Let's start with the importanceof what mental wellness is, or
mental health.
(01:48):
In the hustle and bustle of ourlives, mental health often
takes a back seat, yet it's thesilent force staring our lives
ship, crucial for both leaders'wielding influence and women,
the backbone of our society.
It's about the silent struggles, the quiet strength and the
(02:12):
invisible load carried by somany people.
Let's dive a bit into how ourbrains work Now.
Don't worry, I won't get alltechnical on you.
Let's keep it simple andrelatable.
We all know life is full of upsand downs and sometimes our
(02:33):
minds need a bit of help tohandle it all right.
So our brain works with thiscool principle called
neuroplasticity.
Think of it as the brain'smagic trick.
It means our brains can changeand adapt to whatever life
throws at it.
(02:53):
With the right practices, likemindfulness and positive
thinking, we can train our brainto be more resilient and
positive.
Picture this Every time wethink or do something repeatedly
, our brain learns, adapts andgets stronger in those areas.
It's like going to the gym, butfor your mind, practicing
(03:18):
things like gratitude andmindfulness isn't just good
vibes.
It's a workout session for yourbrain, helping it become
stronger and healthier.
This isn't just fluffy stuff.
Science backs it up.
When we actively practice beingpresent, counting our blessings
(03:38):
and thinking positively, it'slike we're giving our brain the
tools it needs to help usnavigate through life's stormy
seas with a bit more ease andgrace.
So let's all try to be mindfulof our thoughts and actions.
Give yourself a break, breatheand take a moment to appreciate
(04:02):
the good around you, appreciatehow far you've come, appreciate
who you are.
Little by little, this simpleacts help in building a mind
that's not just healthy butthriving, ready to take on the
world with a smile.
Give it a go and you see what Imean.

(05:07):
Let's talk about some age-oldwisdom that still rings true
today.
You know the stuff found in theBible isn't just about
spirituality.
It's actually packed withpractical advice that science
backs up, especially when itcomes to taking care of our
(05:29):
minds.
Take gratitude, for example.
Being thankful for the goodthings in our lives isn't just a
nice gesture.
It actually makes us feelbetter.
Science says that practicinggratitude regularly can boost
our mood and improve our overallmental well-being, and the
(05:51):
Bible has been telling us to bethankful for centuries.
Then there's the concept ofcontentment.
It's easy to always want more, but finding happiness with what
we have is a game changer forour mental health.
Being content doesn't meangiving up on ambitions.
It means appreciating thepresent and the blessings we
(06:15):
have now, which is a lesson weoften see in Scripture.
And let's not forget about love, the kind of love that's about
caring for others selflessly.
Acts of kindness, empathy andlove don't just help the people
we are supporting.
They also make us feel good.
It creates a sense ofconnection and community, which
(06:39):
we all need.
The Bible champions love, andso does modern psychology.
So, whether or not you'rereligious, there's something for
everyone in these timelessprinciples Gratitude,
contentment and love threesimple, powerful ideas that can
make a huge difference in ourmental health.
(07:00):
Let's try to live by them andsee the positive changes
unfolding in our lives.
Now, leaders, this segment is ashout out to you.
Leading can be quitechallenging.
You've got expectations comingat you from every direction and
a team that's looking up to youfor guidance.
(07:21):
That's a lot of pressure and aunique set of challenges you
deal with every day.
It's not just about makingdecisions.
It's about staying steady,clear-headed and inspired so
that you can be there for thepeople who depend on you, and
that means taking your mentalhealth seriously, not just for
(07:45):
you, but for the people that youlead.
You must have your own backhere, creating a mental safety
net for yourself.
Think of it like having a quiet, strong place inside where you
can recharge and find yourbalance.
This isn't just about avoidingstress.
(08:07):
It's about building strength, focus and a sense of calm that
you can draw when needed.
How do you build a safety net?
Start with a few dailypractices that support your
mental health.
This could be anything fromtaking short breaks to clear
your mind, practicingmindfulness to stay grounded, or
(08:30):
engaging in physical activityto blow off steam.
Sometimes it's helpful to seekprofessional advice too.
I always tell people everyoneneeds a coach.
Get one, don't shy away from it.
Coaching isn't a sign ofweakness.
It's a smart move that givesyou the tools to handle the
(08:54):
pressures of leadership.
And, as I'm talking aboutleadership, this actually
includes entrepreneurs, becauseyou're leaders.
Remember.
Taking care of your mentalhealth isn't just good for you.
It sets a positive example foryour team and creates a
healthier, more supportiveenvironment for everyone.
(09:16):
So make mental wellness apriority, leading not just with
your mind, but with your heartas well.
Again, to all the women tuningin, this one's for you again,
life throws a lot at us, doesn'tit?
One minute we're caring forothers, the next we're diving
(09:37):
head first into our professionallife, and then we're back home,
creating a space that's warmand welcoming for everyone.
Through our this, it's superimportant to remember that
taking care of your mentalhealth isn't a nice to have,
it's a must.
Have your mental wellness isn'ta treat or reward.
(10:00):
It's your right, you'reentitled to it, and it's not
just about getting through theday without losing it.
It's about feeling good, feeling strong and feeling like
yourself.
So take the time to do thingsthat make you feel good, that
help you relax and make youhappy, because when you're well,
(10:23):
it's like everything around youjust falls into place.
As we wrap up this episode, let's take away some real,
hands-on advice that we can alluse.
First off, mindfulness, and no,it doesn't have to be
complicated.
Think of mindfulness andmeditation as taking a few
(10:47):
moments to just be, breathe andnotice life happening around you
.
Take it apart of your day everyday, like having a cup of
coffee in the morning.
And then there's gratitude.
It's about more than sayingthanks.
It's about appreciating thegood stuff in your life, big and
(11:13):
small.
So maybe start or end your dayby thinking of one thing that
made you smile.
And do this as you lie down togo to bed every night.
And, of course, find what makesyou happy and do more of it.
(11:33):
Whether it's reading, jogging, painting or watching your
favorite show, make time for it.
There aren't just hobbies.
They're like mini vacations foryour mind.
After there, we have itMindfulness, meditation,
gratitude and doing what youlove Three simple, doable things
(11:57):
that can make a world ofdifference to your mental health
.
Give it a try and let me knowhow you get on.
As I wind up today's chat, let's just take a moment to soak
in what we've talked about.
Mental health isn't somethingto just shove in the corner and
deal with later.
(12:18):
It's not something to justfocus on on World Mental Health
Day.
It's an everyday thing, something we should weave into
the fabric of our lives, forleaders, for women, for every
single person.
We've covered some ground today, haven't we, from understanding
(12:40):
the unique pressures on leaders, on entrepreneurs,
acknowledging the juggling actwomen perform daily to drawing
on ancient wisdom and puttingsimple everyday practices into
action.
It's all about taking somesteps towards a healthier,
happier mind.
I keep focusing a lot on women, but men, this also applies to
(13:06):
you.
Using these principles willenable every single person own
their own mental well-being.
Remember, it's okay to have baddays.
It's okay to seek help whenthings get tough.
They strengthen vulnerabilityand power in admitting when you
(13:27):
need support.
And those simple practices wetalked about gratitude,
meditation, mindfulness andfinding joy.
Don't just nod along.
Leave them, breathe them andlet them guide you through the
