S1 (00:00):
Kurt and Kate mornings. Not just on the radio.
S2 (00:03):
It's a podcast too.
S1 (00:06):
When life hands you lemons, what are you going to do?
S2 (00:11):
Eat them. You gonna eat them?
S1 (00:13):
No you're not. You're going to make lemonade.
S2 (00:15):
Yes.
S1 (00:16):
And when your plans happen to derail, what do you do?
As a believer, you pivot. You say, okay, God, this
is not an interruption. This is not a surprise. This
is you at work in my life. And then you
follow where he leads you next and see what he's
going to do. That's exactly what happened to us recently.
(00:38):
We had a guest who had car trouble. Couldn't get
to his phone to join us. And it's ironic, too,
because he was going to be we were going to
be talking about expectations and how we have them too
high sometimes.
S2 (00:49):
We expected him here, but no.
S1 (00:51):
Yeah. And sometimes we had we had very high expectations
for the conversation and we promoted it. But God had
other plans. So we just opened up the phone lines
and just a conversation with with everybody. Our community and
what a blessing it was. Take a listen to some
of the highlights. We'll just call it Kurt and Kate's
(01:12):
fill in the blank. Right.
S2 (01:14):
Fill in the blank. Yeah. Fill in the blank.
S1 (01:16):
Uh, so, uh, phone lines are open. Guys, what are
you doing right now? This morning? Maybe something that the
Lord has placed on your heart. And now that we've
extended the invitation, you're thinking, well, maybe the Lord wants
to use this in somebody else's life. All right, a
good buddy Jay in Orlando is first up. Hey, Jay. Welcome.
S3 (01:37):
You guys are, uh, my bread and butter in the
morning for spiritual growth. I love it.
S2 (01:42):
That's awesome.
S1 (01:43):
Well. Thank you.
S3 (01:45):
Hey, um, remember the gentleman you guys had on not
too long ago? A few weeks ago? His name was Jay.
S1 (01:50):
Jay. Dennis.
S2 (01:51):
Jay. Dennis? Yeah. Yeah. Okay, sure.
S3 (01:54):
I called in because there was so much torment going
on in my life. Then, um, you know, it's a
spiritual warfare that we deal with, and, uh, I had
been going through quite a bit of. Turmoil. My tongue
won't turn right up, but I just want to tell
you I called in. You prayed with me. He prayed
(02:15):
with me. You guys believed with me. You don't know
how much that meant. And what God did out of
that was gave my heart peace and my mind stability
of understanding that his grace is sufficient in all things,
and that the thing that I was going through was
very hard. But God's grace gave me light and gave
(02:38):
me the courage and to understand through you guys praying
and believing with me, that he set me free from
the bondage of sexual lust, of sin I was in.
And I want to tell you guys this I'm opening
my heart here. Yeah, I know everybody hears this, but
God is so gracious when we humble ourselves on our
(03:00):
knees before him and we all come together and we
believe together, he says. Do agree on one thing, you
know it will be done for them. And I just
know that God has opened that door up in my heart,
and he forgave me, and he has cleansed me, and
he set me free from that bondage. And I can,
you know, I just have a breath of fresh air
and I just say, okay, this morning show, you don't
(03:24):
know how important this is, that God works through you
guys in a most dynamic way. And I'm proof of
that because he touched my heart. And I just want
to say I love you. Thank you so much for
your faithfulness to the Lord and being what you guys
are doing today. Without it, this world would be a
(03:44):
mess without you guys.
S2 (03:46):
Thank you so much. You know, and it is true.
God works through this.
S1 (03:50):
He does. And Jay, you know what's so exciting is
to hear how he's working in your life. But it
took so much courage when you called in during that segment.
And the difference, the contrast between the sound of your
voice here this morning and the sound of your voice
on that day. It's the difference between day and night.
That's the difference that the Lord makes, isn't it?
S3 (04:13):
Yes.
S1 (04:14):
It's his glory. He gets the glory. He is the
one who changes us. He is the one who who
helps us through these difficulties. He is the one who
carries us when we can't walk. You can't take another step.
