We did It.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yes, Welcome to episode two, where we will be talking
about Moheata, supporting Moheadas.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
And building a strong community.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Yes, because that that is what it's all about, Moheadas.
We gotta support each other, build our communities, join our communities,
and we're gonna be giving you some tips on how
to do that.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
And before we even get into that, may I just
say how bomby.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Look, thank you girl?

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Make up those of you that don't know. So, Lily
is spending the weekend over at my house, so thank
you for coming to visit me.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
We always need a girl's weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yes, always a girl's weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
And this morning I woke up and she's already hair done.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Nakem I'm like, oh my god.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
I loved the whole day.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
She lived the whole day. She's like, I've been awake
since six in the morning. I took out her dog,
got men. Let go man. Oh my god. Okay, but
thank you beautiful. You look amazing. So we want to
talk about head of supporting.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Moheadas and we have different tips on how to do
so right, how to crack that shell if you're super shy,
and how to simply do it. And the first thing,
the first tip that we can give you is lift
each other up.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yes, being a cheerleader for other women's successes and accomplishments,
like any accomplishment that they have.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
It can be the small accomplishment.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yes, it's like celebrating those victories and offering those words
of encouragement and actively like supporting the aspiration and goals
and the visions and the mindsets, like even like small victories, right,
like talking about.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Like hey, I haven't gotten my nails done in a
long time. Look I did. Oh my god, let's celebrate that, right.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
It's like, yeah, small victory, or like I have this fear,
like I have a fear of spiders, and you know,
like I got over that or Yeah, it's.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Like celebrating those small and big victories and that's really
the definition of lifting each other up and likesaa it
costs nothing.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yeah, no, it definitely doesn't cause anything. And one thing
that I love about Latina Approved is that I love
when I see some empowering comments on our platform of
girls supporting each other on there.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
And that's the beautiful thing, right, And it's like, whether
you want to build a community or whether you want
to join a community of women mohitts like you will
see like there's no stronger power than a woman's community
because we will have each other's back, we will like
encourage each other, and that is the beautiful thing about it, right,

(03:13):
And just letting go of that competition mentality because there
is no competition. There's only collaborations and allies.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Yes, absolutely, there is sunshine. There's spotlight for everyone to
share exactly.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Everyone is unique.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Everyone has their beautiful skills and superpowers that they can bring,
you know. And yes, so you know it leads to
aside from like on top of I would say, lifting
each other up is like celebrating achievements and what does

(03:51):
that mean?

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, So going into our second tip, is celebrating, whether
it's like.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
A promotion, right, new business ideas, personal milestones like acknowledging
none of mega that hey girl, you did it.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
You know.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
For example, I have a cousin, like, you know, I
think embracing your body that comes in different shapes and sizes,
it's beautiful.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
I think those us mohet is almost baas.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
But one of her goals was to lose to lose
weight and you know, just work on that. This girl
did it, and I'm like, yes, big achievement, shout out
to emmy girl, you are.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Killing it.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
And I know, you know, we all we need to
encourage each other and celebrate those achievements.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Or it's like maybe it's a new job.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Yeah. No. I have a friend who recently got back
into taking dance classes and she took a dance class
by herself, and you can just see how proud she was.
She was intimidated, but she took that risk. She took
that risk to get back into dance and she's just
loving and she's having fun. So definitely A plowed her

(05:00):
for stepping out of her comfort zone and taking a
dath class.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah, you know, and.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
That's super important, right, Like encouraging your amigas too. It's
okay to step out of your comfort zone and two
things can happen.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Either you don't like it or you do. And if
you don't, then okay, onto the next.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
But always be proud that you took that step, that
you pushed yourself.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Yes, and as amigas or muhetas on the other side,
also encourage that, you know, even with strangers, it's such
a beautiful thing to like if you see a woman
just someone that you don't know, but offering a compliment
on something that is genuine like just means the world.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Yeah, Like, I don't know if this has ever happened
to you, but I've had.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Like random girls sometimes common if.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
I have my nails done and then like, oh girl,
like your nails like that just like puts a smile
on my face.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
You're like, yes, you know.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
So it's like simple things that go a long way
that show you know what, I am part of a
woman's community, I am building my own community, or like
simply I support women no matter what, and that really
takes us to like the importance of supporting you know.

