(00:00):
Hello everyone. I'm Carl. And I'm Em. And welcome to our podcast discussing all the
(00:19):
latest books. This is season two, episode 12, part one. And today we are discussing Onix
Storm by Rebecca Yaros. She's beautiful. As always, we will save our writings until
the very end. We promise to give you all of our honest opinions and all the characters,
(00:40):
chapters and scenarios. We don't mean any harm to Rebecca. It's solely our opinion. I'm
going to use some words in this episode. I also want to point out that this episode
has been divided into two parts. We kind of had to. So you weren't listening to 18 hours
of us talking. That is for sure. As always, we promise to Carl and like we read them.
(01:04):
Period. So some trigger warnings for this book. And as always, we try to include as
many as we can. We may leave some out. So it's always best to check for yourself if
you think there's any potential triggers with the way the story sounds. But there are references
to war, hand to hand combat, blood, intense violence, brutal injuries, gore, murder,
death, almost death, a psych on a death even. That's the one that got me, I think the most.
(01:29):
Animal death, injury, rehabilitation, amputation, grief, poisoning, burning, perilous situations,
graphic language and of course sexual activities on the page. It has a lot of grief and parental
stuff but sort of like that bad relationship with your mom, abandonment, that sort of aspects
in there too. Rejection. Yeah. So as always, take care of yourselves and spoilers will lie
(01:55):
ahead. If you don't want to hear how this book ends, please pause here and go read the
book. If you even think about reading the series, please go and read the first book
and the second book before you get into this. It will leave you confused if you do not read
the first two books. Absolutely. You will have no idea what's going on. You'll know
one thing and that's that Zaden Morrison is so fine. That might be all you know though.
(02:21):
But go back, read those books. I promise you it is definitely worth it so please do not
spoil yourself by listening to this episode before you read that series if you're even
thinking about doing it. Are you ready to get started? Let's get into it.
(02:44):
So here is the blurb for this book. It starts out with a quote from Violet that says, writers
don't run, we fight. After nearly 18 months at Bezgyath War College, Violet Sorengale
knows there's no more time for lessons, no more time for uncertainty because the battle
has truly begun and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their
(03:04):
ranks it's impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing
Eretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navar. The trip will test
every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves,
her dragons, her family, her home, and him. Even if it means keeping a secret so big it
could destroy everything. They need army, they need power, they need magic, and they
(03:28):
need to be able to do anything to save what they love.
The one thing only Violet can find, the truth, but a storm is coming and not everyone can
survive its wrath. I will say just to preface this, there are some deaths in this book,
but there's not any main character deaths, which I was actually very shocked by. That
(03:48):
I really thought somebody we all loved was going to croak. I was scared.
I was a little nervous too. I had watched Rebecca's interview on her press tour earlier
last week where she made the comment that somebody would not make it in the fourth book
and so I thought somebody would make it to the next book, which it kind of, I mean by
(04:11):
the end it's a possibility. We don't know, but definitely, I mean she starts off the
next book with that. That's going to be pretty intense. I don't know if I'm prepared for
that.
I don't start that way because that would really set a low point for the entire book.
But it is possible, but we don't know that as of right now at the end of this book.
(04:34):
Correct. I'm not going to say Rebecca, if you take away Riddick, I will hold a grudge.
I see where people are thinking that it's either like Sawyer, Riddick or Eric just
because they're talked about a lot more as side characters. But I actually, I think it's
(04:54):
probably going to be one that's not as much.
I thought Mira was going to die in this book. I was convinced and we know obviously she
almost did.
So originally I thought the prologue was important because Zaden was talking to Jack, which we
(05:18):
know by kind of the excerpt that Rebecca had previously released as well as the late chapters
that this was part of that. I thought it was important originally because Zaden was talking
to Jack. I will tell you later on why I don't think that is now important, but that'll be
towards the very, very end. Zaden goes to visit Jack. He talks about how his control
(05:40):
can go away pretty quickly. He talks about basically he should just take Violet to the
sage and get her drained quickly. Darna is also speaking to Violet through the bond and
she's talking about how she changed and how when she changed she could defeat the Venon,
which I am a little confused by that because later in the book when she changes to what
(06:03):
she thought she was, she couldn't kill Venon. So I don't know because she's no longer a
feather tail if that's the case or what. I don't quite know that, but...
There's a lot about Darna going, coming and her kind that was like, we like, she threw
(06:25):
in these scenes, but nothing was really explained.
And I don't know if that was kind of still leaving the mystery of the whole breed of
her because at this point I am getting a little annoyed that we're not finding out more about
Darna and what's going on. I do think because of the way this book kind of ended that we
will probably have more of an answer on her in the next book, but I feel like because
(06:52):
we ended this last book with that and with trying to find a cure for Zaden, we should
have gotten resolve on one of those two things.
I agree.
And I feel like we started to get resolve and then she just disappeared out of the book
and we don't find anything more for a bit.
I agree.
So starting off in chapter one, I do want to read the excerpt at the top of that chapter
(07:16):
because I do think that it kind of sets the tone, which Carly called it.
Just saying.
She changes and adds a personal addendum to the book of Brennan, which she marks out,
I will not die today and put I will save him.
That definitely sets the tone for Violet trying to save Zaden and trying to cure him
and all that kind of stuff.
(07:36):
My girl was really working overtime in this book.
She was doing a lot more than I think she has done in previous books.
I agree.
And finally came into her own powerful, grew a backbone.
Beautiful.
So we do get where they have now come back to best guy at the beginning of chapter one
(07:59):
and we end up finding out that the people that have stayed are kind of blocking them,
treating them as like they've abandoned their posts.
Serters, I think is what they refer to them as how ridiculous, but yet they're still using
them.
I mean, my thing that I have a problem with is they just saved your ass and then they're
turning around and going on patrols and you're asking them to be on these patrols to still
(08:23):
protect you.
And then you're going to sit there and treat them like that.
Did it rub me the wrong way because I mean, they did just save your ass and then you're
going to sit there and use them like that.
I don't know.
I had a big problem with it.
I agree.
A thousand percent.
I mean, where she or that girl is like going to challenge somebody or whatever.
Yeah.
I'm going to challenge Dane.
I couldn't even tell you her name because I don't remember it.
(08:45):
All I remember is she was going to challenge Dane, who does not have like an offensive
signet and she does.
And Violet was like, no, homie, you want to step up when Violet was like, oh, you want
to tussle.
Okay, big girl, let's tussle then.
Like you try to go after Dane who reads memories.
(09:05):
Why don't you come at me?
Well, his, his signet is classified.
So I don't know if people know at this point because it didn't say that anybody's ever
learned what his signet was.
True.
But I just mean we've not seen him use it in a fight.
So we know it's not offensive, but she literally like catch people on fire and she's going
to fight Dane.
And so Violet was like, okay, step up then.
(09:27):
You want to compare?
I felt like they had a tape measure out and we were comparing dick sizes.
That's what it felt like.
It did a lot.
And Violet won.
And I was like, it's about time.
She definitely stepped up quite tremendously.
Specifically at the beginning I was a little worried because we still go at the secretive
(09:49):
download kind of thing.
Cause like she started standing up to her friends.
Like it kind of reminded me of like Neville Longbottoms like ARC where, you know, he stands
up to Harry, Ron and Hermione whenever they're trying to leave.
Whenever she starts standing up to Bodie, Imogen and Garrix and she was just like over
my dead body, not happening.
And so to me that was a really big step up to the point where she started realizing
(10:11):
she's a little bit stronger.
I think that scene before she was like middle comfortable with it.
And obviously there was other scenes that then became like the bigger one, but.
I was going to say the scene then after that one is when she does the one mission with
the squad they chose.
And then she's like, no, sit down.
I'm telling you who's going from now on.
That was the next like big like, okay, listen to me.
(10:32):
I'm talking kind of thing, you know, quite a few of those speeches, which I mean, usually
like the quotes that I love are just the ones coming out of Zaden's bow.
And like there was several like speeches from Violet that I was very impressed with because
I was just like, okay, you're coming into your own.
I appreciate this a lot more than what you have been for sure.
No.
And I'm really glad I understood her journey and book one and book two and that she is
(10:55):
young and it's new and she's finding her way.
But if she had not come into her own this book, I would have been very disappointed.
Absolutely.
Above anything else in this book, I wanted to see Violet become confident.
My biggest problem with it up to this point is Taryn kept saying, I know who and what
you are.
I wouldn't have chose you as my writer if I didn't know you're capable of.
(11:15):
To me, it was just too much of that to not have this arc that has happened.
So I appreciate it.
And I think it made it better than the other books because she came into her own.
I think Zaden felt even more in love with her.
I agree.
Because it was so turned on by her being powerful, I guess.
So I think it made her relationship better.
(11:36):
I gotta be honest with you.
I actually think it would have been cuter if he had given her the nickname violence in
this book.
Yeah.
She almost earned the nickname.
Yeah.
Instead of just give it to her in book one when she really wasn't Violet.
It was the opposite, you know?
Well, I think that's what he did by giving her love in this book because at this point
he realizes she's earned his love and she realizes that she's worthy of it.
(12:00):
Now, I think Zaden was a little soft in this book.
It was cute.
I'm not complaining.
Dope just had a little less of that typical Zaden man stuff that we normally got.
But...
Well, and speaking of other people that kind of came into their own in this book.
So in the first couple chapters, we do get to see a little bit with Riddick.
(12:23):
And Sawyer has actually lost his leg from the battle, which is kind of implied at the
end of the last book.
So that was kind of to be expected.
But we end up finding out that the Venom are in the scribe quadrant.
And so they have a little bit of a battle right off the bat.
Yeah, but we kind of breeze past it too.
Yeah.
It didn't definitely elaborate on it after the fact.
It was just kind of like, oh, what happened there in the college?
(12:46):
Let's be good with it.
Who cares?
We're going to send our elite squad off to do a little adventure spot.
We deal with the squad quadrant here.
After that, they get a debrief with Pancek.
So I think that's where we kind of get the tie back into.
He was knowledgeable about what was happening with that.
I think that may be why that was significant at that point, but I definitely think it should
(13:10):
have been elaborated on a little bit more investigated for sure.
Whenever the Venom do try to go and break out Jack, we do end up coming across a silver-haired
woman, which we end up finding out more about her later on.
And Zaden uses the shadows to kill them all, and it was just a lovely moment to bring him
back.
(13:30):
Violet says, I don't know what you paid to access that power, but it didn't change you.
And Zaden says it did.
And she says, do you still love me?
And she thinks to herself, I can only think one way to prove it didn't.
And he's like says, what kind of question is that?
She says, do you still love me?
Announcing every word.
And he said, I could reach the rank of Maven, lead armies of dark wielders against everyone
(13:54):
we care for and watch every vein in my body turn dead as I channel all the power in the
continent and I would still love you.
What I did does not change that.
I'm not sure anything can.
And love that quote.
I just feel like she gets better and better at expressing Zaden's love to Violet every
(14:14):
single way.
I agree.
And I hope he can also sense the venom, which was a little confusing to me because it seems
like he's only since certain.
So I don't really know how that's useful.
Jack ends up kind of describing later on in the book whenever Violet and Imogen are interviewing
(14:37):
him and asking him questions and he ends up stating that they sense each other because
the sage can locate them.
There's a lot of questions there with that.
I agree.
I agree.
I feel like there should have been a lot more run ins with the venom if they could sense
where Zaden is because they're always going to suspect that Zaden is with Violet.
(14:58):
So 100% agree.
It felt like a plot hole to me.
But we do get a sweet little note from Lilith and she says, sometimes I worry about Violet.
She has her sharp wit, quick mind and steadfast heart paired with my bullheaded tenacity.
When she finally and truly gives that heart, I fear that it will overrule the other gifts
(15:20):
you've given her and logical secede its voice to love.
And if her first two liaisons are any indication of what we might expect, God's help her,
my love.
I'm afraid our daughter has an atrocious taste in men.
And I don't know at this point if this was real whenever she was with Zaden or if this
was like, I don't know at what point this is.
(15:43):
I think it was the first book.
They're talking about his, maybe it's the second book.
Either way, they're talking about exes or like if you've ever been in love or whatever.
And she says that she's only really had two relationships before him.
And so I think that's what it's talking about, which I mentioned this to you and I don't think
you agree.
But I wonder if, because that two keeps coming up, we've now met Halden.
(16:08):
So I keep wondering if the other one's going to come back.
And really, I thought Halden was going to be more important than it was.
Absolutely.
I did.
It was much more brief than I thought it was going to be.
So hoping he was going to die at some point.
He was really annoying, making him that annoying and that inept ruined the jealousy because
there wasn't even a second in my mind that thought maybe she should be with him.
(16:28):
I was like, no, he's pathetic.
Move on.
He said in that interview, she hates love triangles.
So maybe that's why she made it obvious.
Like it was never going to happen, but at the same point, if that's the case, why introduce
Dane, I do get why she introduced Dane.
And I do think it added something to the story, but Halden, I'm not really quite sure, other
than maybe allowing Arik to step up or Eric or however you pronounce this name.
(16:53):
Maybe.
I don't think Dane really ever was supposed to be a love triangle though.
No, no, no.
To me, it added something to the ultimate betrayal.
Not only did the college betray her and what she's learned, the people she's trusted also
betrayed her.
I think if it was just her mom, it would be one thing, but knowing also her friend has
betrayed her in different ways.