He is the one who rescues you like he did
with Jay in the midst of a struggle with whatever
(04:36):
it is. You know, you may be struggling with something
right now. Would you? Did you hear Jay's voice? You
may be struggling with addiction to pornography. He he said,
you know, sexual lust and and all of that stuff.
You're tuning in today, and this is not by accident.
We don't believe in accidents. We believe in divine appointments,
(04:57):
not coincidences. But maybe what Jay said gave you hope.
Today we're here to tell you that Jesus still calms
storms within. He calms storms on the Sea of Galilee without,
but he calms our storms within. He gives us grace
and he loves us. As we struggle in this battle
(05:19):
against Satan, the world, the flesh. He is for us.
He does not hate us. He loves us. The great
love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord. He is
the original chain breaker.
S4 (05:36):
Thank you for taking some time to listen to this
episode of the Curtin Cate Mornings podcast. We always welcome
a review with your thoughts and comments, and please feel
free to subscribe and follow us as well.
S1 (05:48):
Let's go to Lincoln next. Who's joining us from Tampa?
Hey Lee, welcome to the conversation. So glad you called.
S5 (05:54):
I thank God I just want to give him praise
today because, um, the fact that I'm taking care of
my mother in law and I'm not working, and I'm
taking care of my grandson, who is in temporary custody, um,
with me. And, uh, I just want to say that,
you know, I've been looking for a business that I've
wanted God to use me in. I finally got introduced
(06:15):
to living life insurance, and I. I went to take
a test, and I failed the first time, and I
cried to God. And I said, God, if you're going
to use me, I need this license to get in,
to bring in the lost souls. And I took it
the second time and I passed. So I'm in. And
for some reason, he opened the door for me to
(06:36):
teach other people to learn how to pass their license
for the first time. And I'm just new in the business.
And here he opened the door for me. And now
I'm praying to people. That is first before we do
the studies every Friday. I, you know, I pray with
them first and I open with prayer and I close
with prayer and I this past week, I asked someone
(06:57):
to volunteer the closing prayer and nobody volunteered. And I
was like, well, I think there's a lot of unbelievers here.
This is where God's going to use me, and I
just want God's will to be done in my life,
so I just praise him for that. You know that.
I know that he will use me in this business,
and I know the money is okay. I'm sure I'm
not making money yet, but I know I'm already rich
(07:20):
because I have God in me. So, um, you know, uh,
his word says that, um, what does a man gain
to profit the world and lose his soul? You know,
that's his word. So I'm going with that, and I'm
running with it. And I know God is with me.
Every morning. I'm doing Bible with my mother in law,
and she, you know, we both was raised in Catholic,
and I'm a Christian now. I'm a born again Christian.
(07:43):
You know, my brother is a pastor. And, you know,
because of him, he led me to Jesus Christ to
be saved and know for real who he is, you know,
and not by tradition or anything that we were learning
when I was small. So I'm just grateful for this, um,
platform that you have. And I'm grateful that every morning
(08:03):
I listen to it now as I'm driving my grandson
to school, you know, and so this morning I got
the number and I'm driving and writing the number down
and I'm like encouraged, you know, that I'm able to
be on here to even speak my mind, you know,
be able to voice myself. So yeah.
S1 (08:22):
You're awesome man. You're great. You should be on with
us every morning.
S2 (08:28):
Oh.
S5 (08:29):
Yeah. I'm excited when I listen. And last time I
turned on the radio, I moved, um, from Pennsylvania, um,
to Florida in June of last year. And we've been
here ever since, taking care of my mother in law
in her house, because she fell in her house and
ended up in a rehab. And while I was visiting,
I ended up waiting for her. And God used me
(08:49):
in her life as she was in the hospital to
go speak to her. You know, before, I never had
a relationship with her until God called me to go
to the hospital and visit her, and I just went
there with with a bunch of flowers and I, you know,
talked to her, you know, and just we gained a
relationship from that time till now. Now I'm reading The Voice,
(09:10):
letting her know who God really is. And, you know,
teaching the Bible to her every single morning. And it's
been great. We've been having an awesome relationship every single day.
S1 (09:20):
Oh, these stories are wonderful. And we don't need to
leave them locked up within ourselves. We need to let
them out. Let's go to Odessa next. And that would
be John. Hey, John. Welcome to the conversation.
