Al finalizar su licenciatura Sandra se dio cuenta de que le apasionaba el campo: sembrar sus alimentos y transformarlos en deliciosas creaciones. En esta búsqueda conoció a su compañero en Canadá, ambos con la idea de tener una familia concibieron a Amapola. Recibieron la noticia en tiempos de pandemia y el compañero de Sandra tuvo que volver a Canadá a trabajar, ella se quedó en el Estado de México con su familia y logró aceptar que quizá su compañero no estaría presente en el parto por la situación mundial. Afortunadamente volvió a tiempo junto con su suegra y toda la familia se involucró en el parto. Al nacer su bebé tenía complicaciones respiratorias pero Sandra y su compañero confiaron siguiendo su instinto cuidando de esa condición en casa hasta que pocos días después se estabilizó.
Cuando Amapola tenía nueve meses recibieron la noticia de su segundo embarazo con alegría. Sandra y su pareja decidieron volver a pasar el embarazo y parto en el Estado de México. Con el apoyo de su familia lograron tener un bello parto en casa. Ambos continúan trabajando la tierra y cuidando las semillas de vida.