Her best friend.
(17:14):
I mean, he loved her kind of thing, but really, I think the vibe was actually to be, he's
a best friend and then the betrayal from that, like you said, as opposed to just he was brought
in for a love triangle.
Because when I look at it that way, it actually changed my perspective one day.
All the time we hit book three, I was like, Oh, Dane, Ados, and I'm eating my words because
(17:35):
I know I said in the past, he does not deserve a happy ending.
And I'll eat those words.
I take that back.
Eyes on me, Dane, Ados is another creature.
When you change that kind of perspective and read it that way instead, it helps place him
how I think Rebecca really wanted us to take him.
Rebecca said in an interview that she loved him.
(17:57):
So I was like, Okay, wait, something's wrong.
I definitely think I don't know what it was, but I think I said it in our prep episode
for a recap.
I think I was like, I hope he doesn't get a redemption arc.
I think we even said he needs to be in the balance with Jack Barlow.
When him, Kat and Jack could just go off and die, but wouldn't care.
Honestly, didn't bother me that much in this one.
(18:18):
The very first comment she made, I thought if that last all book, I'm going to be upset.
But it was like one or two.
And then she moved on.
Her boyfriend died and I was like, Oh, I kind of feel bad for you now.
I did too.
Poor girl.
But Jack Steel can go down a hill.
True.
Don't get me wrong with that one.
I don't know if we could ever get a redemption arc.
I will not eat those words.
But I do love back to the whole bed dispute.
(18:42):
I do love whenever Zaden makes the comments to Garrick and he like looks with him with
absolute death in his eyes and he's like, do not dictate the occupants of violence bed.
I loved that so much, like a little bit of possessive Zaden, but it still like it kind
of gave the iciness because Violet talks about how that was not like her Zaden that
(19:02):
she's used to.
So I kind of like that as well.
But I do like their little conversation before they go into the first meeting.
They kind of have a little flirtation chip.
And I have to say they're in the bonds flirting they had going on this book was top tier.
It was so good.
I was honestly a little mad whenever the islands did not have that because I was hoping with
(19:24):
her bond with her dragons.
They would still have that little conversation.
I was a little upset they didn't.
But at the same time it did actually make them confront their feelings head on instead
of kind of avoiding it.
So give her take what she got out of that.
It gave us the sexy scenes.
True.
Or the complaint.
We also get where Zaden involuntarily drains the headboard of some of its life.
(19:48):
And he even mentions that he like did not notice he was doing it.
So Violet does get a little like afraid of not him but of the fact that he did not sense
that which I do think that that's a little kind of worry.
Starting.
We also get where Violet sends Zaden the vision of them breaking the arm wire.
(20:09):
And we've always suspected whether or not that's due to her second signet or just be
part of the bond.
I'm wondering now now that we know her second signet whether or not that was actually her
part of that.
But I still am not sure on that.
I would think that would be part of it.
But I don't know that for certain.
Maybe that's weak furniture.
I'll talk about pushing the memory into Zaden's mind.
(20:34):
Oh, I think that's probably I was focused on the omor.
Yeah, I know you were.
I think that's a good chapter so I don't blame you.
I mean, the throne.
The armchair.
She loves furniture.
She does love furniture.
Emily and I have laughed at this probably since it came out.
(20:56):
But we are getting very tickled watching the videos of people on TikTok trying to explain
the position in the chair.
I don't think I've seen anything funnier than that at this point.
If you don't understand it, I don't feel like you should be able to read it.
I feel like I'm concerned.
Are you child?
Like what's happening here?
Did you literally reread it and still not understand until you saw it out of video on
(21:17):
TikTok?
I'm confused.
But anyways, I'm going to be honest.
When I first read it, of course, I glanced over some of the details.
So when the first time I read it, thank you.
Well aware.
Should be disclosure somewhere.
We should go to disclosure at the beginning of the episode that says, Emily does not pay
attention to details.
Carly pays attention to too much.
But I really think that as far as the details, I did miss it with that included armchair.
(21:42):
I did read that there was an armchair somewhere, but I really thought the shadows like picked
her up in that scene.
I thought she was up against a wall being picked up by the shadows with her hands above
her head.
Rebecca book four, because that would be a great, great one.
But when you realize it wasn't, when you reread it, did that make you understand better?
(22:02):
Yes.
Honestly, I think if I would have not watched those videos before my reread, I probably
would have been thinking the same thing because I would have just still glanced over those
details, but I had to pay attention more to those details because I now was brought out
that, oh, this, I was like, there was an armchair scene.
I don't remember this armchair scene.
And then for the shadows of other hand, I was like, oh, I know what scene they're talking
(22:25):
about.
So I'm just a whore.
That I just got it first.
It's a possibility because I was like, why do y'all need a video explaining it's very
obvious what's happening in this scene?
No, I was thinking it was shadows.
Like I thought the shadows held her arms above the head.
That's a great idea.
(22:46):
I've seen that in other books, but it was clear that she was sitting in a chair first.
To be honest, it made it hotter to me, but details are details, I guess.
I don't know that's hilarious.
Those are just so funny to me though.
The people are literally on TikTok making these videos to show you how they're set up
in the chair.
After the first task force basically gets assigned, I'm not going to call it the quest
(23:10):
squad because I feel like that's defeating the purpose.
But that was not the quest squad.
Oh, the first one.
You're going to get so dramatic.
I'm not going to call it the quest squad.
If Riddick's not on it, it's not the quest squad.
Laura is the wing leader we get introduced to and she ends up taking a flyer by knife
(23:32):
point and Dane kind of steps up and was like, hey, knock it off.
They're like, you know, you no longer lead us because you deserted us kind of attitude.
So by all it starts panicking wondering when somebody's going to step in, when someone's
going to stop it.
She even like wishfully thinks like, oh, where's Zaydem when you need him?
We end up getting this bad bitch energy from Violet after Darn it, saying Dane isn't the
(23:57):
strongest.
The first time she said it, I was like, come on.
And then she said it the second time.
And I was like, okay.
Thank you.
So she steps in and after she like deflects like the fireball or I said something along
the lines of like just another rebel who needs to be marked as such.
Violet ends up saying rebel is so outdated.
(24:18):
We prefer the term revolutionary.
And if you're going to wield, then it's me you're going to be dealing with.
Ora says you dare.
And she says, I dare.
And she opens her archives and starts to release this wave of power.
And she says, you see Dane's too honorable to wield in a challenge, but you'll find that
my sense of morality has learned to waver.
(24:40):
You lift your hand against him again.
And the next one goes through it.
He's the reason you're alive.
He's the reason you're all alive.
Which honestly, I did like that because she was stepping up and defending Dane, even though
he still was kind of trying to earn it a little bit, but loved that so much.
And what's crazy even is like the professors were standing there watching it, just letting
(25:02):
it happen.
But I do feel like it had to happen for them to start like bonding together.
Like there needed to be one big thing to like get them all to go.
There had to be a line drawn in the sand and it made very clear that it was not going to
be allowed.
But there is also a quote that one of the professors say that I also want to read and
(25:24):
I think it's pronounced and Ontario.
The professor.
He says, choose to fight your common enemy and there's a chance you'll live to graduate.
Personally I like her odds.
The last time a shadow and a lightning wielder fought side by side, they managed to drive
the venom back into the barrens for a few hundred years.
We'll figure out how to do it again.
That's the first time we get introduced to the fact that this is the first time in quite
(25:48):
a long time, which we're assuming is probably 600 years ago that to chat or a shadow wielder
and a lightning wielder husband together.
So I think that that's like something crazy, but also we ended up finding out the Zayden's
replaced as that side's shadow wielder makes me a little nervous.
Let's not talk about that.
(26:09):
I'm not ignoring that.
He does not exist.
I don't know his name.
I don't know where he's from.
I don't know what he looks like.
I don't care.
He doesn't exist.
Yeah.
We ended up finding out the violets X is going to be a part of the death squad, which is
what I'm going to refer to as the first squad that all died basically.
The council agrees to Adana and violets terms without the flyers being a part of the college.
(26:36):
The council agrees to also give Zayden back his Duke of Tyrandeau title, which kind of
comes into a significant play at several points.
I'd say all of it, the end specifically.
Not a big deal.
At this point, we didn't know.
But we end up coming up with a plan or Mira and Violet does to find a way to keep the
(26:59):
flyers being taken away and it involves doing something with awards.
I still am kind of kind of up in the air on details of exactly how it went, but it was
successful, however.
I got the end result.
Yeah, that was all that was important.
But the next day in the battle brief, Dane's dad comes back, which hate him too.
(27:20):
I think I hate Colonel Ados more than I hate Jack.
I think it's just because he was more dominant in this than Jack was to be on.
Maybe it just give or take the day to be honest.
That's fair.
But he accuses Violet of treason.
We also get our first wave of dizziness, which I'm going to talk about my theory over
this kind of later in the book because it comes quite a bit of play, but I think it's
(27:43):
important to notate that.
She's brought in front of council.
They have like this sweet banter in their heads again, which I think I'm going to quote
several pieces of that because it's just so freaking good.
You're so funny.
But he was like, you know, what happened to not getting into trouble?
And she's like, I never promised that.
(28:04):
And she says, you look tired.
He says just what every man wants to hear from the person he loves.
And he's like, I've decided I'm not, I'm done not knowing what you're up to.
She said, good choice.
And she said, someone once told me the right way isn't the only way.
And he's like, do you have a plan violence?
I'm assuming so since this patch seems cleanly cut.
And because they signed the treaty, kind of forgiving all of their past crimes because
(28:31):
they did it the night before this crime has been ignored.
And the look I just imagined on Dane's dad's face was just golden.
I wish I could have seen it in person, to be honest.
I agree.
But Zaden says in his mind, brilliant reckless woman whenever he finally realizes her plan.
(28:52):
Don't you love him not knowing everything?
Like her, I mean, I don't want to call him secret.
Her having like her own plans and secrets or whatever.
And then him finding out.
I love his reaction, though.
His reaction is not like to scold her or reprimand her.
It's a thousand percent like, God, I'm so in love with you.
I love every second of this.
Every time he's like, you're so hot.
(29:13):
Like it's such a validating thing.
It's just so cute.
I wish she would have done that in the last book because it would have made the last book
better too.
It was just like, I hate that you kept this for me, but I love it.
Thank you so much for doing this for the people.
Whatever.
We're moving past that.
This one redeemed it.
So he basically starts punishing Colonel Edo's starts punishing Violet now that he's replaced
(29:37):
her mom and sending her friends to the front lines or what he thought was the front lines,
which kind of backfired in his face too.
But as they do end up at this outpost, they end up finding out that a town next to them
is being attacked, which ends up being Marines family's village.
And so they end up going into the village and trying to save everybody.
(30:03):
The night before that, though, they do end up staying in Zaden's room at that outpost
that he used to be at, which is only is still warded for Violet and Zaden.
It was crazy to me because like when you leave the outpost, why wouldn't you take, I feel
like that's an unnecessary sense of room.
Maybe he has things hidden there.
I don't know.
But I thought it was strange.
It makes sense if he did.
(30:24):
He just has like six different rooms that he has warded for only him and Violet.
And I'm just like, I feel like that's unnecessary.
Can you imagine the next round of people coming and they're like walking into the wall?
I think it like kicks them back, doesn't it?
Like whenever they hit the, because whenever they try to go into a room, they hit the wall
and they'll bounce back.
Can you just picture them walking right into it?
(30:44):
Yeah.
What is happening?
Like I'm being so confused.
But we get the first instance of her dream walking in this book also in that scene.
So well, kind of like a dream of fire enveloping a room and they're trying to like save a picture
and she tells cat like save yourself.
You're like next in line or whatever.
So she thinks it's a really weird dream at this point.
(31:06):
We don't know that she or her second segment is a dream walker spoiler.
If you did not know that and did not read this book, we already told you it would be
spoiler.
So that's on you.
And absolutely is on you.
And let me just say this.
I think we were all a little disappointed that that was her segment.
Although I'm not disappointed overall.
I was expecting it to be like a little bit more.
(31:28):
I was disappointed until the second time I read the book.
And then as I read it again, I was like, OK, now I'm trying to piece together these different
things.
I think I'm even going to go back and read fourth wing again right before the graphic
not audio comes out because I feel like that's important to read or listen to that too because
it's so dramatic.
(31:49):
It's a gift to humanity to have a graphic audio.
Anyways, the gift to humanity is a humanity.
It's literally like if you don't get the actual episode of that happening, at least you get
the graphic audio so you can make that episode in your head.
Well, I'm going to say this with the way the world is right now, this being released on
(32:11):
the 21st was a gift to the world.
Yes.
But Violet is able to defeat people in their dreams or harm people in their dreams because
she makes the comment whenever she is in Zaden's dream, I believe it's the second time of the
sage when she finally has realized now she's a dreamwalker.
She goes in there and he is like, she makes a comment in the first one with Zaden that
(32:36):
before they find out that she can't ever use her powers.
He can only use his.
But once she disconnects herself from Zaden's body, all of a sudden she's able to pull a
sword out and stab herself in the dream and stuff.
And he wide eyes how they describe the sage.
Like he's shocked that she's able to do that.
So I do think it's going to become significant that she can either harm other people or affect
(32:58):
how that happens because the sage is actually choking Zaden out in real life in the dream.
So I think it's going to play the same as her.
