though, native folks are pushingus to forgo land

feels like ages since we'vetalked, okay, that's just a
straight up lie, but it'sdefinitely ages since we
recorded our talking, it hasbeen we've missed you, dear
listeners, though not eachother. We're actually best
friends and family in real life.
We talk all the time, even if wedon't record it. But you may
have noticed that we have beenon a short to medium long

hiatus.
Megan Goodwin (01:57):
It was the hiatus
that it needed to be, but we're
back, babies. We had to finishour book, which is now available
for pre order. Thank you verymuch. Officially drops on the
fifth of November, 2024 it's GuyFawkes day. It's, uh, it's an
election day in the US. That'sfine. That's that's fine. I'm
fine. I feel fine about it.
Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst (02:17):
Yeah,
remember, remember the fifth of
November, and it's fitting, uhand Goodwin, yes, geez, what is
the name of this not to bemissed, book?
Megan Goodwin (02:28):
Oh, wait, I know
this one. I know this one. It is
called Religion Is Not Done WithYou.
Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst (02:33):
Beacon
Press, graciously. Let us write
a book loosely tied to this herepodcast. It has swears, as you
might imagine, and baseball, because I can't avoid sports and
maps and race and gender and lawand we think, Nay, We are fully
committed to the fact that youwill love it.
Megan Goodwin (02:51):
You will love it.
We know it. We know it in ourhearts. We would love it if you
would pre order it. Pre ordersequal love, please and thank
you. It helps the publisher knowthat people are excited about
the book, and we hope--we feelconfident that you will be
excited about the book. So we'dlove it the most if you pre
ordered from indie books or yourlocal bookstore, but it is
(03:12):
available literally everywhere, and will be in bookstores
nationally, like a real book.
Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst (03:18):
I know
it's so exciting. Geppetto did
all of his magic, and here weare
Megan Goodwin (03:24):
Aint no strings
on me.
Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst (03:25):
It
turns out that writing a
podcast, writing a book, writingour own individual articles and
books and chapters and grants,as well as teaching and
designing websites and running ahumanities center and all of the
rest, made releasing bi weeklyepisodes literally impossible.
It turns out, even I havelimits, which seems ridiculous,
(03:49):
is ultimately true.
Megan Goodwin (03:51):
sometimes,
sometimes calendar schedules.
You now you know how I feelevery goddamn day, but we're
back. We're back, and we have ayear of episodes planned for
y'all and we're really excitedabout it.
Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst (04:05):
Yeah,
we've got this year long season
like back to regular populatedwith short series, topical
episodes and somehow-does-the-sausage-get-made,
episodes about book writing.
Because, quite frankly, younerds keep asking us about it,
even when we went intohibernation.
Megan Goodwin (04:21):
So we will, we
will share the sausage.
Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst (04:25):
Yeah,
well, we'll have a barbecue or
something.
Megan Goodwin (04:28):
Ah, good. Yes,
delicious. I can't wait to chomp
into that. So, yeah, let's getinto it. Here is a rundown of
what we've got going on thisyear. We have a four part mini
series that we're so excited andscared, in the words of Stephen
Sondheim, to share with you, itis about religion and adoption.
No big deal where we're focusingon how religions approach
(04:51):
children without guardians, howadoption is related to religious
freedom and where reproductivejustice fits into this
conversation. We also have athree-part series of minisodes
on writing a book. So like howthat happens. Why write for a
public audience, how we worktogether. And then we've got
some fun standalone episodesabout religion and tattoos. I
(05:11):
just got a new tattoo. We'revery excited about it. Gonna
talk about it. We're doing ahistoric dive into the MOVE
bombing, and me, who I'm,Megan's new research, and we're
talking about maybe watchingMonkey Man, because that sounds
like fun. And also we arefinally doing our book club
episode about Jane Steele,
Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst (05:30):
yeah
which makes this a great time to
remind you all that we said we'dread Jane Steele by Lindsay Faye
together, and we have, we justdidn't record anything about it,
which now we will, and we'regoing to talk about it in our
next episode. So if you areholding out on having read Jane
Steele, or if you read it a yearago and then forgot it, this is
(05:53):
a great time to revisit you knowyour Cliff Notes, quick quickie
refresher.
Megan Goodwin (05:56):
Oh, I wonder if
there's an audio book. I bet
there is an audio book. MaybeI'll, maybe I'll look at that
anyway. So amazing. Excitednerds. If you feel like it, grab
that novel at your locallibrary, and we shall put on our
best LeVar Burton fan gogglesand talk about it on our very
next episode
Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst (06:11):
before
we say peace out, nerds, the
sacred utterance, let me justsay we've gotten a ton of
requests recently to come andgive either book talks or
podcast talks, and that is soexciting and so humbling and so
fabulous. If you want to inviteus to campus or your local
(06:33):
bookstore, please, please, please, we have been instructed
to tell you to reach out to ourincredible marketing and
publicity Maven at Beacon Press, whose name is Caitlin Meyer, all
of that information is going tobe in our show notes and on our
website, but just so you heardit, we would love to come visit,
and particularly beacon wouldlove us if we came and visited,
(06:55):
but they are organizing all ofthat, so get in touch early and
often. We will do our best toshow up in your neck of the
woods.
Megan Goodwin (07:02):
that would be
super fun. We are really excited
about this book, and we'rereally excited to talk to you
all about it. So once again, itis called Religion Is Not Done
With You. I love it so much.
Anyway, you can find us acrosssocial media. We're still
reluctantly on the zombie thatis Twitter. We're on instant
we're on Tiktok, we're onFacebook. Apparently, I don't
even know that! we should maybeget on blue sky. I don't know.
Let's talk about it. And if noneof that tickles your fancy, we
(07:24):
have a newsletter you can joinvia our website, which is
keeping it one on one.com, dropus a rating or review in your
podcatcher of choice. And withthat,
Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst (07:34):
peace
out. Nerds.
Megan Goodwin (07:35):
Do your homework.
It's on the syllabus.
Unknown (07:59):
Oh, no.
