(00:00):
Hello everyone. I'm Carl. And I'm Em. And welcome to our podcast discussing all the

(00:10):
latest books. This is season two, episode 12, part two. And today we are discussing On
Extorm by Rebecca Yara. As always, we will save our writings until the very end. We promise
to give you all of our honest opinions and all the characters, chapters, and scenarios.
We don't mean any harm to Rebecca. It's solely our opinion. As always, we promise to Carl

(00:34):
and Mike, we read them. Period. So some trigger warnings for this book. And we try to include
as many as we can. We may leave some out. So it's always best to check for yourself if
you think there's any potential triggers with the way the story sounds. But there are references
to war, hand to hand combat, blood, intense violence, brutal injuries, gore, murder,

(00:55):
death, almost death, a psych on a death even. That's the one that got me, I think the most.
Animal death, injury, rehabilitation, amputation, grief, poisoning, burning, perilous situations,
graphic language, and of course sexual activities on the page. It talks about grief and parental

(01:15):
stuff, but sort of like that bad relationship with your mom, abandonment, that sort of aspects
in there too. Rejection. Yeah. So as always, take care of yourselves and spoilers will lie
ahead. I also want to point out that this episode has been divided into two parts. And
this is the second part. So if you haven't listened to part one, go back, listen to it,

(01:37):
and then come back to this episode. It's also going to contain major spoilers if you have
not read the book. So go read it and come back. Are you ready to get started? Let's
get into it. So just a reminder, we left off for the quest squad has left the islands where

(01:58):
they each received a gift. And unfortunately, Traeger received the gift of death. After
they go and bury Traeger on this abandoned island or burn him, they decide to kind of
split off and explore these smaller islands and come back at dark. And as they're kind
of talking, say the same when you've been unable to communicate with your mate for weeks

(02:20):
and are deprived by the choice. And that's Teran saying to Violet. And she says, humans
don't mate. And Teran says another sign of it, your furiority. I think that's kind of
hinting at the fact that they may be like fated mates a little bit. Now you're obsessed
with that thinking that they are, though. I don't think so. It's possible. Also, I want
to mention that Riddick and his dragon having a prank war is nothing less than what I expect

(02:45):
from Riddick and his dragon. Like, no, I love them. I heard somebody say that she's talked
about releasing novellas about the series. And I really hope we get one of Riddick and
his dragons point of view because I think that would be hilarious to read that. I agree.
Really not postmortem, though, because I don't want to. I don't want that. If she wrote a

(03:08):
novella just to give us his death scene from his point of view, that would be diabolical.
I think you would cry that whole book. I don't think I'd read it. You would read it. I don't
think I'd read it. We'll see. We'll see. I don't think so. If she wrote us a whole novella

(03:28):
just to give us his death scene from his point of view, no.
I also want to talk about the story time with Adarna. All I pictured was Olaf in that scene
where he's describing what's happened between Nessa and Anna. That's all I could imagine
the entire time. And she kind of even had the same reactions that was described. But

(03:51):
I did really like that. However, they ended up rejecting her after the irids do. And so
I felt terrible for her. And she even said to Taryn at one point whenever he was trying
to defend her. And she's like, don't ruin this for me. And then Violet even says at
one point, I don't think it's going as well as what she thinks it is. And so she thinks

(04:14):
it's going fantastic because she's proving how great and powerful she is. And they're
like, no, we want the opposite for our species. So you're not worthy. And then they turn it
somehow back on Violet and we're like, you're the one that's been tested. You're the problem.
I know I didn't like that. But also, I guess I don't understand why we didn't expect that.

(04:36):
It like Taryn knew and we knew with other quotes by Jack in the past that feather tails
are nonviolent and won't fight. So I guess I'm a little confused as to did we just think
that would be different? Did we know what we didn't want to crush her dreams? Like what
was happening here? I don't know. It makes sense to me. They were rude. And then they

(05:04):
won't fight. But then they skedaddle when Zaden shows up. Is it you won't fight because
you refuse violence or because you're scared? I found it kind of funny, though, that like
even Riddick or somebody says like, are they being like nice and kind of like a rude way?
Like, you know, it was just like the nicest rude way of saying every single thing. I don't

(05:29):
know. Like to me, based off of the way they treated Violet alone, I think it was very
offensive for a darned to leave her because like clearly Violet has shown you more care
and love than these people ever have. And they've spoken to you rude and disrespectfully
since the moment they've met you and acted like you were inferior in multiple different
ways. So yeah, but you know, everybody wants love from their parents and their family.

(05:52):
The couple things I do want to talk about in the chapter after that fact, though, whenever
is a Dinnix exposed in front of Riddick as being Venon and Violet goes off in the woods
and they start talking about everything. There is a point that I do want to mention before
the kind of funny part. And Riddick says, so where's the line? At what point is he too
far gone for you to defend him? And she says like, there isn't one not one he'd actually

(06:19):
crossed. And he's like, you really? What if he hurt someone you love? Will that change
your mind? She says he wouldn't. He hasn't in all these months. He won't. And he says,
not good enough. Give me a real logical line he has to cross for you to walk away and I'll
keep the secret. I'll scour every fucking book I can find. I'm here for that. I'm going
to save my man at all costs mantra and will be by your side in this horrifically dangerous

(06:39):
situation. If you can just acknowledge that there's a breaking point, you can put all
your faith in him as long as you believe a little logic for yourself, which I think relates
back to that quote that Violet's mom had said, you know, she was writing to Violet's dad
of like, you know, how she's going to put love before reason. And she says, I can't
imagine not loving him. And he says, you can never said you couldn't love him. You can

(07:02):
still love someone after you let them go. But you have to tell me there's a line that
you will let him go because if there isn't one, it's not just him, we're going to lose
by. And so she ends up saying that, you know, he'd have to kill another rider without cause
or hurt civilians, hurt my friends, my dragons hurt me. If he hurts me, then he's not him

(07:23):
anymore. So we found out where this line is. So I'm thinking that's kind of foreshadowing
that we are going to get this line at some point. I still think he draws from her at
some point. I do. Afterwards, they go to meet Zaden, he's waiting for them. And he kind
of, you know, has a little bit of a discussion and Brydic basically says like, the only way

(07:44):
that we're going to keep your secret is if everybody knows what's going on. So we all
know what we're kind of fighting for. He basically says, Hey, that lightning strike
up there, whenever Violet had kind of got mad and there's a lightning strike. And he
said that wasn't us, you know, doing anything. He says, well aware. First, because I trust
Violet and second, because it wasn't a big enough strike.

(08:05):
It's so childish. And then Riddick said, we're not back today jokes yet.
Yeah. And he's like, not that we ever were, but it's not happening. I'm a little mad
still.
But coming back home and we ended up finding out that an outpost has been attacked. The
queen is dead. Rhiannon talks about sending Violet to go against Theo and kind of like

(08:27):
the debris. And everybody kind of gets a little mad at Rhiannon, but Violet kind of
defends her and she's like, Hey, like that's her job is to make these kind of decisions.
And she ends up getting a package and it's this little nightie that is a gift from Zaden.
And turns out that this nightie is whenever they went to one of the villages and Dane

(08:48):
and Zaden go inside of the shop and she'd been eyeing this nightie from like in the
window or whatever. And so Dane had to translate for Zaden to order this nightie. And I just
like so much. Dane seemed uncomfortable when he was leaving that shop. But like at the
time I didn't like see that. But then after we get this, I was like, Oh my God, he literally

(09:09):
had to buy this basically for Zaden because Zaden couldn't translate. Yeah. In 40 in chapter
45, where Violet dream walks into what she believes is just a regular dream. But we actually
get that it's actually her into Zaden's dream. We ended up finding out. But Zaden's not near
her. So she doesn't think anything of it. I do really like that Violet does gift Zaden

(09:33):
after he's gifted her this nightie the Onyx cuff. And she tells him that it's basically
to remind them of their future and like what they're trying to work for a kind of though
all I could picture it was the twilight like, you know, the family crest that they all wear.
Like one of them has a cuff of some kind or something. So that's all I could picture

(09:54):
was like this cuff. And then for some reason, my brain like twisted it and it was like a
sweatband with like this breast on it. I don't know. So weird. Don't ask. So Felix ends
up showing up and this is the other instance where I do believe Violet's memories have
been wiped because Felix does show up and they talk about how close the Wyvern has

(10:14):
gotten to Aresha. And Zaden says how far do they get now and she thinks to herself this
is in the first time. And he starts talking and she talks about getting dizzy as they're
talking about this. So then my thought is like, okay, she's getting lightheaded because

(10:36):
she's trying to remember like this instance. But obviously it's failing quickly because
Felix had refused previously to come to their area and now he's voluntarily coming because
how short in the timeline is Zaden and and Holden kind of getting into an argument Holden
is angry because Zaden is taking in some of their refugees and Violet just says, you

(10:59):
know, this makes me love you even more because you're willing to do this. And I think it's
test to the fact that Zaden himself before that we they're kind of like in a courtyard
and one of the first years signet comes to light. And we end up getting where I believe
it's pronounced links manifest shadows. And Zaden basically says he's the balance. And

(11:27):
Violet says you're our generation's shadow wielder and he says not anymore magic knows
he's the balance. At that point, to me as a reader, it became evident that Zaden's a
lot farther gone than what even were privy to because Violet's not privy to that information
as much. But it hurt me a little bit because I was just like, he's a little far gone. But
then at the same time, I'm like, okay, we're getting closer to that veneer. I'm okay with

(11:51):
that. I know I can't decide if I'm really mad about it or not. Because it's going to
be hot. I'm sad because I don't want that to be like Violet's whole personality is like
saving. Yes, like the next six books. But at the same time, okay, I ain't going to complain
for a couple books, you know, I'm also kind of like nervous that he will lose himself.

(12:21):
That's what I'm worried about. Yeah. And then it won't be a happy ending because you'll
have to kill him. I agree. Also, I kind of want to talk about this moment because I did
really, I kind of got a little emotional because Sawyer is trying to ride again. And he's almost
like arguing with his dragon that he doesn't want him to make any kind of adjustments for

(12:45):
him and stuff like that because now he only has one leg. And he says to his dragon, but
it's not the same. You're the one who took a risk on me. I won't ask you to dishonor.
And Violet asked her, is that how you feel when you dip your shoulder for me dishonored?
And he says, I'm the second largest dragon on the continent and a river warrior. My tails

(13:05):
are legends and my mate is paralleled. My feet are matched. And she said that doesn't
change my question. And he says it would take a great deal more than a change of posture
to dishonor me. And so I just, I felt so bad for Sawyer because he doesn't realize that.
But Sawyer is also, this is his second time through the whole thing. So he's like to him,
his dragon took a bigger risk by bonding with him because he is a repeat.