(06:10):
Our next tip would be like supporting Latina owned businesses
or muhais.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Yeah, business, I love seeing Latino owned businesses on the rise,
Like I love seeing that on social media, someone launching
a new brand, someone launching a new product, like that
is amazing.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Yeah, So like female entrepreneurship, you know, in general as
a whole, Like I think it's super important to support that.
Spreading the word costs nothing, giving a like or a comment,
Giving a like, a comment, a share, No, it takes
literally a few seconds and it really means the world
to that business owner.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
So really highlighting that it is important.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Just shop small, I would say, shop that's the best way.
And you know what I've noticed with these women own brands,
usually there's already a community within the brand. Yeah, you know,
and it's important to see, like, Okay, what does this
brand represent because I can tell you most of the time,

(07:10):
and I don't want to give a percentage because there's
no percentage that I can think of, but I would
say it's high up there.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
When I look into a small brand.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
Or a Latina own brand or a women's own brand,
usually there's a story behind it, yes, and it's so empowering,
it's inspiring, and it's just super neat to learn about
what that female entrepreneur's journey has been.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Yeah, Like I don't know if you've seen the chamois
product called I Love cham Oi ooh, yes, this is
a Latino own business and she started this Chamoy because
her father's diabetic, so she wanted to create a product
that her dad could enjoy.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
That's so beautiful.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
So knowing those stories there, there's always a story behind
every product.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Yeah, always is, And that's a beautiful story that you
know that you shared. And you know, it's also about
like collaborating with one another because that way you're creating
these opportunities right together. And one of the collaborations that
you know, I'm proud of is collaborating with the Latina

(08:22):
own beauty brand with Yosac Glam Cosmetics. Shout out to
the Yosac Glam Cosmetics. It's a Latina owned beauty brand,
and we collaborated a couple of years ago on releasing
a red lip kit. For those of you that don't know,
I'm obsessed with the red lips and she.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Can rock the red Oh thank you.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yeah, you motivated me to want to get it to restling.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, and honestly, I love red lips, like it's so
sexy and cute and you know feminine.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
So we did a collaboration and what better way than
to collaborate with the Latina owned business. So don't be
afraid to take that initiative and reach out, be like, hey,
I'd like your brand or to collaborate with you, or
maybe there's projects, initiatives, or goals or visions simply how
both Lilly and I started our journey by sharing our
own goals and vision and now we've created something so

(09:12):
beautiful we call our baby Latin Netroy.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Yes, So it's just very very important to do that.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
Which now leads us into our next tip, which is
creating opportunities for connection.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yes, and what does that mean?

Speaker 1 (09:31):
How do you create opportunities and how do you create connections?
So let's dive in a little bit more into that.
That can mean anything from social gatherings, network events, women's
circles and just coming together as one. And there's so
many right when you think about it, even across the state,

(09:52):
there's always women networks available.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yeah, there are.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
And that's a beautiful thing about social media is that
your next connection with empowering Latina is just one DM away.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah, honestly, honestly, it's just one DM away, which reminds me,
for example, shout out to Jasell wonderful, wonderful.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
We love to sell.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
And so she is a creator that we connected with
right before COVID, I would say, right before COVID. And
she loved the Latina proof page. We loved her page.
What you know, her lifestyle content provided and literally she
DM does. She said, oh, we love what you're doing.
We connected in real life, yeah, and we met up

(10:35):
for coffee. We met up for coffee.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
We had never met before, and the three of us
got together for coffee.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Yeah, we got all.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Yeah, we met in La and just during the day
and we just had coffee.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
We couldn't stop.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Talking and we immediately hit it off.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
We made a connection. And then what happened when COVID happened.
You know, she's really into fitness and we rolled out
these fitness courses.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
And they were so much fun.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Yeah, we released it with her brand, Melt to Fit
and just sell with Latina Approve and we did these
virtual like fitness classes and we built that community and
we worked out during COVID.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, and it's crazy that that all stemmed from a
coffee meet up from it.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
Started with a DM right, Yeah, it just stepped from that,
so like, you never know the type of connections that
you can build and just the empowerment and inspiration that
you can bring to other women, to other muhetas.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
So it's truly truly important to do that.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Yes, And our next tip is promoting self care and
what does that really mean? Right? We hear the word
self care all the time, and that really means to
encourage self care practices and prioritizing well being with your community,
for example, sharing tips, resources, techniques for managing stress, prioritize

(12:00):
mental health.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Yes, and you know what, I'm glad you said prioritizing
mental health. I am a huge advocate of mental health. One,
let's backtrack it a little bit, right. One, you never
know what someone is going through, and that's in general
with people in general, right, you never know what they're

(12:22):
going through mentally. I feel like there's everyone is in
different stages and different moments in your life. So just
being conscious of like, hey, that person's probably having a
bad day, right, or just being aware that we all
have our own mental health journey and it's really important
to seek that help when you need it, and I

(12:43):
can personally tell you I've been through therapy and I'm
still in therapy. And the amount of growth that you
have as a person and peace of mind that you
become generating and self love that you start creating for yourself.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Is it's truly an amazing transition.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
And also encouraging your amigas or your family members to
do it, especially in the Latino culture, is something that
I don't know about you, but you tell me, Lily,
how what mental health meant in your family, because.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Yeah, it wasn't really a conversation. It's not It wasn't
and it isn't still a conversation that we can openly have.
I feel like sometimes if I share with my family
like oh, like I feel anxious or I feel you know,
certain ways, they kind of just like, oh, bque, Like

