La desinformación consiste en creer firmemente en una información que es falsa o incorrecta, mientras que las teorias conspirativas buscan explicar eventos cruciales que suceden en nuestro entorno atribuyéndolos a los designios secretos y malintencionados de distintos actores poderosos.
Por lo tanto, ambas son diferentes. En particular porque, aunque las teorías conspirativas conllevan algún grado de desinformación, esta última no tiene por qué tener carácter conspirativo. Sin embargo, sus causas y consecuencias son altamente similares.