(13:28):
I think because that's what was like fate and meant to be. He was meant to be a part
of that group.
Yeah. And so like, I, but I don't think Sawyer sees it that way. I think he thinks himself
is still like a failure and that kind of thing. So I hated that for him, but I do really like
that whenever he does get up there and does that, everybody comes out and they're like,

(13:50):
great job, you know, good job or whatever. And Riddick gets close to the dragon. He's
like, Sawyer, look at you. And then like the dragon kind of swings towards him and he says,
look at you from a distance. Very good in the middle of the moment. But they all end
up going back to Aresha. They are going there for some training, but we don't ever actually

(14:11):
really get to any of that. But we do also to note, this is where Violet notates that
the blade of Aresha is missing the gym. Brennan ends up actually coming to the room and he
like closes the door to silence the room and he says, basically, I can't mend Zaden. I've
been trying for several weeks, you know, there's, there's just nothing I can do. And she smiles

(14:34):
and that kind of like throws Brennan off from in it. And she, because he says like yesterday,
you know, we did, we did this and she smiles and she's like yesterday and he's like, you
know what, are you smiling? And she's like, yeah, because he's not giving up on their
future. Like he's not been ghosting her because he's giving up on the future. He's literally

(14:58):
been trying to keep their future. And I mean, I think that just attests to the fact of how
strong their love is and how strong it will continue to be.
Fingers crossed.
Hopefully.
Yeah.
So Zaden ends up showing up and he has basically said that he had hoped to make it a certain
amount of days because that was twice the time that Jack's basically his streak of, you know,

(15:23):
saying so that was like almost like proving to himself he could have that control to be
able to be with Violet, but he can't stay away any longer. He didn't make it the full
amount of time, but they have this amazing sex scene in the armchair, which again, we
talked about people are still trying to figure out how that's working. But afterwards they
end up having or falling asleep and she ends up walking into his dream when they wake up

(15:49):
saying where they actually realized that she's dream walking, right?
Yes. And so Adana, they actually kind of confront Adana a little bit and they were like, you
know, she says, is it true to Adana? And she says, I did not choose it any more than Teran
chose lightning, but you have been known to wander while dreaming. It's harmless. You're
mostly drawn to him and Teran says, and you said nothing. And she said, you did not inform

(16:12):
her the first time she wielded lightning. She needed to discover it for herself. And
that was the first time that they actually like realized what's going on. However, I
am a little concerned by that comment because she says it's harmless, but yet the erids,
whenever they confronted her, they said that you've given her something so dangerous like

(16:33):
to wield. So if that's the case, why is Adana thinking it's harmless? But at this point,
maybe it's because the erids understand that dream walking, you can actually like affect
people where maybe Adana is kind of immature in that aspect where she's not familiar with
that and she learns it as Violet learns it. Yeah, I don't know. Or it's harmless until

(16:53):
it's actually used and valid realizes what it can be used to do. True. So after all this,
we end up getting where they're under attack. As they're leaving, Eric kind of stops Violet
and he's like, Hey, you need to protect Dune's temple. Like that's how you protect Tyrandor.
And she's kind of confused by that. She kind of ignores it a little bit. But when Theo

(17:15):
arrives, Adana goes and guards the temple and says, Hey, like he said so. And she's like,
Okay, why are you listening to him not listening to me? Yeah, she's kind of confused, which
I feel like Adana also knows something further. I don't know. Something weird. We end up finding
out that Theo or they however you want to say, I'm just gonna call her Theo because it's
easier. But she's a priestess of Dune. And she and she's been barred from that service

(17:42):
for now. And so as they're like trying to protect the temple, Terrence hurt. They can't
fly. So they're fighting and everything. And the eards actually come at some point and
light the word zone and kill a lot of the Wyvern from the area. At this point, though, they

(18:03):
do convince Adana, which I am a little salty with Adana because of how she handled this.
They basically say, Hey, like you've got to lot to learn. We've reevaluated this. We want
you to come learn from us. And Adana kind of defends it. And she's like, I'm bonded like
our lives, our minds, the very energy that forms us is intertwined. And the guy just

(18:24):
basically says so when did like no big deal. That was crazy. Bonds are merely magical ties.
You're irid, you are magic, bend it, shape it and break it as you see fit. And my confusing
part is Adana says I cannot and he says, And yet you already did who bonded you first.

(18:44):
And again, that's the same question that Theo had asked before. So that's confusing to me
as well. And he said, who spoke to you first? And she says, Terran, you didn't speak to
me until you gave me your full name on the fight, flight field. And he said, see, humans
should only be capable of bonding a single dragon. And yet you forged a second connection
where there shouldn't be one. Only an irid can do that. Your instincts are excellent,

(19:08):
but you need instruction break the connection and come with me. And Violet does end up saying
like, and he, you know, he, Lea Thin describes that the other bond will protect her whenever.
And she says, you know, I want you to be happy and safe and thriving. I want you to live
even if it's not with me. She doesn't even say goodbye. She just says, I don't know how

(19:30):
and the next thing you know, she's flying off like,
and then Violet is literally empty and feels like her soul has been ripped out of her body.
I will say though, through all of that, as angry and sad as I was, the quote where she
says about Terran, like he's always been with me or whatever,

(19:51):
Terran leaves her bonds wide open, gives me unfettered access to him in a way I've never
had. He's always been with me, but now I'm with him too.
That was sweet. Honestly, like he can be sweet when he really
wants to be. Agreed. But after a little bit, Mira does end up coming to get Violet out

(20:12):
of bed since Zaden and Brennan haven't been successful. I do want to also mention though
that there is a comment where it said, but no writer has survived what you did. I believe
that's Brennan or Zaden that has said that and she says, except Jack Barlow. So I don't
know if that's hinting back to information that we've not been privy to yet because I

(20:33):
don't remember them ever saying or Jack actually saying that he's ever like actually been severed
with his bond, but we assumed that was the case that happened when he turned Benin.
It had to have because the dragon rebonded. Yeah. But it does say in one of the quotes
that I believe it's an iron flame that a dragon can bond more than one per or like why hasn't

(20:56):
a dragon bonded more than one person? So like that kind of makes me question that that's
a possibility. Mira and Brennan end up fighting over Mira visiting her grandmother. We end
up kind of elaborating on the fact that her Violet has been dedicated at some point, but
it also mentions that the temple refused to take her. It doesn't really elaborate any

(21:20):
further on that, which I, I foresee the fact that we will probably get a trip to go see
the grandma, but it does say mom didn't take me dad did. It's why he told you that little
piece of history, Brennan, in case you needed to put it together. It's why he sent me there
with those books. I don't think any of us actually knew our parents. Is that why you've
been so distanced lately? Why you constantly look at me like I'm going to grow a set of

(21:43):
horns because you think I'm going to turn it any second. And later on it says she said
that the heart that beat for you or within you would do the wrong thing for the right
reason, reach for unspeakable power and turn dark. And so Brennan says within her or for
her and Mira says, isn't it the same thing? Violets at risk of turning and the with powers

(22:06):
like hers and Zaden stops her and says, stop, it's not Violet. It's me and admits that he's
the one that has my heart beats for her. What chapter is that? That is 54. So then we also
get a point where Bodie and Zaden kind of get a little bit of an argument, which I think
was put there simply for the fact of causing that mystery of who the person was that changes

(22:30):
at the end. But he kind of gets into an argument that he wants to be the rider. Zaden's supposed
to be the Duke like he doesn't want to be sidelined. He wants to be out there fighting.
Zaden's like, we're not having this argument. You're like second line for the throne, you're
going to stay back. Almost like the designated survivor kind of instance, but Zade or Bodie's

(22:52):
not happy with that at all. Violet ends up back dream walking and she realizes she can
separate herself, which at that point that's where I realized that this could possibly be
a dangerous signet. However, to question it, how was she able to do that if she's only
provided to our Darna? Not quite sure. That's where it's a little bit of a mystery to me.
Because the bonds broken at this point. Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. But okay, we'll

(23:15):
see. And then the Sage is actually surprised whenever Violet pulls out the blade and stabs
herself and then is able to wake up Zaden. And then right at the end of that, we end
up finding out from Garrick that Theo has kidnapped Mira and them are preparing for
leaving Aresha to go to where she is at. And they are kind of gathered trying to come up

(23:41):
with a plan and Brynnan just misses everybody from the room and says to Violet and Zaden
that Violet has to choose one goal and one goal only. Otherwise, more people die by her
being spread out. And he also kind of talks about how Theo would kind of make or know
that she would try to go for everything. You're going to read the quote. You're the

(24:02):
variable I'm missing and where she'll make Ryerson one too. And she says, I'm sorry.
And Zaden says, tread carefully. Violet pick one objective to win. People will die if we
only choose one. Violet says, yes, welcome to leadership. And she says, why me? And
he says, because I don't think you can. Theo knows that you'll try to save everyone like
you did in Ressen or at Dunes Temple or Bess Gaiath before mom. That's why we'll fail because

(24:25):
you will choose everyone over yourself and he will choose you over everyone.
I just love it. This book had a lot of good quotes.
Absolutely. Multiple characters, not even just from Zaden.
I don't even know if I could pick one that was like my favorite overall. Like I could
probably pick one that was my favorite for each character, but I don't think I could

(24:45):
choose one that was superior. I think there's like two or three that I would say is up there,
but I don't know if I could choose. And honestly, I think I like some of these quotes better
than the last two books like combined. Like I think there's just so many good ones that
just made me have a little chill bumps.
I know I agree. And I think they like because they've grown as characters, their quotes

(25:10):
obviously got better and like they mean more. You know, I mean, I don't know. We had like
very for example, for Dane, I even have good quotes by Dane now. And I didn't think that
was a possibility. Okay. Because I hated him. So like even Dane says fun stuff in this one,
you know, so it just it just everything gets better.
Well, and even Taryn makes a quote, they're talking about like why, you know, Theo had

(25:34):
taken Mira. And he says you are our lightning wilder. And while your life may not matter
more than other writers do, does you are the weapon and you will have to learn to accept
that the sacrifices of others in your name is if you want to win this war. And she says
a new thing I should have accepted Mira's death as a sacrifice. And Taryn says, if I

(25:55):
did, I would still be in a risha and you would be walking. So yes, I mean, even Terrence
kind of trying to make her understand like you can't save everybody, you've got to make
some sacrifices here and there. I think it's going to be extremely hard for that to ever
be her siblings. But at the same time, like, I think it's gonna be extremely hard for it