And I think she's his opposite.
Yes.
I think that's why they become so significant.
And that's why ultimately he wasn't let down in that moment.
He realizes that she's his opposite, which then not, I don't want to say scares this
(33:19):
sage because honestly, I'm not sure he's even capable of that emotion, but sort of like
shocks him and gives him like, oh, wait a minute, you know, kind of moment.
It's going to be really cool to see how that's developed and how it's used in the next book.
I know we've talked about it.
I hope that she'll be able to locate Zaden in his dreams and talk to him in his dreams
or whatever.
But it'll be interesting.
I think we're probably going to get.
(33:40):
Dream sex.
That's what I hope for.
Okay.
I'm down.
That's not going to be hot.
I'm down, but I think it'll take us a little bit for her to master that signet towards the
beginning of the book.
So I don't think we'll get a lot of that till more of the end, probably in four.
It is really interesting and makes a lot of sense considering that she's been in his dreams
(34:01):
already before.
Like I said, I was disappointed at first.
I'm not disappointed now.
I would have liked something that manifested and showed in this book like a big deal, but
it didn't.
So it's okay.
And I will say thank you because she's been doing it all this time.
So it's already manifested.
So the conversation that whether or not Violet should have blown up is solved.
(34:22):
And I needed that to be answered.
Well, and we also get who the distance builder is solves in the book as well.
And I'm not sure if it's Garak is that distance builder, but I'm honestly kind of wondering
why he didn't use that in the whole Liam situation.
Kind of rubs me the wrong way that he did not wait.
(34:44):
Garak wasn't there.
No, but if you would have heard about happening coming to be there, how would he have heard
about it in time to get there?
How did he hear about this one to get in there in time?
Which one in particular?
The one where the first trap that Stephanie had set.
He was at the scene though battling.
(35:06):
No, he wasn't supposed to be there.
But he asked how he got there quickly.
Zaden.
Since her.
Right.
He said that Zaden said he got word from somebody at the outpost.
He got word from somebody at the outpost.
Okay.
Well, Zaden sent him because Zaden heard.
(35:26):
How would Zaden and Violet have told Garak to get there for Liam?
Garak wasn't right there.
They weren't in range.
Garak wasn't at that outpost.
He wasn't at this one either.
No, but Violet and Zaden weren't together.
They were separated.
(35:48):
That's how Garak was able to get a message from Zaden to get to Violet.
I feel like there's some matrix where Liam could have been saved.
I think blaming Garak for not saving Liam is wild.
Now that we know he could have been there in a second.
Oh, that's not fair.
I don't think it's too far outstretched.
(36:09):
If he had known about it, I think he would have come to save him.
He didn't know.
He can't go somewhere he doesn't know where to go.
It actually doesn't matter if Garak had been there or not.
Because Day died, which is what killed Liam.
Not Liam died and killed Day.
If he got there, maybe he could have saved the dragon.
(36:30):
Day died sacrificing himself for Taren.
And then that's what killed Liam.
So Garak couldn't have saved him.
If they had one extra person that could have been possible.
No, because Garak himself couldn't have done it.
If Garak hasn't traveled through time on his dragon, has he?
Yeah, that's how his dragon got there.
No, he just walked.
(36:52):
He himself only appeared, not his dragon.
I think it's both of their dragons.
His dragon got knocked out by the tornado too.
Either way, he's not to blame for Liam's death.
That's mean.
That's not very good.
Yeah, no, he's knocked out too.
He says, drop and I'll catch you.
Well, good.
She's hurt down the ground.
She asked what his dragon's name is.
He said he's slowly coming to stubborn ass turned and took the impact on his stomach,
(37:15):
saved my life, but outcropping halfway down, knocked him out temporarily.
So he did distance with the dragon.
I would think it only makes sense if he distanced with the dragon, to be honest.
Yeah, I think he only mentions at the end that he doesn't distance with the dragon because
he's weak at that point at the very end of the book.
(37:36):
Which is why I think he's who turned Vin in.
We'll get that later.
The argument between the two of us, it's either him, Bode or Eric.
Those are the three options.
It could be a bit of a brain and two.
I've convinced myself it may be.
I've seen that, but I got to be honest with you.
(37:56):
I don't think he would.
Who's he going to turn for at this point?
I don't know anything more about him.
I'm not hoping to hope that he actually matters at this point because Seagal saw the sage
and has not said that it's Neolan and she would know what he looked like because of
(38:19):
Taren.
It's not Garak's fault that Liam died.
That's not nice.
I love Garak.
We'll talk about it later, but Garak eating that chocolate cake is still one of the funniest
things to me.
Everyone else is just staring at him.
It's like, what?
I did find it weird whenever they're in that moment with Garak after the tornado.
(38:40):
The question she's dying to know is which dragon chose Violet first.
I think that's a weird question.
I'm not sure why she asked, but she does end up learning from Thefty that Adarna is an
irid, which stands for iridescent.
It's a joke between them and Riddick.
I don't know how he didn't suspect that was the case.
I was a little underwhelmed with the name being irid and short for iridescent, but it
(39:06):
does make sense.
I feel like there wasn't a lot of thought that was brought into it.
The names of the dragons weren't really elaborated on for the other ones like Scorpion Tail because
their tail looks like a, you know what I mean?
That's fair.
There wasn't a whole lot of surprise there.
You know, Scorpion Tail isn't Adarna Scorpion Tail.
I'm going to be honest with you right now.
(39:27):
I don't know what any of their tails are, what that means, what they look like.
I don't know any of that.
It went over my head when I read it the first time.
All I knew was that feather tails were important, but we still don't really know why.
Look at who was not paying attention to details.
Mark it on the calendar, people.
That's because there was a lot going on in book one.
(39:48):
Well, and all I cared about was the color of the dragon was because I was wondering if
she could stab the venom and it has poison or something on her tail because of course
we would have poison in their tail.
But I thought that she was supposed to have a feather tail, but she didn't.
She chose Taren's tail, which means she wouldn't have the special tail.
(40:08):
I don't know what the special tail looks like though.
Just a thought.
I think that's a great thought.
Unfortunately, I'm just not very helpful.
It's okay.
We ended up finding out that Stephanie also wants Violet to come with Zaden and choose
her as her teacher, which also still unsure what's happening there.
(40:31):
It seems to me like maybe they have to have like certain amount of people underneath them
before they get promoted.
I don't know.
I don't quite know what her thought is or maybe she's trying to cause her uprising against
the other groups like of Sage and stuff.
She's weird.
I'm not sure.
It seemed a little abnormal to the rest for sure.
(40:52):
I do really love though, whenever Taren comes back around and she thinks like Taren's died
and he's like, do not dehydrate on my count.
Okay, but my heart when I thought Taren was going to die that early on.
I was stressed.
I was mean to Carly because I read this super fast and she is not a fast reader.
(41:15):
So I was just like, prepare yourself for.
She was mean.
It was very mean.
I was like, prepare yourself for, I think I worded it as thoughtful.
So unless you knew what I was talking about, you wouldn't like know.
And I was like, prepare yourself for like thoughts of bad thoughts that could happen
or something like that.
She said, I don't know what my eyes are tearing up.
(41:36):
She said, prepare yourself for the worst.
No, she said the worst thing you can think of, that's what happens.
I did.
The worst thing and so when she gets there, she's like, oh my God, he can't be dead.
Taren's going to die.
Does he?
No.
(41:56):
This has he had me thinking he was going to die.
She didn't talk to me for several hours after that.
No, and Emily's and she's like, have you got there?
Have you got there?
And I'm like, yes, I've already read it and moved past it.
Thought I was going to have a heart attack.
Um, it's unfair.
So after all that happens, they end up going back Colonel General, whatever his title is,
(42:18):
Danes dad, tries to like be sassy with him and say like you just obeyed the direct order
of law, tries to prevent Brennan from being there to heal them and Brennan stands up to
him and actually changes his last name back to soaring Gale shock.
I think it was kind of peer pressure from his sisters, but not going to lie.
He also demands everybody to get out of the room Zaden does and kisses violet.
(42:43):
Super hot.
I agree.
Love him.
Then we end up getting this excerpt, which I don't know.
I think this was some points.
The only reason why I don't think this is whenever he left her at the end of the book because
it still calls her cadet soaring Gale.
But it says you might be angry when you realize I didn't wake you to say goodbye, but it's
(43:04):
only because I no longer fully trust my ability to walk away.
And as his recovered correspondence from his grace, Lieutenant Zaden Ryerson, 16th Duke
of Tyrandeau to cadet violet soaring Gale.
So I don't think that's the end of the book.
I think that maybe the one night that he did leave and then he disappeared for 10 days.
It had to have been past him getting his title back.
(43:27):
I think it had to have been some point whenever like he because he disappeared twice for like
substantial amount of time and one was like for like 10 days and the other time was right
before the armchair scene.
But it wasn't, he didn't disappear without knowing she knew where he was for those times.
Yeah, but he left without saying goodbye.
I remember her saying that at some point, like he left me without saying goodbye.
(43:49):
So I think that that may have been at that point because she's not referred to as a duchess
or anything like that towards the end of the book.
I think whenever people are quoting that, I don't think they have the timeline right
with that quote just because of that fact.
Maybe he's still calling her cadet, right?
Reissan's kind of situation where he's like, no, she's the high lady of the night court.
I feel like he would be bragging about Violet being the duchess.
(44:10):
So yeah, that's a good point.
He says, the thought of you being out there beyond the words facing down a known attack
of venom triggered something in me I've never felt before.
It was hotter than rage and sharper than fear and cut deeper than helplessness.
(44:30):
All because I couldn't get to you.
I would have killed anything and anyone in the moment to reach you.
No exceptions.
I would have channeled every ounce of power beneath my feet without hesitation if it had
landed me at your side.
And she says, you'd never kill civilians.
He said, if I'd been there beyond the words, I would have drained the very earth to its
core to keep you safe.
(44:51):
And then they continue talking and she asked, am I talking to the man I love or the Duke
of Tyrandor?
She says, either way, this could be really embarrassing.
And he says both, I don't want to be different people to you.
Anyone else?
Fine.
Just not you.
You're stuck with all of me and all of me is quite capable of keeping your confidence.
(45:12):
I'll use Tyrandor to protect you, not you to protect Tyrandor.
The man that you are, Satan.
Love that so much.
However, then I kind of get disappointed with him and just like a few sentences later
when she does get the letter from him after he's been called out and she ends up reading
it and she realizes by his wording that he has fed off the ground again.
(45:37):
And so I was a little disappointed in that because I thought we had some control going
on, but he was outside the wards.
So it kind of is expressive.
That's a lot harder for him to maintain that control whenever he's outside of that boundary.
Understandable.
It is what it is.
I don't know.
So it is what it is.
I don't know.
So I don't know going with image into question Jack and she asked questions was our me and
(46:02):
Carly has already talked about this a little bit.
I was very disappointed in the line of questioning.
I didn't feel like it was really like it was questions.
We already kind of knew the answers to and that was the only time we actually got questioning
from Jack.
So I feel like we should have got more from him out of this.
Do you think though that maybe we got this little touch and it references that one scene
(46:25):
where Stephanie wants to kill Jack that he's spilled things.
She doesn't want him to spill that maybe it will come into play in the next book more
and like that maybe he told her things like you were talking about image and wiping them
that we just don't see till later.
Yeah, that definitely to me, it doesn't make sense how we only got one interview with Jack.
So that's where I believe that part of kind of my theory that image and has been wiping
(46:50):
her memories all along.
And that's why she's been dizzy.
I think she has interviewed Jack more than this time because this was not useful information.
This was information she already knew.
So I feel like the useful information she did learn and it got wiped.
That's where some of my connections of my dots with the image and theory is because I genuinely
(47:10):
believe that image and I think because every time that she's referenced being dizzy, like
even like I was reading some of the chapters today and when she references that she's talking
about, I wonder how many times that has happened like whatever Zaden gets news of the Wyvern
crossing over and how quickly they've come over.
And she's like, I wonder how many times that's happened and all of a sudden she's dizzy.
(47:31):
And she's talking about a couple other instances where she's almost like trying to recall a
memory and she's like asking herself a question and then she becomes dizzy.
So to me, all I know is she gets real dizzy a lot.
And I'm telling you this now, it better not be a pregnancy trope.
I generally do not think it is.
(47:51):
I know that people are saying because they're talking about offspring.
I think that's in relation to a dharma.
I don't think that's in relation to a pregnancy.
Rebecca, I have read multiple of her books and I have not seen a accidental pregnancy
trope in any of them.
And I don't think that that's like something that seems like on brand with her.
It doesn't make sense in this context either.
She's channeling power and almost goes to burnout.
(48:13):
Like it would kill a baby.
Well, and my thought too is like, we've just got strong violet.
And if we get violet, who's trying to navigate being a duchess and saving Zaden and saving
the world basically, I think that we're just going to get violet sitting at home, taking
care of a baby and not wanting to go out and fight in the fourth book, if that's what the
case is.
And I just, that doesn't seem like where we're going because she's even said in an interview
(48:36):
recently that she was really excited about this book because a violet kind of gaining
herself confidence.
So to me, I just don't see her taking that away from violet because I do think it's going
to be hard for her to protect the air of Tyrandor and also be out there fighting at the same
point in time.
I think it's fair.
Accidental pregnancy is disgusting.
(48:58):
It's not a trope that I would enjoy.
