We shine the spotlight on two Super Latinas who are putting our stories in the forefront in order to have impact on policy that affects Latina/o community across the United States. Monica Ramirez, a third-generation Mexican-American from a migrant farm-working family in Ohio, is a social entrepreneur and attorney. Olga Segura, a Panamanian-Mexican born in Mexico City, is a film producer and activist. They met through their work with TIME's UP. Together, along with co-founder Alexandra Martinez Kondracke, they created Latinx House, a non-profit organization that brings together the Latinx community and it's allies to discuss societal issues, celebrate Latinx contributions and provide opportunities for Latinx. At their inaugural Raizado Festival they brought together a host of leaders for panels, flash talks, film screenings and discussions on topics covering topics impacting our community like the closing the wealth gap to health equity and the midterm elections. During our conversation they share how our identity crisis as Latinas impact our stories, how our stories (true and false) are used for policy that impacts us, why failing is part of succeeding and the importance of changing the idea of what a leader looks like. Here's to moving forward together!

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
