has placed a need for Himselfin our hearts.
He is the only one in whichthere is no change or shadow or
(03:58):
variation, as it says in James, chapter 1, verse 17.
Every good gift and everyperfect gift is from above and
comes down from the Father oflights, with whom there is no
variation or shadow of turning.
And in Hebrews 13, 8, it saysJesus Christ is the same
(04:21):
yesterday, today and forever.
And even in the book of Isaiah, chapter 40, we can see the
supremacy of God and hiseverlasting nature, especially
in verse 28, which says have younot known, have you not heard
the everlasting God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the
(04:46):
earth, neither faints nor isweary.
His understanding isunsearchable, being God
everlasting, unchangeable,unmovable, eternal.
His creation is totally theopposite.
It changes and is destined toone day end.
(05:07):
So how can we fulfill andsatisfy the longing that he has
put in our hearts, the longingfor and need for himself?
One way is actually throughtrust in him, in him who does
not change and remains the sameforever.
Jeremiah 17, verses 7 to 8,says blessed is the man who
(05:33):
trusts in the Lord and whosehope is in the Lord, for he
shall be like this verse is thatwe just read in the year of
drought, nor will cease fromyielding fruits.
These verses that we just readreveal to us that trusting in
(06:07):
him is what will keep us firmand unchanging even in the midst
of the different seasons in ourlives.
Here we see how a person whotrusts in God is compared to a
tree that does not experiencethe effect of the changing
seasons.
It is not that the trials willnot come, but that in the midst
of all those trials, we canprevail if we trust in God.
(06:30):
Just like the tree because itwas planted in the streams of
water and was well rooted whenthe different seasons came, when
the time of heat came and theyear of the drought came, it
continued to bear fruits and itsleaves remain green we can also
(06:50):
be the same if we place ourtrust in him, who is eternal and
unchanging.
We will be able to bear fruitsin the midst of droughts and our
leaves will be able to remaingreen even in the middle of the
heat.
To finish, I would like to readthis verse in the book of
(07:14):
Colossians, 3-2-4, which saysSet your mind on things above,
not on things on the earth, foryou died and your life is hidden
with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will
(07:36):
appear with him in glory.
Thank you, lord, because weserve you, the eternal,
trustworthy and unchanging God.
Thank you for putting in us thelonging for eternity that only
you can satisfy in us, thatlonging for eternity that only
(07:58):
you can satisfy.
Help us put our eyes on you andon the things above.
May, as long as we choose totrust in you, may we be planted
like tree by the streams ofwaters, which take firm roots in
you, lord, and that, eventhough heat and drought comes,
may we remain with green leavesand may we bear fruits for your
(08:22):
glory and honor In Jesus' name.
Amen.
God bless you all Until nexttime.