S6 (09:34):
I just wanted to let your listeners know that a
great man in the Lord passed away early Monday morning.
Cape may remember him. His name is was Bob Swetland.
S2 (09:47):
Yes, I know we heard about it. Yeah, yeah.
S6 (09:51):
We got. Yeah.
S2 (09:52):
I know, uh, he he was a great guy. A
really nice man. You're absolutely right. And and we're praying
for Barb, you know, uh, at that great loss to
her and to really to all of us, he was
just a I don't think he ever met somebody he
wasn't a friend with. You know, he was he just
went right into the friendship thing. He was such a
(10:13):
good guy.
S6 (10:15):
Yeah, he really did. He's. He's so well known among us.
He was a part of our men's Bible study that
we meet on Friday mornings at the Y. Y. And, uh,
he would always close us in prayer with the numbers 624. And, um,
(10:36):
I'll just repeat it that many of you know it.
It says, the Lord bless you and keep you. The
Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious
to you. The Lord turn his face toward you and
give you peace.
S2 (10:51):
Amen.
S6 (10:52):
Never get tired of close our Bible study. Right, right. Yeah.
And he closed our Bible study with that. Another remarkable
thing that Bob always did was he would always ask
the server, you know how Bob loved to eat, right?
S2 (11:07):
Yeah. Yeah. That's funny.
S6 (11:11):
So he would always ask the server for if they
needed any prayer, and when he prayed for the food,
he also prayed for that server. And so those are
a couple of remarkable things that I will always appreciate
and remember about Bob Scotland.
S2 (11:30):
Oh, I'm so glad.
S1 (11:31):
You called in, John. That's great.
S2 (11:34):
Yeah.
S1 (11:34):
You know, I.
S2 (11:35):
Used to treat us to ice cream after share.
S1 (11:38):
How come I that was before my tenure, my time.
S2 (11:40):
I missed that you missed it. Yeah, that was great.
S1 (11:43):
I met Bob once, honestly, and but I heard many
wonderful stories about him, and I feel like I know
him a lot better. After you shared that, John. Wow.
Absent from the body present with the Lord. Let's go
to Bradenton next. And. Josephine. Hey, Josephine. So glad you're
joining the conversation. Welcome.
S7 (11:58):
I want to talk about, um, the day that my
father accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.
S1 (12:06):
Oh, right.
S7 (12:08):
He had been an agnostic all of his life, uh,
since he knew anything about what to believe. But he
had a mom who was who was born again. And, uh,
she taught him different things about the Bible and things
(12:29):
like that. While she was living, and, uh, he, um, after, uh,
he he came down with a real bad stroke, and
he was paralyzed from the chest down. And, uh, then and, um,
(12:50):
our friends Dave and Gloria Schley, who were interim pastors
in the church of the of the Missionary Alliance. Um, they, uh, uh,
two friends of ours, Bill and Shirley, brought them to
the hospital. Uh, where where, my husband was and my
(13:17):
brother was and, uh, they, um, they, um, talked with
them and and then, uh, Pastor Schley led my father
to the Lord.
S1 (13:28):
Mhm.
S2 (13:29):
Cool.
S7 (13:29):
And so it was on the last full day of
his life that he asked Jesus into his heart.
S1 (13:39):
Oh my goodness Josephine. Wow, look at that. It's never
too late. Listen, we need to. Maybe Josephine's story is
encouraging you to continue to pray for your your family member,
your friend, and you've been praying for him for a
long time to come to Jesus. Don't give up. Be
(13:59):
there every day and pray for them. Do not be discouraged.
Persevere because you don't know the 11th hour. There is
always hope until the very last moment. This guy is
on line 91.
S8 (14:15):
Start your day in a beautiful way. You'll never be
late with Kurt and Kate.
S1 (14:20):
I think his name is fish. Hey, fish. How you doing?
S8 (14:24):
I called because I got kind of, like, a funny
God story, but, um, there's some money. When I was
a teenager, we used to work in the fields, so
there was a guy out there, he would complain. He
was always saying, like, he's the baddest guy around. Nobody
can beat him, you know, just out there just bragging, bragging.