(13:38):
that is the wrong way to approach that.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Yeah, and there's this negative I think, as in the
Latino culture about there's this negative connotation about like mental
health or seeking therapy when it couldn't be further from
the opposite. It's about self growth, it's about healing most
importantly from these generational generational trauma. You know that that

(14:01):
you accumulate or that you learn from from ancestors, and
and you know, I think it's just when it comes
to self care, I really like to have one of
those pillars to be defined as mental health of prioritizing
it goes beyond like getting massages. I know that on
social media most of the time, self care is being

(14:23):
promoted from like, oh, getting a facial or like getting
a massage. It's all beautiful, right, those are great experiences.
I personally love them, and I'm sure you do too.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
I love my massages, my girl.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
I love massages.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Don't do don't remove that from self care pedicares and.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Medicares, And no, we're not discarding it. We're not removing
it from that. It is a pillar and it is
part of self care. But I think most importantly self
care starts from within. It starts from that self healing
from the inside and just wanting to be a better
person and living a better life so that you can

(14:59):
be of better service to those around you, to those
moheads and people around you.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Yes, self care can literally be saying no to something
that you don't want to do, if you don't want
to go to a family event, per se. But sometimes
you feel like obligated, you have to go, but you
mentally like drained or you don't want to go.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
Girls say no, it's so Guilty's okay to say no
and don't feel guilty and don't feel shamed because I
think there's and this is probably girl another conversation we
need to have.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
This is for another episode.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
But I feel like as latinas or maybe as moohead is,
there is a certain guilt that comes from saying no,
Like there's this like little guilty feeling. But you know what,
stap by and stay tuned, because we need to talk
about We need to talk about it. We need to
talk about this.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
But with that, you know, we.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Can lead into our next tip, which is be open
to learning and growth. And I think we've talked about
that about being open to learning and growing, which simply
means staying open minded and receptive to learning from other
women's women's experiences and perspectives.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Yes, and recognize recognizing that diversity within the women's community
is a strength all the mohadas have. So there's a
move head out there that has something to share with
you that you that you don't know about.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
Absolutely one hundred percent and it's like I love the
term of like diversity within the Muhada's community, you know,
because it is a strength. It doesn't matter like or
should I say, the different backgrounds and where we come from,
Like all of that matters, and what matters more is

(16:39):
to being open to just learning about learning.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Sometimes you don't have to talk or say or say anything.
Listening to someone's experience and their journey is incredible.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Yes, And when we talk about like growth, it's like
the way that you grow is aside from like your
personal ex experiences, cultural experiences and just seeing other people,
but it's through dialogue, talk to people, educate yourself, collaborate
because when it goes back to collaborating, when you collaborate

(17:13):
with other women, you're able to learn so much more.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
And you'd be surprised how open we are, at least
for a lot of headas that I've.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Talked to, they're always open to share their story, their
journey or even learn about you.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Yeah, and with that also comes with, you know, understanding
that we might not all share the same the same
ideas or like we can be different about you know,
values that we share and that's okay, that's okay, But
just being respectful of one another and just listening.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Yes, and you know, that's a great point, like because
it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to agree to everything.
And that's fine because we're all human, we all are
our own selves. We all have different beliefs. But it's
like being respectful, right, You don't have to agree with everyone,
but you can have a dialogue. You can have a

(18:08):
healthy educational conversation.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Right, Like I could cook rice and a rice cooker
and then you might cook rice differently. It doesn't make
my way or your way right or wrong. It's just
like we just have different experience difference experiences in different perspectives,
you know. But most importantly to our final our final tip,
which is super important, is offering practical help, be able

(18:36):
to provide and extend that helping hand, be of service
to other women in your community. Yes, no, that is
a great tip to really closing the loop into our
episode of Mohetas supporting moheadas.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Yes, and it's important just be of service, be of service,
and by being of service doesn't mean be available all
the time. I understand we all have our own lives,
we have our own families, we have our own responsibilities.
But when there are women that can use helping hand,
and it can be something as small as sharing a resource,

(19:13):
re sharing a post of maybe organizations that may be
helpful to other women and whatever it is, always open
your heart and open your mind to be of service.
We are human and there's nothing more beautiful than being
available to.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Extend that hand.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
I see us and it is up to us to
see ourselves grow and to uplift each other.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
And that's how we do it.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Yes, and you know that's the only way that we
are going to grow. And just being there, collaborating and
being available and promoting self help, cheerleading for one another.
And it's such a beautiful thing, I tell you. And
if you're not following Latina Approve, please go check us
out on Instagram.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
But I think we can promise that you will love it.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Right. Yes, we have a beautiful community there. It's all
about encouraging and empowering and certaining and lookt Sisaki, it's
been a wonderful, wonderful episode.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
If you guys have any other questions, let us know,
let us know.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Just so you know, Latinas aren't the future. Latinas are now.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Yes, I Junta's almost mass