(26:18):
to be anybody for violet. I think that's kind of what we love about violet. Yeah, Zayden
is willing to sacrifice people for violet. Violet is in theory willing to sacrifice for
Zayden, but the reality is she's too kind hearted. You know what I mean? And that's
a good thing. We want her to keep some of that even through this war. You always hope

(26:38):
that you know you don't want to come out on the other end of war and just be a completely
different person. So yeah, I like that sort of, I think the statement that was it Dane
that said in Iron Flame that you know, like the second year makes you harder or something
like that. I think it was Mira. Yes, somebody made that. Yeah, somebody did. Yeah. But I
don't think it made her harder. I think it made her realize the harsher truths of reality,

(27:03):
but I don't think it made her any different than what she already was because she still
cares for everybody and tries to save everybody just like she always has. I think she finally
got a backbone. I don't know if that was year two or whatever that made her do it. She finally
got a backbone. Gosh, I think she just accepted that like what everybody else has finally been

(27:24):
telling her and you know that she she's measured up for you know, beyond what everybody else's
expectations were. We do also get a little bit of a segment where Eric is flying south
away from the conflict towards where Zaden we end up finding out is. That's what we believe.
It just says south, but we believe it's probably the same. I mean, tomatoes, but I just mean

(27:52):
like we don't know that Eric actually stopped where Zaden is. He might have continued flying
south. True. We don't know. It's implied. Implied south in the same direction. Right.
But I said the same direction, but it might not have Zaden is like here south. Eric might
have flown past him and gone somewhere else for all we know. I'm going to go with south
because I think he's the one that's really good. What if he had already stolen the dragon

(28:16):
eggs and was on his way to the aisles during this battle? I actually seen something that
somebody thinks that the irids are the ones that show or sold dragons, which kind of blows
my mind a little bit. I don't know if I believe that because they're supposed to be like a
peaceful but also they were kind of a little bit of like not so peaceful. Yeah, but also

(28:37):
like stealing dragon eggs is kind of crazy for like dragon like I feel like that is asking
for a dragon on dragon war and that's not what we need and they don't want to fight.
I don't that's crazy. Yeah, maybe like one of them, maybe like a rogue dragon, but I don't
want to think about that. That'd be wild. Maybe one of them are not happy with what

(28:59):
they got going on or maybe because a darn it and turn out as peaceful as they hope because
she was raised in Imperium. They've decided to now sell these eggs and raise them to be
peaceful and maybe because it's six dragon eggs that were stolen. I would think it'd
be one from each breed. You know what I mean? No, I agree. I just don't think the irids
took them because the irids left and Darn it like as an experiment to see if they could

(29:23):
coexist and if they had learned their lesson, they failed. And so I feel like they just
still are going to stay in their own little area and not associate. But also if they don't
want to fight even in a war against Venon, why would they go and steal six dragon eggs
to fight against the other dragons when they're not? They don't want to fight. That seems

(29:44):
crazy to me. I don't know. I've seen it and it kind of made me double take a little bit.
I was like, I mean, I could see where it could be, but at the same time I can also see where
it's more likely not. We don't know though that anybody other than Andorra showed up
for that battle. True. But that we could see. Yeah, it doesn't mean they didn't, but we
just don't know it. They end up bringing Jack up to the field where Theo is and she attempts

(30:08):
to try to kill Jack and Mrs. And they basically pack him up, try to take him away. Basically,
she implies that he knows something that she doesn't want out. And then she makes the
call my Theo does. That wasn't the deal. I said we'd let Drathis stand not let that I

(30:28):
would let your sister live. First thing to learn about us is that we're careful with
their words. And second, we also lie and she slides the blade across Mira's throat.
I thought she was done for and to be quite frank, I don't understand why Rekha didn't
kill her.
I agree. I'm a little nervous about the graphic audio though, because like her next line is

(30:51):
her screaming Mira and like all it brings me back memories of like her screaming Liam
in the graphic audio. So like, I don't know if I'm going to handle that one pretty well.
But you know, Mira doesn't die. So I know, but just like that pain, like whoever does
her voice just fantastic at it in that graphic audio of just like you could hear the pain

(31:12):
and like the words that she's saying and stuff. It's very sad and it's even more sad because
it's Liam, but agreed. So the excerpt of the beginning of 59 did like it a little bit.
And I'm not sure if it's like foreshadowing or what, but it says, it is not without risk
that the first dragons bonded with humans for though they clearly hold power, their

(31:33):
bonded riders made them want the one thing that they could not tolerate vulnerable. Many
dragons suffered the loss of their bonded riders in the name of self preservation.
So basically, to me that kind of screams that dragons sacrifice the riders so they lived.
So that kind of made me a little skeptical. I hadn't read anything about anything crazy,

(31:56):
but Brennan does end up showing up to save Mira and Dayton, Garrick, Bode, they all kind
of them as Brennan's trying to save Mira and Taryn warns that he's nearing the limit of
his power. And as he does, we end up getting where Sloan swoops in with Dane right behind

(32:16):
her. And first she comes because she says, Eric told her that she needed to give her
a parcel, which kind of moot point. But I also think he meaning Eric since Sloan because
of the next scene. Why is it a moot point? Because I think he knew what was going to
happen in that scene and what the package used for. Yeah, the package in the moment,

(32:39):
we didn't know he was pre-cog. So we were kind of like, okay, why is he having Sloan
flying to battle with a package like a male can wage like, it was a little bit of a strange
way to like do any of it. Like, why didn't he just like slip her the blade before they
left or something? You know what I mean? Like, but I think it was with the purpose now knowing
that like Sloan is the one delivered it. I think probably what it is. But basically,

(33:03):
Violet starts begging Sloan to siphon power and Dane tells her to try and take the power
from him and move it over to Brennan. And he says, you know, it's too dangerous to use
your own power if you haven't been trained. So take mine. I'm the only one here who doesn't
have to wheel today. So just try. And he kind of instructs her through it. And she basically

(33:27):
says that she just doesn't want to do because she stares at the gray handprint that Scarce
has forearm. And she says, I don't want to do that become that. And he says, you won't,
you can hate me later, but trust me now or she dies. And as she touches him, she does
make the comment that someone like you shouldn't have this much power. Yes, a little fishy
to me because I'm thinking, does he have a second signal we don't know about? Like what

(33:49):
makes him so powerful because up to this point, we haven't really.
Oh, I don't think that I think that part of it obviously is because like, we're still
not enemies face for them. Like she wants to hate him because of who he is and whatever
he known as dad. But also, I think just like we haven't really seen how powerful he is.
And I think that's hinting that he's going to come back and be powerful. And I think

(34:11):
that builds us up to like your idea that we both agree, a, he no longer has to touch people
to take their memories, but also be that maybe he can retrieve memories that have been taken
or whatever to. So I think that kind of builds up for that as what I'm guessing. But the
fact.
Look, let me just let you keep reading because the next part of the scene is I'm telling

(34:32):
you, I eat my words. Okay, I mean them.
Well, so she reaches one hand up to the back of Brennan's neck and the other one is on
Dane's wrist. It starts siphoning and Dane says eyes here and Sloan looks his way and
he says, pull from the excess you feel in me and push in the deficit of him. You're
not a weapon of destruction. You're not been in your the artery power chooses to flow

(34:55):
through your life. And she says, I'm going to hurt you. And Dane says, God's don't I
know it, but you're not going to kill me no matter how badly you want to now do it. And
Brennan ends up saving her. However, as he is walking away and saving or like leaving
with Mira, she does not take that there is no hand prints on Dane's wrist or Brennan's

(35:23):
neck. So that's a little fishy.
Okay, but let me ask you this. Why do you think that's fishy? Because the hand print
on Dane is from a vending, not from a siphon.
Well, I think it's kind of fishy just because it's been pointed out. Like I don't feel
like I know, I mean, obviously it was noted on purpose, but I just mean, I don't, I don't
actually understand why there would have been a hand print because she's not been in.

(35:50):
I'm not sure. I just feel like it's been pointed out for some particular reason.
Well, so here's what I think is different. I think when vending draw from people or the
earth, whatever, they draw like the very essence of the life as well. Like it's not really
just the power. It drains it completely to where it kills it, right? And so I think with
her like siphoning, she only siphons the power, not the life source, which is why I didn't

(36:14):
harm either of them for her to transfer it. Now, the room thing is interesting for Brennan
because Naomi was also a siphon. So that's interesting. And I do think Naomi is probably
still alive and vending and Sloan is his opposite and equal or whatever. But I don't understand
why in this scenario there would have been a hand print or a room because no one became

(36:37):
vending.
I just think it's a little weird because she even says there's no mark at the back of
his neck like he carries on his palm. There hasn't been one on Dane's wrist either. So
I don't know. My only thought is that the mark on the back of Brennan's palm that she
notates was from Neolan. So my thought is maybe that's to indicate that she's a different

(37:01):
type of siphon or she's siphoning differently, or maybe that's to indicate back to our theory
about Neolan being vending. And maybe that's why there was a mark is because he was draining
instead of pushing.
I'm wondering if, okay, two ideas. I'm thinking that yes, it's different because she's not

(37:24):
vending and she doesn't pull like the actual life force. It just pulls the power from one
to the other. So it doesn't harm either of the people. I'm thinking that that's important
because we're going to find out maybe that she can drain vending and then that's how
they get cured. Maybe that's like step one to weaken them is using her. But also, I think
there's a possibility and this just occurred to me that maybe Neolan did drain from the

(37:49):
earth to push power into Brennan. So Brennan's powers because he's a mender can mend himself
really because Neolan wasn't the mender, so he didn't mend. But and when he did that, his
like last act of love or whatever was to put a rune on Brennan, that's some sort of protection
rune or tracking. I don't really know what but like that's my theory. I think that's

(38:11):
why it's different though is because I don't think her siphon powers actually drain the
life. Now, when you drain them completely like she did with Violet's mom to the bottom
and you keep going, that might be a little different. But that's not what she was doing
with Dane and Brennan. But I don't know. Yeah, I think so I kind of have a theory of the
room and I think that there's a lot of unknown with the runes. I think it's a possibility

(38:38):
that there's runes that we are not privy to or that some people have maybe created almost
kind of like in Harry Potter where Snape has created additional spells in the Half-Blood
Princess book that you know hasn't been around. So I think that there's a possibility. Okay,
we're always sniffing in Harry Potter. Okay. I've referenced several other things, thank

(39:00):
you. Harry Potter and Marvel. Twilight. I actually referenced Twilight. Well, I felt
like we got Twilight at some point. I'm thinking that that rune may be like blocking something,
particularly maybe Vinnan because I have seen where somebody is saying that there is a quote

