In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the launch of ESPN's PTI, Russell shares how his life intersected with the shows hosts Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon. Russell tells the story of how his dad ended up at the Washington Post where he would mentor a college intern named Mike Wilbon. For Russell, the Washington Post sports section featuring Tony and Mike was a must read growing up in the late 80s and 90s. Russell met Tony when he interned as a high school senior at WTEM sports talk radio. Years later, Russell had a chance to speak to Mike during a meeting at Russell's high school alma mater Georgetown Prep. Russell shares how watching Tony work and what Mike shared during their meeting impacted him. PTI inspired Russell in 2009 to shoot a TV pilot with his father entitled Fugett Squared, an intergenerational dialogue on the world of sports. In telling this story, Russell pays tribute to the unique impact Tony & Mike and the PTI program have had on his life as a sports fan and as an entrepreneur.
