Last Borough Standing

Last Borough Standing

The Bronx has long been burdened with persistent negative stereotypes, stemming from gang conflicts & urban decay in the 1970s and 1980s, to more recent stereotypes perpetuated on Social Media in 2024. Despite being home to the country’s poorest congressional district, the Bronx isn't what you think it is! Irene is a first-generation Jamaican and Bronx native. She curated this series to highlight people, places and things that preserves Bronx culture. Tune in as she ventures through various Bronx neighborhoods, businesses & events to speak with people who are maintaining Bronx culture in the last borough that has yet to be gentrified, the Last Borough Standing.