(39:22):
in Iron Flame. I have not gone back to look for it, but where Brennan is referenced with
amber colored eyes, just the same as Zaden. So I think it is a possibility that he may
have turned Vinnan or something at some point. But I just kind of thought of this as we're

(39:43):
talking about first. And I just blew my mind. I love when you do that and you're like, the
wheels are turning. It did. It just turned. What if the reason why he has that mark on
his hand is not because Neolan was putting power into him, but what if Brennan was pulling

(40:04):
from Neolan to mend himself? So then you're saying that's how he became Vinnan? Yeah.
Was Neolan pulled from the ground, but Brennan pulled from Neolan? Why wouldn't he just pull
from the ground though so that Neolan was fine? The excerpt of the first of the chapter,
which does not make sense because nothing of this happens. And usually all these excerpts

(40:28):
have something that happens before, after, during whatever. And it says that many dragons
suffered the loss of their bonded riders in the name of self-preservation. So what if,
hypothetically, it's not talking about the dragons suffering the loss of their bonded
riders, like for self-preservation, but Brennan was. Brennan's still bonded. But I mean, like,

(40:56):
what if he's self-preserved by draining the hypothetical love because we don't know for
sure he was in love with Neolan, but we pretty much do know. We were talking about in this
one, it even hints again at him talking about his first love and it was a person older than
him. But I don't know. There's so much around Neolan that we don't know. I thought we were
going to find something out this book. Well, and there's guesses that Neolan sacrificed

(41:20):
himself to save Brennan. But what if that's Brennan's version of the story? What if Brennan's
the one that drained Neolan? And that's why he has a rune is to lock the Venninhood in.
Well, then Neolan would be dead. Exactly. But can you siphon a siphon? I feel like it

(41:40):
would make sense that a siphon would be immune to being siphoned.
Either that or the perfect, the perfect source to draw off of.
Yeah, because I guess he could have, Neolan could have felt himself being drained, but
Brennan wasn't all the way mended yet. And so then he might have pulled more from the

(42:04):
ground for Brennan to pull from him. Although that gets real technical, then I feel like
we get, but I don't know, maybe. Neolan's Vennin already has anything to do with
Vennin. He killed him and that's it. Yeah. Because the rune is fishy. His amber color
eyes are fishy. I mean, how has he managed though to not become full Vennin? I think

(42:26):
it has something to do with that rune that's pointed out. But how would he know anything
about the rune? Like, are you thinking that he got the rune like after being in Orisha
for a while or do you think he got the rune immediately? I mean, to be honest, we don't
know much about his history between the incident and when he comes back at the end of, I thought

(42:49):
they, forethwing. I thought we knew that he went right to Orisha after it happened. Maybe
not. I thought we knew that. It's fascinating stuff. Yeah, I look literally anything to be
possible, especially with Neolan and Vennin because we know next to nothing. You're right.

(43:10):
So I, it's crazy. But I just find it fishy. We don't know very much about Vennin. Like,
I feel like we know so much more about Mira than we do Vennin and I feel like behind Mira,
like we're together like at the place that's been separated. I think we get more of him
in this next book. If your brother's dead for like a bunch of years, why would you not

(43:32):
just be like spending hours trying to figure out what happened to him and what's been going
on? Except I think Satan does know. I don't know. But he's been a best guy. If so, he
hasn't been with Brendan every day. No, but just the like last two years, the first couple
of years that Brendan was there, he was there. But just like Pancheck and others, they said

(43:56):
that once they reach a certain level, you don't know who they were, who they are or
what they are. I don't think Pancheck was Vennin yet. I think he was working with them.
But I don't think he had turned yet because he was still bonded to his dragon and he kills
the dragon, which then kills Pancheck and theory, I guess.
I guess you're right. I don't know. Just something's weird with Brendan. I don't know.

(44:16):
I agree. I agree. And he's got an orange dragon and that's turned out not to be a good thing.
So there's there's something there. I thought we were going to get answers in this book.
We didn't. Hopefully we'll get him in book four, which is going to be in two years by
that time. We might have forgotten that Brendan was even suspicious. Who knows?
I don't know. No. I'll tell you what I will have forgotten. How many times I said I hate
Dane because I don't hate him no more. There is a point where she does look at the package.

(44:43):
This is a dress to Eric and it bears the unbroken seal of Dune. Brendan does give her a little
bit of a pep talk and says stick to the plan violet no matter what goes wrong. We're counting
on you. And then he looks to Zaden says that applies to you too. Obviously I'm flying. Don't
turn vending. But also wouldn't wouldn't Zaden be able to sense Brendan is vending. But that's

(45:03):
what I'm saying is if he's at a certain level, they said that they could be walking around
and you never know who they are. But you can see it. Unless that runes blocking it. I don't
know that I think he's that smart. But maybe don't know what he's been up to enough to
be able to say one way or another. That's right. He might be. I don't know. But anyway,

(45:24):
Zaden tells violet that he's leaving and he says use only Terrence power do not turn do
not die accomplish your mission and I will find you after and she violates a reply and
come back to me and he says only ever you and then he turns and looks at Bodian says
stay with her but remember your promise and roadie responds with I don't want your fucking

(45:45):
promise and as a says noted. But that's the last time that violet and Zaden speak to each
other that we know of missing. We're missing 12 hours. And they had to have said I do.
So they realize that there's an issue with Mears Dragon. He's not waking. So they realize

(46:06):
that Terrence the only one that's strong enough to be able to get her out of there or him
out of there. And so as they're waiting for Terrence to return Theo of course shows up
and I love that you call her Theo. Yeah, it's just too complicated for the rest. Her name
is Stephanie. I don't care what anybody says. It's spelled like Stephanie but has a T H and

(46:30):
E O it is Stephanie. I literally when I was reading it I called her Theo Fanny. And so
that's why I keep calling her Theo because I'm afraid I'm gonna go Theo. Theo Fanny.
I've seen all kinds of pronunciation. My favorite was me at the thermo. That's hilarious. Yes.

(46:51):
We call to cars or whatever Uncle T so we can't call her T because it messes it up.
So I was like it's Stephanie and that's the final. That's what I've got. That's it's in
my head. If you keep asking me I'm just gonna call her Stephanie. Like that's all I got.
I cannot change it at this point. But as her you know she shows up and she makes the comment

(47:12):
are you ready to tip the balance violet and violet responds in her head thinking having
two lightning wielders on any side wouldn't just tip the balance it would destroy it the
same as shadows. We then learned she's not actually a lightning
wielder. Yeah so she's actually a storm wielder like her mom which is apparently her mom's
counter which then leads me to the question who's her lightning wielder counter and who's

(47:36):
Theo's storm counter. Well her mom was. Yeah I know but now that she's not alive we've
seen that like when Zayden turns he gets a counter so is there only one counter per
person. Well that's kind of something I wanted to explore
too because Bethany is years and years old right and she says that and obviously Violet's

(47:58):
mom is not. So like do we know how long it takes for an opposite to show up. Is it only
in war times and it happens quickly like that. Like I need a little bit more information
about these opposites. Well in my thought process is like when one
dies another one appears kind of thing on one like if the other the opposite still exists

(48:22):
as far as a venom I feel like there would be another one that pop up in its place.
What took a minute for because I don't even know his name. Yeah to manifest shadows.
So I don't know. And did they like does the universe somehow know that Mama Sorengell
was going to die. And so they gave that to Violet so that Violet was sort of the opposite

(48:45):
of Bethany. Well I wonder because you know she says
in previous books that she finds comfort in the storms and stuff like that. So I wonder
if her signet could eventually grow to be. Honestly I think her signet could grow to
be anything because it says it's literally pure power and lightning is just how it manifests.
We keep saying that though and then all she does is lightning so I get I'm like is it going

(49:09):
to stay that way. No she's lightning in multiple streaks though
in this one. Oh I know. I do have to say they're not great
aim when she has more than one strike. She did seven out of ten.
It was like five out of six or something. I will say though it's it's interesting that
it even like has to come from the sky. I guess I don't understand why it doesn't just shoot

(49:30):
out of her hands. I think I'm saying I think that's like comes back to my theory about
like the power comes from the air. But that's and Darnas side not Taren side.
But Taren and Adarna were able to both speak to her on the islands. So I think they're
all intermingled somehow. OK but I'm confused because I thought the

(49:52):
irides power comes from the sky whereas other dragons come from the ground. But that was
a theory. But because they're all three bonded maybe
Taren can draw from Adarna. They're in some kind of triangle connection.
So I feel like it makes sense. They draw from each other in some ways.
I mean she was able to strike lightning when there was no magic on that island.

(50:15):
She so doesn't think she did that. Although I disagree.
She did that. I mean she was able to do that. So somehow
she was able to still have enough power to be able to draw if that was her.
Or maybe because she's pure power it's just she can pull from everywhere.
I don't know. I mean at this point literally anything is possible.

(50:42):
That's not a problem. I kind of wish we did get answers to quite a bit of stuff that we
had from Forthwing and Ironflame. But we also like got just like little bitty details
and certain stuff. That was it. No explanation. No nothing.
And now we got to wait two years. Two years Rebecca to find it out.

(51:06):
So like any theory we come up with for irids there's no way to even like really back it
up. We can say oh yeah well what he said right
there made that. I don't know. I really would like her to like every
six months just release like maybe like one to three chapters so that way I at least get
my fix in the time period. Good luck with that.

(51:27):
Or maybe a novella. Novela would be nice. Something would be nice but I then told you
I'm not reading novella that has Riddick's point of view of his own death.
Well I mean they were not saying that that's the case.
I'm telling you what if it's Liam though. Oh no no no no.

(51:50):
So sweet though. No I would love to get his point of view
not that of him dying but I saw somebody the other day.
I'm a cross think about it. Can you imagine that scene from Liam's point of view and it's
him and day saying for Taren and Violet.
Really as they're going to sacrifice himself. I was like okay so you hate me it's like a

(52:17):
random Thursday afternoon I shouldn't be seeing this.
No I was like no no no I don't want to imagine that. Thank you have a nice day.
So Bodie we also get where he gets kind of taunted by Theo and you know he says tell

(52:38):
me do you not grow tired of being the less powerful version of your cousin and Bodie
says I'm not the one out here trying to prove myself and he basically like turns her down
and says hey you're not going to mess with my head like.
He basically laughs in her face. Yeah and he's like you know I'm doing
always wanted protecting my cousin protecting my province and then Thefany points out and

(53:00):
a weapon like you will only submit to someone stronger so come let's get this farce over
with so you can begin your real journey he's waiting and she's looking at Violet when she
says that and I don't know like how is that convincing because you're basically saying
hey you will only submit to someone stronger than you so come on over to our side like

(53:21):
why would she want to submit to someone stronger than her.
Exactly if there's no one stronger than her on her side why wouldn't she be in charge.
Yeah.
Why would she want to be underneath somebody else. Yeah. Especially when we literally spent
these entire three books building her up so she understands she is that bitch.

