Esther vive en República Dominicana, donde los altos índices de cesárea han levantado preocupaciones de los expertos, pero donde no se hace nada para cambiar la situación.
Esther nació por cesárea y las historias de las mujeres de su familia tenían como tema recurrente la desinformación. La abuela de Esther, quien fue madre a los 15 años, llegó a su primer parto creyendo que a los bebés los traía la cigüeña.
Pero desde muy joven Esther estaba profundamente interesada en el parto. Vio un programa de Discovery Health sobre el parto en casa y ahí se plantó en ella la semilla de un parto amoroso.
Esther empezó a aprender más sobre el parto durante su primer embarazo. Escuchó este podcast y tomó un entrenamiento de doula. Ese primer embarazo se perdió a las 9 semanas pero Esther siguió su camino de educación y cuando se embarazó de nuevo llegó armada de muchos conocimientos que la fueron guiando para convencer a su esposo médico de que el parto en casa era la mejor opción para su familia.
Después de investigar encontraron una partera que les pudo atender y tuvieron una bella experiencia de nacimiento en casa.
