Speaker 1 (01:18):
Yes, and you know, and let's provide some tips along
the way. And let's chat, ladies, let's chat, let's talk
about it.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Let's chat. So in this episode, we are going to
be providing you with tips on how to practice body
positivity and self care. And the first tip we're gonna
give you is to practice self compassion. And what does
that mean. That means to be kind to yourself and
treat yourself with the same compassion and understanding that you
would offer to a friend.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
You know, And that's super important, right because I think
someone so it's always important to view things in that way,
like be compassionate, exactly what you said and understanding, like
the same kind of the same advice that you offer
to a friend, take for yourself. And I think that's

(02:07):
the most challenging partner.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Right, Like you you would always be kind to a friend,
like be kind to yourself too.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Yes, Like you would tell like, let's say, when you
compliment a friend, when you're patient with a friend where
you're understanding, where you have empathy for a friend, like,
it's important to also do the same for yourself.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Yeah, and now let's get into that a little bit more.
I want to ask you, what are some acts of
kindness that you do for yourself?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
You know, that's such a great question. I feel like
we try to I try to give so much like
self love right as much as I can, and self care.
But something that's really really important for me to be
kind to myself is allow myself to have a relaxing day,

(02:52):
whether that's a Sunday or a Saturday, just because of
my schedule, those are like the two best days that
I can do that just take a day for myself
more than more than often is Sundays where I'm just like,
you know what, I'm just going to relax. I'm gonna relax,
I'm going to disconnect. I'm going to recharge and just

(03:12):
dedicate time for myself and do whatever I want and
not feel bad about it. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Sometimes that's the best thing you can do for yourself.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yeah, and I think you know that's great. It's okay
to have a relaxing day and just do simply nothing
to reach out to you exactly do you boo? What's
something that you know that our acts of kindness that
you like to practice with yourself.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah, And this is an ongoing thing that I'm trying
to be better at and practice at with myself. Is
I try not to be hard on myself if I'm
not seeing progress on a goal, like, for example, in
my fitness journey, like I'm trying to get better at
doing lunges because I have terrible balance, and sometimes I

(03:57):
just get frustrated because like I'm not seeing my lunges progress. Right,
So it's just like giving myself like a break on
that and saying like this is okay, like you're gonna
get stronger, like don't worry, like.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Just try again. Crazy for yourself? Easy, right, Because let
me ask you this, if what would you tell a
friend that's going through the same thing you are, Like,
what would you tell her?

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I would tell this is crazy that you're asking to this,
because like I wouldn't say this to myself, but like
saying it to a friend, I would just be encouraging
and I would say, girl, you're doing amazing, like you,
I'm so proud of you for like doing this Ryan
like you would.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Be easier on your friend than to yourself. So I
think it's something that you just stop and think about.
You know. It's like what would you tell your friend.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Yeah, like you've come such a long way and just
provide words of encouragement. So I got to practice that
with myself.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Now, go ahead and tell yourself that, you know, And
this is like it's just a simple exercise too that
you can put into practice when you're practicing self compassion.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Yes, absolutely, And that kind of leads into our next tip,
which is focusing on health and not weight.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Yes, I think that is really really important and I
can speak from like personal experience, like my weight has
always fluctuated, it's always been up and down, up and down,
or you know, and that can really creates a lot
of stress, like not only like on your body, but
mentally as well. And something that I have realized is

(05:36):
not necessarily focusing on the weight of how much weight
I want to lose, but it's more like focusing on
the health aspects. How are you health wise? What is
it that you need to prioritize, how do you want
to nourish your body, your mind, your spirit, rather than
just chasing a number on the scale, right, Because something

(05:56):
I've learned is like a number, like don't they like,
don't get attached to that number. Like firstly, like, okay,
how are you health wise?

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:07):
What do you need to prioritize?

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah, don't get fixated on I have to be you
know X amount of weight?

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Yeah, because I think that can be really challenging. I
think it's across the board for many women, no matter
what age you are. But I think embracing yourself, loving yourself,
loving your body, loving who you are, and knowing that
you know, you're trying to be the best that you
can for mentally, like physically and spiritually.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, And what are some healthy habits that you've learned
to prioritize?

