On this episode, Dr. Ellington Darden joins us. Growing up in Conroe, Texas, in the 1940’s and 50’s, Dr. Darden developed a passion for resistance training. He fueled that passion with both education and practice, and has devoted much of his life to helping people better understand exercise and health.
He has written over 40 books on exercise, resistance training, and nutrition! He was honored by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports as one of the Top 10 health leaders in the United States. After meeting Arthur Jones, he joined Nautilus Sports where he served as director of research for 17 years. On today’s episode, he shares with us what is like to grow both in age and professionally with the paralleled rise of resistance training in the US and offers reflections from over 50 years in health and human performance. He is a true trailblazer for resistance training, health, and fitness!

Intentionally Disturbing
Join me on this podcast as I navigate the murky waters of human behavior, current events, and personal anecdotes through in-depth interviews with incredible people—all served with a generous helping of sarcasm and satire. After years as a forensic and clinical psychologist, I offer a unique interview style and a low tolerance for bullshit, quickly steering conversations toward depth and darkness. I honor the seriousness while also appreciating wit. I’m your guide through the twisted labyrinth of the human psyche, armed with dark humor and biting wit.