(53:42):
My thing is though that she says is you know when she Violet guesses Berwin is the person
she's waiting for she says as if I would answer to that full not so at least me to believe
there's a higher. Absolutely. Oh. Oh. Hardly. They're like it was almost like Berwin and
Stephanie were like competing to see who could get Zaden or Violet to Cape first. Yes. Like

(54:03):
sibling antics with like somebody like a mom or dad figure. It was weird but now she's
dead so that's an L. Wait a minute though because we know she killed her or we think
she killed her because she used doons dagger but Zaden says in his point of view that they

(54:27):
can't die. So what if that's not really dead. I think she is and the other thing is because
there she used something that wasn't that dagger. I think because I mean Zaden makes
the comment that he couldn't kill Berwin Berwin with a doubt your. So I think that are certain

(54:51):
people a certain level because that. Well no he didn't have a doon touched dagger to
kill Berwin. So I think that's probably what sets it apart but I just find it interesting
that literally right before that scene he says in his point of view that I couldn't
kill him. No his point of view is a couple chapters from this point. I'm talking about

(55:18):
the scene where she actually stabs her with the dagger to kill her. His point of view
is right before that when he says spread out the darkness that goes to her point of view
where she kills her in his point of view right before the scene she kills him. He says the
sages can't be killed. Well he says I can't kill him. I could no more raise a blade to

(55:39):
his throat than I could Violet. So they can't be killed by people that have turned for them.
That's what I'm thinking. I think it's like we were talking about the other night like
a Klaus you know. A sire line kind of thing. I wouldn't kill a Klaus either. Well that's
four references now. I do wonder though because at the end of that chapter Violet says you

(56:05):
know or Theftofenny is talking and she said the horde is hungry. How many innocents climbed
the past a thousand two. You can still save them reach for it. Take the power at your
fingertips and then she says so stubborn it must be killing you realizing you don't have
every answer aren't the solution to every problem. You're just another lightning wielder
mortally and capable of being everywhere at once. Go ahead and it will be entertaining

(56:28):
to watch you try and Violet says you're right. I can't be everywhere. I don't have to be.
When push comes to shove I'm not the best of us. She is. And it goes to Riannan. So is
that who she's referring to. Yeah. Okay. I think she means so like to me that sets it

(56:50):
up for showing like Riannan's leadership because we get a very in Riannan's point of view what
it talks about is how much she wants to go say Violet. But she's adamant and knows I
cannot do that. I cannot be distracted. I have to stay here and stay focused on the plan
which is something that Zaden and Violet cannot do. They cannot stay focused. They cannot

(57:11):
separate themselves from their emotions. So I think like that's really what it's highlighting.
And I think we're setting up Riannan to lead them into battle. I don't know maybe not. But
no I'm pretty sure that's who she's referring to as Riannan because then it cuts to her
point of view. Okay. I was. Who else would you think.

(57:32):
I was thinking that but then like Mira. I don't know. Sloan. I was kind of leaning towards
more Adana. Oh well that's when it cuts back to Violet's point of view. Adana shows up
but I don't think she knew Adana was there after rereading it a little bit later. I don't
think she knew Adana was there. So it would probably make more sense Riannan. Yes. But

(57:52):
also I mean I think she does feel that way about and Darna but like in this context I
think she means Riannan. Because they're talking about saving those lives saving the lives of
the people. I think that's what she's saying is like I can't separate my emotions but she
can and she's got them. I don't want to say disappointing that's probably not the right
word but I was a little sad that we didn't get more of Riannan in this book.

(58:18):
Yeah. Saw your Riannan, DeCena. Like I feel like all of them were very insignificant than
what they had been in the past for sure. And like Riddick does this big speech about like
not keeping secrets from those particular people and like let them have your back and
I guess maybe book four will be her and her people maybe. This one was a lot about Zaden
and his people. Yeah. It just felt weird. I was like we're not even going to like send

(58:40):
letters to each other or something. Yeah. And it does show she sends a letter and says
like I wish you were here. That was it. That's all it was. To me the biggest problem I had
with a friendship group I guess out of this was that they were so expressive about Saw
your getting back on the dragon, riding the dragon like all that kind of stuff for the
basically the first half book and then he did it and then everybody was like OK moving

(59:03):
on. Yeah. And then we get one little reference him in the battle and that's it. It was strange.
I agree. But we do get Riannan's point of view like you said and we kind of get where
Riannan's kind of doubting herself and her decision making that she's gone and she keeps
kind of like changing her mind and her dragons like make up your mind like you're going to
cost us. I will say too. I know and you really enjoyed this Riannan and Imogen's getting

(59:27):
the point of view of other riders with their dragons and getting to see the different personalities
and relationships and stuff to that. That was a really cool part of this book. Yeah.
Because I mean Seagal and Taran are pretty similar. They're both grumpy. Yeah. And Violet
and Zaden's responses to Seagal seem to be very similar as well. So I felt like we were
getting basically the same dragon rider point of views where with Riddick Riannan Imogen

(59:52):
it all seemed like completely different. And even like was it Trigger that scratched the
underneath of his griffins once they get their bond back. Yeah. So even then like you know
there was a little bit of a chuckle and a laugh kind of situation. So we kind of got
a little bit different relationship than what we normally have gotten from the different
dragons. And I mean even Violet and Adarna's is a little bit different but she's still
like a grumpy sunshine kind of dragon. So I agree. But she does end up saying you know

(01:00:17):
I need to reign everyone in with a quickness and is it Fierge Fierge her dragon. I got
to be honest with you. So I saw something that made me laugh out loud and it was like
like the dragon's names and then like how I pronounce them and Fierge as I guess is
how you pronounce it. I don't know in my head and the same thing that's tick tock or said

(01:00:38):
I pronounce it Fergie. I am not going to do or like Fergie maybe but like it's not Fierge
and I died laughing. I was like oh I'm not going. Someone else is very I've been calling
your furgy. Yeah. So I don't know. I just I breeze past that and keep going. That's
like how do you pronounce Riddick's dragon. Atrium. Yeah. I did pronounce his atrium.

(01:01:04):
I'm not if that's right or not but that's how I pronounce it. One of this like C H R A
R G H I think it is. I pronounce that one as charge. How is it spelled. It's I think
it's like C H A R G H or something. I can't remember who's dragon it is. Panchex. Maybe
or Milgram. I thought there was a D in that name. No they're not D in that name. Me.

(01:01:29):
I just pronounce it charge so I don't remember the actual spelling. Is it in the back of
the book on the list. I don't have that addition. The has that the target one additions the
one that has it in the back. What they should all have that there's Thornt which is a Mulvic.
Oh no C H R A D H and it's Gary's dragon. Oh OK. I call him Kodak. I don't know if that's

(01:02:00):
right Kodak is hang on. There is another one. Mel Green's is spelled C O D A G H. I call
him Kodak. Garrett's C H R I think I call him Chad to be quite. No so that one is charged
the one that you just read off Mel Grins and then I called Gary Chadwreck. Tread. I don't

(01:02:26):
cure is Bodie's. Cruce is Quinn's. That was easy. Glam Glam is Caroline's which I think
she did by now. Cath is Danes. That's how do you pronounce Sawyer's S S L I S E A G.
I think I pronounce it slug if I don't know that I've actually ever tried to pronounce

(01:02:46):
it to be honest. I think I just read past it. I think fear gay or Fergie is definitely
and then mirrors is teen T E I N E teen. I don't know if that's right or not but it's
Sloane's T H O I R T. Let's see who else. There's Eric's has got an M. I think it's

(01:03:09):
like Movic. M O L V I C. O R O R O R O S was D A G O L H. It was Dag. I didn't even try
to send that one. I don't even know who Felix is. Oh how do you. The guy that trains her
to use the condo caps Griffin is K I R A L A I R. I call her Kira layer. I don't know

(01:03:35):
but no I definitely don't pronounce them correctly and to be honest no offense to Rebecca but
I've seen videos saying neither does she so I just kind of roll with whatever it says
in my head and I just go with what it is. I don't speak Gaelic or Gaelic because I
don't know which one it is in this book but there's two different kinds so I don't speak
Gaelic either. So I apologize that I'm butchering the names. Yeah honestly you're lucky I can

(01:03:58):
pronounce Karen and knock and Darn in a Euro so. And I'm not even sure and Darn in Tarn
that's all I got and Seagale I'm pretty sure I know I say Seagale wrong. I know I do that's
okay. So we do get the quote that actually we were not sure the context in which it had
but they talk about there's only 17 either Wyverns or Griffins or whatever against three

(01:04:22):
dragons and Rihanna says that's a little menacing and Fierce Fergie says then let us be menaces
ready to relay your orders and she says my orders no pressures we need to intercept.
So we did not know that quote was going to come from them. Yes she's giving orders and
as they are fighting and everything she looks over and sees Riddick and he rolls putting

(01:04:48):
his spine against the creature and Riddick takes one hand and puts it on the scales of
the Wyvern instantly the Wyvern shrieks and a paler shade of gray spreads along at scales
emanating from Riddick's hands and the beast tenses and then ceases to beat its wings
and falls directly towards us and it says I turned in the seat to watch the Wyvern impact

(01:05:11):
the rocky terrain holy shit I think it just cracked in half so he literally just like
froze this Wyvern from the inside out which is honestly badass like it is I'm thinking
like where has this been all this time Riddick which I mean I there is a quote that Riddick
says at some point that I know I didn't read off but he says something along the lines

(01:05:33):
of you guys think that my humor overrides my abilities as a rider and I mean he really
like proved himself tenfold and in this one for sure so I wholeheartedly agree so my thought
is did he ask to go on quest squad because he knew he was getting better with his signet
and he thought he could protect her better he makes the comment that it was kind of like

(01:05:56):
a moment of fear for like PTSD almost for him where he makes the comment that every time
Violet's been alone without one of the squad something's happened to her so like somebody
has to be with her and he's the most logical choice because Sawyer's in bed, Ysina can't
leave and describe and re-enance the squad leader.
Yeah that makes sense.
Okay.

