Text The Show and you could hear your question on the next episode!

This one’s personal.

In this behind-the-scenes episode of Sports Scar’d, I open up about how the series started, what kept it going, and why each episode means something different to me. From the very first idea scribbled in my notes to the raw interviews you’ve watched unfold on screen, this is my story as a creator—no script, just real talk.

We kick things off with a throwback to my old podcast and why I decided to shut it down. Then I break down each Sports Scar’d episode and what made them special through my eyes—not just as a storyteller, but as someone who lived through every frame of production.

EPISODE BREAKDOWN:

The Catch
This was the anchor. I knew for a full year that if I was ever going to launch Sports Scar’d, it had to start here. My former coach, my emotional connection to the moment, and the pressure to make it cinematic—it all came together exactly the way I hoped.

The Billy Cundiff Miss
This one was a redo. Our first attempt never aired. But the second try? Changed my whole interview style. Having my brother—my favorite person—sit down with me made it emotional, funny, and honest. It’s the only episode where I felt like I was part of the heartbreak too.

The Double Doink
I didn’t want to shoot over Zoom. I thought the quality would suffer. But Blair proved me dead wrong. His passion through the screen lit this episode up. His energy pulled the story forward, even from across the country.

The Tuck Rule Game
Devon’s energy was off the charts. Editing this one was tough because of how much my interview style evolved. It was a challenge to find the right flow, but the chemistry carried us. His personality filled every second, and I was just along for the ride.

The Ray Allen Shot
This one hit different. Jarell is more than a friend—he’s my brother. The moment we hit record, we just started talking ball. No prep needed. That’s why it feels like a conversation between two fans, not an interview. And that’s what makes it work.

What’s Next
Sports Scar’d isn’t slowing down. I’m already working on Season 2—including an episode where I finally tell my story. And while some of that’s already slipped into earlier episodes, this time it’ll be front and center.

If you’ve ever wondered what goes into making a show like this, or just want to know what these episodes meant from my side of the mic, this is the one to watch.

For fans of: sports storytelling, podcast creators, fan reactions, content creation, NBA and NFL heartbreaks, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Justin Tucker, Ray Allen, and unforgettable playoff moments.