I would still read it, but I wouldn't enjoy it.
I don't know.
It might ruin the book for me.
If it goes back to the way she was being kind of whiny and not strong willed, I think it
would decline the book for sure.
But I just mean like, it's not realistic.
You know me.
I keep coming back to that.
(49:19):
It has to make sense.
If you're telling me this is what's happening, her body could not sustain developing life
in these conditions.
I agree.
It just doesn't make sense.
A woman to be pregnant.
Chill.
To me, I can see if they get their happily ever after, which I don't believe they do,
just because of the opening transcripts of Justina's comment.
(49:40):
Rebecca does love a happy ever after.
She loves to devastate us in all different ways.
I think our happily ever after maybe in Justina's point of view and not in Zaynepra.
I think the happy ever after maybe that they die together.
Just not of old age.
I don't think that's going to be happily ever after.
(50:01):
I think because they're not going to die at the same time.
I guarantee they're not.
They could sacrifice themselves together.
One lives a few minutes longer than the other, at least.
No, we're not because I'm not reading it.
All it to this day, if we get a scene where Zayden Violet died together, guarantee that
(50:21):
we will get a perspective from one of them who is living a few minutes longer than the
other.
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
No, it's not dumb.
We've read the last letter.
We know how to sing.
We've read Liam's.
No.
I'm not reading that.
I'm going to cry right now.
I'm not reading that.
I will put the book down and say, OK, they're dead.
(50:43):
That's it.
That's all I needed to know.
But we do get where all the friend group goes to visit Justina, because the devil.
She's not the devil.
I don't know why I said that.
I was going to say, Jack, is Jack there?
But they ended up finding out that Justina, because she abandoned her post.
I'm going to end the concept of like speaking of her.
(51:07):
I know, but I totally knew what you meant like you're using the phrase.
I never once thought Justina was the devil, but then you were like, oh, just this is all
the devil.
So then I was like, oh, OK.
My bad.
She got demoted because of her deserting with the others.
On the way there, though, we get a wonderful statement by Riddick that I do think is because
(51:29):
Rebecca has like listened to her viewers.
And Riddick says specifically us.
Do you know how many times Emily texted me just oh, she listened to our podcast.
Too fast.
So many times.
And I was like, no, honey, I think we just guessed what she was thinking.
Give us the credit.
I will die to this day that Rebecca listened to our podcast.
(51:50):
You even said that she doesn't listen to him.
Yeah, but that doesn't mean she doesn't.
She's just not saying she doesn't.
So that way other people don't try to influence her.
That was far more complicated than it needed to be.
Gosh, OK.
(52:11):
Anyways, Rhiannon says leadership is hard on both of our schedules.
We're together.
She's talking about her and Tara's relationship.
But he's right.
You and Ryerson Bicker, like you've been married for 50 years and neither of you want to do
the dishes.
And Violet says that's not true and Riddick says agreed.
It's always the same fight.
If you stop keeping secrets, it's my secret of nature that attracts you.
(52:32):
And why can't you just stay out of harm's way for five minutes?
And I just love that so much because it is like what everybody was thinking, like, please
stop the storyline.
I mean, that was our biggest complaint in Iron Flam was just like, literally secrets,
but you're so attracted that you're keeping secrets.
So like, I mean, it was literally what we said in the whole episode.
(52:54):
OK, but also like Riddick the entire time, like mocking everybody and like calling people
out this entire book was so good.
Yeah.
But my head, like when they're arguing.
To like from mind to mind, I just picture them like forehead to forehead.
But then like arguing my mind.
It's so weird.
(53:15):
It's not.
It's no, like literally like I wish I had somebody else here to show you what it looks
like because it's strange.
But that's what my mind does.
And so they like everybody else sees them and it's like, what are they doing?
Yeah, that's how I picture it.
I thought I was going to do my head.
Like I would totally believe if you like said like nose to nose, but like for it to fill
(53:40):
in.
I mean, like they're like right here.
I just imagine like a third eye opening up on both of their heads and they're like arguing.
I don't know.
Super weird.
I'm telling you, it's weird.
Yeah.
No, that's not what I pictured.
But I do imagine them like face to face, like getting up in each other's face.
But speaking of super weird, but super hot things.
(54:04):
We get Professor Zaddy.
Oh my gosh.
I don't know if he could have gotten hotter.
Professor Shadowwielder, Duke of Tyredor, Professor Zaden, and then on top of all that,
(54:24):
we get him's villain era.
And now we're really going to get him as a villain.
The next one actually is wait.
This is just getting like, I'm just like, literally, how can you get more attractive?
I didn't think she could get a step in between Duke and Tyredor and then like Vin and Zaden.
(54:45):
But she added that step that I didn't know I needed and I enjoyed it.
She added forbidden.
That's what it has been.
Yes.
Because it was by the code of conduct, they were not allowed.
And whenever they requested a kind of exception to the role because their relationship existed
prior, of course, they had a report to Dane's dad about that and he denied it.
(55:06):
Yeah.
So it just to me was just crazy.
And then like even Rihanna's kind of caught off guard and she like questions because Violet
after she finds out he's a professor and she can't date him anymore.
She goes to try to find Dane and Rihanna is like, what the hell are you doing?
You just haven't seen him for like 10 days.
What are you doing?
And she was like, well, we can't be together.
(55:27):
And Rihanna was like, good luck with that.
Like, it's just terrible.
I love Dane though, also realizing what code it is and being like, oh man, and not like
in a good way, but like a damn, that sucks.
Like, you know, like he's clearly moved past.
Yeah.
And I think that's why I started actually liking Dane a lot more is he still wasn't
(55:48):
trying where like Iron Flame.
I still feel like he was trying to get back in a good graces to kind of try to be with
her where this one he was just accepting like, okay, there's no chance.
Like she's madly in love with this guy.
I'm moving on.
And we got a new little Dane romance cooking.
Yes.
Oh, but we do end up where Violet ends up asking Dane to break into his dad's quarters because
(56:10):
his dad is now living where her mom was and that is where Violet's dad has hidden all
of his research.
So allow Dane to think about it.
I don't quite know why we have to, but she kind of flexes in front of Ados and she says
that, you know, if you're going to be mad at anybody, because he kind of disowns Dane
(56:31):
a little bit.
And she's like, if you're going to be mad at anybody, be mad at me because I'm the one
that killed Veresh.
And they kind of knocked Ados off of his socks for a minute.
And I kind of liked that a lot.
But afterwards, Dane does end up agreeing to get the research for her.
He has like this moment where he kind of flexes his power a little bit.
And she's like, you know, I've been, this is the piece of you I've been missing.
(56:53):
Like it's super hot.
So love that as well.
I love that we kind of get all of Zaden's roles kind of in different chapters.
So like when you just think he's going to be like Ben and Zaden, all of a sudden you
get Professor Ryerson and then it's just like a hot thing there.
And then you turn around and you get Duke of Tyrandor like flex.
(57:16):
And so you're just like, it's kind of like whiplash a little bit, but it's all between
like a bunch of hot Zaden.
So in the entire time it's not even, it's like, just like almost like a title.
He's not even really doing anything different.
So it's, it's staying how it is like whiplash.
But then also we got Violet stepping up, coming into our own, which made it even hotter because
(57:37):
all the little encouragements that he kept giving her just for there.
Well, and that especially comes into play whenever he finally teaches this sparring
class and they have like a bunch of group of people and somebody kind of challenges
him a little bit and they're like, you know, how are you're only like a year ahead of us?
(57:57):
Like how are you qualified to teach us?
And he's like, come to the mat and I'll show you.
And so like hot, he takes like a bunch of these people down super hot.
And I absolutely giggled and like, it kicked my feet.
Riddick says, I'm either completely in love with your boyfriend or utterly terrified him.
(58:18):
Not sure at the moment.
Kat says both, you can be both.
Trust me.
And Traeger says, you shouldn't be either.
And she says, I'm never scared of him.
And he's not my boyfriend.
And Zaden responds in the bond and says, agreed.
That's far too casual a term for what we are.
Kicking my feet.
Oh my gosh.
I just loved it so much.
(58:41):
Eric asked, like, how are we going to, how are you going to teach us to defeat you?
He said, I can teach you to try, but there's only one person capable of taking me down
one day and it isn't you, Gray Castle.
And like everybody turns to look at her and he then calls her to the mat and he's like,
no exception, Soren Gale.
And she ends up responding, do me a favor, don't let me hurt you.
(59:02):
And so then they go to the mat and they start sparring.
Oh, loved the entire scene.
Like super flirtation because they're flirting in their mind, but then they're also like
doing this like sparring flirtation.
And he envelopes her in darkness and he basically says, find me in the dark.
(59:22):
Like you've got to find me in the dark.
And I think at this point, and now looking back and reflecting, I think Arik has already
got his signet at this point.
And I think that he is teaching Zaden to find her.
He's told David that this is going to happen.
He is teaching Violet to find him in the dark because of that scene where the darkness envelopes
(59:44):
everybody at the very end.
And she has to use the darkness to find thephanie to kill her.
So I think that this was already a point where he already knew and that's why he's training
her to find him in the dark.
And you think Eric told him and is a part of this?
I think this, see, this is why I also think Eric is the highly possibility of person because
(01:00:06):
I think at this point, Eric already knew what was going to happen in the final battle.
And there's things that Eric put in place to prepare that final battle to be successful.
I can see that.
But I keep going back and forth.
I'm going to be honest.
I am very far at this point in time.
I know the other day when we talked, I was a little bit more towards Garrick and Bodie
(01:00:27):
being a possibility, but I honestly generally think it's either Eric or Brennan at this
point in time.
Just because my reread, a lot of things came out that I was just kind of like, okay, I
didn't pay attention as much to this in the first part because I didn't think it was important,
but I do think it's important now in who could possibly be that Benin.
I don't think it's Bodie because it says new brother and that's very intentional.
(01:00:51):
The reason why I don't think it's Garrick or Bodie is because he has referred to Garrick
and Bodie as his brothers previously.
I can see that for Garrick as well.
Yes.
I am a little cautious because he could say new brother because it's a Venon brother and
not regular.
And Garrick talked about burnout.
We see Bodie like vomiting and retching.
(01:01:12):
And so I don't think it's him.
I think there's something else going on with him.
I do think he's one of the ones missing or whatever.
I think he's with Zayden helping, but I don't think he's the one to turn Benin.
Garrick, I'm 50-50.
I'm not really sure.
Eric could wholeheartedly seeing him like see the future and see what happens to him
turning to do whatever.
To me, I imagine with Eric, I imagine that moment where Dr. Strange looks at Iron Man
(01:01:37):
and he's just like, this is the one.
And so to me, that's what I imagine Eric playing out all of those scenarios in his head.
And he only sees one outcome and that's him becoming Venon to take them down from the
inside.
That's fair.
I feel like I need to know more about his signet before I can commit to being that powerful.
(01:01:57):
But I can definitely see that being a route for sure.
And then I can see Brennan, but I don't understand why Brennan would turn at this point.
I could see him already being Venon, but turning now doesn't make sense to me.
And then we still don't have answers about the runes.
(01:02:18):
So I don't know.
My guess right now is Garrick or Eric.
I don't know why it's the names that are close, but those are the two that I'm at right now.
Yeah, I agree.
I agree with Bodie.
The only part, like I see in a TikTok and honestly, that's what maybe reevaluate whenever
I was doing my reread of who it could possibly be is because that TikTok was like all those
(01:02:41):
chapters are like in the different perspectives are happening at the same time.
So Garrick is with Imogen in her chapter.
Ree has like they mentioned Bodie in either Imogen or Rihanna's chapter.
And then in Imogen's chapter, she talks about how the darkness is like ascending on them.
So when as they're going back into wherever they're going.
(01:03:03):
So to me, like Zaden's already at that point and Garrett's already like worn out and not
able to distance willed back to where it was.
I mean, he mentions that.
So I personally think at that point, Bodie's on the ground throwing up.
Garrick is over with Imogen as the darkness is ascending on them.
(01:03:24):
And then Dane we see and he's like being cornered and that's where somebody does something.
I don't remember which one.
Rihanna does something, but like all of them are accounted for.
Eric has been accounted for headed towards Zaden in that scene.
And then Brennan kind of disappeared, you know, after he took care of Mira and like
(01:03:44):
goes somewhere else.
So that's why I leave those two options open because we don't know where Brennan is at
this point in time in those matter of those couple chapters, but we do know where is headed
towards Zaden.
So.
So Eric, to me, makes the most sense.
I think Brennan was still mending Mira.
Yeah.
So I think he probably could be accounted for.
(01:04:05):
Eric makes the most sense.
I would agree.
I also though, like we thought Mira was suspicious at the last battle and it ended up being nothing.
Yeah.
So who really knows?
Yeah.
But bottom line, I think Garrick, Bodie, Zaden and Eric are your four riders that are
missing.
Yeah.
I do that.
I just like, to me, that perspective, the highly likely one is Eric at that point because
(01:04:31):
he's the one that's headed south.
We don't have any accountability for at that point.
Yeah.
And I don't remember Imogen talking about that to be at the same time.
So I'll have to glance back through that.
The tick to tick said it was like the very end where her and Garrick are like together.
She talks about the darkness ascending.
So if that's the case, I definitely think that it's Eric is a possibility.
