I interviewed one of New York City’s first responders. Her name is Sarai Bismuth and she’s a paramedic. Despite the EMS being an often sidelined entity in the emergency hierarchy, Sarai shares the pride she has in her work and what life looked like before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. We talk about the impact of the amount of death she’s exposed to and whether or not she’s happy with her career choice, given all of the chaos - this is her 3rd career by the way, she used to be a body piercer for over 10 years, both Israeli and a proud New Yorker.
