The Scriptures teach, that God’s providential control extends to all events, even the most minute; thereby, the Scriptures also teach that God’s plan is equally comprehensive. 

The dominant idea of “sanctification” is separation from sin and the unredeemed world, and the setting apart for a sacred purpose by someone else. Thus, only those “in Christ” that are regenerated and born again are “sanctified.” 

Charles Spurgeon, in his sermon titled Human Inability, said this: “Through the fall, and through our own sin, the nature of man has become so debased, so depraved, and corrupt, that it is impossible for him to come to Christ without the assistance of the Holy Spirit...Man’s nature is so corrupt that he has neither the will nor the power to come to Christ unless drawn by the Spirit.” 

God’s “elect” are those who are “called or chosen” to be saved according to God’s selection to extend mercy and grace. 

Predestination refers to God’s choice of individuals for eternal life, while election is the effectual call of the individual for eternal life. 

God made a choice, He chose some individuals to be saved into everlasting blessedness and others He chose to pass over, to allow them to follow the consequences of their sin into eternal torment.

This week's Bible study focuses on the threefold work of the saint's preservation: the sovereign work of the Father, the High Priestly work of Christ; and the seal and guarantee of the Spirit.