(01:04:53):
And I think at this, and that's why I went whenever I was going back in the reread, I
think that Eric knew about it at this point that they're sparring on that mat because
he's teaching him how to ascend.
And at this point, we don't know if Violet's got her memory starting to be removed.
So if that's the case, she may not know that Eric knows and she may have already known
that Eric was able to predict the future and she hid it from herself because she didn't
(01:05:19):
want to know that information up to that point.
Yeah.
Maybe.
To me, it's the one that makes the most sense in the order of operations.
No, I agree.
I think that it makes the most sense based on everything that was stated, but I don't
understand still about the eggs.
(01:05:41):
I think it has to do something with that barter that, but it was only six and they said they
wanted a dozen.
I know, but they may have been able to barter her a little bit and say, Hey, like this is
all I could get.
What if they did one egg per aisle?
It's possible.
But, but they're trading dragon eggs.
(01:06:03):
Eric may have seen something because Eric's also missing at this point in time.
So I mean, there's a possibility if Eric's either been in or not been in, I think it's,
you know, highly possible that Eric may have predicted something because at some point there
had to have been this plan put in place.
I don't think this plan happened in just the 12 hours.
Like I think, cause even he says like, you know, do you think he's going to, like they're
(01:06:27):
going to go with it whenever she's talking to Segeal.
So I generally think that there was already a plan kind of in place.
It may even been a rough draft of the plan, but I do think there's a plan that Violet
had been compelled to forget at that point.
Okay.
If Eric turns Vin in, why would we trust him because he doesn't have a Violet to hang
(01:06:51):
on to, to not lose his emotions?
See, and my thing is, is our thought too was that Melgrin was Vin in and he was opposite
of Eric's.
I think it's opposite.
I think Eric is now the opposite of Melgrin.
So do you think Eric's been Vin in this whole time?
(01:07:11):
No, I think he turned due to this battle.
Does the Vin in signet not have to exist first for the opposite to be created in the regular
people?
I don't know.
And are the dragons doing it on purpose?
Because they control what they give.
(01:07:34):
I mean, Zayden does make the comment that the dragons were building an army whenever
they were choosing the March ones because they knew they were going to get more than
one segment.
This is getting out of control.
I still think Bodie lied.
Oh, Bodie.
Absolutely.
I think he has some sort of intrinsic or whatever signet because he says no, just like Zayden,
(01:07:56):
but I don't think he has the same one as Zayden.
Yeah.
Which Zayden's is not intentions.
In this book, even more so, Violet says, is he honing his signet?
Like, I didn't say that out loud.
Evidently, it's not a typo and maybe it'll get explained in book four or five.
I don't know, but it's driving me crazy.
(01:08:18):
Yeah.
Maybe she really does know the truth and they wiped that memory too so that she wouldn't
tell.
I don't know.
It's possible.
It's a lie.
My brain is like.
They make the comment that the only other person that would protect Zayden is equally like
above anybody else would be Imogen.
(01:08:40):
It's just like the gears are just turning and there's so much.
I don't know.
Well, speaking of gears and turning, somebody else got turned upside down and that was Holden
whenever he gets inside of the sparring gym and he is sitting there trying to like flirt
with Violet and he asked her out.
(01:09:02):
Zaden overhears it and he knocks him up into a wall basically and he's like, oh, so sorry.
I was trying to block, you know, a first year somebody from doing something and he totally
knocks out the daggers crown prince.
So like.
Holden was very annoying and I didn't like that.
(01:09:24):
He kept trying to touch her.
I didn't either.
But I know he'd be.
I felt he was necessary for us to get that like.
Next level of Zaden jealous Zaden.
I don't know.
I mean, like I liked the scene, but I didn't think it like he was already hot throughout
the entire thing.
(01:09:44):
So I didn't have to have the jealous Zaden if that makes sense.
Oh, I love.
We just were like checking every single box that Zaden could be.
I felt like in this book.
I'm probably that.
Yeah, no point.
I just mean like I don't think it.
I really thought there was going to be more to the jealous Zaden.
No, I loved, loved, loved whenever he said, do you love him?
(01:10:05):
And he's like, I have to know.
I can handle it, but I have to know.
And she was like, I was with him years ago.
Did you love him?
And he's, she's like, you're actually jealous.
And he says, yes, love, I'm jealous.
I'm jealous of the armor that holds you when I can't the sheets on your bed that caress
caress your skin every night and the blades that fill your hands.
So when the prince of our realm walks into my classroom and starts talking to the woman
(01:10:29):
I love with what only can be considered as intense familiarity and then has the audacity
to ask her out right in front of me.
Naturally I'm going to get jealous.
Yes, please.
No, it was great.
I'm not complaining.
I just thought it would be like, I didn't actually think Violet would leave Zaden, but
I just kind of thought he wouldn't be so annoying and dumb.
(01:10:52):
Oh no, 100% I knew he was going to be annoying.
That was the only way that was going to work out because you couldn't love him.
So she had to make him either evil or just an absolute a whole who knew no boundaries.
Evil.
But that's kind of where she went with Zane.
So she can't go that withhold them too.
(01:11:13):
Dane wasn't evil.
But you thought like he had malintentions whenever he sent Violet or like sent the Mark
ones to the outpost.
He didn't have malintentions.
He thought he was doing the right thing.
He was wrong, but he thought he was doing the right thing.
(01:11:35):
But we all knew that it was wrong because he should have broke the rules for her.
He didn't know all the details though.
He knew enough because he said I'm going to miss you.
And he didn't know going to die.
Well, who knows?
He might have.
I don't know.
I didn't like Dane at that point anyways.
I'm not defending him.
He's better now.
But Halden, I thought Halden would be like a almost like another Zaden, not quite as
(01:12:03):
hot and capable as Zaden.
But he's going to he's like the first in line to take over.
I thought he would be a little bit more capable.
This level of ignorance is like, it doesn't actually make sense.
How's he not already dead?
To be honest, well, it seemed like he was sheltered.
But I think that honestly, the reason why he was like that was to almost make Eric step
(01:12:28):
up and be capable because Eric even says that like, you know, you're not capable of, you
know, not risking this mission.
And so I'm going to go into your stead basically.
So I think honestly, he was only put there to make Zaden jealous.
But then the reason why he was deflected out was because Eric was able to step up and become
(01:12:49):
more of a predominant figure.
I don't necessarily disagree, but I just thought like at least a tiny little bit of self-preservation.
I mean,
I was really hoping he was going to get slaughtered at some point.
Like, or that, yes, or just kill him someplace in my time.
You know, like that's kind of what I thought.
I think if he would have gotten killed, Zaden would have a massive satisfaction.
(01:13:12):
Oh, he would.
That'd be real hot.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I kind of wanted him to like endanger violet and Zaden hurt him.
But that was an actual reaction to have that happen.
Yes, that would have been nice, but that would have started a war.
(01:13:34):
So I don't think that would have been positive.
No, he says throughout the book, he's trying not to start an incident.
So he would have threatened him and said that his consort, he can't harm his consort without
starting a war.
So if he wants a war, a war is what he's going to get.
That's what he would have done.
(01:13:54):
I think in this book, it was Act First, Think Later.
A lot was Zaden.
Yeah, because he was so worried about not draining the power from the earth.
Speaking of Act First, Think Later, Aura, whenever they go get the jewel from that thing
on their first quest and she like sets Grady ablaze.
What the hell was she doing?
(01:14:15):
And not knowing that, but how mad at she thought she was whenever she was like threatening
the fliers and then to like the door.
Basically, yeah, like a creek and all of a sudden you're trying to burn down the whole
town.
No, I got that.
She got killed.
Like I was.
No, I was going to say if she hadn't died right after that in that same scene, I was
going to be so mad.
Yeah, I was like, no, that literally her punishment is to be put to death because that's absolutely
(01:14:38):
unacceptable.
As stupid as Grady was, but still.
It was also very weird that I was kind of like Pancheck was not really mentioned a lot
before this.
So I don't know if he was read into this whole thing, but the fact that he was in the other
books, not in this one, though.
Yeah, he was mentioned a couple of times like getting debriefed and stuff, but like the
(01:15:00):
way how Thefty knew that she was going to go after this necklace was a little weird to
me.
I'm not quite sure.
And like also cat couldn't recall what this necklace looked like or where it was at.
So I don't know how Thefty like was able to determine this.
So there was a lot of questions.
It's a lot older.
It's just there's some connections there that I just don't know how she knew whether or
(01:15:22):
not Pancheck was the one that said, or there's somebody else.
I'm not going to lie to you other than the aisle where.
Okay, other than three big moments from the aisles, Zaden's mother in the poison scene
and the temple scene where she beats the queen and really only that battle scene because
she wields without magic, not even because of what happens with the queen because nothing's
(01:15:43):
accomplished, except it might be relevant.
The next book as we learn and then the scene like in the bookstore, other than those three
big scenes, nothing else from the aisle matter to me.
I'm not going to lie.
I'm sure there were little tidbits that might come back and be relevant later, but for the
purposes of this book, other than those three big scenes and honestly, the bookstore scene
(01:16:05):
was because it was funny.
We finally got some data research also because it was funny her mixing up Zaden and Dane.
Oh, I loved that so much.
Yeah.
And then the second, the temple scene, that was only a big deal because she wielded without
there being magic.
And so we're trying to figure that out.
And then the last one was Zaden's mom, obviously partially because it's Zaden's mom, but also
because they try to poison them and she poisoned them.
(01:16:26):
So like other than those three things though, they didn't really matter in this book.
There was a lot of information, a lot going on and very little actually, even though even
the scene with the Panthers where they almost die.
See, my thing is I think they went to each aisle to test.
She got tested by each of the gods, like six predominant gods.
(01:16:51):
I think each island represented a God and a task that, because each one of them mentioned
a different God that they have a test for.
So I think she was being tested by the gods because I've seen many theories on people
thinking that she has actually been dedicated to all gods to some extent.
And I think there's six predominant ones because each of the islands seemed to be familiar
(01:17:11):
with her dad or her dad had research that was familiar with the island.
So I think it's very well possible she got dedicated to more than just, if not more than
two gods and they were all like test for violet because even like, I mean, the dragons say
at one point we're not testing a darner, we're testing violet.
And so I think that was not just in that moment.
(01:17:32):
I think she had been tested by all six others because six is a predominant number.
They go to six different islands or six different gods that are sponsored.
Six original wielders.
Yeah.
So I think she was tested by each of the gods.
And I think that's why she was ultimately given that blade at the very end because the gods
(01:17:52):
had all tested her and she was deemed worthy enough to wield the wrath.
Well she wielded dunes wrath for sure at the end.
Yeah, I know.
I mean, that would make more sense and explain to me why we went through all of that process.
Because that was the only part of the book for me that felt, I don't want to say it felt
dragged out because we actually went really quickly through each isle.
(01:18:14):
So it wasn't necessarily drug, drug out, but I didn't understand why we did all of that
with the result that we got at the end of this book.
If that makes sense.
I genuinely believe that she was being tested because it wouldn't, I wouldn't think that
if it didn't mention a different gone at each of the islands, it talks about how like,
hey, like, especially in the scene with Zaden's mom, they talk about like, hey, you've been
(01:18:37):
tested this whole time and you know, you haven't passed our test because you're not smart enough
kind of thing.
So I think generally there is some kind of thing related back to the gods because there's
six different dragon breeds.
Now there's seven, but you know, six original dragon breeds, there's six islands, six of
the figures that have not existed at the same time with the big powers.
(01:18:59):
So I think there's something to do with the six and gods of some sort because they mentioned
God so much in this book.
I think there's something to do with that.
And they talk about Violet being dedicated, but then not dedicated all the way.
So I think her dad may have dedicated because they said there's more than one path for her
to go down as far as whenever they talk about the dedication of the gods.
(01:19:20):
So that's my thought.
Okay.
So when we do get to the islands and start that journey, there was predominantly a big
part that kind of confused me a little bit, but I think it has to do something with Adarna
and my theory around Adarna.
Okay, whenever they get to the islands and there's not much magic, Violet can't speak
(01:19:40):
to Zaden and Seagale and the others cannot speak with their dragons.
However, Taren, Adarna and Violet still can.
The only part that confuses me is that Taren is still involved in this equation because
I feel like if it was directly linked to Adarna or directly linked to Taren that she would
only be able to communicate one on one with Adarna only.
(01:20:01):
But since Taren's involved, that's where it's a little confusing.
But at the same time, it's also confusing that Seagale and Zaden are not a part of that.
So I'm not sure, but I do think that my theory with Adarna has something to do with it and
that is whenever they're missing stuff about Violet's powers and things like that, they're
talking about how it's basically Adarna is like magic and Violet's like pure power.
(01:20:24):
So my thought is, is somewhere between the mixture is that Violet and Adarna are able
to pull from the air rather than from the ground like they're referring to Taren and
Seagale and stuff like that, like having to be close to the magical grounds to be able
to draw from.
So I think that Adarna is able to draw from the sky or air around them.
(01:20:47):
So that's how there's some kind of relation to the fact that they were able to still get
a little bit of magic, maybe how Violet was still able to wield as well while they were
on these aisles.
No, I think that's interesting too.
And I hope that it is actually explained and we don't just like breeze past it by like,
she's just more powerful kind of thing because it doesn't make sense.
I did forget to talk about this line.
(01:21:08):
I really love whenever Zaden stands up a little bit to hold him and they're talking about
the group that's going to go.