(01:06:16):
So we get in back into Violet's point of view and there's a quote at the top that says
there is no goddess more wrathful than Dune entering her temple will slice the soul from
any attendant who has shunned her grace which of course we realize is relaying back to Thefany.
Right.
And she says, you know, do you like that she says, you know, do you not want to have forever

(01:06:37):
with him and Violet says I already do and she says not in the way you want we're excellent
actors but our kind doesn't feel what you call love and she says, you know, you're lying
and she says, ah, there it is battles are lost by our weakest warriors and that's what
he makes you weak now that I know where you're vulnerable we can begin and my question is
what's her problem dog like what is her problem?

(01:07:01):
Is not something they can feel after a certain point in time.
Is it after a certain point in time?
We talked about this before.
I'm wondering if like the reason you turn is like the only emotion or the most significant
emotion for you and most people turn for power, you know, greed stays like your heightened
emotion or whatever.

(01:07:21):
Okay.
And so maybe love is at the bottom because you turn for greed but because they turn for
love maybe he is capable of still having that emotion.
Yeah that makes sense.
Just my I think yeah that makes a lot of sense though but it also could be true about the
love not being a thing because some people suspect that his soul is in her stone on her

(01:07:43):
ring so I mean that's a possibility as well.
Thanks a question.
Do you have to have a soul in order to be able to love?
That's deep.
I'm just thinking like vampires don't have souls.
I don't know.
And like technically in that case you could literally write it however you want it to

(01:08:04):
be.
They don't have to if you don't want them to.
That's true but the vast majority you know they say like when you die your soul leaves
your body however you die.
Does it matter if he has a soul?
If she has a soul are we going to see like true villain Zayden in the next book to where
even like she has to fight him?

(01:08:25):
So I've seen a TikTok that said that the reason why he called it violence in the previous
books was so that way he could remind her who she is but he calls her love in this one
so he can remind himself who he is and it just it broke me a little bit.
I was like oh yeah that's a bit sad.
He holds on to whenever she says I love you down the bond like he's like oh wait no and

(01:08:47):
it almost like navigates him from power over to the love.
So it's your theory is possible.
He does he says he holds on to a sliver he buried that deep in that foot and then it
says at the end when it says it's yours a lot of people are theorizing that he means
that last piece of his soul is in her ring because he refers to Aresha and Tyrandor as

(01:09:09):
she throughout the entire book and so it is what he uses for this instance and so they
think it's his soul but if she has his soul or the last part of his soul is he truly right
now with that without him having that part of his soul is he evil and if he's evil then
how are they often some like master plan to save the world?

(01:09:32):
I guess I'm saying like it's a little confusing to me how those two are going to match up
and begs the question do you have to have a soul to love?
Does it matter what you turn for?
Does that impact what you lose?
You know a lot of questions that we still have answers for and we got to wait two years.
So we do go I want to go through where people are because we've been having this debate

(01:09:56):
pretty much this entire episode where people are who it could have been etc.
So she says that quickly recovering under Brennan's care at the top of the past is Mira
Mira her dragon and Brennan and his dragon.
So they're at the top of the past they can distance willed so we know they're out of

(01:10:16):
the Shabam.
They talk about Bodie.
Wretching.
Well before that I spot clean and calf high above the line of griffons on the northern
wall where Kerr flies low in formation all picking off Wyvern trying to dart by the city
on their way to the valley below and she ends up questioning isn't Bodie supposed to be and

(01:10:39):
Taryn says we all make her own decisions so we know he's flying around the valley below
with re and the rest of the squad as who she refers to next will stop them before they
get to the past.
So I think that reference about the we all make our own decisions.
I think that's because they told him to stay out of the fight if it came down to it because

(01:11:00):
he's the backup plan.
Yeah and he went against that order and he is fighting.
I don't think it's like that he's going to turn Ben in.
I think that's referencing because he denied.
Yeah.
Because she says afterwards Zaden's going to be pissed and then we get where she talks
about wing beat sound behind us and I pivot in the saddle hope searches at the side of
blue wings and then she says what the hell is he doing and Mulvic is there and he says

(01:11:26):
the spare brings the advance party from Zei Helna.
Yes.
A thousand soldiers in their horses.
They landed at the port of Soudra by accident and so cordon and will be here in less than
half an hour.
Which is why I didn't think when they were saying he was going south.
I didn't think they meant necessarily going to Zaden.
I thought they meant going to get these people.

(01:11:46):
Yeah.
So we get Glean and Kerr are down in the city because they said Kerr disappears into the
fray above the city.
My breath shutters and Violet tries to turn towards him and Terrence is one objective
decide our fate and she says fly towards Theo.

(01:12:08):
But then we cut to Imogen's chapter and Dane is at the tower with her because she talks
about Ados needs to hide behind her and we learn we do learn her second signet is what
I believe to be earth wielding.
I do like whenever Ados jumps to his feet though after she does the rock wall and he

(01:12:29):
says I'll take that one you get into the tower and we're going to talk about whatever
the fuck that was was later.
Yeah.
I saw someone that said you know Dane's just making a list of what's got to ask about later
off.
They end up going into the tower and she runs into Quinn who has been stabbed by a venin's
blade and it was just so sad.

(01:12:55):
I did cry a little bit whenever she makes the comment you know we made it a good one
and it flashbacks to whenever Quinn first meets Imogen on conscription day and she says
hi I'm Quinn Hollis and I've decided we should be friends and Imogen responds you do realize
we're about to cross the walkway of death and Quinn says well then it might be a short

(01:13:16):
friendship but we'll make it a good one and it was so terribly sad like I was just like
oh my heart breaks especially because Imogen is such a hard person and so we've never seen
much emotion from her at all this entire time and somebody who she didn't even want to be
friends with basically she ends up crying for but Garryc ends up coming to her, ends

(01:13:38):
up finding out what's going on and he's like we've got to get out of here we've got to
move so.
I actually didn't this is shocking but I actually didn't cry over Quinn's death I think I was
like so.
Is it really syrup?
It was sad.
Okay.
But I think like I was so emotionally drained already from like thinking Taryn was going

(01:14:01):
to die and then thinking Garryc and then Riddick right after and then Mira.
Yeah.
But I was like so much whiplash and I was just like oh somebody finally died.
Like it was just like it was a really sweet scene and I did feel really bad for Imogen
and then like Quinn tells her like dude like everyone knows you love him even him I think

(01:14:22):
like go be happy and then who shows up Garryc and so like also the idea that like Garryc
was looking for her I would have loved to have his point of view from that part of the
scene and he's like listen to me we'll bring her but we've got to go and she's like I'm
not leaving her and he said I'm not leaving you you know like that like tension that I
really thought we were going to get more of them in this book and we didn't either but

(01:14:44):
whatever.
So that part of the scene was like really bittersweet and like it was sad don't get me wrong but
I surprisingly did not cry and I cried over everything so like I was shocked I was just
right when I thought Garryc and Riddick were dead though and that one.
I thought it was going to be Quinn that you were going to cry the most out I'm not going
to lie.

(01:15:04):
I know but I guess because she's kind of been like a background character the whole time
so I just didn't have that emotional tie to her and I think I was so prepared for like
a significant character to die that then when it was just Quinn I was low key relieved that
sounds really bad.
I'm sorry Quinn but I think I just sort of like I was so prepared for someone else big

(01:15:25):
to die that I had that emotional connection with that Quinn was just kind of like oh okay
but I'll be honest I didn't think she was going to be the last death.
Yeah so that shocked me too.
Garryc does arrive he basically says like I can't walk again he says even if I make it
to Aresha I'd never be strong enough to get back so I better find some fucking way to

(01:15:45):
do something.
So I think that's where people are getting the comment that he must have turned Vennan
is because he basically makes that comment.
But it also to me makes more sense than it's Eric.
Yeah they talk about the truth sails through the sky and takes a wavering straight to the
ground Bodhi is on his hands and knees across the town square retching which honestly is
kind of a little fishy because like what is he throwing up for.

(01:16:09):
No I agree like what is that.
I don't think I've ever seen anybody in this entire book throw up.
No so I was the poison people I guess maybe he was poisoned.
Possibly I mean later on we assume he's one missing but she does end up saying to Garryc
tell every writer within the walls to get over here and disarm it's the only way we're
living through this and then she notes outside the sky darkens further.

(01:16:34):
Sore and go better take their leader all the way the fuck out or this will have all been
for nothing.
OK see so right there people are saying that that is referencing Zaden shadows but I don't
think so I think it's referencing the storm wielder in the sky.
So that's why I don't think that scene takes place at the exact same time that Zaden takes

(01:16:55):
place.
I think it's Stephanie doing her thing before Violet kills her.
I think it's all happening at the same time and just so different perspectives.
I don't think so because the shadows would not she would be able to see anything.
I think it's like back to back to back the way that it's read.

(01:17:16):
I don't think it's happening simultaneously.
We're getting different point of views because the shadows look different in the storm.
Who's Cruz writer.
Dane at least Rihanna's chapter is happening at the same time as Violet's last chapter
because it says here and flow over the clouds to cover cover moments carrying Tien and chains

(01:17:36):
and escorted by Mar Mar ball.
And last status report from Kath had both Ryerson and Durin spotted near the city walls.
Who's Durin.
Proof is Quinn's dragon.
OK.
Durin.
I don't know who Durin is.

(01:17:58):
So do you are are a N.
Well I mean you can spell it honey but I still don't know who it is.
I don't see a dragon name that maybe it's a writer on this list that I'm looking at.
I don't see a writer name that either.
Oh it's Bodie's last name.

(01:18:19):
That's what it is.
Bodie.
OK.
So they're spotted near the city walls.
And Rihanna's chapter but then Bodie is throwing up.
What if he's throwing up because he witnessed Zaden.

(01:18:47):
Change.
No because wait backup.
Zaden sees Bodie throwing up with his shadows as he's projecting them.
That's how we know Bodie's throwing up.
No it's mentioned in Imogen's chapter.

(01:19:07):
It's actually the last page of her chapter.
She says then I step outside into the rain and stare houses burn wavering and griffin
bodies fly in the middle of crumpled roof line civilian scream crew sales through the
sky and takes a wavering straight to the ground Bodie is on his hands and knees across the
town square retching.
The dark wielders are draining the city walls were next.
And then Imogen says where are you going.

(01:19:28):
I shout at Garrix back and he says I can't walk again even if I made it to Risha I'd never
be strong enough to get back so I better find some fucking way to do something.
OK so there's why first of all I don't think it's Bodie that turns.
I think Bodie was incapacitated.
What if Bodie got stabbed by one of their poison daggers.
That's why he's throwing up.
My thought though is that if this is all happening at the same time.

(01:19:51):
It's not though.
But listen if it is and she's talking about the sky darkening right after he rushes.
It's because he just witnessed like he witnessed Zaden turn because they said it's very obvious
like on his face and then he like runs away and then starts throwing up because he just
realized what just happened to Zaden.

