Misinformation about a lot of things these days and certainly around FASD is widespread — and it hurts families and communities. In this episode, Angela shares her personal reflections on how outdated language and statistics perpetuate stigma and confusion. She also offers a hopeful path forward, calling for collaboration, evidence-based messaging, and compassion.
She proudly announces that her commitment to this continues and is evident in her recently updated 2nd edition books, "A Complicated and Beautiful Brain" and "Not Your Typical Parenting Guide" – these books are less than 5 and 2 years old respectively, but needed to be updated because the research has changed and there are even more improved strategies and approaches as the learning from families continues. More up to date research and strategies for educators of all kinds can be found in her most recent brand-new book, “Not Your Typical Teaching Guide”.