And he says, I ask permission from one person on the continent and it sure as a Mari isn't
you loved that so much.
Yeah.
Honestly, I think he even shocked Violet with some of his declarations of like his love
for her.
Absolutely.
Because she was just like in front of everybody too.
(01:21:30):
Like, I think that's like the boldness.
Oh my gosh.
When they first start their journey on the aisles and they go to see Uncle T. Yeah.
And he is like, just to be clear, am I here as a professor and how does like what does
he make sense?
He's like, am I a professor?
He's like, no.
He's like, OK, so not a professor, right?
(01:21:52):
Nope.
He sweeps up Violet.
Yes.
Yes.
And he like played Halden on his own words.
He just loved that so much.
And like honestly, at that point, I feel like that should have been like a very good point
for Halden to be like, OK, they're serious.
Not going to be.
(01:22:13):
But I think he kind of enjoyed the chase a little bit.
But the challenge.
Yeah.
Violet was not entertained by any of it though.
No.
It wasn't even like a, it wasn't even a second thought.
I also, what was also weird back to the island situation is whenever Mira gives her some kind
of rune that says it's going to block from sunlight, I feel like that was pointed out
(01:22:36):
like real weird.
I don't think it's a rune for sunlight.
I think it's something else.
Oh, I thought it was the rune for sunlight.
I thought it was pointed out to continue to get on the fact that Violet was like weak.
I just feel like that was like a weird thing to point out.
Girl, I would need that.
My first thought was I would need that rune if it was me flying on that drone.
Well, they talked.
(01:22:56):
They, the reason why I say it's weird and I think it was something else is because they
talk about previously how they were like trying to perfect certain runes and stuff like that.
She talks about getting dizzy at some point whenever they're talking about that.
So I think her memory was deflected is that and they come up with this excuse of basically,
hey, like tell me that's going to have to do with sunlight.
And it's really like something entirely separate.
(01:23:18):
What it is.
I don't know the relation, but I do feel like it's a weird thing to point out.
Even if it is, I feel like we could have played on her frail and weak in different ways because
even Zaden says at one point, like you, you're getting sunburnt whenever he's standing out
in the overlooking the ocean.
And he's like, it looks like you've got a little too much sun.
And if she's got this rune on her that's supposed to protect her from sunlight, why is she getting
(01:23:42):
sunburnt?
I don't remember him saying you got a little bit too much sun.
I thought that was about her being tired.
I thought about sunburnt.
It's possible though that it could be something else.
I mean, all I know though is if they're wiping this many memories, like the entire fourth
book might just be Violet's memories, which wouldn't be fun if it's a repeat of this.
(01:24:06):
My thought is Dane, his signet either evolves or Eric is somehow involved in knowing that
it will evolve and he is able to pull people's memories rather than like, like, you know
what I mean, long term memories and he's able to like recover them in some sort of way.
(01:24:29):
So I think that they all know that that's the case.
So he says, he's standing in the thing and he says, I'm going to stay out here for a
little bit.
You go, you need the rest and definitely need to get out of the sun for a bit.
Your nose is turning pink.
Did she have her rune on her at that time though?
Or did it stay on Taren?
(01:24:50):
No, she got, I think she got it whenever they landed at Uncle T's place.
Mira handed it to her and told her to keep it with her, that I protect her from the sun.
I thought she like put it in her pack that was on Taren's back, but that could just be
me like, driven that up.
(01:25:10):
No, but I definitely, I agree, there's definitely a possibility that, and like, could it even
be like two, not just one?
You know what I mean?
Like maybe it is sunlight, but also maybe it's something else.
It says, hold on, it says, so guess we have ample opportunity to try these out.
Mira swings her pack from her shoulder and then retrieves the leather pouch, several
leather pouches before picking up the one with marked with a circular protection route
(01:25:31):
I didn't recognize and replacing the rest.
Trissa sent these as a test to see if these runes will work out here.
She unbutton the pouch and hands me a palm size slice of what appears to be lilac colored
quartz tempered with the same rune that labels the leather.
That one's supposed to shield you from the sunlight, carry it while we're here, would
you?
She lifts her brow quietly, of course.
And then she says, I nod and slip it into my pocket, having some or any form of power
(01:25:54):
out here would put us on a more familiar footing, but it opens the door to kind of trade that
I'm not sure any of us want to contemplate.
I think it's a possibility.
Oh, it's definitely a possibility.
I mean, and if hers isn't, then like the other ones she had with her, what were those?
You know what I mean?
Like there's definitely more to it.
Yeah.
I do really though want to talk about the whole carefree Zaden on this island.
(01:26:20):
He was absolutely like even every one of them even mentioned like, who is this guy?
Did you drug him?
Like what's going on?
But I mean, he is so carefree and I think it's Riddick says at one point, like maybe
we're seeing the Zaden, like if he didn't have the weight of the rebellion on his shoulders
and it kind of really made me sad.
(01:26:41):
Like to think about it that way, like Zaden can't be carefree because he's got so much
pressure on his shoulders, but he's actually got this one moment to actually be.
And honestly, I think this is the first time that violets ever seen him like that carefree
either.
It's sad, but I mean, it was attractive, but at the same time it wasn't as attractive
as not carefree because like him having the weight of this world on his shoulders just
(01:27:06):
makes him like sense of honor.
I don't know.
He's like, yeah, you're hot.
But like it's even hotter when you're like depressed and stressed and like struggling
to even survive.
It's hot.
Okay.
Not in that aspect, but like, I don't know.
Just something about him, like whenever he has the weight of the shoulder, he's just
(01:27:26):
like very protective.
I love that energy about him where he's like protective and I don't know.
You're funny.
Not depressed.
But we also get where they end up at the bookstore and they get approached by this sweet old
like 90 year old lady.
I love the fact that Rebecca wrote in Riddick and Mira just like dying of laughter.
(01:27:50):
Like I think it made it 10 times funnier that they're also finding that like the funniest
thing on the planet.
Oh yeah.
I got tickled though when the bookkeeper described you almost perfectly.
She was like, but brown eyes.
I'm not sure I'd call those brown and like just kind of breezes past it.
Like we all don't know what is wrong with his eyes.
And I was like, I wonder why that detail was included.
(01:28:12):
But no, a thousand percent.
Ever.
Like I just pictured Riddick and Mira busting out laughing and I laughed out.
I just said the book down and I laughed out loud.
I did too.
I was like, that is the funniest, not even like trying to be funny either.
That's what makes it even funnier.
There were several instances of that in here.
(01:28:33):
Like I think she honestly did much better comedy in this one than she had in the past
couple to, I mean, I know there were some other places that were kind of funny, but
like I laughed for several places in this book that I don't remember laughing as much
in the other two books, probably combined even.
But I think that's because we got like more humor for more characters.
(01:28:54):
Riddick's always been funny, but we got to see more of Riddick.
So we got more of Riddick being funny, but we also got more of Garrick being funny.
And I think too that it was a little bit more of like they weren't going on life or death
missions.
So we got more of like down to earth personality.
(01:29:14):
They were, but like it wasn't like they knew they were writing into battle.
Like whenever they went to the outpost and Liam died, they went into battle.
Whenever they came back, they're at the college, they're preparing for battle.
You know, whenever you just had to bring it William down again, didn't you?
I mean, it is a point.
I refuse to reread the series because I cannot live through Liam's death again.
(01:29:38):
I can't do it.
This was my fourth reread, I think, and I still cry.
I can't do it.
I was driving to Branson and Olivia was asleep in the passenger sleep and I literally had
tears streaming down my face when I was listening to the audio book.
I can't do it.
It's not fair.
It's not right.
(01:29:58):
And the theory that people think that Liam's going to come back and he's the new brother
is Vinner.
Okay.
I mean, I understand wanting Liam to come back, but also I told him like this to you
already, but I think it would undermine his sacrifice if she were to bring him back as
Vinnen.
So I don't think she's going to do that.
But if she does, I hope we get all the hot Liam Vinnen, I mean, Vinnen villain moments
(01:30:23):
because that would be delicious.
I just can't see him as a villain though.
I mean, I don't think I'm back because I love him, but I just, I don't, I think that
would almost.
It ruins his sacrifice.
What was the point?
Well, that, but I also think it ruins like this imagery that we have of Liam.
I love it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
(01:30:43):
Golden retriever.
Yes.
I agree.
Yeah.
I mean, I think he's been kind of dark.
So him becoming Vinnen just emphasizes that a little bit, but Liam has never been dark.
He's been more of the light.
So like I just, I just don't see.
Laund and Burnett.
Do you think if Liam was still alive, Zayn would have ever become Vinnen?
(01:31:06):
Oh, that's a good question.
I know.
I asked myself that the other night and I hated myself for it.
Oh, I don't know.
Because I think Liam was Zaden's light.
Like I know he refers to Violet as that, but I think that he was like his moral compass
of a source.
Yeah, I couldn't see that because you're a Cambodia or not because Liam stands hard
(01:31:31):
in like his light and like his passion and like his Liam is the one in the shadows in
the very first book that says she didn't do that.
Her mom did that.
Yeah.
One of the very first ones to speak up like, yeah, oh, I don't probably not.
Honestly.
Yeah.
I don't think so either.
Oh, Liam would be so disappointed.
(01:31:53):
He would do everything to help him though.
He would be right there with Violet trying to help him out of it, but I do think he,
I think we would have gotten, if he was still be alive at this point, I do think we would
have gotten a point where he would have like given a big lecture to Zaden about how disappointed
he is in him and like how he didn't expect him to do something like that.
Oh, I wholeheartedly agree.
He would be like, and like Zaden would actually listen and be upset about it and not just
(01:32:17):
brush it off.
So I do also want to talk about the quotes whenever they're on one of the islands and
they do get kind of hot and heavy, but Violet makes a quote that kind of reminded me of
Taren's quote whenever he says, I know who and what you are Violet Soringale and Zaden
(01:32:41):
says, are you sure you know when I am?
And she says, I know who you are now Zaden.
So like it almost kind of brought me back with that comment where Taren was like, I
know what you are.
I know what I'm getting into.
So like it makes no difference to me.
They end up breaking the table, which Riddick kind of calls them out for loved that scene
(01:33:04):
too.
Like I giggled at that part too.
And we end up finding out that Halden is kept by the King, which honestly, Zaden kind of
thought what I thought was like, okay, sorry for him.
Like we're going to go back to sleeping together now.
But eventually Violet's like, we can't leave him there.
And he's like, okay, I guess I will save him.
(01:33:26):
But they go after Halden and apparently this guy, Cortland will only see somebody of royalty.
So he goes and he introduces Violet as his consort.
And he should have said it's his queen, but whatever.
(01:33:46):
He should have.
But I really love that when Taren says in her head, congratulations or commissurations
in order.
And I giggled so hard because it's just like classic Taren where he's just like, yeah, I'm
going to knock a hammer into your like kind of moment where you're just like, oh, okay.
(01:34:06):
I agree.
They end up with getting to this dinner.
And I think Halden ate his like guard.
I really think that, I mean, they implied it by him looking down at his plate after they
go to like serve the panther.
I really wholeheartedly think he ate that lady he was sleeping with.
(01:34:27):
Yeah, I don't want to think about cannibalism.
Yeah, wholeheartedly think that though.
I prefer that one.
But they, I guess it's another trigger warning.
True.
So we end up also getting kind of a hint that Cortland has previously made a deal with Zaden's
father.
They don't elaborate, but I do think that that is a key piece of information that I don't
(01:34:48):
feel like should be passed on by any means.
No, I wouldn't Cortland to die.
I'm not going to lie.
He's getting my nerves.
Yeah.
He probably, he kind of reminded me of.
Mad Hatter a little bit.
Oh, like kind of like all over the place.
Bad Hatter.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Like he's more like the Red Queen.
Have you seen Allison Warling lately?
(01:35:10):
Like kind of maybe a combination of two.
I imagine him as like a little bit chaotic and a little psychotic.
I mean, you have to be to kind of butcher the showmaster in Ragnarok.
Yep.
I do get that too.
That's, I could work with that one.
(01:35:31):
Although I also picture Uncle T sort of like him too.
But obviously this guy is much more sadistic than Uncle T is.
True.
I think this was like one of the top quotes out of this entire book.
And Cortland asked, to whom do you owe your loyalty?
Your grace.
Your father was a rebel from what I hear.
(01:35:51):
You're cut from the same cloth and yet you have, you've been restored to your title.
So to whom do you swear your fealty?
And he kind of thinks a minute and Cortland says, Navar or Tyrandor lie in this discussion
is over.
We fared quite well without the continent.
And Zaden responds, studying the king violet.
And he says, my loyalty is to violet first above everything, anyone else, then Tyrandor,
(01:36:18):
then Navar in the moments it's worthy, usually when violets in residence.
I agree.
That's such a good quote.
I love that.
I mean, we've kind of hinted at that.
We've kind of got that kind of like thought, but I think this is the first time that he
said like, I am putting absolutely everything above violet.
The first time in iron flame, he says to her at one point, like she's more important than
(01:36:41):
Erecia, that he would burn everything that he's had here.
Well, I mean, everything he's worked for.
To me, this is like him telling, he said that to her, but I think violet still doubted
that.
And this was like him explaining to another piece of royalty that he was asking for an
alliance with that like, Hey, I don't care about your alliance.