(01:20:13):
Two things.
She says the sky is darkening and that violet better handle Theftany.
It does not talk about shadows.
And the shadows are a complete blackout not a darkening sky.
Second I don't think Bodie would run away and throw up if he saw that.
If he saw the person he considered as his brother become something that they've worked

(01:20:36):
so hard to.
He already is.
He's already I mean like he was already been in it's not a new thing.
But it's like not on his face where it talks about how this one it's got like her lightning
like Seagal mentions like you've got like.
I think Bodie would rather just turn to be like her lightning.
I think Bodie would rather just turn to be with Zaden.

(01:20:58):
I don't see him from going from retching to all of a sudden standing beside the sage
and being.
No which is why it's not Bodie.
I agree.
It's not Bodie.
I don't disagree with that.
And Garrick is turning back into the tower.
Garrick is leaving the building like running back out into the fight.
So we don't know what happens to him.

(01:21:18):
We just he calls over his shoulder.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He does disappear then.
So Garrick still in the running.
Sposibility Dane.
He's disappeared at this particular point.
I think he's in the battle.
So like where Zaden is though is not right in the town.
He's off on some little like.
So I don't think Dane is the one that turns either.

(01:21:39):
And then we get in Zaden's point of view and he spots people with the shadows at this at
this particular point.
Garrick is the one that's unaccounted for Dane is unaccounted for everybody else has
been accounted for past this point.
So then there's the excerpt at the top of 64 that says a gift from one servant of doom
to another.
I must warn you only those touched by God should will the wrath.

(01:22:01):
I pray to her that she not need to use it to avoid reoccurring herself with the one
who curries her favor.
Her path is still not set.
And that's like recovered correspondence of high priestess deserve a to his royal highness
cadet Eric Grey Castle Prince of Camelion of Navarre.

(01:22:21):
So that's the letter that she wrote today or to Eric with the dagger getting the dagger.
So we also get where Segal starts almost like howling and Taryn is kind of freaking out
a little bit but they of course stay on track.
Trust that she will figure this out because they were trapped.
Yeah.

(01:22:42):
So we get the message because Violet finally opens the package and she says it's made
out to Eric and it says on the edge of the package for when you lose your strike in the
dark violet.
And then she reads the letter that he had received.
I do like that constantly there's moments where Terrence reminding her not to take more

(01:23:03):
than she's supposed to.
You know he's very protective of her in doing so because I do think it could be very easy
for her to be like well screw it the love of my life is already some might as well.
And especially in her case of wanting to save everybody.
But of course finding out that love is possibly something that goes.
I mean you may not trust that after you turn you're going to be the one that's going to

(01:23:27):
be saving them and not harming them.
They could just go like be Vin and live somewhere though.
Yeah.
Have their happy ever after.
So we do end up as she's fighting Theo.
She ends up saying shadows spreads like a ripple on a lake devouring the field in a fury of

(01:23:48):
an onyx storm sweeping towards us at the speed that squeezes the hope from my chest and then
outright shatters my heart.
The pain hits like a physical blow to the center of my chest.
He's terrifyingly powerful with Seagal but not like this.
This is the kind of force that ends worlds and it's almost here.
And she whispers down the bond I love you and she says the ice cracks but it's not enough

(01:24:11):
to halt the approaching wave of darkness.
And she says shadows throw thepony to the ground a second before it rushes over me.
A soft whisper stuff against my cheeks tossing us into a pitch black night.
And Taryn screens for her to strike and use the darkness.
And she remembers the letter that Eric wrote that said strike in the darkness.
And as like basically she's going on Theo to strike she starts backing up Theo does and

(01:24:36):
ends up running into Adana.
And I love that moment because I just imagine like pitch black and then all of a sudden
you just like poke out and see her eyes.
She ends up wielding the dagger.
I do I do have to say I miss this the first time I read it.
She says I unseath the marvel marvel dagger from her right hand and then mix my pain into
the searing power that scorches what's left of my beating heart lift my broken arm and

(01:25:00):
release the antagonizing burn of energy skyward and hold it.
The continuous strike lights up our surroundings and branches throughout the shadows revealing
Thefty's back and she makes the comment pain wraps in me and a broiling vice and fire sears
my lungs but I hold the bolt and sprint.
So she has somehow able to now hold the lightning which is kind of crazy but she does holding

(01:25:29):
it in the dagger though.
I don't know if she's holding it in the dagger like Zeus kind of like vibes or if she's actually
like holding it from the sky to the ground so that way she can light up the space to
see the way it's kind of described at first it kind of seems like she's holding it from
the sky to the ground to see because she talks about seeing Thefty's back or whatever but

(01:25:49):
whenever she talks about like holding the bolt and sprinting and then she said at the
end it does say like I release the bolt plunging us into darkness and surrendering to the fire
burning me alive so I do think that it was like a lightning strike and she like held
it to not move.
So let me ask you this two questions do you think that Violet's hair will be all silver

(01:26:13):
in the next book?
I've seen some theories.
I think it's possible because I think there is a point that yeah so Brennan his eyes bulged
when he looks me over for injury so I can see where people are like thinking now she
is.
Okay and do you think Andorna is back for good or do you think she's going to leave

(01:26:40):
again?
That was such a heavy sigh.
I think it's a possibility because she's talking to her again so I don't know if she's talking
to her as an irid but I'd say because she's like cut off from Taryn a little bit in the
final chapter that it's a possibility that she's rebonded with Adorna.
I did just read this too.
She says I guess all the pieces click into an overwhelming heartbeat.

(01:27:04):
The reinforcements telling me to guard the dunes temple yanking lynx out of the way before
the doors open to the great hall he knew and has been manifesting that entire time so he's
at least known since Lynx becoming a shadow wielder that he is but she does say he's a
fn precog a real one not like Milgrin who only foresees battle if Eric wields true cognition

(01:27:26):
he saw this and he gave me the weapon made of a fracture temple a temple Thephony can't
step inside I don't believe in oracles but I do believe in sickness so I mean the dagger
kills her and she ends up saying like stone doesn't kill Vin and she says well you never
were just been in dune is raffle got us to a high priestess who turned their backs on

(01:27:46):
her so.
So do you think then that dune doesn't kill all Vin in but specifically just her because
she used to be a priestess that statement I do believe so I don't know now if she wields
the wrath of gods well she did once doesn't mean she will repeatedly it would be super
crazy if she did and it was the wrath of one God one that she had been started to be dedicated

(01:28:11):
to not all of them but if your theory that she's been dedicated or started dedicated
to whatever to all of them then maybe although I gotta be honest what happened to Malik we
talked a lot about him and he just kind of fell off this book he's my favorite I love
a death God I love Hades I love a death God so I don't know I mean they do do they do

(01:28:35):
mention it a couple times but not near as much as what they did in the last two books
doing is definitely mentioned a heck of a lot more in this one yes agreed so we end up getting
Zayn is chapter we find out that Pancheck is actually the person that has betrayed everybody
everybody it doesn't surprise me I just didn't expect him to be the person like honestly

(01:28:56):
I expected like Ados or Melgrin or something along that lines I was I was kind of shocked
by Pancheck they probably all are working together it's possible but he does state that
problem not because he's more lethal not because he's supposed to be dead but because I can't
kill him I can no more raise a blade to his throat than I could violate the bond between

(01:29:19):
violence and me is the kind of magic that no one can explain the bond between Burwin
and me is the kind that never should exist and now that my sage has another sibling
he can use against me I'm screwed okay I gotta say this let me get this off my chest if I'm
pretty sure I might have already said in the episode but if she brings Liam back as Venon

(01:29:44):
I'm going to be mad I think just based on her interviews she's pretty much said that
Liam's like dead dead so I agree but I'm just saying that if she brings my baby back and
makes him the villain don't get me wrong I love a villain but it would just negate all
of his sacrifice and that's just not right and also then how would he have been like

(01:30:04):
a spirit or whatever in book two well my biggest question is which I do believe the spirit thing
the theory about how because she's also dedicated to Malik that he really did send Liam as a
kindness to her as she's being tortured I think that makes sense of how that was I don't think
she was like but God's capable of kindness in this book I mean one of them just gifted

(01:30:30):
her wrath but it wasn't for violet it was because she was mad at the FD she just used
violet to execute it would Malik was mad at Veresh I don't know why death God would be
mad at somebody that's sending him multiple souls I don't know I think like it didn't

(01:30:51):
change anything for him though to send him Liam like it didn't stop his interrogation
or anything so true I don't know I wonder if that's part of the dream walking though like
she can project visions maybe they would be real ones that no but it's almost like like

(01:31:12):
Quinn how she could project herself maybe that's what makes violet more dangerous is that she
could project what she wants into the world but there's didn't see Liam and that'd be
crazy but there's didn't see him maybe she learns how to do that eventually maybe I don't

(01:31:33):
know yeah no too complicated there's a lot to it my question though with Burwin though
is I don't understand how he's not able to kill him now because he's got too much of
a bond and this is before he's wielded the or drain some more to become full you know
vinnan he couldn't kill him the first time that he drained I know but he says I can no

(01:31:57):
more like raise a blade to his throat than I could violet this time so how is he not
able to do that in the first place like maybe because he's drawn more times maybe but he
does say I glance past Burwin past the Gale and the Vin into my new brother and the unconscious
dragon lying in the valley beyond the cannon guarded by seven Wyvern how could he do this

(01:32:19):
choose this after watching me stumble and fall over the last five months how can he willingly
walk away from the path I fought like hell to leave so that eliminates Dane even though
we do end up getting to see where Dane is at in this chapter I believe but I think it
eliminates Dane Sawyer Riddick Riannan easy people that are not already on Zaden side

(01:32:42):
because they did not watch him struggle for months yeah so Bodie with him rushing in the
city I don't think it's him I don't think that he's gonna go from throwing up and it
says new brother and he already references that Bodie is essentially his brother yeah
which also I think eliminates Garrick in that case because Garrick he's referred to as his

(01:33:02):
brother in is he referred to like a brother or is he referred to his actual brother I
don't remember the clause to be able to say exactly what word for word what it says okay
I think it's an iron flame at some point in one of his excerpts okay but that to me eliminates
Garrick which leads me with the theory that Eric because if Eric was pre-cog and he knew far back

(01:33:29):
you know ago that's the case because we do know that he so the time period between whenever he
did the armchair scene before the battle at the temple and then the you just wanted to bring up
the armchair again didn't you I mean angle played about it but so the armchair scene that he talks