Speaker 1 (06:42):
You know some of the things that I definitely have prioritized.
It's just like drinking lots of water. Drinking the water
that my body needs. And this is something that came
from my doctor, right, Like, Okay, how much water do
I need to drink? Because I know it depends on
everyone's body. Everyone's body is different. Highly, Like by saying
this is like highly encourage everyone to check that out. Right,

(07:04):
So are you dehydrated? Are you hydrated? You know you
don't wanna don't think it is this myavoco, you know,
or like just just hydrate, hydrate. So that's one of
the things. Another thing that I started practicing as of
you know, last year is waking up and stepping barefoot
on the grass. Oh what, yep, I put my feet sometimes. Yeah,

(07:30):
it is. But you know what I've learned is that
the reason for that is because it helps you stimulate
the pressure points on your feet. Yeah, and it helps
with it helps improve your circulation, and it helps you
manage stress levels, eyesight, like all of those things. So
there's so many benefits of like and don't quote me.
I'm not a doctor. I'm just saying, right, this is

(07:52):
like I'm just saying. So I'm not an I'm not
an expert by any means and that so let me
just say a disclaimer. But it is something that I
do practice and I believe that it helps me.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
And that's great. That's great that you've started to do that.
And is it something that has helped you.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I love it. I love it. Like it just helps
me like start fresh, you know, Like my day, I'll
take my dog out and then I'll just step on
the grass and just kind of express my gratitude and
then it's just a great way to like start off
your day. And then I'm around the grass.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Now tomorrow, I'm awake up, come around the grass.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
You're gonna roll around. You're like, okay, girl, let's do
it all. My neighbors be like, yes.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Yeah, it's taking out roll hey Lily, No, my mom's
gonna be like, is that this?

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah? Exactly how many times do we not hear that? Right?
But but what would you say? What are how do
you prioritize your healthy habits?

Speaker 2 (08:47):
So one thing I've started to do more is I've
started off my day by going on a walk and
just getting some fresh air. So I wouldn't say I'm
a morning person.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
I like to sleep.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I'm more like a sleeping in. But I've tried to
wake up earlier so that I do get that time
in the morning to myself before starting work. You know,
I work from home, so it's hard to like get
out of the house. So it's really nice to start
off the date by getting some fresh air, just going
on a walk, and then starting the day, you start,

(09:22):
you start off the day in a positive way.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Yes, love that. Love that. I have a question that
came in mind. So I know that you love to meditate.
I love to meditate, and we like to do that.
What is your favorite place to meditate if you had
to choose, is it the mountains? Is it the beach?
Or is it like more like city vibes?

Speaker 2 (09:44):
I would say the mountains.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
The mountains, Okay.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
I would say the mountains. I just love being around
like the nature of the trees, being secluded, having not
been having a lot of access to my phone, you know,
because the signal isn't that great.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
So no, I love the mountains, okay, same, And I
think like I'm a mountains girly as well, Like I'm
definitely more about like nature. The beach is beautiful too,
you know, it feels refreshing, but definitely a mountain's girly. Yes. Well,
our next tip it takes us to This one's super
super important because it's about the challenge, the challenge of

(10:22):
having negative thoughts and how to challenge those man negative thoughts. Lily,
I don't know if you noticed. Sometimes they just pop
up in your mind.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
They do. They're that little annoying bug that just like
pops out of nowhere.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yeah, it's just like there right so it's like, how
do you challenge those things? You know? So let's touch
a little bit on that, because this is important and
hopefully we can provide some great insight for you to
at least to start challenging those thoughts, because that reflectsing
your body, that reflecting your mindset and how you see yourself.

(10:57):
So what is something, Lily you say that, It's a
how do you challenge that when you have a negative
thought just pop up in your mind?

Speaker 2 (11:06):
So a couple of different things might sound silly, but
one thing that I've started to do, whenever a negative
thought comes to mind, I'll just like literally yell out
stop stop.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Just literally look up.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
I'll say stop, and then it just kind of like
put a stop to that.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
But something that's a great tip, by the way, I
really like that. That's good, Yeah, just stop.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
But something else that I remind myself is that sometimes
negative thoughts will pop into your mind when you're not busy.
So get busy, do something, jump wash dishes wash, be active,
doing something so that you're not focusing on that negative thought.