If it comes down to choosing this alliance with violet, like, you know, it was the most
(01:37:05):
honest, I think that violet kind of felt that it wasn't just like him and her private.
But absolutely loved that.
I agree.
I mean, wonderful.
And how then is right there?
Yes.
Love it.
Yes.
So Zaden ends up butchering 12 guards using the power from violets conduit.
(01:37:31):
And she ends up kind of holding like this power over the negotiations, which to be honest,
I didn't take it as like her trying to protect Zaden.
I know I've seen a couple other people that just like, Oh, the whole entire time her power
was like her trying to protect Zaden, like putting on this front.
I didn't get that from any of these scenes.
I got it as more of like, she was just like, Okay, he just showed his power.
(01:37:55):
So now I'm going to show my power kind of like moments.
I definitely think she felt threatened and not necessarily like she felt threatened because
Zaden felt threatened.
But yeah, she felt threatened.
She felt like her people, she defends Dane at one point because of power and Zaden's
nowhere to be.
I think it's less of Zaden defending everybody that violet loves and it's finally violet
(01:38:17):
defending everyone violet loves in this book.
And so I think that's part of that scene.
She's almost inserting her dominance.
Like, okay, you think you're the big dog.
Let's see who's the big dog.
Then like she's just getting tired of the act.
Yeah.
Like, okay, well, let me just show you then real quick, which is why she has a darn to
hold the panther in her mouth to be like, here's the toy.
(01:38:39):
Do you want her to play with it?
Or do you want it to survive?
Let's get this over.
Yeah.
I mean, like she just really pushes it to the next level to be like, let's wrap this
up.
I got things to do.
Yeah.
I agree.
They end up getting this kind of trade with unbrewl.
They go back to the college and they kind of emphasize a little bit about honing their
(01:39:03):
signets.
She also talks about how since Zaden channels that he comes back and his eyes are no longer
onyx their amber and violet then at that point in time ask Bodie to get the elixir
I guess is what I refer to it as to dampen signets and the bond with the dragon.
(01:39:25):
And I felt like that was the first point in time where violet actually recognizes that
there was possibly a threat with Zaden.
This is what his third time channeling.
I think so.
Yeah.
Third or fourth time channeling.
And so like she's finally realizing like there is a dramatic shift in him that I need
to be concerned about.
And so I, I personally think there probably should have been some moments prior to this,
(01:39:49):
but I think that shift in his eyes and like the different looks in his eyes, she always
unrealized like there's something that I need to be aware of.
I think the like him siphoning away from her also kind of scared her because up until this
point it's been always like in her defense.
And like it was like he, he says it's almost like uncontrollable.
(01:40:09):
He doesn't realize that he's doing it.
And now we know he did it away from her for someone else for whatever reason.
To be honest though, like the other times that he channels, they were all not in front
of her other than the bed scene, right?
Cause like whenever she came up, I don't mean directly in front of her, but I mean, like
he initially channeled to save her life.
No, I mean like, I think she realized like it was a problem because it actually happened
(01:40:34):
in front of her this time.
Whenever it happened in the battle, she came up after the fact.
And then whenever it happened, whenever he was away at the other outpost, she was not
there for that instance where this was the first time she actually got to see what that
wrath of him channeling produced.
And so like to me, that was kind of like a rude awakening.
(01:40:54):
She had confronted because like the, the bad thing she kind of gaslit herself out of it.
She was like, Oh, it's not that much.
If I'm not even looking for it, you can't really tell where this was like, he actually
took a shadows and murdered 12 people.
The one that he siphons with Garrick though, when they're out on the adventure or whatever
she was, I think was another kind of like awakening for her to be like, maybe it's not only in
(01:41:18):
defense of me, which is a problem like kind of thing too.
I think like it just started piling up and she was actually starting to get worried.
Yeah.
And I, to me, like, I think she was like talking herself out of like how bad it was because
she just never seen it.
And then that point she was just like, and she talks about how like his reaction and
(01:41:39):
his, his eyes and like how he, you know, kind of presented himself in that moment was not
her Zaden.
And so she talked about kind of like, she realized that there was something different.
And so I think that was just like an eye opening thing for her.
Yeah.
Eric ends up joining the quest squad and they end up going to the Isle of Dune, which they
(01:42:02):
get a little bit of a scene with Mira and this bracelet.
We find out Mira has gone to visit her grandparents or her grandma, which apparently her grandma
stopped talking to her parents and they're not weird little thing to add in there and
like we have no background, no context, nothing.
Well, what really bothered me about it is the fact that Mira wouldn't elaborate on it.
And I mean, even Violet made the point like, when am I going to be able to go see her?
(01:42:26):
And she was just like, yeah, that's a good point.
And then just didn't elaborate.
So I'm really curious as to what Mira has learned, but I also, I'm thinking in my back
of my head, okay, did Imogen delete some of those memories?
And she did find out what that was because she says that she smelled the parchment whenever
she looked at Mira's bracelet.
(01:42:46):
She had the smell of parchment with a memory, but she couldn't figure out what that memory
was.
I know, but like if she's erasing all of these memories, that's going to be the entire plot
of the fourth book.
We're going to just relive this entire book, but through the erased memories.
I don't think we're going to get like the whole book through the erased memories.
(01:43:09):
I think it would just be like flashbacks or like somebody tuning her into the facts.
So be like, you know, hey, we talked about this like a couple of months ago.
This is what happened.
Maybe like informing her of that, because either she can get back her memories or she
can't.
And I think it all comes down to whether or not Dane's home to sign it a little bit further,
(01:43:32):
not that's going to be the case, because I don't think image is going to be able to
reverse taking somebody's memories.
I just feel like that's a little bit too elaborate to be able to picture that, especially now
that we're kind of thinking that she has a second segment of earth.
I just, I just think that's going too far into her and her signal where we've already
gone very far with Dane and his signet.
(01:43:52):
So I feel like it just be most sense to elaborate on his.
Okay.
That makes sense.
Yeah.
And I just, like, if every other chapter we're having to do a flashback to a memory, it just
feels like we're going to have like a massive book.
I don't think so.
Like I picture the way I picture it is like there is at some point in moment where Violet's
(01:44:12):
just like, this is the point.
I need you to tell me what's happened so I can like make the best decision for something
moving forward with a Zayden, Terendor or Orisha, whatever.
And so I feel like she's going to be like, I need you to tell me what's happened.
I think they either sit down and explain it all to her or they're like, Hey, here's the
cliff notes.
What's happened?
This is the most important thing.
(01:44:33):
Or, Hey, you've told us not to say X, Y and Z until Z happens kind of situation or maybe
Eric's been like, Hey, this is the point you need to tell her what's gone on or what the
plan was.
Or maybe she wrote herself a note and she's hit it herself.
I don't know.
That's a lot of possibilities.
I just find the memory thing so much more realistic than the pregnancy thing.
(01:44:57):
I just don't see a pregnancy being the case.
Seeing for me, I didn't think it was either.
I thought that Zayden was unknowingly drawing from her.
I mean, it's a possibility, but at the same point, like he, there was several instances
where she was dizzy where he didn't perform any kind of magic or anything.
So I don't quite know what he'd be drawing from her for.
(01:45:18):
I don't, I don't think it was necessarily like drawing from her in order to do something
or even drawing from her intentionally or knowingly.
I think like he was unknowingly subconsciously just like pulling from her slowly all the
time and that's what like drained her all the time.
I mean, it's a possibility.
I'm not saying that's probably the second most realistic one to me.
(01:45:44):
Pregnancy is like, no, it's not.
I don't even want to talk about it.
It's not a possibility.
No, cause that baby cannot live in that.
So with all that though, we do end up getting that they bait themselves to be able to participate
in a trial for Dune.
And as they're doing this, it's Dane, Zayden and Violet get chosen.
(01:46:07):
A weird scene.
It is a very weird scene, but I do agree with Violet where it was all planned because they
had already three fighters, whatever, but she does kind of see people with the same
hair color as her.
And I really was kind of disappointed because Terrence says like focus on finding now, worry
about the hair later, and we still don't get any information about the hair later.
So like that's where it kind of bugged me a little bit.
(01:46:29):
I think we got enough information to elaborate on the fact that we acknowledge that Violet
started to be dedicated and then was stopped for some odd reason, but we don't understand
why everybody else has like full colored hair, half color hair, whatever.
So I am a little bothered by the fact that we just skipped over that whenever Terrence
flat out says like you'll figure it out after the fact.
(01:46:51):
It would make more sense that that lady was just like or the queen was like, Hey, I can't
give you any more information because you're not fully dedicated.
You don't have the rights to know this information.
I think she did figure it out later though.
At what point?
When she learns that she was the process was started and that Stephanie is also from there.
(01:47:11):
She now knows that's why our hair is silver and why those kids hair is silver.
I feel like those should have been more like more context though.
But like we just got like the start of it probably in this book, but I agree there.
I mean, like I said, the Endorna thing, there are several things that I felt like we just
got like a touch of to just make us even more confused.
And I mean, the silver hair thing we've gone on for three books now about.
(01:47:33):
So I feel like this is to me kind of a significant thing.
I mean, I think it's going to be because now we know that their gods are somehow involved.
But you also though thought it had something to really do with the Vinan.
I did.
So switch, I think it's kind of like.
And I just feel like there's more to it in some ways somehow.
(01:47:56):
So I just feel like there needs to be some further elaboration for sure.
Yeah, I agree.
So there is a public notice that's mentioned at the top of chapter 31 and says guardians
are no longer permitted to dedicate children in service to their favorite deity.
The decision to serve the gods for life must be made after the age of majority and of once
free will.
(01:48:17):
So my thought is like dad illegally started to change her or dedicate her or whatever.
Because I mean, obviously there's a public notice that's out that this is, you know,
she's like there's a certain age you have to be in.
I'm sure it's probably like 18 or something of like decision making.
Yeah.
But I'm curious as to who it was, why it was, etc.
(01:48:42):
Obviously I think it's that priestess that kind of had that knowledge of her.
But as far as to what I don't I don't quite know how or what.
But that's another reason why I think some memories were taken because there's a lot
of like, especially about this island, there's a lot of blankness that doesn't seem to make
sense because Dayton says there's a priestess that owes him a favor.
(01:49:03):
What favor does a priestess because we don't come into any kind of thing that I recall of
like Zaden did something for a priestess and now she owes him a favor.
Well, we don't know all of his life.
Could we set him in the past?
But that's again, another secret that we weren't inclined to that I feel like we're
kind of sorting it past secrets on Zaden's point of view at this point in my thought.
(01:49:28):
So are we?
I mean, clearly there's a secret, some of there's a secret plan for her to be married.
But if we're but if we're arousing her memories, but at this point, reading it, you think that
there's, you know, we're past secrets.
And then both or not.
But we get where they end up finding the queen.
(01:49:50):
She says basically we'll align with you if you bring us dragons.
I'm not crazy that they just set her up to get her tail whooped.
Yes.
It's kind of crazy.
Yeah.
I definitely think they had more thought that she would win.
And I think she even thought more likely she would win than she did.
(01:50:12):
But Violet, the rowing the dagger and getting Zaden's guy and then Steve will kick in the
queens.
I honestly, that scene kind of awoken me to the fact that Zaden heavily relies on his
signet to defeat people.
And so like the fact that he was not able to is kind of flabbergasting to me.
(01:50:36):
Like I don't know.
It just, I mean, I think he's still a good fighter against like normal people, but I
think he met his match when power was stripped.
Yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
We do also discover that Violet was somehow able to wield magic on this island.
She later says she thinks it was doomed like wrath or something along the lines, or maybe
(01:50:57):
it was a theory I heard, but it just to me like that, I believe back to my theory about
Adarna drawing power from the sky, you know, kind of thing.
We end up arriving at the other island and find out that Zaden's mom has remarried and
is married to a man of the council.
Zaden's kind of cagey with meeting with his mom.
(01:51:18):
He finally agrees to go to dinner though.
And I do love the scene where Zaden does find the vials that Violet has brought from Bodie.
And he's just like, no, I'm glad you have them.
Like you need to have them.
I do appreciate the fact that he acknowledges like, hey, it's safer that way.
I hate that he's having this hard moment where he's not able to trust his mom and then finds
(01:51:42):
out that he's also got Violet, he's not really told him, which she apologizes.
He's like, hey, I should have told you, you know, whatever.
But I think there's a reason why she didn't say anything because, you know, depending
on how far he could go, he could destroy them.
You know, Zaden also discovers he has two siblings.
That was so sad.
He's pretty crushed when he finds that out.
(01:52:04):
And honestly, it made me feel very, very, very sad for him.
I couldn't imagine the fact that my mother would run away and leave me with my father
who's leading a rebellion.
And then I ended up finding out I have half siblings and that's why she never came back,
or at least that's Zaden's thought process.
Hated that for him.
(01:52:24):
And then let her new husband try to convince me that I should do a marriage of convenience
just like my mom who left me.
Yeah.
What?
Yeah.
No.
We only do a marriage of convenience when it ends in real love.
Those are the rules.
I don't make them.
I just enforce them.
Yeah.
That's such a good saying and such a good quote.
(01:52:47):
It is.
So he says the guy in the council says a contract marriage would be most wise.
We would have legalities performed in the morning at the temple and then hear what will
no doubt be a plea for our assistance in the war tomorrow.
And Zaden says drop the papers and like everybody just like snaps in his direction like what?
