Mrs. Hillorie Schrock is the Northwest Christian high school American Sign Language instructor. Her love for Jesus, her students, and ASL have wonderfully fused into an immersive classroom environment in which students are learning so much more than a second or third language. Hillorie does an amazing job of conveying her love and compassion for the deaf community--a group that some of called the world's largest, unreached people group.
What is it that has worked to make this group so difficult to evangelize? Why are they so much more vulnerable to physical and sexual abuse?
Answers to these questions lead into a Kingdom Culture Conversation in which Hillorie explains an innovative initiative in which she is facilitating a sign language-based video exchange between her Northwest Christian classes and deaf students at a school in Rwanda, HVP Gatagara.
The effort is part of Northwest Christian's growing partnership with Rwanda's City of Joy Christian School. For more on City of Joy, click here.
