Khalsa is a term that holds significant meaning within world communities. It is derived from the word "pure" or "free." The term was first used by Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib Ji, the tenth Sikh guru, to refer to a community of initiated Sikhs who became Khalsa and dedicated themselves to living a life of purity and devotion. For Sikhs, the Khalsa represents the highest ideal of spiritual purity and ethical conduct. It is a community of individuals who have been revealed through a special ceremony called Amrit Sanchar. This ceremony symbolizes the Sikh's commitment to living a life of righteousness and service to others. The Khalsa is also known for its distinctive appearance, which includes the five articles of faith known as the Five Ks: Kesh (uncut hair), Kangha (a small wooden comb), Kara (an iron bracelet), Kirpan (a sword), and Kachhera (a unique garment). These articles of faith serve as reminders of the Sikh's commitment to living a life of discipline, devotion, and service. In addition to its spiritual significance, the Khalsa has played a crucial role in history. During times of persecution and oppression, the Khalsa has served as a source of strength and resilience for the safety of all the communities. Its members have stood up against tyranny and defended everyone's faith and values with courage and determination.