(01:53:07):
And Violet even says I want the Dan Bond back now and Ferris claps and says, ah, there
we go.
What an excellent decision.
Shall we go with three or four years?
And Zaden says lifetime anything less is unacceptable.
And her full name for the papers is Violet Sorengel to ours.
And then that might have been my favorite.
(01:53:28):
It was pretty good.
And then he says my last name is tied to the title, but we could take yours.
And Garic says you can hyphenate or combine Roaringale, Sorosin and Violet.
Garic being in on it and like knowing where it was going from the beginning.
Oh, I think he already like at this point he had the ring made maybe or something and
(01:53:51):
Garic knew about it.
He got the ring made.
Where does she notice that it's missing from the I know that whenever he goes to 76 day
without drawing or whatever and he comes back, she mentions then that the blade was
missing the gym.
Yes.
So we don't know what point it was made.
But I definitely think even if the ring wasn't made yet, I 100% he talks about it.
(01:54:13):
He talks about it with Garic.
A thousand percent.
If nobody else, he talked about it with Garic.
Yeah.
That was Violet says that is not what they mean.
And he says, I don't give a fuck what they mean.
You may question our knowledge, test our honor or dedication as writers and flyers, serve
up riddles, fake scenarios, chess games for all I care.
But if you think I'm going to leave the only woman I've ever loved to a contract marriage
(01:54:35):
with a woman I do not get along with, then the lack of wisdom is yours.
Not mine.
And he says it's only three years and then you be back together.
Surely the potential of our alliance of our shared knowledge would make that sacrifice
worthwhile.
Think of Tyrandeau and he says, you cannot contemplate the things I have sacrificed for
Tyrandeau.
I lost my father, my freedom, my very, and he cuts himself off.
(01:54:57):
Says Violet is the only choice I've made for myself.
I won't sacrifice her for three years, not for a single day.
You would know that if you hadn't abandoned me, if you knew me at all.
Also, though, he was not in a position to even potentially try to sacrifice three years
with Violet because of him turning Vin in slowly.
(01:55:20):
So I wonder if the conversation would have been any different if that wasn't the case.
Yeah.
I agree.
I like this.
I prefer this version.
I still don't think he would have made this sacrifice.
So I mean, even before you.
I don't think so either.
I think she would have considered it more though.
Yeah.
But Kat also being like, what?
(01:55:42):
No.
What is he doing?
I liked that.
I was like, finally, she's on board.
She's understanding.
I also love in that same scene where we get Eric basically standing up and saying, hey,
I may be royalty too, but I'm at the whim of Violet as well.
They completely had her back as their leader so well.
And ready?
Yes.
(01:56:03):
And like the fact that so many people came together and just like, Violet is the person
you need to be looking at.
We have nothing to do with this.
We're here along the line.
I love that so much.
I agree.
I loved whenever Ferris even asked like a weapon to destroy them perhaps and Zaden kind
of smirks and he says she already is.
(01:56:24):
The acknowledgement of how great she is.
I think even shocking to Violet because everybody keeps telling me how great I am.
And this is the first slingshot she's like taking in the words and she's like, okay,
I am great.
Yes.
Well, this all had happened in the previous two books.
I don't think it would have ended up the same because I don't think she had the confidence
in herself that she did for sure happen this book.
(01:56:45):
I agree.
So we ended up finding out that the chocolate cake is poisoned and Garrick is the one unfortunately
that begins dying because he's in this cake, which nobody else is such a cake and Garrick
is over there just, I think she even says like it's like half gone or something like
that.
Like he's scoffing that thing down like he never had chocolate cake in his life.
(01:57:09):
But we ended up finding out that actually Violet poisoned the council prior to the situation
as well.
Okay.
I knew I didn't know she was going to like poison them with something that would kill
them.
I knew when her and Mira went looking for them, they were adding something they weren't
supposed to be adding.
I just know what it was, what it was going to do.
But I will say, I don't think Zayton's mom knew that they poisoned them.
(01:57:30):
No, by her reaction, I don't think so.
She seemed to like cower in the corner and like, you did this like, you know, I don't
know.
I don't think she was marrying though.
I don't think she's a great judge of character based on this fact.
I don't know, but I think Finn Morrison would have been fine.
(01:57:52):
And I just can't imagine leaving him, even if the,
No, I mean, like she's not a great judge of decision making.
No, no, I didn't mean that comment towards your thing.
I just meant in general, like I think about that often.
Like if I think Finn Morrison might have been very attractive as well.
100% Zayton, make it as looks from nowhere.
And like, but also like a little crazy.
So like it probably was a little fun, you know what I'm saying?
(01:58:14):
Yeah.
But I don't know.
I just think what the often.
We don't talk about Finn enough.
But then like, even in his like, when he's about to die, like, I can't remember what
his last words were, but they were like still fighting against the revolution or whatever.
So like that's also just hot, you know what I mean?
I don't know.
I don't know.
Anyways, so I also want to talk about the scene that I also kind of panicked.
(01:58:43):
So when they go to try to find the cure and they confront the cook and that blade goes
as soon as I heard that he threw the blade, I was like, oh my God, Riddick's died.
Me too.
He's dead.
And I like, I started tearing up and I was like, oh my God, I can't like Rebecca cannot
do this to me.
Like I was so freaked out.
And then like whenever he goes to pull it out, I was like, no, Riddick is like the worst
(01:59:06):
thing you've been doing.
Like I freaked out so bad.
And then for the fact that he literally like goes after the cook, just be like, you know,
I hate sewing.
Okay, but I was already struggling and sobbing thinking that Garrick was going to die.
Yeah.
And then we go in the kitchen and then I think Rick's also going to die.
(01:59:30):
I messaged Emily.
I'm pretty sure I did a voice memo of me just like wrecked.
And I was like, this can't be what happened.
I can't kill them.
I mean, and then I get past the scene and like, like literally like two sentences later
where it shows Riddick is not dying.
If I had just read it and I was like, okay, wait, so Riddick's not going to die, but it's
Garrick.
(01:59:51):
And like I just could not get my, I think I cried more during the scene.
I thought Taryn was going to die in this scene than I cried at any other scenes.
Well, and then and Darn it.
But like I'm going to be honest.
I didn't shred a tear for Traeger or Quinn.
I'm not going to lie.
I did for the Griffin.
Like that was the part.
Yes.
(02:00:12):
I felt bad for the Griffin and I felt bad for Kat, but I didn't like cry.
Like I wasn't, I'm telling you, I had to put my phone down when I thought Riddick and
Garrick were dying and I was sobbing into my bed because I was like pure heartbreak.
Like I was pure panic.
So no, I think once I had such big emotions about those scenes, I thought there's nothing
(02:00:35):
that could top them.
She full wholeheartedly had like devastation that was happening.
I'm trying to find it because I'm definitely going to play it.
Did you find it?
I did find it.
I'll stay here.
Honestly, I can't even listen to those last two messages because Garrick and now Riddick,
Emily and Raggolin.
(02:00:55):
I can't, I can't do this.
It's in 30.
I should be asleep.
Okay.
If Riddick's fine now, I can't handle this.
I can't handle this.
I can't handle this.
I can't handle this.
I can't handle this.
I can't handle this.
I can't handle this.
Oh no, I'm so nervous, bro.
Oh God, I've got to get it together.
And then this is your next one.
(02:01:15):
I'm doing better now.
Ah, that's funny.
I feel like a totally different person at the last one.
Um, I'm okay.
I'm better now, we're good.
I literally thought it was the end.
I thought we were about to get both character deaths in that scene.
I was livid.
Like I was struggling.
That was terrible.
She did too at one time.
(02:01:35):
Yeah, but she would we know her
She killed the little boy in the last letter she would kill Garrick and Riddick at the same time I
Don't know if I could take that I
You heard how I took it
I did I literally read the scene where then he says
(02:01:58):
She says oh no or whatever and I had to put the phone down because I just sobbed
Uncontrollably and could not get myself together
And then I literally read two sentences later and it's like oh Riddick's fun. Okay, that was too much
So in this whole like situation after Garricka saves Garrett or Zaden pins
(02:02:24):
Ferris against the wall and he starts as Violet describes kind of not becoming himself
so she steps in between Riddick and whenever he's trying to stop Zaden and Zaden and
What did you picture?
Zaden to be like in that moment
What do you mean that up?
Did you picture him like Edward and Twilight when he gets a little bit like
(02:02:48):
Uncontrollable because of blood or something
Like little like it's hot
Well, obviously like another personality or whatever a little bit but like hotter and like less like absolutely
He's definitely hotter than Edward
Well, like to me like Edward seemed like he was in pain even whenever he was like that was the acting baby
(02:03:10):
I know but like I can't imagine was that as hot where Zaden
It was definitely hot. Yes. It was almost was like don't stop
but after they get to the other island they get their magic back they can talk like inner inner wise and
Zaden and Violet kind of have a dispute about her stepping in between the two of them and
(02:03:32):
Riddick basically just like says don't mind them
They're back to doing whatever it is they do when they ignore everyone around them and pretend
They're the only people in existence and I really loved that because I do feel like whenever they have these internal conversations
That is what I like pictures like and they're just basically staring at each other having this like it
No, not for
I'm telling you it is
(02:03:57):
And they're just staring at each other like who's gonna back down first if like we're playing chicken
That is not what it is
They end up on this island where they have to play a card game
And they have to not complain about their heart or somebody else's card that gets this was the weirdest thing
It was like a almost like a
(02:04:20):
Circus like there were the circus acts kind of feeling it was it was very weird
The fact that they all were waiting for weeks on end in this arena to for them to basically show up was just
Uncomfortable feeling for me. It was weird. But Mira gets wine
Marine gets two orange tunics
Dane gets slapped which was funny as heck
(02:04:41):
It was and even like Riddick and Zaden are like trying not to laugh. Yes
Then Garrick gets a rusted steel bucket
Eric gets a fractured mirror
Which is another instance where I do think relates to the venom because I think that in my mind was like a fractured
Perception of himself
(02:05:03):
I mean foreshadowing predicting the future and then
Zaden gets an empty box which I'm still unclear with that could possibly be the violent it's all gone
Maybe
Violet gets a broken compass which I do believe will come into I think it's gonna be how she navigates her dreams
I think that that compass is going to play like almost like
(02:05:25):
To guide her to Zaden and her I have seen that theory
Riddick gets kissed by a man
Which is a normal thing except for the bands like not the most attractive, but yeah
Cat gets a golden necklace with a ruby
Drake gets an orange kitten that he ends up naming broccoli and love broccoli
(02:05:49):
That's gonna be like him and Mira's love child. Yeah, and then Traeger gets an arrow to the heart
Okay, listen that came so out of left field and unexpected. I knew it was gonna happen to somebody
I did I thought something was going to I thought something bad was gonna happen
But I thought it was more gonna be like a challenge or something like a little bit more of a buildup
He just turned around had an arrow through the heart
(02:06:12):
No, it's soon as they said they had to play a card game and they couldn't complain about it
I was just like somebody's gonna die like I but I thought it was like maybe like a poison
Like they had to like drink something and turns out it was like poison like that was kind of where my thought process was going
Go I didn't think an arrow per se, but I did think that actually I did think Drake was gonna be the one that died whenever he got the claw
(02:06:32):
so
That was my thought but
No, he got a cat a cat that is only a cat according to Rebecca's interviews
Which I picture the was it flurkin?
From Marvel's yes, that's what I picture this cat becoming like I don't know
(02:06:52):
I thought I would be every time I see an orange cat. I think of that anyways just because that's like a predominant orange cat
Garfield I know is also predominant, but I'm ignoring that
I see the flurkin every time
The flurkin makes more sense than Garfield in this context
True so there's a point where violet and Zaden are arguing in their mind again and
(02:07:18):
He talks about like his judgment being dependable like
You know violet's talking about how she's not meant to lead and he says I've seen the moments
You don't just rise to the occasion. You own it
Derveli unreal you poison the entire sure of
Hitos or Hitos for sake imagine who you'll become when you finally learn not to just embrace that confidence
(02:07:39):
But live it and she says you and he says better than me. You have to be you promise to help me protect tear indoor
Remember and she says I remember I meant it. I'll stand by your side and
Between a Darnus kind and the research we're compiling about Dark Willers will cure you and he says
There's no cure for me. That's why you have to become better than me. There's only you
(02:08:00):
Listen and I think that quote right there
Shows the entire time. He always planned for violet to lead
Bodie was a backup plan in case him and violet both went down
But he planned for violet to lead in his absence
A thousand percent
See I also took it as whenever he said like you you promised to protect me
(02:08:23):
He said like you you promise to help me protect tear indoor and she says I remember
I don't think that's he's related back to the conversation where she said like that
I think that again, there's been a plan that she's not privy to
And I don't think he is familiar with all the ways that she does not remember
(02:08:44):
Like things that's been said
You don't think he knows that image in his wiped her memories
I don't know if he knows all of them because at the end image and says I've done what you've asked me to do
Not what Zaden's asked me to do not what you guys have asked me to do
She says I've done what you've asked me to do
So I think there's parts of violet and her memories that may be image and wipes that
(02:09:08):
Zaden's not familiar with
Well, I definitely don't think I think
If there was a part of the plan to wipe any memories Zaden would have left it up to violet to decide that anyways, but
I don't know. I mean, there's literally if we're wiping memories
There's no telling what anything could be happening
(02:09:29):