And all of a sudden, out of the bushes came
a maybe a two inch grasshopper or a locust. It
(14:47):
came flying, hit him square in his forehead, and he
went falling down. And everybody around there laughing like, okay,
you're the baddest man around, but you got beat by
a little grasshopper.
S1 (14:57):
Yeah. That's great. I've seen. Listen, you guys remember that
big grasshopper that was on a leaf outside the window
of my office? Mark, remember that that we.
S4 (15:10):
Yes. That was big.
S1 (15:11):
That was scary looking. So, you know, fish, they can
be very scary looking, especially if they're up close and
they're huge.
S8 (15:21):
I think those guys guys will tell them, stop bragging.
And you, you know.
S1 (15:25):
That's right. Better watch out. I'm just telling you. God
loves you, but he'll also humble you, that's for sure.
Let's go to David in Orlando. Hey, David. I'm really
glad you picked up your phone. Welcome.
S9 (15:35):
I just want to give encouragement, hopefully to a lot
of youth. But for all of us as well. You know,
I'm about 60 years old. I've been a Christian since
junior high. So there's been a long time, many sermons.
You know, when you think about all that we've had and, um,
you know, like, you listen to, like, a year, like
50 sermons, that's like, you know, for a decade, you know,
(15:58):
that's like 500 sermons. And how much of that have
we implied in, you know, into our lives? So. But
my point is, I want to when you look at, uh,
the youth, uh, you can really take advantage of this
time that you don't have when you get older, you
get married, you have kids, you know, you get divided
(16:19):
in your time, as Paul said. So when I look
at it, you can you can take the New Testament
and read through it in like eight, ten hours. The
Old Testament put on another 40 hours. So if people
are really disciplined, you know, get a reader's Bible without,
you know, versus, um, you know, the numbers of chapters
and verses, you know, and look at it this from
(16:40):
a macro level and just read through it all and
get a really grasp of the gospel. You know, every
story says his name throughout the Bible. And then also
at the, you know, the the micro, the micro level,
you know, learn, you know, really high God's word, those
verses that you can really live by. And, you know,
you can you can study all you want. Just like
(17:01):
that last segment. You know, you could become a Pharisee
and know everything. So you really have to take that
and apply that to your life. And what's what's great
about this day and age is, uh, what's available at
our fingertips. You know, you could you can use that
for great evil or great or great good. That's right.
You know. Yeah. Like, you know, was it the verse
(17:23):
talks about in the last days, people will go through
to and fro throughout the earth and knowledge will increase. Well,
you know, give me a couple thousand dollars I can
get anywhere on this ball and then give me Wikipedia.
I can learn everything. So my point being that, um.
S1 (17:43):
Take, take advantage of the resources that we have. That's right.
And there. Yeah. Praise the Lord for that. You know,
all the English Bible translations, all the tools we have,
all the apps. Well said. David, thank you so much
for joining us. I want to see if I can
squeeze in at least one more call here. At least one.
Lindsay is joining us from Clearwater. Hey, Lindsay. Uh, welcome
to the conversation. I've got about about a minute, but
(18:04):
I did want to skip you.
S10 (18:06):
My coworker actually introduced me to Moody Radio a couple
years ago, when I was going through a really difficult
time with anxiety, and, um, I ever since then, I've
been listening, listening to the show every single day. And,
you know, it really helps me with my battle with
anxiety to hear the show. It helped me remind me
of God's truth.
S1 (18:24):
Well, you know what? That's so exciting. God is good.
And it's, uh. We need those reminders, don't we, Lindsay?
Because I don't know, truth leaks. Sometimes we forget, you know,
yesterday's truth somehow evaporates, and we need another dose of it.
Would you agree?
S10 (18:40):
Yeah, absolutely. The enemy really tries to, you know, put
lies in my mind. And listening to the to the
show and Rudy radio helps to remind me of God's
truth and to kind of, like, drown out the enemy's lies.
S1 (18:52):
Man. That's great. Well, I'm so glad you called. Lindsey.
Don't be a stranger. See, you didn't need to be nervous.
It was easy, right?
S10 (18:57):
Right. Yeah. It was. It was not too bad. I
was I was too nervous for nothing.
S2 (19:01):
There you go. Next time, you won't be. That's right.
