What does it truly mean to face your fear—and allow yourself to be fully free and seen? This week, I have the privilege of sitting down with the incredible Tanner Haney, a Los Angeles-based actor who, one morning, made a life-changing decision: to take on a 30-day challenge that would push him far beyond his comfort zone - dancing in public every single day, in front of strangers, and asking those strangers to record it.
So why this challenge? After coming out, Tanner shares how he wrestled with a fear of being authentically seen, carrying the weight of shame that told him to shrink and tone himself down. But as his birthday approached, he decided he was done with that destructive narrative. It was time to reclaim his joy, freedom, and boldness of living unapologetically as himself once again. Tanner is truly a gift to us all!
What began as a personal experiment in vulnerability is quickly evolving into a journey of liberation, connection, and radical self-acceptance. Each day, Tanner steps into public spaces - often terrified, yet exhilarated - but always determined to move through his fear, quite literally. In the process, he’s discovering just how much courage it takes to be witnessed in your truest form - and how profoundly healing it can be to stop hiding and to simply be yourself.
In this powerful episode, we dive into Tanner’s life growing up, his coming out journey, and the pivotal moments that led him here - including the times he almost quit, the strangers who surprised him most, the power of movement as emotional release, and what happens when you choose courage even when every part of you wants to "tone down." If you've ever let fear silence your true self, this episode is your invitation to step into the joy … and just dance.