(01:33:50):
about it's been like 70 73 days somewhere around that time period so we know that it's been at least
two and a half months at that point and it seems to me that Brennan knew about it at least
90 of those days since he's first turned but if Eric was pre-cog and it sounds like he knew several
things prior it's a possibility that Eric knew there also appears no I agree and there also

(01:34:18):
appears to be like a little bit more of a relationship than we're aware of because the scene
where Eric's going to expose himself to his brother and take his place violet says like are you sure
you want to do this but Zaden also addresses him directly and he's like you don't have to do this
like as if he cares more about him than like well he says I think at one point I think it's at

(01:34:42):
Cortland's island where he's talking he's like you know my undying loyalty to a first year at home
or another royal or something along that line and he also in several places says like watch him
protect him about Eric so I mean it's almost like he has a little bit more loyalty and like protection

(01:35:02):
over Eric than what even if that is in order to keep violet safe but yes there seems to be more
of a background it has anything to do with violet like the way he addresses it it's never in reference
to you know to satisfy violet to protect violet's friends anything having a precog that can tell you
what's gonna happen what do I need to do to keep her safe kind of thing like you know when will it

(01:35:25):
be the last straw or whatever you know like I just think but I agree I think there's some
like background conversations or whatever they've clearly had with each other that we don't have
the benefit of yeah so Zaden decides that there's no other way to free Segeal besides
drawing and Segeal gets mad and says you know do not do this to save me so he ends up turning

(01:35:49):
not for violet but for Segeal and draws the power underneath his hand which he does end up describing
it he says my soul departs like a piece of ash from a fire flaking free and drifting away as
power consumes the space it once inhibited I'm no longer on ice I am the ice and so he starts

(01:36:10):
channeling and he says he begs the last remaining pieces of him to save them he describes it as
saddle surge from the canyons over the city ending every wavering wyvern in the air and on the ground
I'm everywhere at once shredding the net that incers Segeal tearing the heart from the wyvern

(01:36:30):
who has Dane and Kath backed into a corner so we know he's not the brother rushing over image and
as she looks to the sky I'm at the past plucking wyvern off one by one listening with satisfaction
as their bodies hit the ground in front of the people she loves but that's why that's also
back to the image and thing that's why I think that that chapter is her because she talks about
looking up at the sky and it says rushing over image and as she looks to the sky so I think

(01:36:55):
that's why I think those chapters are correlated together as well maybe but violet whispers you
know that I love you and he says I grab for that thread with desperate hands clawing to keep her
as more of my pieces are blown away lost to the void she is warmth and he envelops her with the
darkness and he walks up to Segeal and says you know will you forsake me now and

(01:37:20):
berwin is unconscious at this point and he says it I'd kill him if I could and he's just fuck I
thought I had I wonder how many initiates feel the same about their their sage at least the one I
know of but beyond the physical impossibility of it he has something I need and I'm no longer an
initiate so he asked Segeal you know like you know will you forsake me and she says what is

(01:37:43):
their left for you to forsake and he says you tell me and he said I lower the ice and let her in
and her eyes widened she says you cannot mean to he said you know what happened it's the only way
she says and you think she'll help he says she loves me taren does not and you have looked in
the mirror yet the red veins branching from your eyes look like her lightning she says

(01:38:04):
and he says she'll help she promised and so we kind of get this whole back and forth and he
finally says persuade taren and she says we will ask and her decision will determine our fate and
so they fly presumably to violet and assumingly go and get married during those 12 hours violet

(01:38:29):
does in the back brennan is the first to come to both her and it looks it seems to be it's just her
and imagin and adana makes the comment I will not let them burn you which that is leading to believe
that she did steal those dragon eggs because that was a burn by fire offense so I think that's a
possibility but he does his eyes bulge and it says you know where have you been and they he asked for

(01:38:56):
a report and the soldier says official numbers are four riders they're dragons and three elders
murdered in the valley in what we're estimating in the last few hours and we still have five riders
missing for now as he looks at me his mouth tenses but after that display we all know Ryerson did this
I bet the other three are already dead so we're narrowed down from five to three that are now missing

(01:39:19):
and we know for sure one of them is garic because whenever imagin asked he does confirm that he's
missing um do you know where he is Ryerson you heard what wilson said we have dread dead dragons
and riders and missing eggs if you've seen Ryerson I need to know violet and imagin says I haven't

(01:39:39):
seen him since yesterday and she says she asked about garic and she says among the missing so we
do know that garic is missing we're presuming that the other people may be bode because she becomes
duchess queen whatever you want to refer to her as and then eric is the other presumed
missing as well the other part that I do want to mention is she reaches for taren and she says the

(01:40:07):
bond feels foggy he's asleep and darnus at responses says he needs a cycle of rest or cover
and so that is kind of question but she also says that she has reached for uh
siden she says I fling myself down the bond and there's nothing there it's gone and then she

(01:40:27):
kind of corrects herself and says or he's too far away to feel it so that's where it's a possibility
that somebody has exayed the bond between sigail and taren because why would taren be so exhausted
that he needs sleep because he's hardly ever slept this entire time and then because they

(01:40:48):
were draining at the the battle or he's just super depressed there is why in what realm would they
allow the may bond to be severed but how is how is sigail gonna stay away from taren for long enough
they'll have to figure it out they've never truly tested it that's the reality we don't actually know

(01:41:10):
how long it seems to be like the longest I think that's been said so far what if they sneak off and
them to see each other and then she goes back to satan I don't know that's a lot of secrets for
taren to keep from violet and it's not the first time no but every time prior it seems to be related

(01:41:31):
to dragon kind and this time it's related to sigail and zayden exactly that's what i'm saying the
secret to cap in the past were related to sigail and zayden I don't know I'm gonna tell you this if
she severed the mate bond and severed the mental link that zayden and violet have together I don't

(01:41:56):
want the book then they'll then be able to communicate as intimately through their brain and
have that sort of connection is one of like the best parts of their relationship yeah if we take
that away what I think they can dreamwalk together you mean she can dreamwalk to him yeah that's

(01:42:16):
boring she has to be asleep to do that she's awake more than she's asleep but if we get dream
sex still still good for me yeah I mean not gonna complain about dream sex but if you take away that
mate bond I don't understand what the point was this entire book honestly we might as well just be
dead well and we do end up finding out that there is a parchment that Brennan reads off and he says

(01:42:40):
it's an official blessing of your legal binding marriage by the head priestess of dunes temple
and she says to zayden you know like that's even a question I thought maybe it was somebody else
I thought maybe he married her off to bode or something like he's gonna pronounce him dead or
somebody else it's royal and then there's a note on the outside that she says is in zayden's

(01:43:04):
handwriting it says don't look for me it's yours now which again we talked about because it's
referred to as it's it's not meaning tear and door it's meaning something else which people are
suspecting that because of the ring that they're suspecting that that holds his soul that's why
taren's exhausted because they had to use their power to do it possibly but she does ask how long

(01:43:27):
she's been missing and Brennan says 12 hours and she looks to images says what did you do
and she says she slowly lifts her gaze to mine what you asked me to so I mean and now we got to
wait two years before the next one comes out yeah lovely

(01:43:53):
so what's your final thoughts and ratings five out of five ten out of ten it was wonderful
this was the best book of the series for me although I will say I'm a little nervous where
the next book is going to go I think we see that after each one though absolutely a lot of people
have said like it's very chaotic and it was too much going on or whatever and I don't necessarily

(01:44:14):
disagree there was a lot of chaos and there was a lot of like new names and places and stuff and
like we did go pretty quickly through it but I actually appreciated that because the last book
was to me felt like very drawn out and I didn't like that so yeah the chaos had me like I wanted
to read it like if I could read I was reading like and I that wasn't fourth wing I enjoyed a little

(01:44:37):
bit more so like my ranking of the books would be like on a storm fourth wing and then iron
flame for great I struggled with iron flame a little bit but this one I was like every time
that I could possibly read I wanted to be reading um very very much enjoyed it
I know like as far as with what you said about there's too too many names I do have to say my

(01:44:57):
biggest complaint is like she referred to them as both their first name and their last name so often
that it was hard to remember like everybody's full name and then on top of it we're talking about
dragons and cities and places and gods and so there was a lot of names there should have been a
like a content thing or whatever in every book not just I actually got a bookmark at the end of

(01:45:22):
iron flame that had the predominant characters like stuff so I definitely had to reuse that quite
a bit and I think that maybe helped me quite a lot but I do have to say like I pass over a lot of
that information so to me it wasn't that big of a deal to like pick up names I did have to reread
a couple sections a couple times to be like okay who was that what was that I didn't ever have to

(01:45:45):
google it because eventually it came to me but if it was important to the situation that was
happening I figured out who that name was and I wasn't sure it was but if it wasn't I just kind of
passed over it but I'm kind of that reader that passes over things as we know so honestly though
if I read something and it said somebody's name and I was like who is that I just kept going yeah
because if I stopped and said who is that every single time I got confused I don't know that I

(01:46:06):
would have ever finished the book yeah and to me honestly it was very fast-paced I mean I literally I
texted Carly and it was so much happened in the first 12 chapters it felt it was a whole book
by itself in just the first 12 to 15 chapters so I did that a lot as far as with that was fast-paced
because the that was my biggest complaint about Iron Flame why I could not give it a five stars is

(01:46:28):
the first half of the book was just very slow very whiny very all about Zayden and Violet
disagreeing not trusting each other secrets all the while so I really liked that honestly I only
felt like there was like one section where it kind of got a little slow and it was like maybe like 10
to 15 chapters and then it picked back up again at the last 100 chapters so it was pretty smooth

(01:46:52):
sailing the entire time I devoured it in it was probably what 16 hours maybe maybe less than that
I mean I devoured it and I even reread it almost fully by time Carly finished it the first time
so I mean it was very much and even in my second time of rereading it there was a lot of details

(01:47:13):
now that I knew what Violet's second signet was and Eric's signet was and things like that that
I was able to catch on to a little bit more I absolutely agree it was five stars 10 out of 10
the best one of the series I was very impressed honestly it kind of makes me a little upset
that Violet or I feel Rebecca did listen to her readers and kind of their complaints in
forthcoming an iron flame and gave them what they asked for and then they're mad about it and don't

(01:47:37):
like it I mean it just to me it was it was it was kind of you know don't complain about something
and then you know once you get it you don't you still want to complain about it you're just trying
to find something to complain about at that point but I do feel so much happened so much to unpack
I mean we we've literally recorded like four and a half hours worth of content at this point

(01:48:00):
on just this one book because there's just so much that like it's all important and there was a lot
that was even minorly we felt important but we just couldn't even include it in this episode so
I really think it would take us about 16 hours to fully digest every single thing with this
because it's there's just so much I love it we'll read every other book written by her already have
