He leads with empathy to ensure that all students feel connected and supported, while also working to expand opportunities for underserved communities. Roberto oversees bilingual education, student wellness, federal programs, and early childhood initiatives.

Dr. Roberto Lozano is a lifelong educator with over 20 years of experience in public education. He was born in Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico, and raised between two countries and cultures. Roberto leads with a deep commitment to equity and access, ensuring all students feel seen. His journey—from the tomato fields of California to executive leadership in New Mexico—grounds his work in service to students and families.
Roberto began as a dual language teacher and has also served as a principal and executive director. He is an adjunct professor at New Mexico State University, where he teaches bilingual education, teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL), and educational leadership. Roberto earned a bachelor’s degree in bilingual elementary education, a master’s degree in educational management and development, and a doctorate in educational leadership and administration from New Mexico State University.