(11:57):
And like if you're doing some jumping jack or something like,
you're not gonna be thinking about that negative thought. You're
gonna be thinking about counting or some like counting on
the next jumping jack.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Yeah. You know what, it's so interesting that you say that,
because that reminds me of something that, like I started doing,
and I'll tell you what it is. And it feels
a little bit weird for me, right, I mean, this
could what I'm about to say, like someone, this can
come natural to someone, but for me, it's not necessarily
something that came natural. But I started practicing and it

(12:29):
has made such such a difference. Is moving my body
like with rhythm to music. So I'll put music on
and then I'm like, if I'm by myself, I'm like, okay,
now I'm gonna dance, you know, and I'm just gonna
snap out of this funky mood and get rid of
these negative thoughts, and I'll put like some good music

(12:51):
and then I'll just start dancing, and I'll see myself
in the mirror and I'm dancing and I'm like, Okay,
this isn't too bad. You know, to be comfortable with
yourself and with your body.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Or your mind, and then your mind shifts to the song,
shifts to the rhythm, like you're no longer thinking about
that negative thought because you're focusing on like what you're doing,
So just do something.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Yeah, and anything, do anything, you know, but definitely body movement.
I think it's super important. And just embrace your body.
Embrace your moves. And we're like moving right now as
we're talking, like exactly, so where you know, it's just
important to just start moving your body. See yourself in
the mirror and say, you know what, I love you, Yes,
I love how you are, I love how you look. Yes, girl,

(13:34):
like you're you're becoming the best version of yourself, you know,
like just encourage yourself. Yes.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
And hearing you say that leads into our next tip,
which is surround yourself with positive influences.

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Is it is so important, right, like that saying in
Spanish that goes right, If you surround yourself with negative
people or people that are always talking negative about others
or cheat melos, like guess what, that's just gonna like
put you down. It's like an energy, it's a it's

(14:10):
like so draining, like one thing I can't do. I
can't do negative people. I can't. I just can't.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
That's like a not someone that's always talking bad about something,
that never has something positive to say always complaining always,
it's just draining.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
It's just draining. And I get it, Like we all
go through different life experiences, some that are not positive.
But I think it's more of identifying that balance of like, what,
how can you help a friend going through a bad experience? Great,
you know you need to be there for your friend
or for your family member or however. Right, But it's
like if it's out of like just chase, like just

(14:48):
talking about other people, it's like no, no, no, that's
not good. It's not good for your mind, it's not
good for your body, and yeah it is. So surround
yourself with pas sative influences set boundaries more important, they
set boundaries just you know how you set boundaries with
people and you're like, no, this is my this is

(15:10):
my boundaries, this is my non negotiable. Set those same
boundaries around negative self talk, unrealistic beauty standards, toxic relationships,
your environment, Like just set those boundaries with yourself. Yes,
and most importantly you know yourself worse balast or.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Yes, and you have to unfollow. We're all on social media,
you know, unfollow those accounts that aren't making you feel good,
that are just draining your energy. Like sometimes we have
to go through our social media following and just follow.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Exactly, just hit the un follow button and it's like, no, girl,
Aqui Solo put positive vibes, put up positive vibes. But
you know, it's it's important that you mentioned, you know,
social media, right, because I feel like that in social
media you can see unrealistic lifestyles that they seem like
that may seem like it's everything. So it's important to
limit comparisons. You need to avoid comparing to yourself to

(16:07):
others because all of that just leads to bad feelings
and just not being happy with your own personal journey,
which by the way, is beautiful because we all have
our own journeys and we all have our own goals.
And focus on the progress.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Yes, focus on yourself, focus on how far you've come.
And just like re saying what you said, don't compare yourself, no,
don't compare yourself exactly exactly. And now going into our
next tip of body positivity and self care is practicing gratitude.

(16:44):
You know, cultivating gratitude for all that your body allows
you to do and experience, and you know, focusing on
your body's strengths and capabilities rather than the flaws that
you see.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
I love that. I love that because it so true.
And one thing that I can say proudly that Lily
and I we always practice gratitude. And it's so important.
Whether it's gratitude out loud, whether it's gratitude in a journal,
whether it's gratitude just in your mind. Always practice gratitude.

(17:18):
The first thing that I do is like just say,
you know, I am so grateful for my life. I'm
so grateful for my senses. I am so grateful for
just everything positive that surrounds me. Because there's always something
in between all the madness and maybe it could be

(17:41):
a bad life experience, there's always something that you can
be grateful for.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Yes, there's always something to be grateful for.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Yes, So what is something Let's talk about it, like,
what is something that you prioritize on being grateful for
and or that you're proud of.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
So one thing that I'm super proud of my body
for Recently I've started to practice strength training and through
this like strength training journey, I've just realized how powerful
my body is. And it's crazy because like I'm a smaller,
petite girl, I'm a shouty so like I always doubted

(18:19):
my strength abilities, but through strength training, I'm like, WHOA
that I can do that way, Like that's just crazy.
So I'm super grateful for my body to be able
to do that.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
I love that. And you know, it's recognizing that your
body is so powerful that you can do so many
things no matter what size you are, what shape you are,
and it's just it doesn't matter, like be grateful for
your body, you know. Like I mentioned earlier, I've gone
through different stages with my body of like fluctuating, you know,

(18:53):
and it's looked different in every stage of my life.
But I've learned to love and embrace every stage of
my life and always just knowing that I've given it
my all to be the healthiest that I can be
and only focus on the things that I can control
and not the things that I can't. So I think
that's very important when it comes to having body positivity

(19:16):
and health and so care.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Yes, and that is so beautiful that you say that,
and that really segues into our next tip, which is
embracing your unique beauty, you know, celebrating your features, your quirkiness,
your imperfections, because there's what makes you special and beautiful.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Yes, no, and I agree, like we're all again, we're
all unique, right, and we're beautifully unique. And it's about
embracing those imperfections, you know, or things that we might
think they're imperfections. But girl, let me tell you, you're
beyond perfect. You were made and created perfect you. There
is a reason why you are in this world, you know,

(20:01):
So embrace that, let that shine and just be your
true self. Wear what you want, rock what you want,
and have the color of hair that you want. Just
you know, focus on that. But most importantly, it starts
from within. Beauty starts from within, So really begin that

(20:21):
healing journey, that self love journey that's so important, and
trust me, it would be reflected in the outside.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Yeah, you want to know something quirky about me?

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Yes, I would love to know. I would love to know.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
I like to whistle.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Oh my god, Yes, I love that about you.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
I don't I just randomly whistle If you haven't noticed.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Lily, Lily has a strong whistle that I'd be like,
who just whistled? Who's whistling? But Lily, I love it. No,
I love it, and embrace that. That's so unique. Yeah,
I did again. I love that. Hey that is that's

(21:05):
a talent that I cannot whistle. For the life of me,
I cannot do that.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Oh yeah, Embrace your quirkiness, embraces that you know are
unique and special.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
I love it. I love it. And you know, at
the end of the day, you you know, it takes
us to our last and final tip, which is celebrate
your non physical attributes. And what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (21:34):
Yeah, what does that mean?

Speaker 1 (21:36):
That means celebrate when we're talking about our non physical right,
because when you think about body positivity, you automatically think, oh,
the outside, right, the outside, And no, it's about embracing
those qualities that you have as a human, as a person,
and that can include anything from like are you kind,
embracing your kindness, embracing your intelligence, your creativity, your aliens,

(22:00):
which all attribute to the person that you are. So
what is something My question to you is like, what
is something that you celebrate that is a non physical
attribute of yourself?

Speaker 2 (22:18):
So I would say that I I celebrate my kindness
and thoughtfulness. I know that sometimes kindness can be seen
as weakness, but I don't think so. I think that
nice girls can come in first two, kindness is not

(22:40):
a weakness, So I celebrate. I celebrate that. I celebrate,
you know, thinking of others and being mindful of how
my words affect others. So I always try to think
about what I say before I say it. So that's
something that I am. I'm proud of myself.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
For love that. Love that then you know that that's
a great quality to have. So definitely, never take your
kindness for being a weakness because it's not. Because this
world needs more of that if anything. But what about you?

Speaker 2 (23:13):
What is a non physical attribute that you celebrate?

Speaker 1 (23:17):
You know? I am. Something that will celebrate is being
open minded because I am always open minded about pretty
much everything. Yeah, you know, I feel like there's always
something to learn, there's always room for improvement, and there's
always something to just be more knowledge knowledgeable and understanding about.

(23:42):
You know, it goes back to you don't know what
you don't know exactly, You don't know what you don't know,
and that's okay, Like we're never in this world going
to know everything. So I feel like, you know, I
take a lot of pride in celebrating that I am
open minded and very understanding of others and situations and

(24:02):
I always like to hear the other side of things. Yeah,
you know, I always like to learn about it. And
whether you agree or disagree, just know that, you know,
you can be open minded and just just learn about
others and other situations, and that's a great thing.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Are you open to new foods?

Speaker 1 (24:22):
I am open to new foods. Glad o. See, you know,
it's all it's part of part of life. You know,
it's part of life. And yeah, I mean I hope
that you know you've enjoyed these tips and these conversations
and amigas. Love yourself, Love yourself, embrace your body, Embrace

(24:44):
your inner beauty, embrace your outer beauty. Borgue Suna specific.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
So celebrate yourself and just speak kind to yourself always always.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
That's exactly.
